Chapter Five:

“Good morning Urian,” Mira called out as he rubbed his sleepy eyes. “Did you sleep well last night?” Mira asked even though he already knew the answer.

“Yes,” Urian replied with one big yawn as he stretched his arms. “You should go wash up in the stream before we leave,” said Urian.

“I certainly will do that,”

Mira stood up and walked over to the stream while Urian put everything away. Shit, once Urian found Noah, he was going to give him hell for putting him through agony. He didn't like it one bit that he could only look at but not touch what he wanted. Why did Fan have to be Noah’s fiancé? It would make his life a lot easier if Fan was his fiancé instead--

“What are you thinking about Urian? You look so serious,” Mira asked, interrupting Urian’s thoughts.

“I was just wondering where Noah and the rest of the crew was,” Urian answered quickly. He quickly went to the stream to wash up.

Mira smiled and shook his head in amusement as he watched Urian splash his face with the cold water. With a quiet laugh, he turned away and picked up his sword. He went to wait for Urian under the big tree where they slept last night.

“Where do you think Danny and Noah disappeared to last night?” Mira asked Urian as he walked up to him with his sword in his hand.

“Don't know, but they should still be around here,” replied Urian. “Come on, we should get a move on if we want to find them,” he added and waved for Mira to follow him.

“Can I ask you something?” said Mira as he caught up to Urian.

“Sure. What do you want to know?” said Urian with his back to Mira.

“Why did Keriya look so hurt yesterday when Danny introduced me as Noah’s fiancé?” Mira asked as he recalled the sad look in Keriya’s eyes before he fled into the forest.

Urian stopped and turned around to face Mira. “Don't tell Noah this but Keriya has been in love with him since they were eight. It was a shock to him to hear that the man he loved all his life was engaged to someone else,” replied Urian.

“When we meet again I must have a talk with him. I don't want to hurt him, especially when I know what it feels like to be in love with someone for that long,” Mira said, then he walked ahead of Urian biting his bottom lip. He had to tell Keriya the truth about him and Noah. The sooner they found them the better.

“Maya, promise me that you will do this one thing for me. I don't want him to be alone forever.”

“I promise Dad. I will do everything according to your wish.”

Skylas opened his eyes and sat up. A dream! It was the same damn dream he had been having ever since he was ten. With a sigh he looked down at the man sleeping soundly next to him.

Alistair woke up to find Skylas watching him. “It is rude to watch people sleep, Brat!” Alistair said gruffly.

“You know, you don't look so mean when you are asleep. I think I like you better that way,” Skylas commented. He got up and went to wash himself in the river.

Skylas splashed some water on his face and then gazed down at his reflection. Maya. Could the Maya in his dream be the same as the one Alistair said was his brother? Skylas quickly shook that thought away. Impossible. It was just a dream, a damn annoying dream that kept bothering him every damn time he slept. He wished that it would just go away.

“Finally, we found you!” Skylas heard Urian say as he emerged from the woods on his right side with a beautiful boy next to him.

“So where is Alistair? I doubt that he would let you out of his sight Uncle,” said Urian with his arms crossed over his chest.

“He and Danny are just over there,” Skylas replied just as Danny came into their view.

“Oh Urian, I see that you finally found us,” Danny said in a cheerful tone.

“Is Noah with you?” Urian asked Danny with a scowl on his face.

“Nope, sorry Urian. Noah and Keriya went ahead. Noah told me to tell you to take care of his fiancé. He will see you two back at your Father’s castle,” Danny said with a grin.

“Fan, how are you this morning?” Danny asked Mira with a big smile.

“We need to talk Danny,” Mira pulled Danny to the side far enough that Urian couldn't hear them.

“Did you know about Keriya’s feelings for Noah?” Mira demanded in a angry whisper.

“Of course. So did Urian’s Dad, even Noah. We thought it would be a good way to kill two birds with one stone if you get what I mean,” said Danny.

“Why the hell did Noah agree to this little deception knowing how much it would hurt Keriya?” Mira murmured.

“Noah likes to see Keriya’s crying face because it makes him happy to see how much Keriya loves him. I myself don't know why Keriya would fall in love with a man like him,” Danny whispered. “But I do know one thing for sure, Noah really loves Keriya, he just has a weird way of showing his love.”

“If I had known, I wouldn't have agreed to go along with this deception,” Mira muttered softly.

“I'll let you in a little secret, Keriya is already married to Noah,” Danny broke the secret with a grin.

“What?” Mira uttered with astonishment.

“Yup, it’s the truth. They were married to each other when Noah was nine and Keriya was seven. The only person who doesn't remember is Keriya, and Noah has no intention of telling him until Keriya confesses his feelings to him.”

“Hey, are you two done?” Urian called out to them as he wondered what the hell the two of them were discussing.

“Yes, we are done,” Danny shouted back to his friend.

Mira sighed. He felt like he wanted to strangle someone, and Danny seemed like a good choice since he was within his reach. “You better hope that Noah tells Keriya the truth Danny, or I will when we meet up with them again,” Mira uttered. He then went back to Urian and his uncle.

Alistair frowned when he saw the two people behind his son and Skylas, then he turned around giving them his back. “We are going to have to walk to the nearest village since we lost our horses. Do any of you have a problem with that?” Alistair asked coldly.

“We have no problem with that Father,” Danny spoke up for all of them.

“Now why don't we leave first,” Danny suggested to Urian and Mira as he dragged them along with him, leaving Skylas alone with his grumpy father.

Alistair tossed a banana to Skylas and Skylas caught it with both his hands. “Eat it so that we can leave,” Alistair said gruffly before turning his back to Skylas.

“I am not hungry,” Skylas said as he stared at the fruit in his hand.

“You will eat it Brat!” Alistair commanded without turning around to face Skylas.

“Stop calling me a brat! I have a name you know,” Skylas yelled at Alistair and then he threw the banana at Alistair’s broad back.

Skylas quickly regretted his action when Alistair turned around, his face red with rage. He swallowed hard and backed away until his back came into contact with a tree. “Look, I didn't mean it,” he tried to apologize to the angry man.

Alistair leaned forward angrily and kissed him deeply, shocking Skylas who had not expected it. Skylas’s heart was racing like crazy.

“Father, sorry to interrupt you, but we do need to get going,” Danny’s voice brought Alistair back to reality. Alistair quickly pulled away from Skylas, and without saying anything, he stormed away.

Skylas’ fingers went to his bruised lips, his eyes still wide open from the shock of being brutally kissed by Alistair.

“Did my father steal your first kiss?” Danny asked Skylas with a grin.

Skylas’ face turned bright red and he looked down. Danny just chuckled.

“My father is going to be in a foul mood for the rest of the day so we shouldn't keep him waiting,” Danny said.

Skylas just nodded his head and followed Danny quietly.

“Alec! It’s been so long since I last saw you,” Maya greeted the man with a warm smile and a hug.

“I was just here two months ago helping Marcus deliver his second child. How can it be that long?” Alec said with a chuckle.

Maya laughed and poured some hot tea for the demon doctor. “So how are your two children?” he asked as he handed Alec the cup filled with tea.

“They are a handful,” replied Alec as he accepted the cup of tea from Maya.

“I heard that you sent Alistair to find him,” Alec said as Maya sat down across from him.

“Yes I did.”

“Now it is up to Alistair to trigger his locked memories,” Alec remarked before taking a sip of his tea.

“If he is able to,” said Maya.

“Well, it shouldn't be too hard to unlock his past life memories,” Alec commented.

“Alec, did you by any chance make it easy for Alistair to unlock my dad’s memories?” ask Maya.

“I don't know,” replied Alec with a playful smile.

Maya shook his head at Alec and laughed softly. “You really are my dad’s best friend.”

“Dan is my friend, my only friend. Of course I would do whatever I can for him,” Alec stated.

“Well it was you anyway who suggested that he---”

“Maya, is Alec with you?” a voice interrupted them from outside.

“Yes he is Saria,” Maya answered.

The door opened to reveal Saria, Keriya’s dad. “Alec, my youngest son is sick, could you---”

“Bring me to him right away!” Alec cut in as soon as he heard that a child was sick.

“I'll go with you two,” said Maya.

“Then I should go with you as well,” Maya heard his bodyguard say from above before he leapt down and landed on his feet in front of him.

“Damien, don't you have better things to do than follow me around? You know very well that I am capable of taking care of myself,” Maya sighed.

“I am just following the demon king’s orders,” replied Damien.

Alec was surprised to find that Damien was still guarding Maya after all these years.

“I wish Danny was here,” Maya complained out loud.

“Why? Where did Danny go?” Alec asked.

“Danny is away and he won't be back for a while,” replied Maya.

“Maya don't tell me that Damien fears Danny?” Alec asked, his eyes sparkling with laughter.

“I don't fear him, he is just too persistent,” Damien growled. “I have told him many times that I am too old for him, and he still insists that age doesn’t matter. That boy is a nuisance I tell you.”

Both Maya and Saria laughed and Alec joined them.

An idea came to Maya. He smiled mischievously at Damien and Damien didn't like it one bit.

“Damien, I have decided that tonight I am going to have a little talk with Kai, so be prepared to leave tomorrow.” With that said, Maya took Alec and Saria’s hands and the trio left Damien behind to stare after them, eyes wide with horror.
