Secrets

Ch. 5 Secrets

It had been 3 days that Amber stayed in her room. Jessica or Jeremy would come in every now and then to give her food or change the bandages on her shoulders. By the fourth day, Amber was board of the room, and wanted to get out. And since Jessica and Jeremy hadn’t stopped by like normal, she decided to get out of bed.

Where was Jessica? She wondered as she got out of the bed slowly, her scar’s still aching as she moved. A calming feeling invaded her mind, well at least Jessica wasn’t hurt, just not home. Well screw staying in her room, she was hungry. Amber left her room only to realize she didn’t remember how to get to the kitchen.

Jessica chose then to give her directions through their mental link, Amber grinned as she made her way to the kitchen, she loved Jessica. She walked passed the dinning area with the large table and into another room adjacent to it: it looked like a culinary school kitchen! With several counters, stoves, ovens and three fridges that were all made of chrome. She approached the fridges, the first one was filled with blood bags which was typical, the second one…blood bags, the third…BLOOD BAGS!

She hated Jessica.

She closed the fridges door only to jump back when it revealed Dunkin on the other side…with a soda? “Where did you get that?”

He took a sip before answering, “In your fridge that Jessica keeps in the back.”

Amber gawked at him, “So that’s mine!?”

He took the last sip before crushing the can with his hand effortlessly, “Yep, and the last.”

Amber clinched her fists in anger before walking to the back of the kitchen to ‘her’ fridge, “Fucking son of a bitch!” She cursed as she left.

She opened her fridge and low and behold, there was human food. Amber grabbed a juice box and a pre-made sandwich, thanks to Jessica, and turned to go to the dinning room.

Of course Dunkin was just sitting there, staring at her. What the hell did he want anyway? Amber ate away at her sandwich angrily, first he tries to kill her and now he wont leave her alone? Well maybe that was just it, they were alone and he wanted to eat her. Heaven knows that that soda wasn’t going to hold him over. She paused her thought process as she took a sip from her juice box. Wait, they were alone…and he DID want to eat her.

She looked up at him and caught his ice blue stare head on and almost winced at its intensity. She gulped, “What?” She asked nervously.

“I didn’t say anything.” He responded dully but continued to stare at her as if she had grown two heads.
She growled in anger as she got up to throw away her garbage, “I should just fucking incinerate your ass and get this over with.” She grumbled as she chunked her trash in the garbage bin.

She turned to storm away when she bumped into Dunkin, she squeaked when she realized what just happened.

“So you can use fire.” He sated as if a question had been answered.

Amber’s heart almost stopped, “N-no, I never said that.” She stuttered and tried to walk around him to leave, but Dunkin grabbed her arm.

“You burned me.” He stated, hinting about when he had harmed her.

Amber hissed as he squeezed her upper arm/shoulder where she was cut. “Stop it, that hurts!” She growled.

He stared at her angrily, “You think I care? Tell me the truth.”

She glared back at him, “FINE! Now, let me go!”

Amber was surprised when he actually listened and let go of her shoulder. She moved to go sit at the dinner table once again and Dunkin sat at the chair next to her.

“When I was a teenager, Jessica introduced me to a master that taught me some minor magic, so I can wield fire. But just like any magical power that is learned, it comes with consequences so I don’t use it often.” She stated quickly and as shortly as possible. “So and don’t tell anyone. You and Jess are the only two who know about it.”

Dunkin leaned forward, interest gleaming in his icy eyes, “What is the consequence?”

Amber blushed, was he concerned? No he couldn’t be, “Its none of you’re business what the consequence is. I shouldn’t have told you my ability anyway.”

Amber got up to leave when Jessica entered the dinning room. Amber glared at her friend before grabbing her wrists and dragging her away.

“Ok, ok, you don’t have to pull me around!” Jessica shouted

Once they were in the hallway Amber stopped and turned to her friend, “Why did you leave me ALONE WITH HIM!”

Jessica sighed and rolled her eyes, “I asked him to watch over you. We needed to get you more groceries. I know he is mean, but he wouldn’t kill you, because I would kill him.”

Amber frowned, “Well, thanks to you, he knows our secret now.”

Jessica stared at her questionably, “Which one?”

Amber grabbed her friends shoulders, “The important one.”

They stared at each other very seriously. Jessica whispered, “Did you tell him everything?”

Amber moved her hands away from Jess’s shoulders, “He doesn’t know what the consequences are of me using my magic.”

“Good. Why don’t you go back up stairs and rest?” Suggested Jessica as she tried to move her forward.

“No. I am tired of staying the room. I actually would like to go outside for a bit.” Amber said as she headed toward the front of the house.

“Be careful.” Shouted Jessica as Amber left the house.
