Love In All The Wrong Places

By the time Emil finished his story his face was buried in Ban's chest. Ban wrapped an arm protectively around the boy while his other hand rested on his head. Muffled sobs echoed under the bridge and into the falling night.

"Y—you never told me he raped you too…" Ban's voice was barely a whisper but they all heard him.

Emil brought a hand up to Ban's chest and clenched his shirt, "I…I was scared to tell you." The crying stopped and the words came soft. Emil pulled away from Ban and his face glistened with the tears that stained it. "It hurts, Ban. The silence, the façade, the abuse. It all hurts and I have to take it, I have to pretend like nothing's wrong when my stepbrother is having his way with me every night…and…and I can't tell my mother because it would hurt a thousand times more to see her alone and unhappy again." Fresh tear spilled over the boy's eyes and Ban brought his hand up to wipe them away then brushed his lips lightly across Emil's forehead.

Once he stopped crying and calmed down, Emil apologized for making such a scene. The boys thought nothing of it then asked them of their relationship.

"We're friends; we used to go to school together before I transferred to Vista Valley. Ban was really the only friends I had, all the others were just names and faces I remembered." Emil said sadly "He was the only person I could tell about what was going on. I knew I could trust him, because he trusted me with his…" he trailed off and stared at the ground covered with dirt, paint and gum that was stepped on until it became a black spot that was one with the concrete.

"It's cool, Em." The brunet spoke "My parents are in the middle of a divorce. They're arguing about who gets me. Not because both of them want me, but because neither of them wants me." He paused. "They never wanted me, they never loved me and all my life that's all I've ever wanted, for someone to love me. Since I couldn't get it at home I looked elsewhere. I met this guy, Brent. We didn't meet in the nicest way but he was the first person to tell me he loved me. When he asked me to be his boyfriend I said yes without even thinking about it, I was happy. I was loved. Brent's not the greatest guy in the world; he hurts me physically and makes me do work for him. I used to wonder if he really meant it or not, but after listening to my mom and dad scream "You take him!" at each other, I decided I didn't care. I didn't care if he really loved me or not, as long as it was him an as long as I could hear those three words, I didn't care."
