Ghosts and Gore

Epilogue
Ghosts and Gore

Oh please, Grimshaw,” Lillian stroked the side of the soldier’s face, rough from sweat soaked stubble, “Take the deal, and I can be yours forever.

Grimshaw glanced away from the phantasmal, angel-white figure of Lillian to peer at the shadows that moved with an unholy nature. “Lillian, I…I don’t…”

You hate him still,” she continued, “Having me will hurt him more than he can stand.” She saw that Grimshaw was still slow to turn to their side. “I love you more, you know.”

Grimshaw knew, but…he didn’t care about love. “Look,” he turned away from her and shook his head in dismay, “I know you love me, but Klinger…well,” he paused and began to walk away. “He’s forgotten you. I’m not taking the deal.” Grimshaw disappeared into the shadows of the subway and headed back to the compound.

Lillian watched him leave sadly. As his figure faded away, she turned to face the shadows that observed them with a changed face of accomplishment. “It worked,” she spoke vilely, the ghostly aura fading from her, “He will hurt the gullible boy and secure the plan for him. You will get the disk, our-true-Savior.”

Katey, though he was so close to the place, still had trouble understanding why he wished to go to Colorado, to get to Pariah Core, as soon as possible. He didn't even know it was a technological industrial plant until earlier that day. His original plan was to go up to it then back to the little town nearby where everyone was held up. Grimshaw joined him on his quest. The others were still at the abandoned hotel in the town. Katey had not cared that Klinger could not join them, which was very odd to the others-- even somewhere in the back of his mind, Katey thought it was strange, his attitude about leaving his lover behind.

The forest was dark. They had decided to leave the path and march directly up the mountain. With every step, however, Katey felt colder. Not because of his destination, but the strange aura that radiated from Grimshaw was unsettling. Katey shook it off.

He surveyed the crowded scene of trees before them. “What do you think?” Katey asked squinting into the shadows.

Grimshaw approached the leather back of Katey’s jacket. “I think…” he gritted his teeth. Grimshaw shoved forward and grabbed the stiff shoulders and slammed them into a tree. Katey’s face hit to the side, and Grimshaw closed in and pressed his body onto the brat’s, “that this is the perfect place.”

“What the he—!” Katey’s breath was cut short as Grimshaw’s fingers clawed through the groin of his jeans, squeezing his genitals dangerously.

“I’ve wanted to fuck you up,” Grimshaw continued, hissing, “Fuck you up good ever since I saw you with him! You think you can take away all his pain? You think you can give him the pleasure he deserves—that he even deserves it?! You just think your hot stuff, don’t ya? Huh?!” Grimshaw started yelling into the shuddering boy’s ear, “Don’t you, Terance?!”

Katey’s once-closed eyes shot open with an infuriated gleam. Whatever rage had lain dormant inside him awoke and lashed out at the sound of that name.

Katey jerked his foot up with full force and landed it in between Grimshaw’s legs. It was unsure whether he hit his crouch, but the kick was enough to make the bastard loosen his grip. Katey spun and took his fist with him. The side of his balled-up hand slammed into Grimshaw’s temple, knocking the soldier onto his back. Katey’s other hand took up his knife—the new one Klinger gave him before their journey—and flung it down with precise skill. The blade caught Grimshaw through the ear, painfully pinning him to the dirt.

“First off,” Katey began straightening his jacket and hat, “No, I don’t intend on taking away Klinger’s pain; that’s something he's gotta do himself, by himself!” He stepped closer to the grounded violator, “Secondly, yeah, I’m giving him pleasure! But it’s not my place to decide if he deserves it or not—I just give him what I wanna give’em, you bitch-ass piece of shit!”

Katey stood close to Grimshaw’s head. Grimshaw attempted to move but suddenly found the bottom of Katey’s boot choking his neck. Katey continued his point as he grind the heal into the trachea , “Thirdly, I am hawt!! If it gets you pissy-jealous, then get a your own goddamn fuck-buddy and get over yourself!”

Katey reached down and grabbed the black handle of the knife. With a pain-wrenching hiss, the blade slid from Grimshaw’s ear cartilage. Katey wiped the blood onto his pants leg.

“And don’t call me ‘Terance.’”

Grimshaw’s eyes widened.

“Unless you just wanna die…” Katey mumbled.

In his pause though, that’s when he heard the grunt of a monster and a snap of a branch. As he spun, he saw the creature. It leaped at Katey. He dodged and tumbled to the side out of the creature's reach, and hid in the shrubs. The werewolf-like being had landed over Grimshaw and with no other target it laid its attention on the fallen soldier. It raised its fists and brought them down. The soldier screamed, but the shrill sound was cut short by the fallen fists that crushed the tiny skull and ribcage.

Katey blinked and gulped. “Told ya…”
