Two birds of a feather

The next thing I knew Jaston touched me and a jolt shot though me like a defibrillator and I dropped to floor. As I went to get up he did it again and my knees hit the ground hard. I put my hand up to knock it away and the shock hit me tenfold traveling thoughout my body. I slumped to the ground my face smacking the mats. I felt a puddle of drool slip out of my mouth and there was nothing I could do about it. His finger pressed against my shoulder blade sending another shock leaving me convulsing on the floor. By this time he was kneeling beside me, "I\'m gonna keep doing this until you do something about it."

He poked my shoulder a shock pushing through my body as a couple tears slid down my face. His blurry face looked apologetic, but I didn\'t give a fuck at this point. I was getting pissed, but there was nothing I could do about it. My body started to sweat, and i could feel my heart skipping beats. My breathing was ragged and I could feel my eyes getting heavy like I getting sleepy. I started to feel heat rising in my chest. When his hand reached for me I cringed shutting my eyes bracing myself because I couldn\'t take anymore. A moment later his hand never touched me and an ear piercing scream sounded throughout the room. I opened my eyes in disarray and he was on the floor holding his hand close to his chest like it was a newborn baby. I wanted to know what happen, but my eyes closed and I slipped into the oblivion falling to sleep.

I awoke sometime later to the sound of a crash. I sat up looking around and I saw a man lying on the ground. With a metal tray beside him food on the ground like he collapsed while trying to carry it. He sat up and I noticed that it was the guy with the red hair that Kira was chasing earlier. He laughed it off sounding like a little kid. And when he noticed that I was up he laughed even harder his head falling back. He hit the railing of the bed cutting off the laugh momentarily. I laughed a little as he rubbed his head.

I noticed a boot coming around the corner and it was Jaston. I glared at him making him stop dead in his tracks. He caught sight of the redhead, "you alright strawberry?" The guy nodded smiling as he finished picking up the food. His hand looked fine and I\'m sure i looked as dumbfounded as i felt. Even though I didn\'t ask he said, "it was broken earlier, but minxsy fixed it..."

Strawberry picked up the tray and walked out of the room. And before he left i swear he said, "good luck..."

I laughed as he took a step forward.

"Please don\'t come near me..." He stepped back leaning against the door jamb.

"How you feeling?"

"Like I had my head beaten into the pavement... But thanks for asking..." I leveled my eyes at him thinking, "what the fuck do you think?"

"What I think doesn\'t matter, but as your superior commander you need to get back in the training room and-"

"About face commander," a woman said interrupting him sounding a lot like my mother. I barely heard what she said but he stood there at attention not moving not even saying a word. After a moment she finished and he saluted and walked away. When she entered the room I wanted to run to her.

She wore a black dress that stopped at her knees. It wasn\'t a tight fit and her heels were gray and blood splattered. Her hair was down to the middle of her back mostly black with green and navy blue streaks. She stood to a height of 6\' 5" with the three inch heels on.

"Hi mom," I said pulling the covers back placing my feet on the cold tiled floor seeing that i had no shoes on only socks.

"Hi baby," she said walking up to me as i stood up. She hugged me and as I wrapped my arms around her the tension seeped out of me. "Whats with the blood?"

"I had to help put a vampire out of his misery..."

"So this is what you\'ve been doing all this time?" I pulled away as we sat on the twin bed i was sleeping on.

"Yeah, i wasn\'t allowed to tell you until you joined... I\'m sorry honey, i know you were frustrated about it all this time."

I looked at the tile as she put her arm around me. "I\'m glad you\'re alright... I came as soon i heard you didn\'t wake up yesterday..."

"Yesterday? How long have I been asleep?"

"About 48 hours..."

"Wow, I missed two days..." I mumbled to myself.

"When were you going to tell me that i was... Uhm..."

"Special?" She asked laughing, "Well I was going to tell you last night, but my superior told Jaston to do shock treatment like his father did to me..."

"So what happen to Jaston was my fault?"

"Yeah, but he forced you to do it. I don\'t think he was expecting you to break every bone in his hand..." She laughed, "I guess he thought you had the same Crest that I had..."

"And in case you were wandering no one is to know that we exist... We exist purely in the realm of the mystical only being here because of the council..."

"Council?"

"Yeah, i\'ll explain it all later honey... When we get home you can ask me all the questions you want..."

"Okay... But one more question..." I said as she stood up, "when you say mystical, you mean were not human?"

"Yeah... We\'re elven honey... You dont think you got your good looks from nowhere..." She laughed the sound soothing and I felt glad to have her back in my presence. I smiled putting on my shoes and we walked out of the room.

We turned left walking down the hall.

"So where were you?" I asked curious.

"I was in kentucky... Theres been plenty of police reports where humans have been found in the alleys with teeth marks in their throats." I thought of Xavier momentarily as she continued, "And they were drained of their blood... Usually vampires don\'t drink from humans because they have blood mates, usually. But this particular one didn\'t follow tradition."

We came out of the hall entering the training room and Jaston was off to the right sparring with Strawberry. My mom leaned over the railing, "Jaston..." They both stopped and looked at her,

"Yes, Caterina?"

"I don\'t mean to interrupt, but Joan wants a 150 push-ups to see how your hands doing..." His face dropped a tad almost unnoticible, "make that a 175, then report to Joan." She smiled as we walked off turning right going towards the door I came in two days ago. We exited the room going up two flights of stairs going into a door marked floor C.

As we entered the room there was one woman sitting at a desk with papers scattered all around her. There was another desk beside her with three black laptops.

She looked up at us as we walked up to her desk. Her eyes lit up as she noticed us. She stood up coming around the desk.

"Hi Nadia," She said to my mom and as she shook my hand she introduced herself, "Hi, I\'m Joan Yuna, and I\'m your new boss... It\'s so nice to finally meet you." As I got a full look at her I knew I had seen her at the house before, but I hadn\'t quite met her, or even said \'hi\' to her.

Her long brown hair fell past her shoulders in waves, and her eyes were a beautiful sky blue, but they also a silver star in the iris of both eyes.

"It\'s, uhm, nice to, meet... you... to... Are those contacts?"

She laughed and said, "no, these are my natural eyes... Here let me show you."

She reached up to her eyes taking out the clear contacts that were in her eyes. Now her eyes were even more blue and the star shined bright like the sun.

As I felt myself getting weary she looked away, "Sorry about that they\'re a little dangerous to others without the shield on them."

"So how did your mission in kentucky go?"

"Well we dealt with the problem, and there didn\'t seem to be any one helping him out... But I\'ve placed some Feather\'s there just in case some one surfaces..."

"Good, who\'d you send up there?"

"Kira\'s up there now, but she wont be there for long because shes visiting her Aunt... But Matthew is up there, and so is Harlen."

"Matthew would\'ve been plenty, but Harlen is kind of overkill, but I know you like to cover your ass. So I\'m gonna leave that to you, but have them report to you, then you report to me... Shoot Kira a text and tell her to see me when she gets back in town. Other than that you two are free to go. Catch your son up on the job, and get him caught up on how to use his abilities, and anything else you deem important because he\'s going to need it... The witches seem to be brewing up some trouble, like war trouble with the seers and I believe that would be the elves\' general area. So you might want to talk to your queen, or king, and see if the elves here can be of any assistance... I\'ll catch y\'all later..."

She turned around started filing some papers before we walked out the door a phone rang.

We walked down the flights of stairs to get to floor F. We went through the door entering the room I came in to two days ago. This room always seemed to be so busy, and there seemed to be more people in here than the last time I was in here. There seemed to be a lot more activity on the screen now like something had changed.
