To Those There Are Consequences

To Those There Are Consequences

Green eyes clashed with pumpkin as Kade warily looked from Gabrielle to the bloody figure in the distance, “What about…that?” It came out almost as a whisper but Gabrielle still heard it, turning around as she was now fully dressed in thigh cutoff tattered dark blue jeans with brown hiking boots on and a teal blue v neck short slit sleeved tunic that stopped below her butt, she took in the too still figure. Pulling a tie off her wrist Gabrielle threw her hair into a messy bun, her bangs the only thing that escaped the hold of the stretchy tie; it was a known sign of her’s, though it was done completely unconsciously it had meant the start of some serious focus work. “Kadrelyn, go back with my parents make sure my family is alright. You’re much too young to setting your eyes on what the dark powers can do to a person who can’t defend against them.” Kade opened her mouth to retort that accusation on being too young but when Eirian let out a howl of distress she eagerly turned to insure the men that they were indeed safe from the power wielding demons.

Gabrielle moved in a cat like fashion circling the bloody being while making mental notes on what was bleeding and where places looked like it had internal damage done. She couldn’t feel dark or light powers coming from the figure but from the curves shown by the black ripped dress shirt and slacks this was male and a well off one at that, now how he came in contact with a bunch of demons was beyond this priestess’s knowledge but they did some serious damage either way. With a deep sigh Gabrielle kneeled down slowly pushing the man till he flipped over, then once again eyed up his body determining the extent on the damages done. Putting her ear to his mouth and nose Gabrielle found the man was indeed still alive and barely breathing, it almost sounded as if some kind of liquid was in his lungs. Getting up she walked over to a fallen weeping willow and pulled off several branches, tilting the man up she began sticking them at the man’s back before allowing him to lay back down on them. The branches gently kept his body at an angle allowing the blood to run off his body instead of creating a puddle around him. His chest was a battered mess with his ribs broken in many places front and back, a few may have even punctured some arteries and even his lungs with the way he was breathing, his collar bone was a compound fracture as it sluggishly oozed as if his throat was slit. Cuts littered front and back and dirt was caught in all the wounds as were thorns piercing his body. His legs were bloody from being dragged and bruised badly but they’d heal fine if no infection caught to them, his arms were a little worse off as his left forearm was punctured with what seemed to of been with a small dagger but it just nicked bone and hadn’t gone through. Lastly his head had a large deep gash going from his swollen eye to the back of his head and his other cheek was bruised, he was so dirty and blood splattered Gabrielle couldn’t make out the color of his hair.

Sighing at the extensive task at hand the priestess straddled his body by his hips yet didn’t put any weight on him or even touched him for that matter; her hands hovered over his heart as her eyes closed while she fell deep into a healing meditation chant. Gabrielle’s powers slowly rose up and directed themselves into healing energy, instead of the power being the golden lightening she was known for in these regions it was shimmering reddish purple, she knew she was pushing her own energy by doing this much after fighting but there was no choice in this matter. “You’re going to cost me big time male, you better be worth it.” Gabrielle could hear the startled gasp of Kade when the first bones let out sickening cracks as the healing process began; the one crack was only the beginning. To have use great amount of power brought great punishment upon the body of the holder, it was something people with low power didn’t even know of never had to know of the caution needed in using full strength. Right now Gabrielle couldn’t afford to think of the consequences with the man dying each passing second she didn’t stop the bleeding. Series of crunches and squelching noises echoes the field while Gabrielle worked on putting the man back together little by little. It was almost two agonizing hours later before Kade placed her hands on the older priestess’s back snapping her out of the trance, “Gabrielle…I don’t think you can heal him any more. It must be up to his will if he will survive.” Gabrielle turned seeing the dim blue fires burning ever so slightly in the green eyes of Kade. “You’re right…I have pushed myself past the limits and am on the verge of collapsing, fetch Eirian and older brother Parees, tell them to bring this man into the healing room and lock it tight.” Struggling to stand Gabrielle had lost the strength to keep from sitting on the man over an hour ago but with all the healing she poured into his body she was sure he was in better shape to be sat on than her.

Kade shook her head, “I’m helping you first.” Grabbing the older girl’s forearm Kade hauled Gabrielle up and allowed her body to be used as a crutch while they walked back to the family who was closer than the house was at this position. Getting within a few yards Gabrielle’s father; Logan, swept forward taking his daughter bridle style up into his muscular arms allowing her to rest against his broad and yet hairy chest, unknowingly easing her strength off of trying to keep her head from wobbling like a newborn babe. “Gabrielle wants Eirian and Parees to take that man and lock him in her healing room until she is ready for him. Don’t know whos side he’s really on and she didn’t share” Kade sighed rubbing her shoulder, Gabrielle’s eyes were sunken in and her body looked as if she was just skin and bones but the hidden muscles hidden under that flesh made her body weigh a lot more then looks let on that was for sure. Gabrielle’s mother, Mila, nodded still a bit shook up from killing the small boy only hours ago as she made her way to the neighbors nearby, her sons had hurried off over there to gush with the boys their own age on what just happened, the mother there had six boys and three girls all younger then twenty but older then five. Gabrielle was the only girl in the flock of boys within her own house, Parees; twenty-two, her at nineteen then Eirian; sixteen, Dontch; fourteen, lastly there was Tatches at only the delicate but rotten age of ten. Within moments of Mila having entered the neighbors candle lit home all four boys came out with the older two boys of the neighbor’s. Kade let out a squeal of shock as a gasping breath came from Gabrielle before her eyes rolled back and her body collapsed sending the younger girl a skip away from pure panic, if it wasn’t for Mila striding forward and shouting orders to the men, hmm she must of gotten over the killing.

This had been the only time Kade had seen Gabrielle’s mother conduct her authority in a way that made EVERYONE obey without a second of hesitation, within those moments Kadrelyn saw where Gabrielle’s inner strength came from as the caramel colored haired woman’s eyes, which were more of a deep rusty color then the pumpkin that her daughter had, flared to life with hints of the power she once and maybe still could hold, within their depths. It wasn’t the same frightening lightening that was Gabrielle it was more like crashing waves, what was with this region and their blonde hair, orange eyed people? Shaking her head having been lost in thought far too long Kade focused back in and ran to catch up to Logan; Gabrielle’s father. Reaching the door Kade jogged ahead opening it for the man and stalled looking to the boys hauling the strange person at the edge of the forest up reluctantly, Eirian was looking around the field for anything left behind with the second to oldest neighbor boy doing the same. Dontch and Tatches were coming up toward Kade with Mila in tow that had the bow back in her white knuckled hands. Lastly she looked towards Parees and the oldest neighbor boy which she believed was nineteen like Gabrielle as they lifted the now dried blooded man by his wrists and ankles as if touching him that much was disgusting. Could they feel something she didn’t? Staring down at her hourglass Kade couldn’t help the tear pricks at the edges of her eyes, it had been too easy getting a hold of her true powers and pulling them forward, glancing up at Logan’s back she felt the need to pray for her own safety. Dontch and Tatches muttered their thanks as they walked in but Mile stopped and gave a mothering smile at Kade, “You did extremely well. I’m sure Brielle will be thrilled with you when she has time to recover. Let’s pray no other demons come until then.” Sighing the older woman walked in going up the stairwell after her husband while the boys had gone down the hall to their ground floor rooms. Parees and the boy hung around to the other side of the house refusing to take the man in the family entrance, with that Kade allowed the door to slam shut and self lock itself while she went up the stairwell to see to Gabrielle’s healing needs with her mother.

They didn’t allow her within Gabrielle’s room for three days after the fight, she hadn’t woken up once since she past out on her father Kade couldn’t believe that this was the work of draining yourself past the limitations of one’s body. Mila never looked older then when she came out of Gabrielle’s room after changing bedding and her clothing, every time Kade asked she was turned down from seeing her hourglass teacher. Now she waited sitting across the hall in front of the door, knees to her chest waiting it out like the rest of the family. Mile came by and nodded towards Kade, sitting down a tray of food for the young hourglass child before unlocking Gabrielle’s door and stepping in, Kade got a glance on sunflower hair on a bed but her face was turned away. The room was dark like the curtains were drawn and there were shiny looking orbs orbiting around the bed and some dull looking ones cracked, still on the floor. Her sleep deprived brain knew what that meant but couldn’t connect enough to understand why they were there. Twenty minutes had passed before Mila came back out and locked the door behind her as she was looking as if she aged ten years within that room. “Not today, Kadrelyn. Tomorrow may be a new day, go run along outside.” With a sigh she faintly walked away with the bed bundle in her arms her head tilted down in thought not looking back to see if Kade listened or not. Kade stood up dusting off the pink no sleeved sundress she picked out for the day and the pale yellow long sleeved short length sweater pulled over it. She wanted answers and today she’d get some, with that in mind she made her way to the locked healing room three rooms away from Gabrielle at the edge of the house, no bedrooms were anywhere near this healing room and Kade didn’t ask why. On the molding was a nail with the key, they trusted she wouldn’t go in a possible dangerous room but not to leave Gabrielle’s room alone. Curiosity killed the cat but SHE wasn’t a cat so did it count? Nah, with a smirk she unlocked the door and headed in, shutting the heavy door behind her.

It was dark inside this room also so first thing was first, Kade open the curtains so she could see. Turning around Kade discovered the man was lying on a lightweight bed that looked a lot like one you’d find in a low equipped hospital, he wasn’t tied down or anything and still had his blood soaked clothes on. Had anyone even been checking on him? Didn’t seem to matter as he was also still asleep a lot like Gabrielle, finding no need to fear a knocked out man Kade went to the bed side and over looked the man. He has shaggy deep red hair, an odd color already. Taking a cloth Kade went to the sink and soaked it in warm water before heading back to the man and began wiping the dried blood slowly while watching his eyes for any signs of waking before she resumed her innocent looking. The hair was definitely deep red and his skin was a mix of caramel and gold coloring, brushing back his hair she froze, his left ear was pointed like an elf’s but the back of it was covered in a soft downy fur that matched his hair making it hard to point out while his right ear was a normal humans ear. “What does this mean?” Mumbling more to her own self then anything else Kade peeled open an eye getting the sight of a cherry blossom colored eye with a golden pupil staring back. Never in her life did she meet anyone with a different color pupil unless blind before it was almost exciting. Going back over to the sink Kade rinsed out the cloth then made her way back over to the man and started with his feet, they were dirty and disgusting but fully human much to her relief. Humming softly the cleaning was taking her mind off of Gabrielle for a few moments; Kade couldn’t believe she didn’t think of doing any of this before now. Absently Kade didn’t realize she had begun to speak out loud about her change during the fight as she went back to rinse out the cloth once more and started on his chest. “I wonder how my life will change now with these powers and no place to go. What will Gabrielle do with me…what COULD she do with me?” Growling frustrated Kade closed her eyes as she rubbed the man’s neck, they snapped open when she felt a shift under her hand.

"Woman's destiny is to be wanton, like the bitch, the she-wolf; she must belong to all who claim her."* His husky voice was diluted with the blood that was now currently dripping out of the corner of his mouth, slowly he turned over using all his strength to pull his arms and legs up to be standing on all fours like a dog. Kade squeaked while scrambling backwards to get out of reach of what was supposed to be a knocked out man, she was in deep shit if he could move that much! He made a lunge at Kade and while in mid air fingers arched to do some damage, a broken voice hissed out that almost made Kade cry on the spot. “LAY!” He let out a strangled cry as his hurting body was plummeted to the unyielding cherry stained wood floor. Kade let out her own strangled cry as her eyes got a look at what Mila had been hiding for the last three days. Gabrielle’s body looked as if something was eating her inside out, her eyes were bruised and sunken in and parts of her body had huge bruises on them while her skin was almost translucent as it stretched too thin to cover the body. All she wore to cover her body was loose boxers and a breast binding instead of a bra and panties, they must of pushed too hard against her and bruised the skin as Kade could see were the straps of a bra once lay on her skin, yet there was also a bruise on where the hourglass and chain lay on the same skin. “Gabrielle!” Leashing the conflicting urges to hug the girl to death, puke AND cry at what happened to her Kade instead turned her attention back to the man cursing herself for being weak. Cherry-blossom eyes turned to where Gabrielle stood and all aggressiveness just seemed to leak out of his body, “I’m sorry…I didn’t mean…I’m SORRY!” Whimpering loudly fat tears began rolling down his face as he curled into a ball shaking. “Kade, you must not come in here…it’s dangerous.” Her voice sounded as if on a thinning string ready to break, the way her eyes seemed to pull Kade in moved her to come closer to the older but so much more fragile woman. “I’m soorrrry…pllleassse for-for-for-forgive me.” Gabrielle shook her head; the once bouncy sunflower hair was greasy straw from being unwashed for days. “SLEEP.”

A/N!!!!!

Disclaimer – Marquis deSade’s quote isn’t mine ^.^ but it worked so well with what I was trying to portray I just went with it.

His works include novels, short stories, plays, and political tracts; in his lifetime some were published under his own name, while others appeared anonymously and deSade denied being their author. He is best known for his erotic novels, which combined philosophical discourse with pornography, depicting bizarre sexual fantasies with an emphasis on violence, criminality, and blasphemy against the Catholic Church.
