new firends, new enemies
Catye had never had a glamorous or easy childhood. born east side of Dayton Ohio, the \"Ghetto\" of Dayton, things were poor. And tough. Her family was constantly in debt, and there was no way out. Her mother was a paralegal in a mediocre (sp?) job, and her father was a maintenance man somewhere. they lived in a double house, and fighting was everywhere. Catye was inside all day, with nothing to do. When they moved to Whimsdale, north of Dayton, Catye started kindergarten. Making friends, being happy, but things started to go wrong. Her parents were fighting more, as both of them jumped around different jobs. Everything was small arguments, and little words, normal, average family stuff.
In Catye\'s second grade year, things started to get rough. It was test time, tests that determine whether or not you move on to third grade. The previous night, her parents were fighting. She could hear them clear across their house. Sure, it was a pretty small house. But hell, the whole fucking neighborhood could probrobly hear the things being said. Catye sobbed into her pillow the entire night, and at school, her tilent tears streamed down her face. This was the first teacher involvement.
The teacher ended up calling Catye\'s parents to make sure things were okay at home. of course, mommy and daddy weren\'t up for admitting their issues. Catye was once again, underestimated and left alone.
In third grade, Catye\'s world turned upside-down. Her father\'s job had been transferred south of dayton to Emsfield. Catye and her family were forced to move to Emsfield, adn Catye was very unhappy. The house was gorgeous. The biggest hous Catye had ever lived in, it was a two-story house with a family room, living room, fireplace, spare bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, it was heaven. catye\'s room was double the size of her old rooms, and she was excited to be in a new place.
Her first day of school was torture. The learning curriculum was way beyond her ability, and she was far behind on her schoolwork. No one wanted to be her friend, and for a 9 year old, this is tragic. Until lunch recess, everyone was mean to her. everyone but one girl.
One girl stood out from the rest of them. She had the longest, waviest, prettiest hair of anyone, and her name was Anne. She was the only kid brave enough to introduce herself to the new kid, and show her around. Catye went everywhere with Anne. Anne had a group of friends at recess. Catye was immediately introduced. Anne went down the line of guys and introduced them one-by-one. But none of them mattered until the last one.
With his big blue eyes and fluffy blonde hair, James was the last person to be introduced. He was the only one to shake her hand. Catye, who had already understood love on a deeper level, knew love at first sight,. and if it was anything, this was it. Then, the moment crashed with these 6 words.
\"This is James. He\'s my boyfriend.\"
Anne\'s words buzzed around Catye\'s head like a thousand torpedos inside a bomb shelter. Her head was spinning, She didn\'t know what to say. SHe was left speechless. At this very moment, everything flipped. Her target was locked. Anne was the enemy.
