Chapter 5: Back to the beginning
Chapter 5: Back to the Beginning
Matt watched silently as Warren disappeared out of the bathroom. As soon as the vampire was gone, Matt allowed his legs to give out. Slowly he slid to the floor, not caring about the pain the movement caused him. He’d known he was in trouble when he first woke up, but now, hearing the vampire confirm his thoughts out loud seemed to confirm all of Matt’s darkest thoughts. All the boys from The Doll’s House had been brought here; they had been tortured for three to four days, raped and abused then finally killed. Matt closed his eyes, how long had he been here? Hours? days? An icy fear slid over his skin, gripping his heart. Either way, he had around 48 hours left to live, if that. Slowly Matt stood looking around the dark room; he needed to find a way out of this place while he could...
Warren walked down the darkening hallway where there were no candles alight. The residents didn’t need them. He was confused by Ezra’s latest choice in pet. Matthew was not beautiful, nor was he an ‘unwanted.’ Taking Matthew was a risk, something his Master had never done before and always scolded others for. Before this boy, it had always been pretty, homeless boys who would never be missed. Warren had tried but just couldn’t understand his Master’s actions. Stopping, Warren pictured the boy again; plain green eyes, brown hair. There was nothing there to explain Ezra’s erratic actions, not that he could see anyway. So why take that boy? Warren had a burning desire to ask Ezra, to question his reasons, but it was not the place of a servant to question a master now was it?
Matt sat back down on the floor breathing hard; he was wearing the same clothes he’d worn at the club. He had found others but he wanted nothing to do with anything in this place. The room was trashed, rugs where pulled up, cupboards opened and their contents spilled across the floor. Still Matt had found nothing that he could use as a weapon. As Matt turned away from the closet he saw that the thin metal rail that held the cloths was loose, Matt wrapped his hands around it and with three sharp tugs the rail came away in his hands. Well at least I have something I can hit him with. Matt ran a shaking hand through his damp hair, trying to organize his erratic thoughts. He needed to find out where he was and then how to get out of this place.
Matt knew that he needed help most. Someone who could tell him everything he needed to know and to keep the vampires out of the way. He knew his chances of finding help was limited so he let his thoughts return to the vampires. Ezra had kidnapped him, raped him, but seemed to have some confused notion that he cared about Matt, whereas Warren was as cold as ice and as much as a mystery to Matt as life itself. Matt took a deep breath. He knew there was no way he could get Warren to help him and asking Ezra to let him go was a sure way to piss the vampire off. Somehow he would have to trick the vampire. Matt returned to the heavy draped windows and again pulled them open. The sky above was a deep midnight blue; the stars glowed as if on fire. Sadly this meant that Matt could see very little of his surroundings. He knew he couldn’t be too near the city as there were no other lights, no familiar sounds of cars or people, just a deafening eerie silence. Matt clenched his fists into the smooth velvet material, and started to turn from the window when he saw it. In the distance, shining like a beacon of hope was a tiny spark of light. Matt smiled as he saw that beacon, a plan slowly forming. It was risky and dangerous, but he had to try.
Ezra sat in the library letting the flames of the fire warm him. The flickering light chased the shadows around the room in an endless game of cat and mouse. Why did I do that to him? I knew he would be frightened, I knew he would fight but I still... Ezra let his mind draw up the image of Matthew, laid naked on the floor, tears rolling down his flawless face, large green eyes staring daggers of hate towards Ezra. Ezra stood as the door opened, Warren walked in. His eyes locked onto Ezra for a moment before turning away. ‘The boy’s awake.’ Ezra nodded, slowly he walked towards the other vampire, watching how the firelight danced and shimmered off his soft chestnut hair making the red highlights seem to glow. He was almost out for the door when Warren’s rich velvet voice called him back to the room.
‘Why did you take him master?’
Ezra slowly turned, his face was a careful blank mask as he faced Warren ‘do you question me my pet?’
Warren opened his mouth to speak, but stopped turning towards the fire, head bowed, ‘no my Master.’
Ezra walked back towards him, wrapping his arms around the smaller vampire’s waist, pulling him closer so he could feel the warmth of Warren’s back against his chest. He leant down so his lips gently caressed Warren’s ear. ‘Good, you know better then to question me, don’t you pet? I do not need to teach you again, do I?’
Ezra smiled as he felt the shudders that run through Warren’s body, memories of the past moving though him, ‘no master.’ Ezra couldn’t help but feel satisfied at hearing the slight hitch in Warren’s voice. So he still has a fear of me? Ezra let his tongue flick out over Warren’s ear, before turning and walking towards the door...
Matt had a plan. He was just waiting now on Ezra. He had straightened up the room and was now lying on the bed, his top on the floor, leaving his chest bare. Doubts began to form again, but he forced them back down. If his plan worked he would be free, if not, well he was going to die anyway, might as well be sooner rather then later. As that thought left his mind he heard the door creak and open to revel Ezra. Matt caught his breath. Whatever else Ezra was he was breathtaking. Ezra’s dark hair was pulled back from his pale face, leaving a few curls to tangle with the dark blue shirt that contrasted his startling ice blue eyes and tight black trousers fitted into old styled military boots. Matt turned his face away, forcing his breathing to stay even, pushing back at the panic that was gradually clawing at him.
Matt jumped, involuntarily, when he felt Ezra sit on the edge of the bed. The bed springs creaked forebodingly. Ezra reached a hand towards him, gently but with intent, turning Matt’s face towards him. Twin blue jewels stared into hurt green orbs. Matt could see the desire clearly written on each feature of the vampire’s face, he felt it in the way Ezra gently ran his thumb across his bottom lip. Matt closed his eyes and leant into the warmth of Ezra’s hand, slowly parting his lips. He forced his body to be calm but his insides screamed as panic and excitement rushed through him. It’s now or never, Matt thought to himself; let’s see if you can get this to work.
Ezra felt his body beginning to tighten with arousal as Matt’s eyes closed and his perfect full lips parted, leaving Ezra wanting to claim those sinful lips. Ezra reached out with his other hand and gently, carefully so not to alarm the other man, sliding it behind Matt’s head. He lifted him so that, finally, Matt’s face was only inches away from his own.
‘Matthew, my beloved, I apologise for what I did earlier, I do not deserve it but I beg for your forgiveness.’
Ezra felt Matt stiffen in his grasp, before opening his eyes. Matt placed his hands on Ezra’s chest pushing away from him a little. Ezra fought against the wave of possessiveness that washed over his body. He wanted nothing more then to take Matt here, now, but he knew that that would just frighten the boy more. He forced himself to wait.
‘...I...What are you going to do to me?’
Matt’s voice sounded so young to Ezra. He tried to turn away but Ezra kept a firm hand at the back of Matt’s head, fingers entwined within the damp curls. Ezra felt his chest tighten. Matt believed that he could kill him. Ezra wanted to laugh; no wonder the boy is so frightened of me.
‘Oh Matthew, what a dark mind you have, do you really think that I could harm you like that?’
Matt looked confused as Ezra pushed on, letting his voice become lower, softer, slowly pulling Matt closer to him with each word. ‘From the first moment I saw you Matthew, I knew you were the one, the person I had been searching for. I just wanted to be allowed to love you, and for you to love me in return.
Ezra placed a tender kiss on Matt’s lips, tasting the man who made his whole body burn with desire. His tongue slid across Matt’s lower lip, begging to be allowed to taste more of him. Matt seemed hesitant, but after a second, opened his mouth permitting Ezra to taste him deeply. Ezra heard himself moan as his tongue moved into Matt’s mouth. The boy tasted divine. To Ezra it was like taking the first sip of blood from a partner, a sweet taste that ensnared the senses and left you wanting more. He moved forward, pushing Matt back until he was resting on top of Matt. He felt Matt moan and arch up against him. Ezra moved lightly grinding his own hardening arousal against Matt. The way the boy gasped into his mouth nearly sent Ezra insane. His hands began to roam over the boy’s body, down his bare chest, along his delicate ribs down to the waistband of the jeans that encased those temping narrow hips and hid the rest of his desire from view. Ezra pulled back when he felt Matthew push against his chest, he looked down, seeing fear creeping gradually into the boy’s eyes.
‘Can we go somewhere else please? I can’t... not here.’
Matt turned his gaze away from Ezra staring at the floor where Ezra had taken him before. As he felt Ezra shift, Matt glanced up at him. Shame and guilt moved across the vampire’s face. As the vampire moved completely off him Matt felt his heart skip a beat.
‘Of course my love, we can go to my room if you wish?’
‘Can we... No... Yes your room is fine.’
Ezra’s hands gently cupped Matt’s face turning him to look him full in the face, ‘what beloved? Tell me.’
‘Can we go outside? I mean if it’s too much trouble...’ Matt let the sentence trail off. He felt Ezra’s muscles tense and could feel his gaze penetrate him. Matt began to panic as the seconds passed, shit he knows! He knows what I’m planning. I’m dead. Matt heard the deep rumble and then felt cold soft lips upon his own, ‘of course my love.’
Ezra pulled Matt off the bed and led him down the dark hallways and passages, through rooms that Matt was sure contained people hiding in the shadows, watching them as they passed. Matt pressed closer to Ezra, knowing that if this went wrong he’d never find his way back to the room. Ezra chuckled again, making Matt’s cheeks burn. He opened his mouth to say something but suddenly Ezra stopped and pushed open a door.
The garden was breathtaking, roses of every shade and colour encircled a large gazebo, which was lit only by tiny white and blue fairy lights. Matt felt his heart fall, there seemed to be no exit to the garden. But his mind was soon snapped back to Ezra, as he led him over to the gazebo. Ezra sat down on a wooden bench, tenderly pulling Matt onto his lap so that he straddled Ezra’s strong legs. Matt felt the blush creep into his cheeks at the feel of Ezra’s obvious arousal. Ezra leant forwards and began to place kisses along Matt’s neck and collarbone. Matt wrapped a hand around the back of Ezra’s neck, pushing himself against Ezra’s body, letting a soft moan slide from his lips. Ezra pulled him closer, trailing kisses down his body. Matt smiled and slowly, careful not to disturb the vampire, slid his hand down his leg and underneath his jeans. The metal railing from the bedroom was hidden there, held by his sock and shoe. He gradually slipped it out from underneath his trousers and taking a deep breath, plunged it deep into Ezra’s back.
Warren had not moved from the library watching the fire. Still trying to comprehend his master, when an animal like roar was heard from the garden.
‘MATTHEW!’
Warren practically flew down the dark hallways and burst into the garden. Ezra was laying in the gazebo, a thin metal rod sticking out of his back. Warren ran to his Master’s side and pulled him up; he could feel the rage pulsating off of Ezra. Ezra’s scarlet orbs stared into Warren, piecing his very soul. His words were filled with pure malice, ‘bring him back now!’ Warren did not wait but plunged into the darkness after the boy.
Matt kept running. He didn’t care about the way the thorns bit and tore into his shins or how the tree branches slashed at his face. He kept running. He had no idea of how far he had run or if there was anyone out here. He could barely see in the darkness but he pushed on, his breathing coming out in pained pants, his chest tight. He could see the sun was starting to rise, dawn drifted over the horizon. Vampires can’t be out in daylight, right? At least that’s what all the movies say.
Finally as Matt felt like his body couldn’t move any further, he saw it. A small gas station. His heart leapt. In front of the station were a large truck and a small pickup. Tears rolled down his face and relief flooded his body. He ran to the truck and banged on the door, after a few seconds a large man who looked like he’d fit in with the Hell’s Angels gang shoved open the door.
‘What the fuck’s your problem?’
‘Please sir, I need a ride to the nearest town, please, I’m a cop, I ...’
Matt was out of breath, cut, bleeding, sore and shaking. At that moment in time he would have done or given anything for a ride away from here. Something in his face must have told the man that he really needed help as the trucker held out a hand.
‘Sure kid, get back here at 6:15 sharp, and you can have a ride...but I ain’t gonna wait for ya.’
Matt nodded and walked to the gas station. To the left he saw a small restroom and ducked inside. Once inside he finally let his pain and exhaustion take him over, slipping into blessed blackness...
Matt watched silently as Warren disappeared out of the bathroom. As soon as the vampire was gone, Matt allowed his legs to give out.
