It Has Begun
“This is it.” Ralfaiel said as they came upon the small, slightly rundown cabin in the middle of nowhere.
Lionheart scoffed a bit and leaned down to check the small scrapes on her legs. She had become upset when she finally realized that she had been chasing him with no idea of where they were going, however, he’d been leading her here all along.
The trees and shrubs scrapped her as she ran after Ralfaiel. Thinking of it now she didn’t even remember what possessed her to follow him in the first place. Now Tierra was alone with the amazons and she was alone with the only person that knew how to read her. She shivered at the thought of what he was capable of and hoped he didn’t notice.
He was ecstatic. There was no other girl in the world that could match her passion with his own. And she was with him now.
“What is this place?” She asked, trying to hide her excitement.
“It was my mother’s hideaway back when she met my father.” He answered, pretending not to notice the change in her voice.
“Her hideaway?” She asked in an unconvinced manner.
“Yeah, she was an amazing thief and she tried to steal from my father and got caught. Um, it’s a long story. But we can stay here until the wet season passes.” He answered.
Lionheart laughed at this. She didn’t know if he was serious, but she was half-frightened that he might be. What could she do? There was nowhere else for her to go and the wet season had just begun, she didn’t want to risk getting lost. He did seem to know where he was.
“Well, if I have to live with you I at least need to know you’re name.” She said.
“I’m Ralfaiel Jasper.” He answered.
“I’m Lionheart…um, Pallari.” She responded, trying to place his last name. She knew she’d heard it somewhere before.
“Lionheart, huh? How fitting. How old are you, Lionheart?” He asked with his piercing eyes staring straight into hers. He took her breath away.
“Old enough.” She replied with her chin up.
“Ah, so we end the questions. Well, Lionheart, I am nineteen years old, the son of a high court magician and a well-known thief. I hail from St. Regnault, to the north. Would you mind humoring me with your response.” He continued.
Lionheart was astonished. She knew who he was now…He had to be Eohl’s son. There were other court magicians with his last name but the only one she knew had children was Eohl. She could even see it now. They looked the same, only Ralfaiel seemed more tender and gentle then Eohl ever had.
“You’re Eohl’s boy aren’t you?” She asked.
“Yes, I am.” He laughed. “And you’re Cassido’s girl?”
“How did you know that?” She demanded.
“I’ve known your father all my life, your mother too. I know everything there is to know about you and your family.” He said.
“Do you?” She asked defiantly.
“Yes, I do. I know that your hair falls down to your ass when it’s not braided. You only unbraid it when you sleep. You brush your hair in four sections, with a hundred strokes for each. I know you practice fencing in your yard with your father and your younger brother helps your mother with the housework. I know how your mother and father met. And… I know you want me.” He smirked.
Lionheart rolled her eyes; to hide how incredibly pleased she was to know that he’d been watching her for a while. They had fallen into silence, standing in front of one another just sizing each other up. Suddenly, Ralfaiel came closer to her, wrapped his arms around her waist, and pulled her closer, burying his face in her neck. He held her so close that he could hear her just melting.
She held her breath for fear that her heartbeat would give her away. She needed to get away from him before she lost herself in his arms. If only he felt the same way about her, she wouldn’t have to fight him so hard. She just knew that he was toying with her, the same as he always did. Everything about him just fascinated her; she knew it would get in the way. Oh, how she wished he would just get it over with and kiss her; she was longing for him to do it. He raised his head and looked at her. She was a sight to see; holding her breath, squeezing her eyes shut. He leaned in and their noses touched, their lips were ever so close, yet his only just grazed hers. He pulled away and let out a chuckle. Her eyes instantly popped open.
“You are a piece of work.” He went on.
She was pissed. She pushed him away with all her might, but he only stumbled.
“Let’s get one thing straight between us,” She screamed, “I am a person. Not a toy! You can’t just go around and mess with my head. I’ve got important business that you keep getting in the way of and I’m not certain that I want to stay with you through the rain!”
He continued with his amused celebrating, “You women work just like my father said,” he laughed, “push a few of their buttons and their all yours.”
“Excuse me?”
“Oh, stop it!” he demanded as he came close to her again, “ You act like I’ve already had you. Is that because you want me to take you or because you know I have the power to do so either way?”
“God, you arrogant bastard!” she said as she pushed him away again.
Lionheart stomped her way into the small cabin and left him outside in the rain. She didn’t know how to calm herself down. Her intuition was telling her to give in to him and that he wasn’t really such an ass. But her instincts were telling her that he only wanted what was between her legs. She was almost considering it just to keep him from tormenting her as he did.
It was just as bad inside as it looked outside, rundown. It must’ve been years since anyone stayed here.
“Look, I’m sorry.” His voice rang out.
She turned to look at him; he was standing in the doorway.
“My father openly despises humans. All of them except my mother. He toyed with her the way I do you. He won her heart and they made a son. My mother taught me how to steal, my father taught me to be like him. It’s all I know…. I wasn’t allowed around other children. And I’ve always been searching for a companion with which I could have a bond like the one my parents share.” He explained.
“So, I’m supposed to forgive you because you don’t know any better?” she asked forcefully.
“To tell you the truth, you are a fascinating creature. And I don’t want to chase you away. No matter how hard I try, I can’t keep from looking at you, I can’t keep from putting my hands on you, I can’t stop teasing you because I know you want me the same way I want you. I don’t know how to explain what you do to me. I just know I don’t want it to stop…. and even if I don’t have you, I know you have me.” His gentle voice drifted to her.
“Well, Ralfaiel, I suggest that you learn some manners and keep your distance. I may fascinate you but you scare the shit out of me. I think we need to concentrate on how were going to survive these few months that we’ll be together.”
“I’ve got it covered.” He said as he clapped his hands together and chanted for a moment.
Suddenly, the room lit up and the holes in the roof and walls filled themselves, the rain within dried, the fire pit was set ablaze and the interior of the cabin became that of a normal and modern home.
“Lionheart, do you want to change out of your wet clothes?” he asked sincerely.
She nodded, and he left the room. She could hear him open a door in another section of the house. He returned carrying some old robes.
“I can help you, if you don’t mind. I promise I’ll keep eye contact with you the entire time.” He sounded sincere enough but she still didn’t know what to say.
He walked up to her and peered straight into her eyes as he began to unbutton her dress. He slid the arms off her shoulders and the dress fell to the floor. She wasn’t wearing a corset but she did thankfully have on her panties. He never once took his eyes off of hers as he place the robes as they went on her body. They were both breathing heavy from the experience. Lionheart was terrified that he wouldn’t keep his promise and would take advantage of her nakedness. She cursed her father, no matter how well he taught her to fight she was unprepared for Ralfaiel, and all he was capable of doing to her. She could feel herself blushing. All he could do was smile at her. He was scared that he had violated her yet again, but she wasn’t retaliating and that pleased him.
“I’m eighteen,” she said finally, “the daughter of Cassido and Yuzanot Pallari, the weapons designer for the empire and his housewife. I hail from the capitol city.”
“I know.” He whispered to her as he held her gaze, “you’re blushing.”
“I know.” She said softly.
“Why?” he asked innocently.
“Because…. You can see right through me….” She answered.
His face began to flush as bright as she felt hers.
“You’re blushing.” She whispered to him.
“I know.” He said.
“Why?” she asked gently.
“Oh… cause I’m thinking of all the things I’d like to do to you, and you can see right through me.” He answered.
A moment passed. Or was it an hour? There was no way of knowing. Ralfaiel reached out and touched her face.
“There’s a back room. It has a large bed. You can have it, I’ll stay and sleep in this room.” He said.
She pressed his hand closer to her, “Thank you.”
He released her and watched her as she swayed her way into the back room and shut the door. There was a large sleigh bed in the middle of the room, a fireplace I the wall to the right with a fire in it. The room was quite warm and the blankets on the bed looked to be heavy, so she decided it would be all right to undress and sleep.
As her clothes hit the floor she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She went up to it for a closer look. She was quite happy with her body but there was more she wanted from it. Her face was angular and strong, her hair was long and full and she liked the way it’s darkness contrasted her milky complexion and brought out the swell of her breasts and the full roundness of her hips. Her waist wasn’t tiny but it was perfect for connecting her upper half with her lower half. Her legs were long and toned, however, they were a bit scuffed up from her chase with Ralfaiel; nothing a bath wouldn’t fix. But she wasn’t worried about them right now. It was late and she was exhausted. She smiled at her body in the mirror and turned away to the bed. She climbed in between the sheets and fell quickly to sleep. It was odd that she didn’t feel as though she shouldn’t be here. It was all going to be fine.
Ralfaiel could still smell her. Always the same: milk and honey. It was intoxicating, all he could think of was her. Her smooth skin, her enticing voice, and her supple form, she was in his blood, in his skin and in his mind. He just wanted to touch her, to taste her and wanted to know her in everyway he could. He wanted to pleasure her, but wasn’t too sure how. This was the first time he’d been with someone in this place. Let alone, the first time with a human girl that he really felt something for. And she was going to stay with him for quite a while. He couldn’t contain himself. He headed for the door.
This would be his third wet season to stay in his mother’s home. He normally came here to escape the pressure that his father put on him to be a magician and to renounce his human half. His father loved his mother, but he still didn’t trust her. Mainly, because she was the only person to break down his walls, and she was and will always be the only human to hold his life so delicately in balance. If she were to betray him, his sanity would be lost. He prayed for his father’s faith in the species to be stronger. It was pretty obvious that humans were very sexual creatures, however, this was a fact that scared them to no end. They went so far as to look down on it as a bad thing and they banished these thoughts from their minds, calling them sins in which they would suffer in the afterlife for pursuing. This was all ludicrous to him. It wasn’t a wonder to him why they all suffered war and hatred, none of them ever experienced a forbidden passion as the one between he and Lionheart. If only he could have her, and if only she hadn’t been raised on these narrow-minded values. She would never hesitate to do what he knew deep down her body was telling her to do. He wanted to feel her all around him, with her soft body crashing against his. He wanted to feel the passion that she was holding back released on him like a raging current until they collapsed on each other from the exhaustion. He wanted her to be his woman forever; it was all he could think about.
Outside he decided to take dip in the creek that ran through the backyard. It would calm him down and distract his thoughts about her. Getting away from her scent would be enough to keep him contained. Still his thoughts kept drifting back to her. She was in his house, in his bed, in his mind. He needed to have her.
He returned to the house with only his leggings to cover him. He quietly made his way into the back room. She was sleeping soundly under the covers. He could see her clothes on the floor; he knew he was losing his self-control.
He leaned over her and ran his fingers over her cheek. She stirred a little and he bent down further and pressed his lips to hers. Her eyes flew open and she instantly sat up in bed. The blankets were wrapped tightly around her chest, this she made sure of.
“What are you doing?” she demanded.
“What can I do to make you mine?” He asked as his piercing eyes once again struck her.
She was speechless. She couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t think. She was in that situation again. What could she do? Why couldn’t she think faster than this?
“Can I have you, Lionheart?” He asked with a profound sincerity.
He didn’t wait for her answer. He just kissed her with an intense passion. At first she didn’t respond but soon his advance was met with a startling bolt of energy. What happened then surprised them both. The room seemed to have disappeared completely. It was no trick of the mind; they were in the rain again. The cool drops falling all around them. Lionheart pulled away from him for a second and the room came back leaving them both soaked in the bed. She looked around for a second and then back at him, the same expression was on both their faces. Lionheart had never experienced a reaction like that before; Ralfaiel had every time they kissed. However, this time it was a physical reaction instead of just in his head.
“What was that?” she asked.
“To be honest, I don’t know.” He answered.
He raised his hand and let his fingers trace her chin. The electricity shot through them as he ran them down her neck and fingered her collarbone. Her skin literally tingled at his touch. Their adrenaline was pumping maybe because they were excited, or maybe because they were slightly frightened. But it didn’t stop there…. He placed both of his hands on her shoulders and traced along her arms. The sensation spread and soon Lionheart grew curious. She leaned in and pressed her lips to his. The room once again disappeared, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she traced the muscles in his chest and torso. It must’ve been too much for him, because he violently took her hand off of his skin. He did not release her though; he began to intertwine her fingers with his own. When their palms met the rain stopped. They were now somewhere in the middle of a field of wildflowers with grass shielding them from anyone’s view.
Ralfaiel knew at once where they were. This was St. Regnault, where he was born; this was his backyard. He pulled Lionheart closer as he kissed her deeper. Her resolve was melting away. Their bodies touched and sent a spark through them both. Ralfaiel had to break the kiss. They were back in the bedroom.
They were separated now not just by air but by silence. They stared at one another trying to figure out if the other could see what the other had. Their heavy breathing was the only thing that could be heard.
“Is it scaring you?” Lionheart asked.
“Slightly.” He answered simply, “You?”
“Slightly.” She replied.
“Should we stop?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” she shrugged, “what is it?”
Ralfaiel rubbed his chin thinking hard. He got off the bed and paced around the room for a moment. He seemed perplexed, like he couldn’t even think of an explanation for these strange events. He didn’t seem to remember that she was even there. She got out of the bed, grabbed one of the robes from the floor and quickly wrapped it around her. She rushed to him as if it were the right thing to do.
“What’s wrong.” She asked as she reached for his arm.
The moment her fingertips touched his skin the sparks flew. He turned around quickly, grabbing her wrist, and yanked her up. She flew up as if she weighed nothing at all. He wrapped her legs around his waist and forced her against the wall. Their fingers intertwined and he kissed her hard. The scenery around them changed in a flurry of people’s faces and cries along with the weather. One moment they were in the rain, the next in his field at home, another they were in a cave, so on and so forth until they reached a stop in St. Regnault once again.
Ralfaiel’s fingers traced the curves of her body, touching every spot she wanted him to. He forced the robe she was wearing off her shoulders revealing her nakedness to him. He was pleased with her, she was more beautiful than he’d ever imagined. He licked and nipped at her breasts as the scenery became more violent. She gently cried out as his teeth ran across the most sensitive spot, sending them further into the strange world they were seeing. The sensations were growing unbearable but neither of them wanted it to stop. Lionheart grabbed his hair and pulled his face away from her body. He looked into her eyes, his own full of passion and lust. He kissed her hard again as his palms swept over her chest.
“You can have me.” She answered as they kissed.
Ralfaiel no longer held back. He sank with her to the floor and quickly untied his leggings. They never lost eye contact. Her eyes were showing a growing fear.
“Don’t be scared of me. I won’t hurt you.” He assured her.
She nodded and closed her eyes as he slid into her. She gasped as he broke past the barrier, creating an uncomfortable pressure that soon went away with his quickening thrusts. Their bodies crashed together as the scenery continued to change. They floated in the air one moment and sank into the ocean as their hands wondered and touched one another. He nipped at her neck and licked her lips and she whimpered for him as the chills ran through her. He caused a feeling inside her that she couldn’t describe. Maybe the electricity between them was now inside her, she didn’t know. Her back arched up and his arm wrapped around her and pulled her up. Their torsos connected and it sent more tingling through them both. His fingers traced her spine as she began to rock against him. It was driving them both wild. She inhaled sharply as he thrust against her one last time, her body convulsed and a brilliant light flooded over them. Almost instantly, they were under a waterfall with the cool waters washing away their sweat. She stayed in his lap with her arms draped over his shoulders and his arms around her waist. They breathed heavily, resting under the cool waters with their heads on one another’s shoulder.
“Lionheart?” he asked breaking the silence.
“Yes?” she responded.
“I think I love you.” He said slightly unsure of himself.
She pressed herself firmly against him as a smile spread across her lips. She raised her head up so that she could see his face. She kissed him gently, barely letting her lips touch his. He loosened his hold on her and she stood up from him. As they were no longer touching the room came back to them. Ralfaiel stood up and retied his pants. He took a deep breath as she reached down and replaced the robe around her. She turned back to him with a questioning look on her face, but it was obvious that he didn’t know what had happened between them. He came to her and hugged her tightly.
“I’ll keep my word,” he said as he pulled away, “I’ll see you in the morning. Sorry to have disturbed you.”
She nodded at him and let him go. He walked through the door and smiled at her as he closed it behind him. Lionheart was thrilled; she could barely keep herself contained. She went back to bed and fell asleep.
Lionheart scoffed a bit and leaned down to check the small scrapes on her legs. She had become upset when she finally realized that she had been chasing him with no idea of where they were going, however, he’d been leading her here all along.
