Jenna T. -- Asskissing Appreciated--Mauh!
C.5 Jenna T. – Asskissing appreciated. Mauh!
Actually I’m kissing your ass this time. Mauh, muah, mauh. (brushing lips, pft) Thank you for being Loyal and consistently reviewing my work. I do appreciate the time and effort you put in. This also goes out to those who do review people’s work you read. It is a shot in the arm and some days that is the catalyst to get back on the keyboard.
Hint. Hint. HINT. Not just little ol’ moi. There are other writers on AFF begging for feedback. Even a little note like, ‘I liked it, write more” or “Have you ever heard of paragraphs?” would be appreciated.
So that is part of the answer to your question
Q: SOMETIMES, IF YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE WRITING, HOW DO YOU MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO WRITE?
If you have an active readership – reading, reviewing, commenting or ranting at you—that is a really strong motivator. You feel a need to feed their ravenous appetite. It is a vicious circle. You offer up chapters. They are devoured greedily and they demand more and more. You type your fingers to the bone and yet they are still grabby.
Which I really really love. Just don’t take my hand off. (teehee)
Truly, feedback works well for me. It makes me feel that I am on the right track and the story just continues to flow.
For example: (insert shameless promotion here) I WAS HIS – this is darker offering that just popped up one Sunday morning. It was fully intended to be a oneshot deal. I got begged. BEGGED I tell you to continue. So I did. That makes it sound so easy, it’s not. But it must have been bubbling in the back because I was able to add four more chappies to it.
If nothing is coming, I get out, do the friend thing, Now the weather is better, I plan on doing the golf thing. It seems when I’m relaxing I can get little flashes of brilliance in my otherwise dull dreary life. For example, I was stuck in traffic, just edging up half a car length every other minute, I got the fight scene with Hades and the boys—did I mention that I see this like little snippets of a movie? Carry a notebook with you and jot down ideas when they do pop up.
Sometimes, I get so far in a chappie and just hit nothing. Instead of knocking myself around for not being able to motor forward, I switch over to another program and occupy my mind with another task for a while.
I make AMV (amine music videos). I would have said you could look at them on youtube.com but the bastards *shaking my fists* banned me for life. I had 30 AMVs with a 45 subscribers then someone complained and not I got nothing (at least under kiix). WAH! I’m back there under just4kiix with only three of my non-yaoi AMVs.
So why did I mention that? I would flip between the two programs. It seems to work. I concentrate on something totally different then flip back and usually I can get a couple more paragraphs out or get back into motoring to the end of the chapter.
Other venues of inspiration is this wonderful new world of yaoi manga I have discovered within the past few months. Okay, looking at hot guys having hot sex is definitely a strong motivator. I am currently drooling over “Crimson Spell”; “Under Grand Hotel”; “Haru wo Daeit ita” and “Viewfinder” Yummy.
I guess when I said, everything….I meant everything. I just need a spark to get things going again. I guess I don’t care where the spark comes from, as long as it gets me moving.
Hope that helps…I rambled….did I? Yeah…but it’s all golden. ….hahahaha. j/k
