The Past
Because I have taken forever and still can’t bring my thoughts on the actual story, I thought I would write something that might have something to do with it but wasn’t originally going in… It’s just on Rumari’s past.
~!~~~~~~~~~!~His memories~!~~~~~~~~~!~
“Mommy?” Golden eyes stared up at a tall, purple eyed, silver haired woman.
“Yes baby?”
“Am I weird?”
“What!? Why do you ask this? No darling, you are not weird. You are unique, as is everyone, but you are definitely not weird. Why?” The woman was shocked at the question. Who would think her child was weird?
Rumari looked up at his mother with a tinge of sadness in his young eyes. “When I was in class today the kids cawed (called) me weird or a fweak cause I’m tawer (taller) and stwonger but younger than the others. They said I shouldn’t go to my cwasses anymore and be the weak submissive I am. Should I momma, am I weak because I’m submissive?”
Jeanne felt her chest starting to hurt at the pain her child was feeling. No one should be judged or called things because they are different. “No my beautiful child, you shouldn’t quit. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Next time someone says something like this just smile keep on going. Eventually it will start to hurt less but until it does you can come to me and talk or cry on my shoulder till the hurt goes away. Okay?” Rumari nodded and hugged his mother. She pulled away, looked at her son again, and said, “It was the General’s son wasn’t it?” His eyes widened and he looked at the floor, giving her, her answer. “I knew it! Damn, if I wasn’t just a cook I would beat this man till he couldn’t walk just to show his son that his father is always wrong and they shouldn’t mess with us!” She exclaimed then realized what she said. “Never say that word. You got me,” he nodded,” Good. So what do you want to eat for lunch?”
~~~~~A Years Later~~~~~
“Mom! Momma! Where are you mother?” He looked everywhere around the castle and couldn’t find her. “Pwease momma, answer me!” Rumari was frantic. He was supposed to meet his mother in the kitchen but she wasn’t there. He knew instantly that something was wrong, she never missed a meeting with her son. Ever! A noise off to the left had his head whipping and feet moving towards it. “Mother?” he whispered, suddenly scared.
“You’ll pay for daring to hit the king’s general!”
“Someone will figure out that you were the one who killed me and then you’ll be thrown behind bars. What will that teach your son? Alorey, he will think you’re a very bad person for killing an innocent woman. Do you want that?” Rumari looked around the doorframe extremely frightened at the scene. His mother was on the ground with thin lines of blood flowing from shallow cuts on her arms. The general had cuts on his face, a little deeper than the ones on Jeanne’s arms but still shallow, with a hand mark on the same cheek from being slapped. His mother had a sword at her throat and was still talking very smooth and unafraid. Rumari was slightly proud of his mother for trying to get out of this situation but the crazed look the general had still made him fearful.
“Ha, you crazy woman, do you really think I wouldn’t have a plan to get out of this. What would your child think, knowing his mother was a traitor and tried to kill the man who was trying to stop her. He would probably be devastated. I found evidence in your room, letters from enemy lords telling them of our battle plans. What a shame, you are such a beautiful woman. You could have done well as a whore instead of a miserable cook.”
“My son will know the truth and that is all that matters to me. Yours will turn out the same as you and I hope you both live to see each other be destroyed for all the wrong you have done.” Jeanne knew that she had pushed his insanity further by bringing up his son, and she knew what would happen next. She was just happy to feel her son’s presence by the door. At least he knew that she didn’t do the things Alorey said.
Rumari’s heart was beating so fast and loud, he thought it might jump out of his chest or give away his location. He tried to calm down a little but knew he couldn’t. Not with his mother’s life on the line.
Alorey was furious. He unsheathed his sword from his left hip and put the tip against Jeanne’s chest. He pulled it back and thrust it into her right lung near the heart. “I hope your bastard child learns his place as a submissive, and learns it the hard way. I could always throw him in the whore house. He could learn faster if I put him with the beaten ones.” He glared at her bleeding body with disdain and left. He completely missed Rumari against the wall next to the door frame.
Once Alorey was out of his sight, Rumari ran to his mother’s side. “Momma! Pwease don’t die mother. You’re aw (all) I have weft. Pwease!” His tears were blinding him and sobs racked his small frame.
“You’ll be… Okay… I knew this… Was going to happen… So… I talked to the king. He… Said you could… Start training as a… Soldier. I love you… My beautiful son. I will… Always… Want some grandbabies… and love you,” She gasped. Her eyes closed, breathing slowed to a halt, and went limp. All that was heard from that room was a broken dragon, roaring for its loss, an inner demon that would never grow up, despite the age of the body.
~~~~Enough for today~~~~~
