Chapter 5
Ashton was true to his word. The next day he came with a rabbit in his hand. That wasn’t the only thing he came with, either. Eli noticed a wrap around his waist that covered the important bits. He had an idea that it was to make him feel better about Ashton’s nudity, but he more the thought about it, the more embarrassed he became.
He continued to keep his eyes chest-above, and walked in front of the white wolf when Mama shooed them out so she could get their dinner ready. She gave him a pointed look as well, making Eli cringe.
They walked a bit, around the clearing, just inside of the trees, but able to keep the cottage in sight, before Eli decided that walking was too awkward, especially with the quietness. The nervousness made him walk funny.
So, instead, he kept his eye out, and eventually spotted a considerably flat rock suitable enough for the both of them to sit on.
Eli decided he didn’t like the silence, and that he was curious about the other wolf, and started to ask questions, which Ashton seemed more than happy to answer.
For the next hour or so, they talked, and Eli learned quite a few interesting things about the white wolf. Like how he didn’t really like his pack, and avoided him, rather, living near the outskirts of the territory, a self-proclaimed sentry. Well, at least, recognized by the Alpha so that the other’s checking around would steer clear of his area.
Also, that the night before had been the first time he’d ever eaten cooked meat.
Eli just stared at him as if he’d said something extremely incredulousness. Like having never eaten cooked meat before.
Ashton laughed at his expression. “What? When I hunt, I’m doing it in my wolf form. I don’t normally care if it’s cooked. It‘s never really mattered to me.”
“Oh.” Eli had answered, thinking about it. Ugh, no. Not something he wanted to do.
“Come hunting with me next time.” Ashton offered, nudging Eli with his arm good-naturedly. The red wolf shrugged. Damn, he didn’t want to eat raw meat. Though, if he thought about it, there was a certain… appeal to it, that he was certain was coming from his inner wolf.
“Depends.”
“On?”
“What would we be hunting?” No rabbits!
“I suppose deer might be good. Good size, and enough for two, if we’re hungry enough for it.” Eli shrugged again.
“I guess.” He didn’t have qualms against hunting deer. Beh. There were far to many of them in the first place.
“What, not enough for you? Should we try something bigger?” Eli blushed, shaking his head furiously as Ashton nudged him again, playfully.
“No, deer is fine.”
“Okay then.”
They went off into a slightly awkward silence. Eli started thinking back to the night before, with Mama’s warning. As cryptic as it was, and usually Mama was cryptic about the important things, he wasn’t all that worried about it. Yeah, it’s probably come back to bite him in the butt, but he really just couldn’t bring himself to care.
Maybe if she had been a little more descriptive, gave him a little more to think about then, yeah.
But he knew he wasn’t going to figure it out, so why think about it?
With that in mind, he turned his attention back to Ashton, who he noticed was looking at him, with a contemplative expression.
“Something wrong?” He asked, but the white wolf shook his head, slowly.
“No, not at all.”
Ashton looked away, and Eli was once again, confused.
A while later, dinner was ready, and Ashton stayed long enough to eat with them again. Eli walked him out, and saw him off.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, then.” Ashton promised, getting a nod from the red wolf. “Don’t forget, we’re going to hunt.” He got another nod.
Soon Ashton was off, and Eli watched him go off, before finally turning in.
“Heard you had some plans for tomorrow.” Mama said when he walked in. Eli gave a shy smile.
“Yes. Ashton wants me to hunt with him.”
“Mm.” Mama replied. Eli frowned. She didn’t look so good. Not sickly, now, but he couldn’t quite place it.
“Is everything okay?” He finally asked, getting a nod, before Mama shooed him away. She had cleaning to do, before it got too dark.
Something was going on that both Mama and Ashton knew about, and weren’t letting him in on. He couldn’t help but wonder on it, but the more he thought, the more he got confused.
Ugh! He hated having to think. Better to just leave it alone. If he was meant to know, then Mama would tell him. Ashton didn’t really seem the sort to keep important things to himself, either.
So, if he had to know, then he would.
He just had a feeling that it was about him, and that was what was troubling him.
Bright and early, Ashton came by, waking Eli from a deep sleep, dreaming about something to do with birds.
He was still groggy as he stepped outside, hissing when the sun hit his eyes. Ashton only laughed.
“Come on, we should get moving.” Ashton said. “Follow behind me, don’t get too far away.”
Before Eli could say anything, Ashton had changed, his wrap on the ground, and was off.
He yawned, before changing himself, and following after.
Ashton was fast, but Eli could easily keep up. It helped being smaller than most wolves. At least that’s what Mama said. He didn’t have many to compare himself to, though, if he went off of Ashton, then yes, he was considerably small.
Mama said it was a good thing, though. It was easier to get away, and to scooch into smaller spaces, if there was a need.
Oh, crap.
He lost Ashton.
Damn.
Well, that was what he got for getting distracted.
Eli slowed to a trot, sniffing the ground for Ashton’s scent. He found it, and then was off again, making sure he was following behind.
After a while of running, he still hadn’t caught up to the other wolf.
Of course, he thought, sitting, his tail swishing in an aggravated motion. When Ashton figured out that he wasn’t anywhere near him, he’d think Eli was slow, or stupid. Or both.
But Eli wasn’t slow, in either sense… he was just easily confused, and distracted.
Damn.
Maybe he could find a deer on his own? But no, that would be wasteful, wouldn’t it? Especially if Ashton had found one as well.
What to do, what to do.
Wait?
Yeah, that seemed like the best option. He wasn’t going to try to chase down Ashton. Hopefully the white wolf would find out that Eli wasn’t behind him anymore, might even think to backtrack a little.
But Eli was getting bored!
…
Maybe he could take a little nap?
Yeah, that sounded good.
Eli jerked awake, his head turning from side to side, his eyes still to blurry to find what had woken him.
“Well, looky what we got here?” Eli heard from above him. He looked up, large brown eyes settling on a naked man standing not five feet away.
For a moment, he’d thought it was Ashton, but the farther he looked up, the more he knew that it wasn’t, and the more nervous he got.
Brown hair. Not Ashton. And, well, other… certain… parts of the man’s anatomy… No.
A wind blew his way, bringing the other man’s scent to him. It was a familiar smell, in a sense. He was from Ashton’s pack, Eli could tell.
Eli knew he should run. But he wasn’t on the other’s territory; Ashton wouldn’t lead him there, unless he was malicious.
But still, running would be rude, and Mama hated it when he was rude.
So, with that thought in mind, he changed, turning into his human form, so that it would be better to communicate with the other.
He was about to greet him, when a shiver wracked through his body, and not a particularly good one.
“Well, aren’t you just a beauty.” Eli heard, the man had a deep, rough voice.
The man came closer, and Eli had the thought that he should probably get off the ground.
Eli did, backing up slowly as the man continued to walk forward, an odd gleam in his eye. Oh, damn, Eli really should have run.
“You got that scent, you know? I checked. Followed it, right? Went right across our territory. Might have been a couple days ago. Ashton’s area? I could smell him, too. He around here somewhere? Doubt he gave you the punishment you deserve. Too softhearted, that one.” The man said, not letting up once for Eli to answer.
Before he knew it, Eli was backed up against a tree.
…Wait, punishment?
Their was a domineering look about the man, and the scent that came off of him all but froze Eli in place.
“Real pretty, you are.” The man continued, looking the smaller wolf up and down, a smirk on his face. “Even Ashton couldn’t stay away, could he?”
Eli emitted a low whine from his throat, trying to sidle to the side, around the tree, but the wolf only followed him around.
“And your scent.” The man said, the last word sounding almost like a moan. “Ripe for the picking.”
All the stories that Mama had told him came flooding into his mind, the bad ones. The ones that scared him so much when he was younger, that he could barely sleep at night.
He didn’t know what to do, his mind beginning to go blank, except for the thought that he needed to get out of here, or something bad would happen.
He whined again. Where was Ashton when he needed him?
“Not surprised he hasn’t made a move yet. He’s too good for anyone.” At first, Eli wasn’t sure who he was talking about, before he realized that it was about Ashton. “Too special to take a mate. Not even that.”
Why did he keep talking about Ashton?
A hand touched his face, and Eli shut his eyes, feeling the hand go down, touching his cheek, to his neck, to his chest.
He willed his body to move, but no matter how badly he wanted to get away, he remained frozen in place, his eyes shut tight, and small, fear induced shivers running through his body. The lust radiating off the man all but dulled his senses, like Mama had told him would happen.
He tilted his head up, bearing his neck out of instinct, but it only seemed to encourage the man, as he leaned in closer, pressing his nose against the smaller wolf’s neck, breathing in heavily.
“So nice,” he heard muttered against him. A gasp was forced out of Eli as the other wolf rammed his naked hips into the wolf’s, pressing the other’s erection against him and trapping it between their stomachs. His heart pounded hard, feeling like it was about burst out of his chest at any moment, and he wanted nothing more than to call out, to try and call for Mama, for Ashton, for anyone that would save him, but the fear kept him from doing so.
“Bet you’re gonna feel real good.”
Eli let out another pitiful whine, willing for some miracle to happen that would get him out of this predicament.
No luck.
The man nudged his hips up, pushing the red wolf harder against the tree, the bark scraping against his skin hard enough to leave marks.. He grabbed Eli’s arms and held them above his head, not that the red wolf could resist the feel of a dominant, despite the fact that he didn’t want this, and felt no pleasure as the other continued to rub against him.
The man grunted into Eli’s ear, before pulling the two of them away from the tree a few feet, before shoving back, forcing Eli to fall on his back, hitting the ground with a dull thud, and Eli cried out as debris lodged into his injured back.
The bigger wolf was moving to lay himself down on top of Eli. Before he could, however, a flash from the left, rammed into him, and pinned him against the tree.
It took Eli a minute to realize that it was Ashton pinning the man, a harsh growl that made even him shiver, before the white wolf slammed a fist into the brunet’s face.
There was an audible crack, before the man went down, Ashton panting harshly as he stood over the now unconscious wolf, before turning towards Eli.
He moved closer, kneeling next to the red wolf, who finally sat up while Ashton was dealing with the other wolf. He felt arms go around him, and Ashton laid his head on Eli’s shoulder, the red wolf quivering slightly.
“You okay?” Eli heard, but he didn’t answer.
“I’m so sorry, Eli,” Ashton went on, “If I had known that another wolf would be out here, I never would have brought you out here.”
Eli mumbled something unintelligible under his breath, mostly just nonsense, as Ashton nuzzled into his neck.
“I mean it,” Ashton looked up, a hand touching Eli’s chin to turn his head gently, so that he could look him in the eyes. “I don’t even know how he found your scent. It was in my area, and he knows better than to go there. Fuck!”
Eli finally found his voice. “It’s not your fault.” He said quietly. As much as he wanted to blame someone, he knew it couldn’t be Ashton, it really wasn’t his fault, and the last think he wanted was for the white wolf to think that it was. Ashton had saved him. Wasn’t that enough?
“You didn’t know.”
“That doesn’t mean anything. At the least, I could have warned you. Could of told you the possibility of another wolf from my pack finding you. Hell, I should have just kept a better eye on you.”
Eli only shook his head, but didn’t say anything else. Ashton continued to hold him, and soon he started to relax into the embrace, wanting nothing more than to just stay there forever. It felt so safe there.
But he knew that he had to leave. Mama would be worried, and if she ever found out about what happened, Eli would never be let out of the house, though at the moment, he wasn’t sure if he’d ever want to go off into the woods again.
And besides, it would probably be a good idea to get away from the unconscious wolf, lest he wake up and try to do what he was originally planning in the first place. Well, maybe not. The wolf might be a little more preoccupied with what looked to be a broken nose. It sure was bleeding bad.
That, and he really, really wanted to take a bath. He didn’t think he’d ever felt dirtier in his life than he did now. Nor had he ever wanted a bath more.
He tried to get up, but Ashton kept him down.
“I need to get up.” Eli told him, receiving a sigh, but was finally reluctantly let go.
He almost dropped himself into Ashton’s lap, just to get him to put his arms around him again. Eli didn’t like when they weren’t, at least not right now.
But, right now, he needed that bath.
That, and he was still completely naked, and starting to get a little uncomfortable with the skin against skin contact with Ashton. It didn’t feel like it had with the other man. With the white wolf, it kind of felt good, and the last thing Eli needed right now was to completely embarrass himself, and scare off Ashton forever.
He walked the way towards where he knew there was water, Ashton following slowly behind, until they got to what Eli was searching for.
The white wolf crouched near the river, the large rocks lining the water giving Eli adequate privacy as he washed himself. He had a feeling that Ashton wasn’t about to let him out of his sight.
I can’t write good fear scenes. Ugh.
Chapter‘s longer than usual, huh? Well, I guess it should be. I really need to start writing longer chapters. I know how much I hate it when the chapters are so short. :p
Anyway, please review! I loves them.
