“Let me out of here!” Vicky Janson paced in the jail cell. “This is wrong! I can drive with a gun in my car!”
“Mrs. Janson, please. You know why you are here.” Keith came up. “You really should wait until your defense gets here before saying anything. Otherwise, you’re just giving me more fuel to convict you on.”
“And just when is he or she getting here?”
Vicky was a vicious woman when she wanted to be. From her pointed chin and slitted eyes, she looked plain mean. Her body much too slender, as if she’d been starving her self on a cigarette diet for years. Her hair was cut short and died white blonde. She was trying to hide the gray hairs that easily showed before.
“I don’t know..” He slid her lunch through to her. “Until then..shut up! I really don’t want to hear it.” Keith sighed at her low grumbling. “You really aren’t helping your case any. Most people do not sit and TALK about what they did wrong in the form of complaints!”
“He is right..despite his obvious agitated tone.” A suited man walked up. “Larry Timnis. I am your assigned defense. I assume you are Mrs. Vicky Janson? And you are detective Keith landers? Correct?”
“Yes on both counts.” Keith passed him. “Might want to talk to your client and tell her about all those keep your mouth shut rules. And there is no bail.” He smiled, walking off.
“What!?” Larry grunted. “Why do I get the hopeless ones?”
“Excuse me!” Vicky looked at him. “Did you just call me hopeless!?”
“You practically confessed everything to the officers that arrested you when you were complaining in the back seat!”
“A woman is perfectly allowed to carry protection with her when she is driving.” Vicky spoke in a snippity tone.
“While circling and stalking a family that you had previously called the department of Human services on? Looks bad on your part.” Larry sat down in a chair, across from the cell. “Now comes the stupid questions. You do understand why you’re in here, correct? And you do understand that by waiving the right to remains silent, as you have done repeatedly, prevents me from getting you out on bail as you have practically confessed? Realizing that it can be used against you in the court of law? And you do understand that should we go to trial, you will be asked to plea guilty on Murder one for the past charges, that were never taken to court and tried, for the murder of your husband?” He sighed. “So..guilty or innocent?”
“I do not appreciate your tone with me and Innocent of course! I was driven mad by my emotions!” Vicky looked away.
“How did I know you were going to say that?”
“Why don’t you stop asking questions and work on getting me out of here.” Vicky turned. “Okay?”
“I don’t have to take this case..I suggest you start minding your P’s and Q’s. Or this will end up like your last charge and go straight to conviction!” Larry looked at her sternly. “Understand?”
“So what can we do?” She nodded finally. Vicky was calming down. “And how can we get my grandson back from that..child thief?”
“One case at a time..” Her defense lawyer held a hand up. “Now..lets start with an explanation of these charges and why you did this.”
“Ask away..”
Vicky was beyond angry now. She was in jail again? She barely managed to get away from the first charges and now she was being tried for it, finally? Involuntary man slaughter was easier to work than this however. She would have to think pretty hard about things.

That evening, The Andrews
“Daddy! Mus! Mus!” Mikyle jumped on the bed. “Daddy!!”
“Hmm?” Markus grunted. “I thought I said it was bed time, son.”
“Daddy, Mus!” He pointed at the television. A screening of Free Willy was on. “Mus!!” Mikyle clapped and giggled. “Wikes Mus!”
“It’s bed time.” Markus sat up and hugged him. “Have to get our sleep.”
“Wans see Mus.” Mikyle pouted. “Daddy...Wans see mus?”
“Hold on son. Watch Shamu while daddy answers his phone.” Markus picked his ear piece up. “Hello?” He spoke tiredly.
“Yay! Mus!” Mikyle hugged his stuffed Shamu and giggled.
“No...that’s my son.” He stretched, yawning. “No, it’s okay. What did you need boss?” He glanced at Mikyle, chuckling. “Yes sir. I have that project almost finished. Hm? Oh..finally caught that, huh? Just found out my self..I’ll be bringing him home with me when I fly out of here on Saturday.” He blinked. “What? Alright..I can leave tomorrow morning. No, it’s okay. This project is important.” He nodded. “I will call just as soon as we arrive at the airport in New York then. Alright..” He clicked end on the ear piece.
“Daddy? Bye bye? Orks?” Mikyle climbed over beside him and hugged.
“Yep. We have to go bye, bye to New York.” Markus hugged him back. “Daddy’s job needs him back there.”
“Takes Mus?”
“Yes, son.” Markus chuckled and kissed his forehead. “We will take Shamu and all of your stuff.”
“Mmkay.” Mikyle cuddled in to the crook of his father’s arm. He shifted so he could see the Television as well. “See mus?”
“You can watch it.” Markus smiled, brushing a finger over the boys blonde locks. “But then you have to go night nights after it’s over.”
“Loves daddy.” Mikyle hugged him more.
Markus felt his heart beat faster. This was the first time Mikyle had said that to him. He looked at the boy and smiled. Yet inside he was frowning too. He could see so much of Jade inside him. He had a perfect face and his hair was a nearly white blonde. When you added his eyes, he was a very beautiful little boy. Markus could see his son already shooing away the girls at school. Jade used to be the same way. He could almost hear her laughing and see her smiling through Mikyle.
“Daddy loves you too.”
Markus hugged him. The boy stifled a yawn as he continued to watch the show. Markus couldn’t help but think he had to be the luckiest man in the world right now. But before he knew it, the sun was rising and Little Mikyle was up already. Sleep must have crept up on him when he wasn’t expecting it.
“Daddddy.” Mikyle pounced him on the bed. “Daddy!”
“I’m up.” Markus grunted. “Im up.”
“Bye byes now?” Mikyle smiled and hugged his Shamu toy. “To orks.”
“Oh!” Markus sat up and fumbled for his phone. “Daddy almost forgot.”
“Silly daddy.” Mikyle fell to his side and giggled.
“Yeah..hello? Great..I need your first available flight to New York City New York.” Markus shhd Mikyle. “First class, one adult and one child.” He nodded. “He is two..and yes, I know he could ride in my lap but I would rather he be able to have a seat to sit in and sleep on if he wishes.” Markus grabbed a pen and paper. “Mmhmm..okay. Markus Andrews. I should have a return flight in your computer. Just trade that in for the adult faire and then use the listed card, under my name, to get the other ticket.”
“Tickets?” Mikyle looked up at him.
“Shh..” Markus smiled. “Great. Don’t worry about the change over fees. Just charge it. Alright..so..Nine Thirty Am? Flight 412, Red line to New York City. Gate C..Got it. Thanks.”
“Go Orks now?”
“In...” Markus looked at his watch. “About three hours. We have to get you packed and say bye to grandma, grandpa and Aunty Patty first.”
“Fwys?” Mikyle asked.
“Yes. We are going to ride in a big airplane.” He chuckled and got up from bed. “Gotta get you packed Little man.”
“Mikyle helps!” He got off the bed. “I helps daddy.”
“Alright..but first..You need a diaper change.”
“Uh oh..I go..” Mikyle nodded.
“We have to seriously work on this potty training thing.” Markus sighed. “And pack and do everything else..” There just wasn’t enough of him to go around.

Airport
“I really wish you didn’t have to leave so soon.” Melissa hugged Markus. “But we understand. A job is a job.”
“I’m gonna miss my Shamu loving little nephew.” Patty kissed his cheek and hugged him. “You be a good boy for your daddy, okay?”
“Tays.” Mikyle hugged back. “Loves pat pat.”
“Aww.” She hugged him more. “He loves me.” Patty sniffled.
“He said he loved me last night when he snuck the Television on. Don’t know how he did it but he found a killer whale show on.” Markus chuckled.
“Don’t hog all the hugs.” Melissa joined Patty in the hug. “And he found a Shamu show because he is a special boy.”
“You guys need to come visit me. I have an extra room, after I give Mikyle one. Then I have a living room and a sitting room and a den. Trust me..I have the space.” Markus sighed, looking at his father. “I know you don’t like big cities but..it’s a great apartment. It over looks Central park. There is a lot to do.”
“Maybe later, son. It will take some time for me to get used to the thought of heading to a place like New York. All that hustle and bustle, just too busy for me.” He hugged Markus. “I’m just a small town boy. Always have been, always will be.”
“Don’t worry. I will make him come.” Melissa pulled away. “Now..got all the baggage?”
“I believe so..My two suit cases and Mikyles’s six.” Markus chuckled. “No..he had seven. I forgot the extra you bought him.”
“And your carry ons?” Patty reluctantly handed Mikyle over. “His little game we got him..and everything is in the back pack.”
“Yes, I have it on, see? And my carry on is right here.” He held his briefcase up in his free hand. Mikyle was in the other arm. “If I forgot anything, you guys can just...bring it back to me in New York your selves.” Markus smiled. “So be there..in a couple weeks. I should have everything straightened up with the papers and all. Alright?”
“We are going to have to drug daddy.” Patty laughed. “No offense.” She smiled at her father.
“Ohh!” Melissa hugged Markus and Mikyle. “I am going to miss you. Call us often.”
“We’ll be there, son. I might be sedated or in restraints, but we’ll be there.” He shook Markus’ hand heartily. He had hugged him once, and he just wasn’t the overly emotional types like the girls. He was proud of his son, both for how he was doing, and the way he was doing it. He didn’t say it, though the look in his eyes and firm grip of the shake conveyed everything. “Son, I… I’ll see you in a couple weeks, okay?”
“Gate C now boarding. Flight 412 to New York City. “ The announcement came.
“Well, that’s us.” Markus shook he hand back, then took his briefcase back from his sister. “Thanks.”
“I’ll hold this.” Patty hugged Mikyle and stepped back with him in her arms. “See you later.”
“Daddy!” Mikyle blinked.
“Hey now..” Markus chuckled. “I need him.”
“We will see them in a few weeks, Patty.” Melissa made her hand him back over. “We love you.”
“Loves!” Mikyle hugged onto Markus. “I go orks with Mus.” He held his Shamu toy in his other hand.
“Flight 412 , Redline to New York, Now boarding. Please have all tickets ready for the gate attendant.” The announcer said again.
“We really have to go.” Markus turned, walking away. “We will see you all soon.” He called back.
Jack watched as Markus walked towards his departure gate. “He’s not our little boy anymore. He’s all grown up and becoming a fine young man.” He had a slight glint in his eyes, a wet glistening, yet he never let the tears come. He was proud of him, a fine young man indeed, enough to make any man proud of him.
The bustle of the airport swooped over the moment, washing it away in the crowds. A young couple, hugging each other close with a pile of luggage near them. Either one was leaving, or had just returned. Several business men in suits talking about analytical reports of an upcoming merger. Two younger girls, whispering and talking to each other, glancing at the young man with the kid handing his ticket to the gate attendant. Pointing out the fact that was young and eligible, countered by the fact was holding his son, so there had to be a wife, too bad. And then the counter-counter point of no wedding ring, and the inevitable sigh of dreaming. And then they were gone from sight, heading down the walkway.

“Daddy!” Mikyle looked out the window, gasping. “Daddy!! Waters! Mus lives theres!”
“Hm?” Markus sat up, stretching. “Look at how far down that is.” He smiled.
“I wana see mus..” Mikyle pressed his nose to the glass. They were only about half way through the flight. “Ohh.” The boy was in constant amazement. “Looks!”
“Okay Mikyle,” Markus chuckled. “Calm down, son. Look..daddy brought his lap top. You can watch Shamu on it.” He set up the computer table. “Want to see Shamu?” His father invested in a couple of Free willy Dvd’s for the trip home for them. Markus was seeing that this was a good plan. “Better sit down if you want to see Shamu.”
“Okay!” Mikyle sat down and hugged his toy..”I watch mus.” He said excitedly.
Markus started the movie, leaning back to watch the movie with Mikyle. He glanced over at his son, remembering his first airplane trip. He didn’t remember being quite this excited, though he had been older. H scooted as close as he could in the seat, smiling at him as he watched the screen. There had been so much he had missed, and he hadn’t even realized it until now.
“Excuse me.” One of the girls from earlier sat down in the seat across from them. “Hi...he is so cute. I had to say that. I hope you don’t mind.” She was maybe nineteen and had blood red hair. Her eyes were green and she had a nice younger looking face. “Names Brianna.”
Mikyle normally would have said hu but his eyes were glued to the screen. He suckled on a sippy cup and cuddled his Shamu. He was in love with the Killer meat eating whale.
“Hmmm? Thanks,” Markus replied, glancing at her. “My son, Mikyle. I’m Markus Andrews. I’m… uh, sorry if he was a little loud. It’s his first plane trip and all. Think he’s just a little over excited.” She looked somewhat familiar, and he realized he had probably seen her at the airport, since she was on the plane. “Going to New York?” He winced internally, as she obviously was, being on the plane. Was he that bad at making small talk with people he didn’t know? Business, he didn’t have problems, but now? What was wrong with him?
“Yeah.” She laughed. “Going to see my Aunt and Uncle. Also check out New York University. I am applying for a scholarship there.” She leaned back in the seat and smiled. “So how about you? Taking him home to see mommy? Or bringing the lucky little guy with you on a business trip while mommy gets a vacation?” Brianna was very slick. “Oh and he isn’t an issue. I think he is adorable.”
“No, I’m taking him home with me while I attend to some business,” Markus said. “I… just found out about him while visiting home. His mother… passed away, and I’m raising him now.” He got quiet for a little bit. Even though he hadn’t seen Jade in some time, the loss of her still affected him strongly. And he was adorable, just like her in so many ways. “New York University is a good school. Going there myself. When not working and all that.”
“Really? I want to study business management. I hope to someday manage my own fashion store. And I heard NYU is the best business colleges around.” Brianna frowned though. “Also..didn’t mean to upset you about his mum. Sorry it happened. But..I think it is really classy and stand up of you to take him and raise him. Most guys leave the kids with the moms or grandmothers.”
“It’s alright. We… really weren’t close the last three years.” He smiled, watching Mikyle intent on the screen. “And not sure about fashion, but it definitely has the best Business Management courses in the nation. And, if you have the chance, take Professor Blake’s Economics class. Definitely the better one.” He turned to look at her more directly. “You from England? Not to many people call their mother ‘mum’.” To be honest, he found her mode of talking quite refreshing, as it wasn’t common, and sounded quite nice.
“Born and raised. Travel all over with my twin sister and my father. Our mum lives in England full time though.” Brianna smiled.
“Breezy.” Another red head came in. “There you are. I was looking all over for you. Dad is wondering where you...” She blinked seeing the Young suit wearing man. “Oh..well Bobs your uncle.” They were exact twins.
“Will you stop?” Brianna chuckled. “Markus, this is Amber, my sister. And Amber..This is Mr, Markus Andrews and his sone Mikyle. I think he would say hi but he is watching mus as he calls him.”
“Ohh! We saw you earlier. He is so cute. We fell in love with him.” She sat in another empty seat. “I love his name.” Amber grinned. “It is so..unique.”
And now there were two nineteen year old girls, from England, talking to him.
“Please, call me Markus. My dad is Mr. Andrews,” Markus replied. “Though I don’t have an Uncle Bob. Or is he your uncle?” He blinked slightly. He was a bit confused by the whole Uncle Bob thing. “Flying with your father?” He wasn’t sure about how that would look, either. Father’s tended to be a bit protective of their daughters, and to see some unknown person talking to his daughters, and with a son no less, well, he might not take it too well. “How is your father, anyways? Not too… you know… strict?”
“Silly.”
Both girls giggled.
“Bobs your uncle is brit slang. Means well there you go.” Amber answered.
“And our father is too busy flirting with the flight attendants to notice what we do. You know British business men.” Brianna said.
Both girls giggled again. The father was just as cute as the son.
“Oh. That makes more sense now,” Markus said, smiling. He got the sense that there was something else that he was missing, though neither seemed willing to tell him what it was. Maybe it wasn’t that important, anyways. They spent the next hour talking at great length, not noticing how quickly the time passed. And Mikyle was perfectly content to hold his sippy cup and watch his ‘Shamu’ on the computer screen.
