Secrets and Tragedy
I have hired a young agressive assistant to help Andrew. His name is Richard Ashton. Ryanne obviously approves of my choice. It looks like Bryce might have some competition for her affections. Tristan is home from Engineering School for the summer. His first day back he came staight over to see Jamie. Richard had come by to pick up some papers from me and Ryanne had gotten the silly idea to make Tristan jealous by playing a trick on Jamie.
"Richard, this is a friend of Jamie's Tristan Llewellyn." Ryanne said, "Tristan, this is Richard Ashton, he is managing ThunderStar Enterprises with Andrew and has taken quite an interest in your Jamie."
"I am glad to see that you were not bored while I was away." Tristan remarked, "I will see you around sometime, maybe if you are lucky Jamison."
Tristan had taken off angerly, but it had started a serious friction between Jamie and Ryanne for the stunt Ryanne pulled. It took Ryanne two weeks to thaw Tristan and Jamie out. It was a hard lesson but one Ryanne needed to learn. Serenity is near being complete. I am now programming her with Veronica's recordings and likeness. Enough to form a personality base and voice banter. I can not bear to make her too much like Ronnie. Serenity is finally complete and she has become much more than I had originally intended. She can create holographic images of anything. She could be a very dangerous tool if she is allowed to fall into the wrong hands. She must be kept a secret. I now know I will never complete the patents but I know Andrew can. The doctors say that I do not have long to live. My brother and Daryien are the only ones who know. I have not told anyone else, not even my kids. I continue with the preparations for my family's future. Serenity is my most important gift to them. She will be a mother, friend, teacher and guide all rolled into one. With Andrew's help, I have completed one last project. Two pairs of special earrings for Jamie. I hope to give the main pair, a pair of heart shaped to her personally. If not, I have programmed Serenity to reveal her exsistance to Jamie and Randall, I know they will use her wisely.
He closed his journal then looked to his brother. They both knew the time was drawing near. It was almost time to let go of the persona known as Robert Randall McKagan and return to his main persona of Thor Thunderis, the King of Thunderia and Galaxia.
"No matter what happens Brother." Andrew said, "They will always be protected, so too will your legacy be. They will do you proud, I know they will. When the time is right, Knight Thunder and Knight Shadow will be revealed."
"It is time to come home, Thunderis." Kyiandra replied, "You do not need to worry we will alway be here to run interference for the children should they need us. None of them will ever be alone if any of us can help it. You have done all that you can to secure their future. Please my love, come home."
One week later....
The day was dark and stormy as a group of people huddled together near the open grave of Robert McKagan. Among the mourners who were also family, there were also partners and employees of ThunderStar Enterprises. As the group moved away from the gravesite, Randall and Jamie remained. He could feel his sister's heart was breaking although she continued to remain silent. She was never one to voice her feelings in trying times like this. Putting his arm around her shoulders, Randall turned her away from the grave and began leading her to the family car then they were stopped by someone. Dresed in a somber black three piece suit, the rain wetting his equally black hair, Richard Ashton spoke to Jamie.
"You and your family have my deepest sympathies and condolences in this Jamie." Richard said, "Your father was a good man and he will be seriously missed. If I can be of any help do not hesitate to call on me."
"My sister has all of the help that she needs without you Mr. Ashton so take your offer and shove it." Randall snapped leading his sister away from the vulture he knew Richard Ashton was. Randall knew that Richard Ashton could not be trusted because he knew what kind of creep Richard Ashton really was. The twins had each gotten half of the family company as it was outlined in their father's will with Andrew looking out for the financial situation. They were also left the ThunderStar Foundation which was a home for foster children. Once inside the safe confines of the car, Jamie finally broke down. Hard sobs racked her body as she tried to comprehend what happened.
"I should have been there Randall." Jamie sobbed, "I should have been able to have prevented it from happening. I should have been able to stop it. It just is not fair. First Mom and now dad? I just do not get it."
"There was nothing that you could have done, sis." Randall declared, "You can not blame yourself for it. It was his time to go and no one but God above could have prevented it. We have to move on or our parents legacy goes up in flames."
Jamie knew that her brother was right but it would still be a long time before she could accept her parents being gone and never would return. Maybe a night scouting the city would get her mind off of it. She would not tell anyone what was going on. She planned to dive head first into work at ThunderStar Enterprises in order to keep the family legacy alive. Once back at ThunderStar House, she went up to her room, kicked off her shoes and prepared for the night ahead. Her brother and her foster siblings were the only ones besides Andrew who knew about Knight Thunder and Shadow because they were all Knights as well. They had been training to harness and control their abilities for years knowing they would have to be used in the future. As the years went on, criminals peddled their evils all over the city. Where police and other law enforcement agencies were not able to touch them, the Knights were able to. Deep in the heart of the city, dressed from shoulder to foot, Jamie, in the form of Knight Thunder stood on the roof of one of the tallest buildings in the city. She had followed a former highschool friend to this point and as her cloak blew in the breeze, she scanned the city that had been her family's home for years for the man who was one of her best friends since they were children and who had haunted her dreams even after he had left her and her family behind all of those years ago. Tristan Michael Llewellyn, a man through his alter ego had captured the women's hearts with his stunning good looks and beautiful body build. True he was gorgeous for an illusion; but could they not see past his good looks and see his personality? This was not the kind of man who let the popularity of his fame go to his head like most others. Tristan, as his alter ego showede a side of himself that his fellow charmers found disgraceful and unmacho. Jamie did not think it was disgraceful though. She found that she liked the combination of the rugged bad boy and sensitive angel concepts this man displayed. On top of all that, he was the classic, old-fashioned, and hopeless romantic that women went wild for over the years. She had followed him looking out for him and decided that if she ever confronted him, she would do so in disquise. She had taken her dreams and turned them into stories dubbing them the Knight Thunder Chronicles, giving the alter ego as the Knight of Thunder came to be called, the name of Reimeiko Thunderis and adopting the hero as her cover since she seemed to be able to harness her powers, abilities, and magic. As Knight Thunder's ensemble, she chose dark blue and purple from the low-cut pointed shouldered, short skirt uniform to the royal blue gauntlets, high heeled boots and a gold winged tiara mask which served the purpose. Her long dark hair was loose and free down her back. She was snapped out of her thoughts by her fellow Knights checking in.
"I hate to say this but it seems as though the city is unusually quiet tonight." Falcon said, "We could ber barking up the wrong tree as they have said."
"I know that he is here, Kenneth I can feel it." Thunder replied, "So far everywhere He has gone trouble constantly seems to follow him and his alter ego everywhere he goes. I can not reveal to him what I know because I do not have proof to back up my claim that he has a series of spies in his ranks."
"I just hope that you are not biting off more than you can chew Sis." Shadow groaned, "I would hate for us to be on the receiving end of your boyfriend's anger if we happen to be wrong."
Whatever Jamie was going to say in response was interupted by her lightning strike warning going off. Without waiting for her brother and fellow Knights to catch on, she transformed using her power and took to the sky. Over the last few years alone, Knight Thunder and the Galactic Knights had become legends in the crimefighting field. At present only Andrew, the Genesis Knights, and the Llewellyns knew the Knights and their human forms were one and the same. Using her instincts and longtime connection, she zeroed in on Tristan by his emotions.
"So much for a quiet night on the town." Shadow groaned, "Thunder, your boyfriend's alter ego is with a dark haired woman and they are surrounded by some serious trouble."
"I just noticed," Thunder said, "I am going to need the back up of all of the Knights as soon as it is humanly possible." Knight Thunder noticed six massively built criminals standing against Tristan in his alter ego and a dark haired heavy set woman she recognized as Diana Kaye Wyatt. Something about the woman gave Knight Thunder the creeps, but to her better judgement, she said nothing. Reaching behind her, she grabbed her bow and lined up a series of arrows. Shooting off her warnings around them, she scattered them long enough to land between them and the two they were after. She stood ready to fight.
"Did your parents not ever teach you that six against two is not what is called fair odds?" Knight Thunder demanded, "Now Shadow, Star, Falcon, Storm, Orion, Rogue, Aries, Raven, Helios and I Knight Thunder are about to teach you boys a lesson in manners like it or not we are about to rumble."
