Chapter 4b - Previous Day
Chapter 4 - Previous Day (Part 2)
When the class was over, Alan approached Jess as they left the classroom. “Do you wish to go to the park with me?”
They walked together in the hallway heading towards the exit. “What for?”
“So we can talk.”
“What do we have to talk about anyway? Why can’t we have the conversation now?”
“You know. We can talk about things like..you and me.” He said
“I don’t think..”
“You won’t regret it.” Alan took her hand in his and started down the street towards the park. He could not believe how soft her hand was. Her skin is like a new born baby’s skin. So soft to the touch he would not want to ever let go.
Jessica did not say anything as they walked together like a couple holding hands. She wanted to break free from his embracing hand but she could not. Her heart was racing. It was the first time that a guy ever held her hand like that.
The awkward silence continued until they reached the park. They sat on the bench where there was a tree to block the radiant sun.
“Um..can I have my hand back?” Jess asked.
He reluctantly released her from his grip. Never did he hold a girl’s hand for so long.
They watched the kids play in the playground. The summer was getting pretty warm and school was almost over. The summer breeze blew against Jessica’s hair making her look even more attractive than ever.
“Hey!?” They both said at the same time.
“You first.” She said
“No, you first.”
“Okay, why did you hold my hand before?”
“Wasn’t it obvious? I love you.” Alan was so straight forward with his confession. “Do you think I can take you out on a date sometime?”
Before Jess can answer him, three kids from school approached Alan. “Oh look who’s here. It’s Alan. How did you get here anyway? Did someone leave your cage open? Hahah..” Rick, one of the biggest bully in the school, and the other two kids laughed so hard. This guy always picked on Alan because he does not fight back. He got suspended countless times for bringing a weapon to school, starting fights with other students, disrespecting the teacher, and more. “And who is this hot girl?”
Jessica moved closer to Alan as he stare at Rick and the other two kids.
Rick went and grabbed Alan off the bench holding on to his shirt. “I asked you a damn question and I expect you to answer me.”
Jessica stood up and said, “Stop it, leave him alone.”
“Oh, you are going to let a girl defend you? Haha. What a whimp.” He pushed Alan several feet.
Alan fell and he stood there facing the ground.
“Alan!” Jessica tried to run to Alan but Rick grabbed her by the arm and pulled her against him.
“Babe, you can hang out with me instead.” Rick and the other two kids laughed.
She tried to push him off of her. As she struggled, Alan got up and headed towards Rick.
“Let her go!”
The other two kids held on to Jessica while Rick turn towards Alan. Alan dashed and threw a punch at Rick in the face which dislocated his jaw. Alan would never have the guts to fight back. This Alan was definitely not himself.
“Don’t ever touch her or I will kill you.” Alan’s angrily piercing stare hit the other two kids which at the same time they let go of Jess.
The two kids helped Rick up to his feet. His dislocated jaw brought unbearable pain. They kept their distance as Alan stepped closer. “Let’s get the hell out of here.” Rick ordered.
“Are you okay?” Jessica took Alan’s arm and checked out the abrasion that he got from the fall when he was pushed down. “Who were those kids anyway?”
Alan smiled at her “They are nobody.”
They sat there at the park for the rest of the afternoon conversing with each other until the sun started to set. Alan’s confession earlier was brought to attention once again. As the afternoon gone, they got more intimate. He agreed to have dinner at Jess’ house.
