CHAPTER 4

Chapter 4

“Is she awake yet?” a deep voice spoke.
“No. She’s been out for at least 5 hours.” the male voice that spoke was so familiar I couldn’t place it. I was laying on a soft, comfortable bed. Silk, I suppose. They continued their conversation while carefully felt around with my finger tips.
I opened my eyes just a little to see what was around me. It was quite dark, but I could map everything out. I was laying a huge, king bed with bed posts and red satin sheets. To my right, a wooden dresser with a mirror laid a few feet beside the bed and to my left was a floor Kwai bronze Torchiere lamp. A about 12 feet in front of the bed, two bronze Twigs Wallchiere lamps were placed on the wall and in the middle of the two sconces was a silver symbol of some sort. It was round with complex circles, circling throught each other. In the middle was hollow, but in the center of the symbol was some sort of shape. It’s either I can’t see it very well, or I can’t understand the shape. Whatever it was, it was unsettling.
To the far left of the room sat 4 cushion chairs, two on one side, two on the other with a rich dark, wooden coffee table in the center. The chairs were stationed vertical.
As the two were finishing their conversation, I heard footsteps . I’m guessing there was a staircase outside this room or either a hallway. The door opened and reveled a man in his early twenties. He looked vaguely familiar, since he wasn’t looking in my direction I open my eyes fully to get a better look at him.
\'Wow. What peculiar eyes…pitch black. Wait a second, I’ve seen those eyes before.\'
I almost swallowed my tongue when I recognized him. Eric. With the choking noise I made, the men look my way. Suddenly, everything flashed in my mind from earlier that night. The theater. Adam, Natalie, Ethan. The girl. The boy. Eric. A voice from the dark…blackness.
Suddenly I jumped from the bed and bum-rushed the men outside the bedroom. I ran down the hallway while considering this was a mansion. I ran with lightning speed, toward the entrance door ...wherever that was. Not even 30 feet from the door, Eric ran appeared directly in front of me just as I was about to turn the hall. He quickly pinned me down with his arms and knees. I fought against his strength as best as I could, but I suddenly remembered him grabbing me at the theater and that firm grip he had.
“Get off of me!” I screamed.
“Not until you calm.” he didn’t even sound like he was struggling.
“Get the hell away from me!” I repeated as I was violently squirming underneath him.
“Stop, let me explain everything.”
“No! You kidnapped me! You fucking psycho!”
The two men came running down the hall and help Eric pin me down.
“No.” he said. “Let me do it.”
Suddenly he look directly in my eyes after the two men stopped pinning me down. Something flashed in his eyes and I couldn’t tear my eyes away. I abruptly stopped squirming beneath him. I continued to stare into his eyes. He released his grip from my arm and sat on his haunches. Once he released his grip I felt that I was ready to pounce up and run. But no, I just laid there. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t do anything, but breath.
\'What the hell? What that bastard do to me?!\'
“I known you can hear me. I’ve paralyzed you mentally.” Eric said.
\'What the hell is he talking about?\'
“I’ve used my vampiric abilities to do it.”
\'Vampiric!? Now he’s just gone over board.\'
“Yes, vampiric abilities, Angel. Don’t shut your mind from the possibilities.”
\'What the hell? You can hear me? How?\'
“Yes I can hear you.”
\'But how?\'
“Vampires have the ability to read minds.”
\'There’s no such things as vampires.\'
“Don’t close your mind to possibilities.”
\'There are no such fucking thing as vampires! Don’t let me repeat myself.\'
“Then how am I reading your mind?”
\'………\'
“Now, I’m going to explain what the hell’s going on.”
\'Thank you Jesus!\'
“Ten years ago a man killed your mother.”
\'How dare you talk about her!
“I’m explaining to you what happened.”
\'NO! You can say whatever you want, but leave my mother out of this!\'
“Your mother is the main subject.”
\'No….please leave my mother out of this. Please.\'
Eric saw the tears build up in my eyes and fall on the tile floor.
“Angel, this is important.” His voice was filled with sympathy.
\'No Eric, she died ten years ago and I still haven’t gotten over it.\'
For the first time, I addressed him as Eric. He saw through the mask I been holding up all along fall down. He got up and leaned over to look in at me face. Tears were flowing down my cheeks.
\'I saw the gruesome death she had, Eric. I saw the way she screamed her last breath. Do you think I want to relive that moment?\'
He looked into my eyes and caressed my cheek. He released me from my state and I just rolled my head to the side and continued to cry. Eric gather me up in his arms and stood up. Carrying me bridal style, he walked toward the room from which I ran from. He put me down on the bed.
“Angel, one way or the other, I have to explain to you what happened.” Eric said as he sat on the side of me.
“There’ll be a guard outside your door. When your ready, just tell him to come and get me and then we can talk. Ok?” I lightly shook my head.
Eric got up and walked out of the room while closing the door behind him. I heard him say something to the guard about keeping me safe. After that I heard footsteps retreating down the hallway. I just laid still on the comfortable bed while thinking.
\'Oh mom. If only I was stronger and braver, I could of saved you. That never would of happened to you.\' I muffled my sob as best as I could.
\'You would of never died if I wasn’t a coward. You be here right know, with me, comforting me as I cry. I was all my fault.\' I clenched my fists at my side.
“You moron. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.” a voice said.
