Disclaimer: All of the characters in this chapter belong to me and my friend, any resemblance to any real people, places, or happenings are by chance. So don’t sue me so I can keep writing.
Cautions: A little kiss… but this chapter is pretty safe. No reason to be alarmed in this chapter.
Authors Notes: Some more sadness is in this chapter… but not as extreme as the last chapter! Also, thank you very much for all the lovely reviews we have been receiving!
madlodger: Well, whenever Joshua gets more feelings then he should, too nervous or too excited, he tends to start loosing feathers, meaning his wings are close to appearing. And the reason why Derek and Joshua seem to have a quicker connection then most, will be told in later, later, chapters.
And I’ll say it again to the other reviews, thank you very much!
Chapter 5: So… Who Are You Again…?
As Derek's body fell to the ground, Joshua's did with it. He laid there for a moment and then got up. "Derek! Derek! Are you okay?" He rolled over his body so that his head was on his lap. "Derek..." he said in a small soft voice.
Derek flinched in pain as someone called to him. All he remembered was a flash of pain before he blacked out. As he flinched again, he opened his eyes revealing pitch black eyes.
"Derek?" Joshua asked lightly, relieved that he was awake, admiring his deep black eyes.
As he opened his eyes completely, he gazed wondrously at beautiful hazel eyes. "Who are you?"
Joshua blinked for a moment at him, confused. "What do you mean who am I? I'm Joshua. Don't you...remember?" he asked softly, his eyes filling with more tears. He didn't even remember him...
Derek blinked a few times. "You have...such beautiful eyes..." Derek wondered aloud as he gazed into those eyes.
Joshua's eyes softened. "Th...Thank y-y-you..." he murmured softly, wiping his face with the back of his palm. "Yours are very handsome as well." He was relieved and happy that Derek was at least alive and alright.
As soon as Derek removed his gaze from Joshua's eyes, he looked around in panic. "What the hell...What am I doing here? Mini golf?!" He questioned himself in shock. Why was he here? This place wasn’t even considered cool…
Joshua sighed. "You and I were going to play a game of miniature golf, but your demonic side came out and...Tried to....yeah...” he sighed again. He then jumped up and blushed a bright red, realizing he was still not wearing any pants. He quickly pulled his clothing back on, his wings having disappeared.
Derek stood up on his own and looked around. "Look, I don't know who you are or where we are but...I don't know you. So if you don't mind, I'll be heading home." Derek replied as he began walking off.
Joshua got to his feet as well. "But...but..." Tears filled his eyes again. "Derek..." he hugged Derek's turned back, tears getting onto Derek's back.
Derek turned around to glare at the younger boy. "I have no clue who you are. Leave me alone and...Stop stalking me!" He said angrily, beginning to walk off again after efficiently pushing the younger one off of him.
Joshua stood there, watching him leave, more tears streaming down his cheeks. "But...Derek....I...love you..." he said, beginning to get the hiccups.
Derek ignored the boy as he walked back to school. Wasn't there some girl he was supposed to meet? Amber was her name, wasn't it?
Joshua sighed and got up, slowly walking in the other direction back toward their school. He had fallen for someone and been rejected, and almost been raped. What a day.
As Derek entered the school cafeteria 10 minutes later, he looked around for the only person he remembered. Amber.
Amber was sitting at the table. She burped, having eaten all of the food. What?! She had gotten hungry!
Derek walked over to her and sat down. "Hey." He said towards the girl, the only one he remembered meeting.
Amber looked up. "Derek? Hiiii!" she squealed, sitting across from him with her chin in her palms, her elbows on the table. "Where'd you go for so long? I worried..."
"I was..." He looked up in thought. Where was he? "I was going to by you flowers but the shops were all closed." He lied. At least he thought he lied, he had no clue if he actually did that or not.
"Oh, how sweet of you!" She blushed red and continued to gush over him.
Joshua walked into the school building, pushing open the door to the cafeteria. At least he still had Amber as a friend. He gasped quite loudly as he saw Derek sitting with her. How could he not remember him but remember Amber?! He stomped over to the table, furious.
"Well of course, but not as sweet as-" He stopped as the same boy he saw at the golf park came over to his table. "Didn't I tell you to stop following me?"
"I didn't follow you! I came to see the only friend I still have!" Joshua yelled, new tears stinging his cheeks.
Amber glared at Joshua, mouthing the words, "What are you doing here? You're messing this up for me!"
Derek looked to Amber. "Do you know this stalker?" He asked rudely, his eyes narrowing in distaste at the sudden interruption with the same male.
She looked at him a bit shocked. "Yes. You met him earlier today, remember? This..." she gestured toward Joshua without even looking at him, "is Joshua. Remember? You asked me if he was always so..." she glared at Joshua as she said the last word in her sentence. "Annoying..."
Joshua frowned; new tear falling down his cheeks. "I see. I'll go then..." he slowly walked to the door of the cafeteria, taking one last glance at the couple before walking out into the hallway, the door closing behind him. He walked to the rooftop and sat by himself on the edge of the roof.
Derek looked up in thought again. "I...I did?" He remembered a little bit of what happened... "Anything else happened?" He asked, trying to figure out what he was missing.
"Ummm...Oh yeah! And I told you how he had confessed his love for me last year. And I rejected him." She smirked in satisfaction.
Derek looked at her in shock. 'Poor guy...' He thought. 'But wait! Then afterwards I went to go see him and...It's pretty much blank...' "Hey, I’m a bit thirsty; think you can get me a soda? Here’s a dollar." He said, giving her a charming smile.
"Sure thing, sweet cheeks.” She mumbled, taking the money and heading toward the vending machines.
Derek waited till she was out of sight before leaving again, following wherever that stalker boy had gone. Somehow he felt like *he* was the key to bringing back his memories.
The ditz named Amber put the dollar in and waited for the soda to come out. Then she had to push the button first to make it come out.
Joshua sat on the edge of the rooftop, looking down. His eyes were sore and red, his nose was runny with boogers, and he felt like jumping off of the edge right now. How could his life have turned so crappy so quickly?
The sound of a door busting down could be heard as Derek busted the door to the roof. After looking around for the white haired male, he took a few steps forward. It was only then that he saw him, sitting on the edge. Wanting to talk to the younger boy, he walked over to him. "Hey."
Joshua glared at him and then looked back down to the door below. "What do you want?"
"I want to know why you’re crying like a baby." Derek replied as he stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked at the beautiful view.
Joshua laughed. "Trust me. You wouldn't understand..."
Derek leaned down so that he was eye level with the other boy. "Try me."
Joshua looked at Derek, still immensely attracted to him. Just talking to him was getting his member awake. He tried to think clean thoughts. "What would the point be? Then we'd be starting all over again..."
Derek stood up and put his hands behind his head, stretching slightly. "I don't know what happened but I can't remember anything that has to do with you and I don't know why." He explained.
Joshua looked over Derek's build. Why couldn't he just remember him? He had come to love him so much. Suddenly, wings started sprouting out of his back. "Great..."he mumbled.
Derek looked at the wings in shock. Something about them seemed...familiar. "White wings...feathers..." A few memories came back to him. "Joshua..." He nodded. "Joshua." He said with a small smile. "Alright, so I know you’re not a stalker..."
"What?" Joshua turned to him with a crazed expression. "How'd you remember my name?"
"Your wings...They reminded me of a small memory of you. So I figured out from that memory you weren't a stalker since I was talking to you." He explained as he stuck his hands in his pockets.
Joshua thought for a moment. "Come on...” he said as he stood, holding out a hand. “I have an idea...That may bring back your memory..."
Derek shrugged as he accepted the others hand, letting Joshua lead him wherever he wanted.
Joshua grasped Derek's hand firmly and then rushed to jump off of the roof.
Derek closed his eyes tightly as the feeling of falling off a roof was very new to him. He held onto the hand tighter, not wanting to let go and die.
Joshua kicked off the edge of the roof and quickly grabbed Derek's other hand, his wings beginning to flap soft slow strokes. He was headed toward the Coldstone.
Derek continued to close his eyes, afraid that if he looked down he might die. He had dreams of flying before... with pitch black wings, but those were only dreams… even if they felt so real.
Joshua rather quickly reached the ice cream parlor, his feet gently brushing the ground as he placed Derek back on the ground. As he landed himself down, he realized that he couldn't go inside with angelic wings. "Does this remind you of anything?!" He asked, gesturing toward the building.
Derek looked to the ice cream parlor. "Of course, I always come here to eat ice cream. The ice cream is the best…You want ice cream?" Derek asked somewhat surprised.
Joshua shook his head. "No. We had ice cream earlier, you and me..." He closed his eyes and took deep breaths for a moment, trying to get rid of his erection. Slowly, it went away. "Come on..." he grasped Derek's hand in his and led him to inside the ice cream parlor. He ran to the lady at the counter. "Hi! Yeah, it's us again, heh. We need two of the same ice-creams from before…yeah...same exact one…yep...with marshmallows..." He reached into his pocket and pulled out ten dollars, the only extra money he'd have for the rest of the month. He sighed as he gave it to the woman and took the ice creams, handing the cheesecake with marshmallow one to Derek. "Eat."
Derek looked at the ice cream. "But I'm not in the mood for ice cream."
Joshua narrowed his eyes and took the spoon from Derek's ice cream. He put it to his lips. "Eat it. Please?" he could feel his tears coming back. He just wanted Derek to remember. That's all he wanted.
Derek opened his mouth, his tongue going out so he could taste more of the Ice cream. "Hmm..." He murmured in thought.
Joshua sighed and put the spoon down, taking the spoon from his ice cream and putting it near Derek's mouth. "Now try this..."
As soon as Derek tasted it, he spit it out. "Why are you giving me that crap? You know I hate that ice cream taste!"
Joshua smiled, eating the rest of the ice cream on the spoon himself. "Come on. Let's go find a place to sit down and eat." He grasped Derek's hand gently, leading him outside to the bench in front of the beach.
Derek smiled as he sat down. "Ah yes, I usually come here to relax my mind. It helps." He murmured.
Joshua hit his head. Why couldn't he just remember?!? He was about to give up when he went and looked at Derek for a moment. He sighed and leaned toward him, grasping the scruff of his shirt and kissing him gently. He pulled back, looking for Derek's response. He had never been this strong before. Usually it was he who was told what to do and did it.
