Part 5

"What'd she say?" Marcus asked.
"It sounds like your sisters gotta crush on me. She sounds pretty cool."
"Yea, I'm her brother and all, but even I have to admit she ain't that bad."
"Sounds pretty cheap to me." Timmy said under his breath.
"Hey, watch it!" Marcus yelled back.
I didn't want something to break out over something this stupid so I cut in. "Whatever, maybe I’ll give her a call later on tonight. But don't tell her, cause I'm not making any promises."
"Why would you want to call her, she's a skank." Timmy said.
"You better watch your fucken mouth prick!" Marcus yelled, obviously getting angry.
"Hey guys, quit it." I interjected. I nudged Timmy's arm and whispered, "What's your problem man?"
"Nothing." was all he said.

Marcus seemed to have calmed down and brought up a new topic. "Hey you live in the same area as me, wanna walk home with me after school?"
I didn't really feel like doing that long walk again but I didn't want to say no. "Sure, but why do you have to walk?"
"I have to stay after for an extra ten minutes to talk to the basketball coach. I mean, you don't have to, but I just hate walking all that way alone."
"I hear ya, it's no problem I’ll go. Hey Timmy, wanna walk home too?"

*Timmy’s View*
I didn't want to walk home again, but I didn't want to leave Marcus and Daylith alone, so I told him I’d wait up too. I could just imagine all the shit Marcus would say about me that Daylith doesn't know. Like how I don't have many friends, and how I usually show up for school a mess, and fail practically every subject. At least if I'm with them, they most likely won't talk about me.
The bus finally made it to the school and we got out to deal with another long and boring day. Since it was a blue day, I didn't have gym, so Daylith wasn't in any of my classes.
Once school was over I waited by the entrance stairs for a good fifteen minutes when Daylith and Marcus walked out. 'Looks like they're already good friends.' I thought to myself a little upset.

"Hey Timmy! Guess whose on the basketball team now? I just told the coach about my previous experience and I was automatically put on the team!" Daylith said excitedly.
"Awesome." I said.

While we were walking Daylith and Marcus spent a lot of time talking about basketball. Marcus is on the team too, which wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. He was 5'10" with an athletic build which were both good characteristics for basketball. However, it all made me hate him more.
Marcus is one of the most popular kids in school, which is why I was surprised he started talking to Daylith right away. I've always heard of his incidence in the science lab, his points scored in basketball, and not to mention the girls always talking about his "sexy dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes."
Now to top it all off he was taking all of Daylith’s attention. It pissed me off to think that they might become best friends, when I’ll just be a friend.

"I'm just gonna warn you now Daylith, but a lot of the people are pretty open on the basketball team so be on guard." Marcus stated.
"What's that mean?" Daylith asked curiously.
Marcus grinned, "No one in there's afraid to share the love," he said while reaching for Daylith's ass.
I couldn't believe the move Marcus just pulled and I was waiting to see how Daylith would react. A punch in the face seemed to fit the moment, however he lightly shoved him and said "your kidding."
"Nope, not at all. A lot of them like to goof around with each other, but it's all fun so don't worry about it."
"Well thanks for the warning." Daylith said while laughing.

I purposely slowed down a bit so that they were walking a few feet ahead of me. To be honest I didn't want to hear what they were talking about anymore. As I watched from behind I saw Marcus put his arm around Daylith's shoulder and pull him closer to whisper something into his ear. I tensed and closed my fingers tightly in a fist. Something told me that he was going to say something about me.

*Daylith’s View*
I noticed that Timmy was walking farther behind us and I felt bad. I didn't want him to think I was ignoring him, but when I was about to tell him to catch up with us Marcus put his arm around me to say something. It felt awkward being so close to someone I didn't really know, but I soon forgot about that after hearing what he had to say.
"So tell me, why are you hanging out with this trash?"
"Who, Timmy?"
"Yea. He's a loser and he's killing your image."
"What image?" I asked a little annoyed.

*Timmy's View*
Daylith and Marcus were so involved in their little conversation that they didn't notice I caught up with them and was directly behind them. By then I was able to hear what Marcus was saying. He was talking trash about me, just like I thought he would. I thought he’d at least have the decency not to say anything in front of me, but apparently not. However, what angered me the most was how Daylith just listened, rather than say anything in my defense.

"You know, you seem cool and in tune with everything around you and then you got this shit following you around." Marcus said to Daylith while looking directly at me from the corner of his eye.

That was it. That was all I needed to hear. I didn't care that he played basketball and looked tougher than me; I wasn't going to let him talk down to me right in front of me.
I quickly ran into him and grabbed him from behind. I used all my weight and strength to knock him to the ground and once I did I punched him as hard as I could a couple of times in the face. "Fucking asshole!” I yelled angrily between punches.
Once it dawned on him that he was in a fight he started to hit back and he landed one good punch in my eye but I still didn't stop. I was on top of him; therefore, I had the advantage as long as I could hold that position.
Just when I found another clear shot to his face I felt someone pulling on my shoulders, it was Daylith trying to break it up.
"Get the fuck off me Daylith!" I shouted while pulling away from him, but he held on strong.
"No! You need to calm down!" He yelled to me.
Marcus staggered to his feet and wiped the blood off his face while mumbling "Damn kid fucking hit me. Your gonna pay for that."

I couldn't stand being held back when I had so much pent up anger trying to get out and I channeled some of it towards Daylith since he wouldn't let go.
I managed to break an arm free and turned around to shove Daylith. He staggered back a few steps. "Fuck Daylith! Your supposed to be on my side. Fuck you!" I yelled and walked away leaving them staring after me.

*Daylith’s View*
I didn't know what to do. Out of no where Timmy just went wild on Marcus, I don’t blame him considering what Marcus was saying, but that seemed like a little much to me.
Once Timmy walked off I kind of felt torn between them. I didn't know whether to go after Timmy and end up leaving Marcus behind, or let Timmy just keep walking on his own. Anyway, that's what I ended up doing. Marcus sat down to take a breath, while I stood watching Timmy's form grow smaller and smaller.
