Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Muse woke with a scream. Her bones began to crack and conform. Throwing the covers back, Muse stumbled towards the bathroom. She slung the door open and fell onto the marble floor. It was cool against her skin, stopping the sweat beading on her face. A scream escaped her tightly clenched lips as dark wings burst from her shoulder blades. Her body became leaner, lightly muscular and her skin turned a deep blue. The wings spread out, squelching sickly as they closed against her back. Her keen sense of smell picked up the scent of blood. Muse glanced down at the marble floor. Blood covered the lovely marble.
“Not now.” she moaned. “Please God not now.”
Exhaustion had finally gotten to her. All of the sexual acts she had done with Sin over the past week had worn down her ability to keep the glamour spell in place. The black widow tattoo on her neck pulsed. A new wave of pain stabbed her abdomen. Muse hit her knees, tears running down her face as the wings sank back into her body into oblivion. A knock on the door had her whirling around to face the looming black door. She groaned lowly, falling onto her side.
“Madam!” someone called from the door. “Is everything alright?”
Muse screamed and said angrily, “I’m fine.”
“Master Sin wants you in the weaponry.” said the woman. “He needs to see you now, my lady.”
Her body became normal once more but Muse didn’t dare move. She was in too much pain to even attempt crawling to the door. After a moment of lying on the cool marble, Muse rose to her knees. “Come in!” she called to the woman behind the door. Slowly the door opened up and a dark woman entered the bathroom. Her eyes widened at the sight of all the blood on the floor but she said nothing to Muse. Instead, she rushed to the girl’s side and helped her gently to her feet. Once she was on her feet, Muse politely refused the slave woman’s help.
“I’ll go find Master Sin now.” she said. “Thank you.”
“Are you sure that you’re able, Lady Muse?” the woman asked worriedly.
Muse nodded. “I’m fine.” she said. “Just keep this little episode our secret.”
The woman nodded. “I will ma’am.” she said.
Muse smiled winningly and made her way to the wardrobe. She pulled out a long black dress out. Sin liked that one. Dressing in fresh clothes, Muse felt somewhat better after her little experience. It had been so long since her glamour spells had failed her. The only reason she had regained her human appearance so quickly was because of the Sidhe tattoo. It wasn’t until tonight that she understood what the Sidhe warrior had wanted to protect her from.
“He was trying to protect me from myself.” she whispered to the full-length mirror hanging on the wardrobe door.
Sighing heavily, Muse left the safety of Sin’s bedchamber and entered the corridor. She made her way through the twisting hallways until she reached a pair of copper doors with a pair of crossed rapiers. Taking a deep breath, Muse entered the room where the Royal Family kept the treasured weapons of their bloodline. Sin stood in the center of the dome-like room, a bright smile on his face.
She’s a demon and Sidhe marked, he thought wickedly. This girl is exactly what we need to get those bastards off of our backs.
“You wanted to see me, Master?” Muse asked with a bow to the vampire prince.
He nodded. “I think that it is time I let you return to your life.” he said.
“What?” Muse asked in wonder.
Sin smiled. “I’m going to let you go.” he replied. “You had a life before Ocean had you captured and brought here. I’m going to let you go back to that life.”
Muse fell to her knees. “Are you really?” she asked.
The vampire prince knelt down before her, moving a lock of hair out of her eyes. “No one deserves to be a slave, my girl.” he said.
Muse smiled bitterly. “So you’ll let me go back to my own personal hell?” she asked.
Sin took her hand, helping her to her feet. He pulled her towards a small altar where a silk-wrapped object and a small chest sat. Kneeling once more, Sin started to unwrap the large object. Muse’s eyes widened. A sword the length of her arm with a bright sapphire in the center of the hilt lay before her. She glanced at Sin. When he nodded she reached for it. Slowly, Muse lifted it off of the altar. It was incredibly light. Muse glanced at the vampire prince and he smiled.
“Its yours.” he said. “This,” he said opening the tiny chest, “Is also yours to take with you when you return to your old life.”
A plain silver ring sat in the tiny chest. Muse gazed down at it, a faint hint of recognition gnawing at the back of her brain. Why didn’t she know exactly why she knew this certain ring? Sin took the ring from the chest and slid it onto the index finger of her right hand. Muse felt it grow warm when Sin’s cold fingertips left the silver. She continued to stare at it for a long moment but no memory of ever seeing this ring somewhere else came to her.
“Do you like them?” Sin asked.
Muse nodded. “Both of them are lovely.” she said.
Sin kissed her on the cheek. “Then wrap the sword and be on your way, my Muse.” he whispered on her ear. “I can’t keep you here anymore.”
The demon woman glanced at him. She turned her attention to the altar where the blue silk that had wrapped the sword lay. After wrapping the sword back up, Muse made her way to the doorway. She paused. Her eyes locked with Sin’s bright blue ones. He blew her a kiss and nodded. Muse turned on her heel and made her way out of the weaponry. A guardsman was waiting outside the dome-like room. She nodded to him and he led her out of the mansion.
Once she was gone, Sin turned away from the door and to a shadowy corner of the room. “It is done.” he said with a smile.
Ocean stepped into the light. “I see that, brother.” she said. “Do you think that they will go after her?”
Sin nodded, closing the distance between himself and his scantly clad sister. Wrapping his arms around her waist, Sin pulled her body firmly against his. She smiled up at him and ran her crimson claw-like nails down his cheek. It had not been an easy task to discover the girl’s true being. It had taken Sin almost the whole week to taste even a drop of her precious blood but he had gotten it. With her demon blood and her Sidhe mark, the girl named Muse was a sure-fire way of ending the attacks that the demons and Sidhe often set upon the vampires.
“We are free, brother.” Ocean whispered.
Sin nodded. “We are.” he agreed. “But our little Muse’s dark life is just beginning.”
Ocean frowned. “Are you worried about her?” the undead woman asked.
The vampire prince chuckled and kissed his sister passionately. “You know that you are the only woman for me, my dear Ocean.” he said.
With a dark smile, Ocean ran her fingers down his chest and stomach. She paused when she reached the top of his pants. Sin took her hand in his, pushing it down until she caressed him. A moan escaped his lips as she began to fondle him. Ocean drew herself up on tip toes and kissed the vampire prince. Sin moaned against her lips, tightening his hold on her. He pulled her down to the floor, pushing the crimson dress she wore up and out of his way. Ocean struggled with his britches, pulling them down violently.
Sin entered her without any preamble. “Oh damn woman.” he whispered as he sheathed himself within her.
“Yes.” she moaned as he began to move within her. “Take me Sin.”
Someone cleared their throat at the door and the siblings turned to face the guardsman that had led Muse out of the mansion. “What?” Sin asked angrily.
“Pardon me, my prince.” said the guardsman nervously. “I thought that you might like to know that the demon queen’s spy is moving.”
Sin smiled wickedly. “Excellent.” he breathed. “Now leave us, man!”
The guardsman bobbed a bow to them both and closed the door behind him. Ocean took Sin’s face between her hands. “We have done it Sin.” she whispered. “We have freed our family, our people from those ghastly creatures’ wrath.”
He nodded his agreement and thrust within her. “That we have.” he said. “Now let us celebrate that freedom.”
