~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dryden limped down the hall, Razz caught how he would stop and lean against the wall. “Dryden, will you come here a minute.”
Dryden looked towards him, “Why?”
“I need your help.” Shrugging Dryden followed him into a cluttered room. There were boxes full of old books, knickknacks, weapons, and some unknown items. “Sit right there.” he pointed towards an old chair, “Don’t worry it won’t break, if it can hold me it can hold you.” He added after Dryden gave him a wary look. Sitting down he watched as Razz started shifting though the boxes.
“What do ya need my help with?”
“Just tell me when one of these boxes start to fall.”
“’Kay.” Dryden watched as the green haired man started moving a few boxes. He wondered what Luka was doing, ‘What the hell am I thinking?! I don’t care what he’s doing.’ Luka and Aiden had driven to a town that was half a day away to get food; they wouldn’t be back for a while. Ari was working in the fields trying to get the grounds fertile.
“Ah! Found it.”
Razz held something in the air and Dryden watched as a stack of boxes started to sway “Um… Razz.”
“What is it?”
“Box.” Razz turned to see the boxes move toward him, he jumped to the side as the stack landed next to him.
“That was a close one.” He walked over to Dryden and handed him something.
“A wooden stick.” Dryden looked at it. It came up to his waist, was dark brown, and had a few notches along its length.
“No a walking stick, it will help you.” Razz motioned for him to try it out; as Dryden stood up he leaned on it and realized it helped take some of the weight off his leg. “It belonged to Luka when he was younger, he would cause so much trouble. It was funny to watch as he tried to climb the main tree in his home town.” Razz walked out and Dryden followed him.
“What happened?”
“Got up two stories and fell. Lost his grip on a branch and tumbled, landed on Aiden too. Luka broke his leg and Aiden broke his arm and cracked his collar bone.” The man chuckled and looked back, “He’s a water boy not a climbing boy.”
“Why do ya call him water boy?”
“You’re naturally curious aren’t you?” he watched as Dryden turned his head. “Haha, it’s not that bad being curious but you should be careful. But Luka, he can breathe under water, hell he could sleep under water.”
“Breathe?” Dryden stopped, ‘That’s how he saved me.’
“Boy, have you ever seen Luka after he comes out of the water?”
Shaking his head, “No I haven’t.” Dryden started to think about it, “What does he look like?”
Razz looked at him and grinned, “You’re going to find out yourself.”
“Yer having fun aren’t ya?”
“Maybe, maybe not.” The man stopped at the kitchen and looked at Dryden, “You should start strengthen that leg.” Dryden nodded and walked with the cane into the living area. He looked around at the place. It was homey but he missed his home. It was getting closer to winter, to close. The tugging was getting stronger. He’s been here for almost two weeks, one month till winter and it’ll be too late. He ran a hand over a picture of three kids, a teen, and two women. He could tell who the kids were but the others he couldn’t tell. Luka, Ari, and Aiden, Ari was holding onto a grumpy looking Luka and Aiden.
“That’s when Luka and Aiden got into a fight over a girl; they were ten and eleven then.” Dryden turned around to find Ari, she pointed at the woman behind Luka, “That’s Luka’s mother, Aquaria.” She pointed to another woman, “And that’s my mother, Leola. That boy right there is Razz, before he dyed his hair.”
Dryden couldn’t take his eyes off Luka’s mother, “Her eyes are like Luka’s,” he looked back at Ari.
“Yes and his whole attitude and temper come from her.”
“Temper?”
“Never piss Luka off.” She watched as Dryden tipped his head to the side.
Their early, “Luka’s back.”
“Huh?” Ari then heard the rev of an engine and Dryden placed the picture down. “Well I’ll be damned that is the Sand Rail.”
The door swung open, “Oi, old man get out here and help!” Luka yelled walking past the living room.
“I’m not old yet boy!”
“Oh really is that a white hair I see.”
“It’s white because of you.” Ari sighed and shook her head.
“I better go help them. You go into the kitchen and help with unpacking the boxes.”
Dryden nodded and walked into the kitchen; he could hear Luka and Razz calling each other names. He stood there with a bored look on his face; Luka was ducking a broom aimed at his head. “Damn it’s just a joke. You know ha ha, laugh it off.”
“You are too much like your mother Luka. Always joking around when we least need it.” Razz grumbled. He saw Dryden, “Hey there Dryden. How’s that cane.”
“It’s fine, though I really don’t need it.” Dryden said as he sat down on a chair.
“Cane?” Luka asked.
“The one you told me to get rid of. I kept it thinking it might come in handy later.” Razz said as he walked outside to help.
Luka glanced at the cane Dryden was just leaning on, “Oh that one.” Dryden glanced away when Luka looked at him. “I haven’t used that in three years.” Just then Aiden came into the kitchen with a box.
“Luka get out there and help.” Aiden yelled at him as he placed the box down. “You can talk to Dryden later.” Then he walked out.
Luka sighed and walked out, “Fine I’m coming!” Dryden stood up and limped over to the box Aiden put down, Luka stuck his head back in, “Dryden I find you lifting more then you should, I’ll make sure you’re on bed rest for the rest of this week.”
Dryden scowled at him and started rummaging through the box. Topaz jumped up onto the counter and stretching like a cat sat watching as Dryden placed things down. “Hey Topaz, Luka got ya watching me?”
After finishing a couple of boxes, he decided to rest a little. Dryden watched out the window as Luka picked up another box. He moved around placing things where they belonged. As they moved the boxes he noticed that both Luka and Aiden had removed their shirts. ‘Don’t blame them it’s hot as hell out there, even if the sun is almost setting. Better finish this last box.’ With his finally healed arm he reached up to put something away, only to find he was too short. ‘Damn it…’ he placed both hands on the counter and pushing up; he slowly climbed onto the counter. When he was on the counter, he stood up and placed the item on the shelf. He started to turn when he bumped his injured leg, the pain that shot up his leg made him jerk and he lost his balance.
Dryden felt himself fall, closing his eye and turning his injured leg away from the floor, he waited to hit the ground. Open his eyes he saw the ground and then he was being lifted up, “Damn it Dryden you’re going to give me a heart attack one of these days.”
He looked behind him and saw Luka. Luka had his arm around Dryden’s upper torso and he had a hold of his injured leg. Placing him on his feet he looked at Dryden as the teen looked away. “I hate being short.” Luka sighed and flicked his ear, “Ow. What the hell!?”
“Stop trying to do stuff by yourself.” Luka said to him as he walked over to another box, Dryden glared at him and leaned against the counter. His leg was throbbing; pushing away he limped over to the box he was working on. Another shot of pain went up his leg and he let his head drop to the counter. “Dryden, are you okay?” He waved his hand at Luka.
“I’m fine.” Luka sighed and walked over to Dryden. “It just hurts a little when it’s healing.”
“Come on go sit down.”
“No, I’m fine.” Dryden brushed him off and started to unpack more items. He walked over and looked up. “I give up.” Sitting the items down, he walked over to the chair and dropped on it, “Ask me for help when I’m six inches taller.” Luka chuckled and Dryden glared at him.
“It’s not that bad, for one you can get into smaller places.” Luka smirked and picked up the items Dryden put down. He went and put them away, a couple of times he had to reach up. Dryden watched Luka’s back as he would reach up. He couldn’t help himself from staring and then he remembered his dream. Luka looked back when he heard Dryden stand up and leave. “Dryden, where are you going?”
“None of yer damn business.” A door closed and Luka sighed.
‘What’s wrong now?’ he heard Aiden yell for him and he walked outside, “What the hell is it now?” he saw Aiden struggling with a box. “I’m trying to cool off, let Ari help you.”
Ari rolled her eyes, “He won’t let me help.” Luka sighed and nudged him over.
“Let me get it.” Luka lifted the box and looked at him, “Where do you need it?” Razz stood up and motioned for him to follow. He followed after him into the house and passing the living room, the kitchen, and the bathroom and Dryden who walked back to the kitchen. Opening a door Razz waved him into a room, there was a big glass window that cut off half the room. Open a glass door, Luka walked into the room. He placed the box down, “So what the hell is in the box?” Luka took a glanced around the inside of the glass room and found a tree branch, some bushes, and a hollow log. Looking up he found a bright and hot light shining down on them.
Razz handed Luka a crow bar and both of them pried the box opened. Luka looked into the box and stepped back. “That is the pet you were talking about?”
“Yep, that is my Piper.”
Luka sighed and looked at Razz as he pulled out a ten foot brown and tan boa constrictor. Razz and Luka turned to see Dryden walk in, he was looking at two items in his hand.
“Hey Luka I need yer help knowing where thes…” Dryden looked up and saw the boa constrictor, “Holy fucking shit! What the hell is that thing?”
Luka sighed as Razz answered, “It a snake.” Dryden backed out of the room. “What’s wrong with the boy?”
“He’s afraid of snakes.” Luka walked out of the glass room and closed the door. He stepped into the hall way and found Dryden on the floor his head buried in his arms. “Dryden, you okay?”
Luka knelt down and sat next to him, “Snakes don’t get that big.”
“Ah, that one does.” Luka heard a mumble, “What was that?”
“It won’t get out.”
“I don’t know.” Luka saw amethyst eyes looking at him; he smiled. “What you want to sleep in my room?” Dryden’s eyes narrowed and Luka sighed, “Fine it was an offer. Plus I shouldn’t tell you this but you’re room is above us.” Luka winced when he felt Dryden punch his side. “I’ll sleep in yours and you sleep in mine.”
Dryden shook his head and stood up, “I’ll stay in mine. I’m going to finish the rest of the boxes.” Luka watched as the small teen walked down the hall.
Standing he walked back in and looked at Razz, “Make sure that snake never leaves this room.”
“Why?”
“Ari finds it she’ll kill it, you know that, and if Dryden finds it we’ll never get him back in this house.”
“Wow.” Razz scratched the back of his head, “I’ll make sure she’s locked up.”
Luka walked towards the kitchen, when he was yanked into the bathroom. Aiden and Ari were standing in there; he blinked, “No way in hell.” He turned to leave only to be pulled back, “Aiden let go.”
“This is the only sound proof room in this house.” Ari said, “Dryden’s hearing is better than mine.”
Aiden leaned against the counter top that Ari was sitting on. “Ari told me what happened.”
Luka sighed and rested his back against the wall, “What are you two thinking?”
Ari stood up, “We need to get Dryden out of the house to find out what’s going on, who that man was, and who Troy is?”
Tipping his head to the side, Aiden added, “From what Ari told me, Dryden could have split personality. You’re going to have to take it easy on this.”
“What do you mean?” Luka was glancing over at the closed door.
“Well there are some things you need to know about Dryden.” Ari said quietly, Luka glanced at her.
“Again, what do you mean?”
Aiden pushed away from the counter, “I asked someone back home to find out about slaved assassins. What came back is something you need to hear.”
“Go on.” Aiden and Ari looked at each other and then at Luka.
“Well,” Aiden said, “Dryden is well…”
Ari sighed, “You said that Dryden’s been a slave for eleven years. Now do the math.”
“Well he’s sixteen and that would make him five when he was sold.” Luka stopped, “What are you two getting at.”
“Assassins have no contact, except for the owner. Their room mostly consist of a bed, no windows, and one light that is always off.” Aiden said, “So that they have no emotional ties, just in case they get caught on the job. Basically they have nothing to live for and nothing to die for.”
Luka glanced off to the side, “I see so what are you aiming at?”
Ari sighed and walked up to him grabbing his face she brought him down face to face, “He’s stuck in a dark room for eleven year with nothing; you are the first in eleven years to come around and care about him.” Luka blushed and jerked back, then she pushed a little more, “His first.”
Luka started pacing the bathroom, “So he’s a…”
Aiden sighed and rested his head in his hand, “Yes.”
“Holy shit.” Luka turned and started banging his head against the wall. ‘Bad direction.’
“L-Luka.” Ari tried to stop him and Aiden sighed. “What are you doing?”
“Trying to distract myself.”
Just then there was a knock at the door. They looked at each other and grew quiet, “Is there anyone in there?” Aiden looked at Luka, “I heard banging on the wall.”
Ari punched Luka in the back of the head; Aiden slapped a hand over his mouth as he was about to start cursing, “Sorry Dryden I kind of slipped on the rug.”
“Okay.” It grew quiet; Ari gave Aiden a look and he smiled sheepishly, “Oh Aiden is Luka around?”
“He should be somewhere, check his room.”
“Okay.” Ari walked over and placed her ear to the door.
“He’s gone.” She turned to Luka, “You’ll find out about that man at that place. Me and Aiden will get more info about Dragconians.” Luka sighed as the two walked out of the bathroom. Why him, why did he have to be the one to bring up the bad stuff.
Luka walked out of the bathroom, ‘Here I go.’ He walked over to the stairs and looked up. He could here Dryden walking around upstairs. Slowly climbing the stairs he started to think about Dryden, ‘I might be his first.’ Stopping half way up, he looked over his shoulder, ‘His first in everything. I should be happy but why…’ He rubbed at his face with both hands and growled, ‘Focus, focus. What happened to me? I shouldn’t be acting this way.’ But he was and he sighed, Luka realized he’s been sighing a lot lately. Turning he sat down on the step, ‘Ever since I met him, I’ve been acting weird. Why?’ then it hit him, ‘Shit. I’m an idiot. Mother help me, I think I’m in love. What should I do?’ Luka buried his head in his arms.
Dryden walked down the hall and came to the steps, he saw Luka sitting on the steps, arms resting on his legs, and his head buried in his arms. Walking down the steps he realized that Luka hadn’t moved, ‘Something must be bothering him.’ Dryden stopped next to Luka; sitting down he looked down the steps. Taking the cane he let it lightly bump against Luka’s shoulder. Luka glanced over to see Dryden. “What do ya want to ask me?”
“Huh?”
Dryden looked at him, “Ask me anything. Don’t tell me yer not, it’s written all over your face.”
“Really?” He looked down at his hands and sighed, “You might not like this question, but who was that man, the one in the room?”
“Well I don’t know which yer talking about so I’ll tell ya about both.” Dryden tipped his head back, “The one that I killed was my owner and the other well that would be my father.”
“Father?” we’ll talk about a shocker, why would someone want to do that to their own kid.
“Yep, sold me ‘cause I was different.” He looked at Luka, he didn’t know why but talking to Luka was easy, “but I’m glad he did. I would have never met ya, Aiden, or Ari.” Luka looked away and then he looked back.
“What’s so different about you?”
“Two things, ya’ll know about one but the other I can’t say just yet.” Dryden smiled, but it was a sad smile. Luka couldn’t help it; the two were shoulder to shoulder. The stairs were small ones, so when he turned to Dryden he was close. He leaned in, “Luka?”
“Luka!!” Luka jumped up.
“That was Ari I got to go.” Then he run down the stairs, once he was under the stair case he covered his face. ‘I’m going to strangle Ari.’
Dryden sat there watching as Luka practically ran under the stair case. He smirked and stood up, ‘Idiot,’ climbing the stairs back up to his room he yawned and stretched his arms above his head. Then pulling them forward, he felt his back crack. ‘Damn that felt good. I’m going to go take a nap.’ Dryden opened his room door and walked in. Dropping the cane next to the bed he pulled his shirt off and climbed onto the bed. He curled around his pillow and gave a soft smile, ‘So tired.’
He was happy, but that tugging feeling was getting stronger; sleeping only seemed to help it go away. He rolled over and then rolled back over, ‘What the hell is wrong with my bed?’ Then he felt something flick against his nose. Dryden scrunched it up and opened an eye; he saw a snake staring at him. ‘Oh it’s just the snake from down stairs.’ The small teen closed his eye and was almost asleep.
Dryden jerked awake and his back hit the wall, he pushed back along the wall till he was in the corner at the top of the bed. ‘Big ass snake in my bed!’ He grabbed the pillow and held it in front of himself. “Who the hell let the damn snake out?!” It moved towards him and he whimpered, the snake’s fork tongue came out and tasted the air. “Someone help.” The snake looked at him, “Go away.”
Luka growled and cursed, “You lost the damn snake! How the hell do you lose a ten foot snake?”
“I don’t know.” Razz said, “All I did was turn my back to get her food and she was gone.” Luka gave him an annoyed look.
“Ari check outside and Razz stay here. Aiden down stairs and I’ll look around upstairs.” He ran out of the room before any of them could complain. Taking the stairs three at a time, he stood at the top. He pushed the door open to his room and started looking around. No snake. It was the same for the other rooms and he stopped in front of Dryden’s room. Ari and Aiden came running up; they all looked at the door.
“So why are you flipping out over the snake.”
“Dryden has a fear of snakes.” Luka grabbed the door and pushed it open. “Dryden, are you in here?” He saw a pile pillows and then he saw Piper the snake climbing off the bed. “Aiden can you get the snake take her to Razz.” He looked at Ari, “Can you help him?”
“Sure. I didn’t know Dryden had a fear.” They picked her up and walked out of the room. Luka walked over to find the pillows piled around something. Chuckling he grabbed one and saw Dryden curled up in a ball.
Luka placed his hand on his shoulder, “Dryden. She’s gone.” He heard a muffled sound. “Yes I’m sure.” Dryden peeked out and sat up. He looked at Luka, Dryden rubbed at his eyes as Luka pat him on the shoulder.
“Can I stay in your room?” He had slid off the bed and stood glancing about the room. “I don’t want the snake to get me.”
Luka made a noise, “Sure, I’ll pull the cot out and you can have the bed.” Dryden was about to protest but Luka stopped him by grabbing his hand and pulling him toward his room. “No you’re getting the bed.”
“But…”
“No buts.” He opened the door, “Now I’ll be right back.” Dryden walked in and glanced around the room. There was desk on one wall, a bookshelf full of books on another wall, and then there was the bed. The bed wasn’t big but it wasn’t small either. Dryden walked over to the bookshelf and looked at all the books.
They were story books, he skimmed over the titles most of them were adventure novels. ‘Luka likes adventure books.’ He gave a soft laugh and stopped his hand over one. He remembered this one his mom would read it to him when he was little. Pulling the book down, he flipped it open and smiled. ‘I wonder if she’s still alive?’
Luka walked in to see Dryden looking at one of his books; he placed the cot down and unfolded it. Standing up he walked over to Dryden, “What are you looking at?” Dryden jumped and turned around, his ears and tail appeared.
“Shit, don’t do that!” Luka chuckled.
“Fine I won’t.” He pulled the book out of his hands and looked at it, “I remember this book.” Luka closed the book; Dryden covered his head and closed his eyes. “Why do you make them go away?”
“Why are ya asking?” Dryden moved his hands and they were gone he looked down to find his tail gone. “They get in the way, if ya want to know why.” Luka watched as the small teen walked over to the bed. Dryden looked at it and then at him, “Ya sure ya really don’t mind?” he yawned and rubbed at his eyes
“Go on, get some sleep.” Dryden sighed and flopped on the bed his back to Luka. He looked at the X like scare on his back and frowned. Luka walked over to the closet and pulled out a blanket, pushing the cot closer to the bed he laid down and closed his eyes, ‘I have till the end of the week.’
Luka jerked awake when something smacked him on the head. Dryden was standing over him with a pillow and an annoyed looked on his face. “Are ya finally awake, cause if yer not I’m going to flip the cot.”
Luka glared at him and sat up, “What the hell was that for?”
“Crying out in ya sleep, I had to wake ya up.”
“I was?”
“Yes, ya were. Why?” Dryden was squatting next to the cot.
“I…… don’t know.” He couldn’t remember the dream. Dryden sat there staring at him, “Um… why are you staring at me?”
Dryden blinked, “Huh?” Luka sighed and shook his head.
“Never mind.” He looked at the window, “It’s still dark out.” Luka growled as Dryden laughed and stood up. Luka glanced up at Dryden; he was looking out the window. “What’s wrong?”
He blinked and shook his head, “Nothing.”
^^^^^^^
Luka groaned and rolled over, falling off the small cot and onto the cold floor, “Fuck. Now I remember why I never use these.” He sat up and looked around hoping he didn’t wake the other teen but Dryden was gone. “Where did he go now?” Looking at the window, “What the hell it’s still dark out?” he climbed to his feet and walk over to the window. He rubbed at his eyes and looked out. “Fucking hell, he’s all the way out there.”
Dryden stood on top of the broken wall; he was so close to home. He could hear the four small dragons laying by his feet. Dryden sat down and looked up; he flopped on to his back. Closing his eyes he gave a small smile. Luka had giving up his bed for him but he couldn’t sleep, his scent was bugging him in one too many ways, all of which were good. Luka was still asleep in his room and he was out here. He wondered when Luka would find him gone and who the hell was above him. Open his eyes he found two golden brown eyes looking down at him. Sighing he sat up and looked at Luka. “Why did ya wake up?”
“I don’t know, maybe because you left the room.”
“Why the hell are ya still watching me?” Dryden growled while standing up.
Luka let his shoulders drop, “You want to leave, go. I was watching you stare off in the distance, I won’t stop you from going home.”
Dryden blinked, he was shocked, “Do ya want me to leave?” the smaller teen let his eyes drop to the ground. Why did it hurt? The smaller dragons looked at Dryden and then Blue Fire flew at Luka. Luka stepped back and caught the small dragon, but that didn’t stop her.
“No I…… damn it! I don’t want you to leave,” Dryden looked up at Luka, “Will you please get the pain in the neck to stop trying to burn my face off.” Luka was struggling with the small dragon.
Dryden walked up and placed his hands on Blue Fire, “Come on Blue you can stop now.” The small dragon stopped but kept on growling. “Why did ya tell me to leave if ya don’t want me to?”
“You only have a month left and you keep on getting so antsy about it. So I’m not going to stop you,” Dryden placed Blue Fire down and walked up to Luka, he let his head fall against his chest, “All I ask is for you to came back and find me.” Dryden shook his head.
“If I go I won’t be able to leave.”
“What do you mean?”
Dryden shook his head once again, “If I could stop time I would, so I can spend it with everyone,” Luka placed his hands on his shoulders and pushed him back, looking down he saw Dryden’s face, “I don’t ever want to leave.”
“What about the snake?”
“Snakes are evil, their spawns of hell.” Dryden said to him without a second thought, Luka smiled and squeezed his shoulder. Pulling him into a hug, Dryden looked at him. “Yer not going to tell me to leave, are ya?”
“I never wanted you to leave.” Dryden smiled and wrapped his arms around Luka.
“Luka can I see yer hand.”
Luka pulled back, “Why?” Dryden grabbed Luka’s hand, he watched as the smaller teen placed it on his head. He felt them two small bumps on top of his head. “What are they?”
“Idiot, I’m part dragon remember,” He stopped and looked at him; “Aiden and Ari are worried about ya, tell Aiden to watch out for that rug.” Dryden smiled as Luka moved his hand over the small horns.
“Your hair hides them.” Luka grinned, “They fit you, along with your cat ears.” Dryden turned his head to hide his blush, Luka leaned closer, “Dryden is Dryden no matter what. Plus I like your ears.” Luka dropped his hand from Dryden’s head. He brushed his hand over his cheek.
Dryden turned his head, “Stop doing…” Luka was closer to face.
The older teen smirked, “Stop what?”
Dryden swallowed, “Stop teasing me.”
“I like it when you blush.” Luka watched as Dryden grew redder. “Like right now. It makes me want to never let you go.” Luka eyes grew soft, taking a step forward he kissed Dryden. He felt the small teen stiffing and he pulled back, “S-sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.” He turned to leave, only to be stopped. Looking back he saw Dryden’s hand holding the back of his shirt.
“Do ya mean it?” The small teen looked up at him and Luka was watching him, the light blush just made him look cuter. He could see amethyst eyes looking up at him through blue bangs.
Luka gave a soft smile, “Why do you ask?”
“Just answer the damn question.”
“Yes.”
Dryden wrapped his arms around him, “Will ya let me go?”
“Never, I’ll even keep the snakes away.”
Dryden smiled against his back and nuzzled against it, Luka’s scent filled his nose. “I like ya Luka. I don’t understand but I’m happier when yer near.”
“Why do you say that?”
“When yer gone I think about ya, when yer near I’m so happy I don’t want to leave.” Dryden whispered.
“I guess I have to own up?”
“Damn straight.” Turning around he pulled Dryden too him and smiled. “You will tell no one about the horns.”
“Don’t plan on it.”
“About time.” Ari nudged Aiden, “Hand it over.”
“Damn it, I’m never betting with you again. I’m losing money.” Aiden placed twenty dollars in her hand.
“You say that all the time.” Ari said as she watched the two through her binoculars. “How long we have?”
“Till the end of the week.”
“Good thing it’s only the beginning of the week.” Ari glanced at him and then looked back, “Ah! There going at it again.” Aiden snatched the binoculars away and she glared at him, “What did you do that for?”
“They deserve some sort of privacy.” Ari noticed that Aiden was a little agitated, “You’re jealous!”
“What the hell?” He gave her a look that had her grinning, “What are you thinking?”
“Then why are you jealous, hmmm Aiden?” He blushed and looked away.
“I’m not jealous not of them.”
“You’re too cute.” She hugged him. Aiden at that point almost fainted when he heard a cough. “Hi Razz.”
Aiden slowly turned his head and gulped, “Um… hi Razz.”
Razz sighed and walked out of the room, ‘I’m getting too old for this.’
A/N: Read and enjoy. This chap is to push the couples together. The story is only just starting, Part one is almost half way done. This chapter may be a little on the, what the hell is going on, side of the line. Now on to the story.
Dryden limped down the hall, Razz caught how he would stop and lean against the wall. “Dryden, will you come here a minute.”
Dryden looked towards him, “Why?”
“I need your help.” Shrugging Dryden followed him into a cluttered room. There were boxes full of old books, knickknacks, weapons, and some unknown items. “Sit right there.” he pointed towards an old chair, “Don’t worry it won’t break, if it can hold me it can hold you.” He added after Dryden gave him a wary look. Sitting down he watched as Razz started shifting though the boxes.
“What do ya need my help with?”
“Just tell me when one of these boxes start to fall.”
“’Kay.” Dryden watched as the green haired man started moving a few boxes. He wondered what Luka was doing, ‘What the hell am I thinking?! I don’t care what he’s doing.’ Luka and Aiden had driven to a town that was half a day away to get food; they wouldn’t be back for a while. Ari was working in the fields trying to get the grounds fertile.
“Ah! Found it.”
Razz held something in the air and Dryden watched as a stack of boxes started to sway “Um… Razz.”
“What is it?”
“Box.” Razz turned to see the boxes move toward him, he jumped to the side as the stack landed next to him.
“That was a close one.” He walked over to Dryden and handed him something.
“A wooden stick.” Dryden looked at it. It came up to his waist, was dark brown, and had a few notches along its length.
“No a walking stick, it will help you.” Razz motioned for him to try it out; as Dryden stood up he leaned on it and realized it helped take some of the weight off his leg. “It belonged to Luka when he was younger, he would cause so much trouble. It was funny to watch as he tried to climb the main tree in his home town.” Razz walked out and Dryden followed him.
“What happened?”
“Got up two stories and fell. Lost his grip on a branch and tumbled, landed on Aiden too. Luka broke his leg and Aiden broke his arm and cracked his collar bone.” The man chuckled and looked back, “He’s a water boy not a climbing boy.”
“Why do ya call him water boy?”
“You’re naturally curious aren’t you?” he watched as Dryden turned his head. “Haha, it’s not that bad being curious but you should be careful. But Luka, he can breathe under water, hell he could sleep under water.”
“Breathe?” Dryden stopped, ‘That’s how he saved me.’
“Boy, have you ever seen Luka after he comes out of the water?”
Shaking his head, “No I haven’t.” Dryden started to think about it, “What does he look like?”
Razz looked at him and grinned, “You’re going to find out yourself.”
“Yer having fun aren’t ya?”
“Maybe, maybe not.” The man stopped at the kitchen and looked at Dryden, “You should start strengthen that leg.” Dryden nodded and walked with the cane into the living area. He looked around at the place. It was homey but he missed his home. It was getting closer to winter, to close. The tugging was getting stronger. He’s been here for almost two weeks, one month till winter and it’ll be too late. He ran a hand over a picture of three kids, a teen, and two women. He could tell who the kids were but the others he couldn’t tell. Luka, Ari, and Aiden, Ari was holding onto a grumpy looking Luka and Aiden.
“That’s when Luka and Aiden got into a fight over a girl; they were ten and eleven then.” Dryden turned around to find Ari, she pointed at the woman behind Luka, “That’s Luka’s mother, Aquaria.” She pointed to another woman, “And that’s my mother, Leola. That boy right there is Razz, before he dyed his hair.”
Dryden couldn’t take his eyes off Luka’s mother, “Her eyes are like Luka’s,” he looked back at Ari.
“Yes and his whole attitude and temper come from her.”
“Temper?”
“Never piss Luka off.” She watched as Dryden tipped his head to the side.
Their early, “Luka’s back.”
“Huh?” Ari then heard the rev of an engine and Dryden placed the picture down. “Well I’ll be damned that is the Sand Rail.”
The door swung open, “Oi, old man get out here and help!” Luka yelled walking past the living room.
“I’m not old yet boy!”
“Oh really is that a white hair I see.”
“It’s white because of you.” Ari sighed and shook her head.
“I better go help them. You go into the kitchen and help with unpacking the boxes.”
Dryden nodded and walked into the kitchen; he could hear Luka and Razz calling each other names. He stood there with a bored look on his face; Luka was ducking a broom aimed at his head. “Damn it’s just a joke. You know ha ha, laugh it off.”
“You are too much like your mother Luka. Always joking around when we least need it.” Razz grumbled. He saw Dryden, “Hey there Dryden. How’s that cane.”
“It’s fine, though I really don’t need it.” Dryden said as he sat down on a chair.
“Cane?” Luka asked.
“The one you told me to get rid of. I kept it thinking it might come in handy later.” Razz said as he walked outside to help.
Luka glanced at the cane Dryden was just leaning on, “Oh that one.” Dryden glanced away when Luka looked at him. “I haven’t used that in three years.” Just then Aiden came into the kitchen with a box.
“Luka get out there and help.” Aiden yelled at him as he placed the box down. “You can talk to Dryden later.” Then he walked out.
Luka sighed and walked out, “Fine I’m coming!” Dryden stood up and limped over to the box Aiden put down, Luka stuck his head back in, “Dryden I find you lifting more then you should, I’ll make sure you’re on bed rest for the rest of this week.”
Dryden scowled at him and started rummaging through the box. Topaz jumped up onto the counter and stretching like a cat sat watching as Dryden placed things down. “Hey Topaz, Luka got ya watching me?”
After finishing a couple of boxes, he decided to rest a little. Dryden watched out the window as Luka picked up another box. He moved around placing things where they belonged. As they moved the boxes he noticed that both Luka and Aiden had removed their shirts. ‘Don’t blame them it’s hot as hell out there, even if the sun is almost setting. Better finish this last box.’ With his finally healed arm he reached up to put something away, only to find he was too short. ‘Damn it…’ he placed both hands on the counter and pushing up; he slowly climbed onto the counter. When he was on the counter, he stood up and placed the item on the shelf. He started to turn when he bumped his injured leg, the pain that shot up his leg made him jerk and he lost his balance.
Dryden felt himself fall, closing his eye and turning his injured leg away from the floor, he waited to hit the ground. Open his eyes he saw the ground and then he was being lifted up, “Damn it Dryden you’re going to give me a heart attack one of these days.”
He looked behind him and saw Luka. Luka had his arm around Dryden’s upper torso and he had a hold of his injured leg. Placing him on his feet he looked at Dryden as the teen looked away. “I hate being short.” Luka sighed and flicked his ear, “Ow. What the hell!?”
“Stop trying to do stuff by yourself.” Luka said to him as he walked over to another box, Dryden glared at him and leaned against the counter. His leg was throbbing; pushing away he limped over to the box he was working on. Another shot of pain went up his leg and he let his head drop to the counter. “Dryden, are you okay?” He waved his hand at Luka.
“I’m fine.” Luka sighed and walked over to Dryden. “It just hurts a little when it’s healing.”
“Come on go sit down.”
“No, I’m fine.” Dryden brushed him off and started to unpack more items. He walked over and looked up. “I give up.” Sitting the items down, he walked over to the chair and dropped on it, “Ask me for help when I’m six inches taller.” Luka chuckled and Dryden glared at him.
“It’s not that bad, for one you can get into smaller places.” Luka smirked and picked up the items Dryden put down. He went and put them away, a couple of times he had to reach up. Dryden watched Luka’s back as he would reach up. He couldn’t help himself from staring and then he remembered his dream. Luka looked back when he heard Dryden stand up and leave. “Dryden, where are you going?”
“None of yer damn business.” A door closed and Luka sighed.
‘What’s wrong now?’ he heard Aiden yell for him and he walked outside, “What the hell is it now?” he saw Aiden struggling with a box. “I’m trying to cool off, let Ari help you.”
Ari rolled her eyes, “He won’t let me help.” Luka sighed and nudged him over.
“Let me get it.” Luka lifted the box and looked at him, “Where do you need it?” Razz stood up and motioned for him to follow. He followed after him into the house and passing the living room, the kitchen, and the bathroom and Dryden who walked back to the kitchen. Opening a door Razz waved him into a room, there was a big glass window that cut off half the room. Open a glass door, Luka walked into the room. He placed the box down, “So what the hell is in the box?” Luka took a glanced around the inside of the glass room and found a tree branch, some bushes, and a hollow log. Looking up he found a bright and hot light shining down on them.
Razz handed Luka a crow bar and both of them pried the box opened. Luka looked into the box and stepped back. “That is the pet you were talking about?”
“Yep, that is my Piper.”
Luka sighed and looked at Razz as he pulled out a ten foot brown and tan boa constrictor. Razz and Luka turned to see Dryden walk in, he was looking at two items in his hand.
“Hey Luka I need yer help knowing where thes…” Dryden looked up and saw the boa constrictor, “Holy fucking shit! What the hell is that thing?”
Luka sighed as Razz answered, “It a snake.” Dryden backed out of the room. “What’s wrong with the boy?”
“He’s afraid of snakes.” Luka walked out of the glass room and closed the door. He stepped into the hall way and found Dryden on the floor his head buried in his arms. “Dryden, you okay?”
Luka knelt down and sat next to him, “Snakes don’t get that big.”
“Ah, that one does.” Luka heard a mumble, “What was that?”
“It won’t get out.”
“I don’t know.” Luka saw amethyst eyes looking at him; he smiled. “What you want to sleep in my room?” Dryden’s eyes narrowed and Luka sighed, “Fine it was an offer. Plus I shouldn’t tell you this but you’re room is above us.” Luka winced when he felt Dryden punch his side. “I’ll sleep in yours and you sleep in mine.”
Dryden shook his head and stood up, “I’ll stay in mine. I’m going to finish the rest of the boxes.” Luka watched as the small teen walked down the hall.
Standing he walked back in and looked at Razz, “Make sure that snake never leaves this room.”
“Why?”
“Ari finds it she’ll kill it, you know that, and if Dryden finds it we’ll never get him back in this house.”
“Wow.” Razz scratched the back of his head, “I’ll make sure she’s locked up.”
Luka walked towards the kitchen, when he was yanked into the bathroom. Aiden and Ari were standing in there; he blinked, “No way in hell.” He turned to leave only to be pulled back, “Aiden let go.”
“This is the only sound proof room in this house.” Ari said, “Dryden’s hearing is better than mine.”
Aiden leaned against the counter top that Ari was sitting on. “Ari told me what happened.”
Luka sighed and rested his back against the wall, “What are you two thinking?”
Ari stood up, “We need to get Dryden out of the house to find out what’s going on, who that man was, and who Troy is?”
Tipping his head to the side, Aiden added, “From what Ari told me, Dryden could have split personality. You’re going to have to take it easy on this.”
“What do you mean?” Luka was glancing over at the closed door.
“Well there are some things you need to know about Dryden.” Ari said quietly, Luka glanced at her.
“Again, what do you mean?”
Aiden pushed away from the counter, “I asked someone back home to find out about slaved assassins. What came back is something you need to hear.”
“Go on.” Aiden and Ari looked at each other and then at Luka.
“Well,” Aiden said, “Dryden is well…”
Ari sighed, “You said that Dryden’s been a slave for eleven years. Now do the math.”
“Well he’s sixteen and that would make him five when he was sold.” Luka stopped, “What are you two getting at.”
“Assassins have no contact, except for the owner. Their room mostly consist of a bed, no windows, and one light that is always off.” Aiden said, “So that they have no emotional ties, just in case they get caught on the job. Basically they have nothing to live for and nothing to die for.”
Luka glanced off to the side, “I see so what are you aiming at?”
Ari sighed and walked up to him grabbing his face she brought him down face to face, “He’s stuck in a dark room for eleven year with nothing; you are the first in eleven years to come around and care about him.” Luka blushed and jerked back, then she pushed a little more, “His first.”
Luka started pacing the bathroom, “So he’s a…”
Aiden sighed and rested his head in his hand, “Yes.”
“Holy shit.” Luka turned and started banging his head against the wall. ‘Bad direction.’
“L-Luka.” Ari tried to stop him and Aiden sighed. “What are you doing?”
“Trying to distract myself.”
Just then there was a knock at the door. They looked at each other and grew quiet, “Is there anyone in there?” Aiden looked at Luka, “I heard banging on the wall.”
Ari punched Luka in the back of the head; Aiden slapped a hand over his mouth as he was about to start cursing, “Sorry Dryden I kind of slipped on the rug.”
“Okay.” It grew quiet; Ari gave Aiden a look and he smiled sheepishly, “Oh Aiden is Luka around?”
“He should be somewhere, check his room.”
“Okay.” Ari walked over and placed her ear to the door.
“He’s gone.” She turned to Luka, “You’ll find out about that man at that place. Me and Aiden will get more info about Dragconians.” Luka sighed as the two walked out of the bathroom. Why him, why did he have to be the one to bring up the bad stuff.
Luka walked out of the bathroom, ‘Here I go.’ He walked over to the stairs and looked up. He could here Dryden walking around upstairs. Slowly climbing the stairs he started to think about Dryden, ‘I might be his first.’ Stopping half way up, he looked over his shoulder, ‘His first in everything. I should be happy but why…’ He rubbed at his face with both hands and growled, ‘Focus, focus. What happened to me? I shouldn’t be acting this way.’ But he was and he sighed, Luka realized he’s been sighing a lot lately. Turning he sat down on the step, ‘Ever since I met him, I’ve been acting weird. Why?’ then it hit him, ‘Shit. I’m an idiot. Mother help me, I think I’m in love. What should I do?’ Luka buried his head in his arms.
Dryden walked down the hall and came to the steps, he saw Luka sitting on the steps, arms resting on his legs, and his head buried in his arms. Walking down the steps he realized that Luka hadn’t moved, ‘Something must be bothering him.’ Dryden stopped next to Luka; sitting down he looked down the steps. Taking the cane he let it lightly bump against Luka’s shoulder. Luka glanced over to see Dryden. “What do ya want to ask me?”
“Huh?”
Dryden looked at him, “Ask me anything. Don’t tell me yer not, it’s written all over your face.”
“Really?” He looked down at his hands and sighed, “You might not like this question, but who was that man, the one in the room?”
“Well I don’t know which yer talking about so I’ll tell ya about both.” Dryden tipped his head back, “The one that I killed was my owner and the other well that would be my father.”
“Father?” we’ll talk about a shocker, why would someone want to do that to their own kid.
“Yep, sold me ‘cause I was different.” He looked at Luka, he didn’t know why but talking to Luka was easy, “but I’m glad he did. I would have never met ya, Aiden, or Ari.” Luka looked away and then he looked back.
“What’s so different about you?”
“Two things, ya’ll know about one but the other I can’t say just yet.” Dryden smiled, but it was a sad smile. Luka couldn’t help it; the two were shoulder to shoulder. The stairs were small ones, so when he turned to Dryden he was close. He leaned in, “Luka?”
“Luka!!” Luka jumped up.
“That was Ari I got to go.” Then he run down the stairs, once he was under the stair case he covered his face. ‘I’m going to strangle Ari.’
Dryden sat there watching as Luka practically ran under the stair case. He smirked and stood up, ‘Idiot,’ climbing the stairs back up to his room he yawned and stretched his arms above his head. Then pulling them forward, he felt his back crack. ‘Damn that felt good. I’m going to go take a nap.’ Dryden opened his room door and walked in. Dropping the cane next to the bed he pulled his shirt off and climbed onto the bed. He curled around his pillow and gave a soft smile, ‘So tired.’
He was happy, but that tugging feeling was getting stronger; sleeping only seemed to help it go away. He rolled over and then rolled back over, ‘What the hell is wrong with my bed?’ Then he felt something flick against his nose. Dryden scrunched it up and opened an eye; he saw a snake staring at him. ‘Oh it’s just the snake from down stairs.’ The small teen closed his eye and was almost asleep.
Dryden jerked awake and his back hit the wall, he pushed back along the wall till he was in the corner at the top of the bed. ‘Big ass snake in my bed!’ He grabbed the pillow and held it in front of himself. “Who the hell let the damn snake out?!” It moved towards him and he whimpered, the snake’s fork tongue came out and tasted the air. “Someone help.” The snake looked at him, “Go away.”
Luka growled and cursed, “You lost the damn snake! How the hell do you lose a ten foot snake?”
“I don’t know.” Razz said, “All I did was turn my back to get her food and she was gone.” Luka gave him an annoyed look.
“Ari check outside and Razz stay here. Aiden down stairs and I’ll look around upstairs.” He ran out of the room before any of them could complain. Taking the stairs three at a time, he stood at the top. He pushed the door open to his room and started looking around. No snake. It was the same for the other rooms and he stopped in front of Dryden’s room. Ari and Aiden came running up; they all looked at the door.
“So why are you flipping out over the snake.”
“Dryden has a fear of snakes.” Luka grabbed the door and pushed it open. “Dryden, are you in here?” He saw a pile pillows and then he saw Piper the snake climbing off the bed. “Aiden can you get the snake take her to Razz.” He looked at Ari, “Can you help him?”
“Sure. I didn’t know Dryden had a fear.” They picked her up and walked out of the room. Luka walked over to find the pillows piled around something. Chuckling he grabbed one and saw Dryden curled up in a ball.
Luka placed his hand on his shoulder, “Dryden. She’s gone.” He heard a muffled sound. “Yes I’m sure.” Dryden peeked out and sat up. He looked at Luka, Dryden rubbed at his eyes as Luka pat him on the shoulder.
“Can I stay in your room?” He had slid off the bed and stood glancing about the room. “I don’t want the snake to get me.”
Luka made a noise, “Sure, I’ll pull the cot out and you can have the bed.” Dryden was about to protest but Luka stopped him by grabbing his hand and pulling him toward his room. “No you’re getting the bed.”
“But…”
“No buts.” He opened the door, “Now I’ll be right back.” Dryden walked in and glanced around the room. There was desk on one wall, a bookshelf full of books on another wall, and then there was the bed. The bed wasn’t big but it wasn’t small either. Dryden walked over to the bookshelf and looked at all the books.
They were story books, he skimmed over the titles most of them were adventure novels. ‘Luka likes adventure books.’ He gave a soft laugh and stopped his hand over one. He remembered this one his mom would read it to him when he was little. Pulling the book down, he flipped it open and smiled. ‘I wonder if she’s still alive?’
Luka walked in to see Dryden looking at one of his books; he placed the cot down and unfolded it. Standing up he walked over to Dryden, “What are you looking at?” Dryden jumped and turned around, his ears and tail appeared.
“Shit, don’t do that!” Luka chuckled.
“Fine I won’t.” He pulled the book out of his hands and looked at it, “I remember this book.” Luka closed the book; Dryden covered his head and closed his eyes. “Why do you make them go away?”
“Why are ya asking?” Dryden moved his hands and they were gone he looked down to find his tail gone. “They get in the way, if ya want to know why.” Luka watched as the small teen walked over to the bed. Dryden looked at it and then at him, “Ya sure ya really don’t mind?” he yawned and rubbed at his eyes
“Go on, get some sleep.” Dryden sighed and flopped on the bed his back to Luka. He looked at the X like scare on his back and frowned. Luka walked over to the closet and pulled out a blanket, pushing the cot closer to the bed he laid down and closed his eyes, ‘I have till the end of the week.’
Luka jerked awake when something smacked him on the head. Dryden was standing over him with a pillow and an annoyed looked on his face. “Are ya finally awake, cause if yer not I’m going to flip the cot.”
Luka glared at him and sat up, “What the hell was that for?”
“Crying out in ya sleep, I had to wake ya up.”
“I was?”
“Yes, ya were. Why?” Dryden was squatting next to the cot.
“I…… don’t know.” He couldn’t remember the dream. Dryden sat there staring at him, “Um… why are you staring at me?”
Dryden blinked, “Huh?” Luka sighed and shook his head.
“Never mind.” He looked at the window, “It’s still dark out.” Luka growled as Dryden laughed and stood up. Luka glanced up at Dryden; he was looking out the window. “What’s wrong?”
He blinked and shook his head, “Nothing.”
^^^^^^^
Luka groaned and rolled over, falling off the small cot and onto the cold floor, “Fuck. Now I remember why I never use these.” He sat up and looked around hoping he didn’t wake the other teen but Dryden was gone. “Where did he go now?” Looking at the window, “What the hell it’s still dark out?” he climbed to his feet and walk over to the window. He rubbed at his eyes and looked out. “Fucking hell, he’s all the way out there.”
Dryden stood on top of the broken wall; he was so close to home. He could hear the four small dragons laying by his feet. Dryden sat down and looked up; he flopped on to his back. Closing his eyes he gave a small smile. Luka had giving up his bed for him but he couldn’t sleep, his scent was bugging him in one too many ways, all of which were good. Luka was still asleep in his room and he was out here. He wondered when Luka would find him gone and who the hell was above him. Open his eyes he found two golden brown eyes looking down at him. Sighing he sat up and looked at Luka. “Why did ya wake up?”
“I don’t know, maybe because you left the room.”
“Why the hell are ya still watching me?” Dryden growled while standing up.
Luka let his shoulders drop, “You want to leave, go. I was watching you stare off in the distance, I won’t stop you from going home.”
Dryden blinked, he was shocked, “Do ya want me to leave?” the smaller teen let his eyes drop to the ground. Why did it hurt? The smaller dragons looked at Dryden and then Blue Fire flew at Luka. Luka stepped back and caught the small dragon, but that didn’t stop her.
“No I…… damn it! I don’t want you to leave,” Dryden looked up at Luka, “Will you please get the pain in the neck to stop trying to burn my face off.” Luka was struggling with the small dragon.
Dryden walked up and placed his hands on Blue Fire, “Come on Blue you can stop now.” The small dragon stopped but kept on growling. “Why did ya tell me to leave if ya don’t want me to?”
“You only have a month left and you keep on getting so antsy about it. So I’m not going to stop you,” Dryden placed Blue Fire down and walked up to Luka, he let his head fall against his chest, “All I ask is for you to came back and find me.” Dryden shook his head.
“If I go I won’t be able to leave.”
“What do you mean?”
Dryden shook his head once again, “If I could stop time I would, so I can spend it with everyone,” Luka placed his hands on his shoulders and pushed him back, looking down he saw Dryden’s face, “I don’t ever want to leave.”
“What about the snake?”
“Snakes are evil, their spawns of hell.” Dryden said to him without a second thought, Luka smiled and squeezed his shoulder. Pulling him into a hug, Dryden looked at him. “Yer not going to tell me to leave, are ya?”
“I never wanted you to leave.” Dryden smiled and wrapped his arms around Luka.
“Luka can I see yer hand.”
Luka pulled back, “Why?” Dryden grabbed Luka’s hand, he watched as the smaller teen placed it on his head. He felt them two small bumps on top of his head. “What are they?”
“Idiot, I’m part dragon remember,” He stopped and looked at him; “Aiden and Ari are worried about ya, tell Aiden to watch out for that rug.” Dryden smiled as Luka moved his hand over the small horns.
“Your hair hides them.” Luka grinned, “They fit you, along with your cat ears.” Dryden turned his head to hide his blush, Luka leaned closer, “Dryden is Dryden no matter what. Plus I like your ears.” Luka dropped his hand from Dryden’s head. He brushed his hand over his cheek.
Dryden turned his head, “Stop doing…” Luka was closer to face.
The older teen smirked, “Stop what?”
Dryden swallowed, “Stop teasing me.”
“I like it when you blush.” Luka watched as Dryden grew redder. “Like right now. It makes me want to never let you go.” Luka eyes grew soft, taking a step forward he kissed Dryden. He felt the small teen stiffing and he pulled back, “S-sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.” He turned to leave, only to be stopped. Looking back he saw Dryden’s hand holding the back of his shirt.
“Do ya mean it?” The small teen looked up at him and Luka was watching him, the light blush just made him look cuter. He could see amethyst eyes looking up at him through blue bangs.
Luka gave a soft smile, “Why do you ask?”
“Just answer the damn question.”
“Yes.”
Dryden wrapped his arms around him, “Will ya let me go?”
“Never, I’ll even keep the snakes away.”
Dryden smiled against his back and nuzzled against it, Luka’s scent filled his nose. “I like ya Luka. I don’t understand but I’m happier when yer near.”
“Why do you say that?”
“When yer gone I think about ya, when yer near I’m so happy I don’t want to leave.” Dryden whispered.
“I guess I have to own up?”
“Damn straight.” Turning around he pulled Dryden too him and smiled. “You will tell no one about the horns.”
“Don’t plan on it.”
“About time.” Ari nudged Aiden, “Hand it over.”
“Damn it, I’m never betting with you again. I’m losing money.” Aiden placed twenty dollars in her hand.
“You say that all the time.” Ari said as she watched the two through her binoculars. “How long we have?”
“Till the end of the week.”
“Good thing it’s only the beginning of the week.” Ari glanced at him and then looked back, “Ah! There going at it again.” Aiden snatched the binoculars away and she glared at him, “What did you do that for?”
“They deserve some sort of privacy.” Ari noticed that Aiden was a little agitated, “You’re jealous!”
“What the hell?” He gave her a look that had her grinning, “What are you thinking?”
“Then why are you jealous, hmmm Aiden?” He blushed and looked away.
“I’m not jealous not of them.”
“You’re too cute.” She hugged him. Aiden at that point almost fainted when he heard a cough. “Hi Razz.”
Aiden slowly turned his head and gulped, “Um… hi Razz.”
Razz sighed and walked out of the room, ‘I’m getting too old for this.’
