chapter 5
Discalimer: This story is completely original, any similarities with real events or other work of fiction is merely coincidential.
It’s been a while since the girl left running for her life. Jackie took this opportunity to take in her surroundings. The room she was in consisted of four stonewalls, a bed, a bureau and a dresser on the wall beside the door. This swung open slowly and revealed the same little girl struggling to mobilize the gigantic wooden door on rusty hinges. “Hi.” Ness chirped, “sorry I left you here, you kind of scared me.” She smiled innocently and suddenly the door was pushed out of her grasp making her loose her balance and landing on the man who seemed to have snatched it from her. “Sorry.”
“You’re taking too long.” He said to her sternly.
She put an indignant face and huffed, “But I just got here!” He pushed her aside and strolled in heading for the disheveled lady lying on the mattress. “Hey! Watch it, I’m still here!” and whined “Rune!”
He barked orders to Jackie, “Get up!” ‘What am I, a dog’?
“Don’t yell at her!” Ness pushed against what she could reach of him, his thigh, with no avail. He simply put his hand against her forehead and shoved her away and successfully kept her at bay never releasing her. “Let go!”
“I said, get up.” He spoke a little softer. “NOW!” Never mind.
“I can hear you.” Jackie said as she stood fully, but only reaching up to his chin.
“So you’re stupid.” And so he turned away from her, with Ness still held at arms length.
“What?!”
“You heard me and still didn’t get up. You’re stupid.”
“You fuck--” He spun around too fast for her human eyes to catch on, and stood nose to nose with her.
“Watch it. There’s a child present.” And said child finally slapped his hand away.
“Like you don’t do it.” She reprimanded him.
“Shut up.” Again the sneaky hand began to push her out the door. “Get out.” With little strength she found herself in the Healing Wing’s corridor, Rune right behind her, daring her to turn around keeping the arm that served him to get rid of her clearly in sight.
Jackie stepped out with them, staring at their display. “Where am I?” Maybe he could answer the questions the child refused to respond.
Yet it was her who spoke. “You’re in the Academy.”
“Where?”
“It’s a school for people like us.” It was Rune who answered.
“And what kind of people are we?” ‘People like us’
“Kale will tell you.” Ness answered.
