The New Generation: Part Five

A/N: I admit, seeing such little hits and reviews is kind of discouraging but at least one or two people like this story so I\'ll keep posting.

The New Generation: Part 5

The edict had been given as soon as the three boys had entered their hotel suite. Mackie would have one more night of life. The next day, Morgan was to track Mackie down and exterminate him. In the space of a few hours, Fredo had gone from to praising his Muscle to considering him to be vermin. In their Controller\'s eyes, Mackie became a traitor the moment he ran and as if he was demonstrating Mackie\'s unimportance, instead of going after Shadow himself, Fredo delegated the task to Morgan.

But that would be tomorrow. Morgan had managed to buy Mackie a little time by convincing Fredo that the element of surprise would be the only way to catch the younger boy. Someone who could move as fast as Mackie would only be taken by surprise and any attempt on his life would be expected tonight. Tomorrow, he\'d have the false confidence of thinking he\'d dodged the bullet.

That is, if Mackie hadn\'t left town already.

In the meantime, Fredo had taken off soon after he\'d given Morgan his orders. Mackie\'s betrayal had put Fredo in a horrible mood and the only thing that would make it any better other than Mackie\'s death, Mackie\'s painful and horrific death, would be the first pretty rag Fredo could find. Of course, without Mackie to kill them, Fredo would have to off any pussy he fucked. But that would make Mackie\'s end all the more sweet.

He knew what would happen by leaving the two brothers alone but though he\'d never say it outright, that was part of why he was leaving them alone. Fredo knew any discontent the gentle Morgan would have at killing his friend would be eased by the comfort only Brodie could give him. Not that Fredo approved of it. Not by any means. But Fredo was a good enough leader to recognize that he had to choose his battles and although he had his doubts about pretty Brodie, he was almost positive that Morgan had turned to his baby brother and Mackie out of sheer desperation. Morgan would have better and more fitting choices as soon as Fredo found more Omega girls. Brodie wouldn\'t care for them but he\'d do whatever Fredo told him to. As would the Omega boy Brodie had been fucking around with before Fredo walked in on them.

The true reason he was out on the streets of the Old Quarter even though the night was still young. He\'d heard the one boy mention something about seeing Brodie later in his room. Fredo would not let such an opportunity go but he\'d be damned if he\'d be around to see it happen.

\"I can\'t believe you\'re gonna do it, Morgan,\" Brodie said to his older brother the moment Fredo was out of hearing range. Of course, if Fredo was doing any telepathic eavesdropping, hearing range wouldn\'t mean a thing but Morgan knew that Fredo wouldn\'t even bother. Why should he? He knew that Morgan would obey him and any dissent voiced by either him or Brodie was just words.

\"What the fuck else am I supposed to do?\" Morgan demanded as he flopped down on the bed on his back.
\"What\'re you gonna do when you see him?\" Brodie demanded. \"Stop his heart? Give him a stroke?\"

\"Whatever it takes.\"

Brodie lay down and scooted next to Morgan. \"He\'s our friend, Morgan.\"

\"He was,\" Morgan corrected. Then his eyes narrowed. \"Since when are you so friendly with Mackie anyway, squirt? You\'re always bitching about me spending too much time with him.\"

\"You did,\" Brodie told him, \"but that doesn\'t mean I want him dead.\"

\"You think I do?\" Morgan snapped, then calmed down, it wasn\'t Brodie\'s fault. None of this was Brodie\'s fault. \"It\'ll be better this way, Brodie. Kinder.\"

\"What is he, some dog you can put out of its misery?\"

\"I have no idea what the fuck he is!\" Morgan hissed. \"And neither do you.\"

\"I know he\'s our Omega brother,\" Brodie retorted. \"That didn\'t stop just because Fredo put a hit on him.\"

Morgan sighed, envying Brodie\'s childlike simplistic loyalty. \"He ran, Brodie. He could have stuck around but he left and now I have to clean his mess up,\" Morgan said with more than a little resentment.

Brodie stared at him. \"You want to kill him, don\'t you?\" he whispered.

\"I loved him, Brodie.\"

\"You still do.\"

Morgan shrugged. \"Maybe. But that doesn\'t change what he did.\"

Brodie lay his head on Morgan\'s chest. \"What did he do? You never really explained that, Morgan.\"

Morgan shuddered with the memory, recalling the uncharacteristic forwardness and sexual enthusiasm Mackie had shown, then the realization that it hadn\'t been Morgan\'s body that Mackie wanted, just something that was in it.

Brodie flipped over on to his belly, burying his face in Morgan\'s chest. \"It was that bad? Why? What did he do?\" Brodie repeated.

Morgan didn\'t know if it was because they were so close or because their relationship had been more than brotherly for so long but he could not lie to Brodie. \"You\'re not gonna believe me.\" He laughed but it wasn\'t pleasant. \"Fuck, I don\'t even believe it myself.\"

\"Believe what?!\" Brodie lifted his face from Morgan\'s chest and snuggled against him. \"Can\'t be all that bad, can it? It\'s Mackie.\"

\"He tried to take my blood while we were fucking so you tell me, Brodie,\" Morgan snapped.

To Morgan\'s surprise and anger, Brodie laughed and his laughter was full of amusement. \"No wonder you didn\'t really tell Fredo.\"

\"Is that all you can say? You don\'t care about what Mackie attempted to do?\"

\"Attempted,\" Brodie pointed out. \"But he didn\'t do it. Did he?\"

Morgan\'s answer was just an unintelligible grumble. Brodie didn\'t understand and didn\'t\' want to understand.

\"Morrr-gannn,\" Brodie crooned, his fingers idly stroking his older brother\'s cheek, \"You didn\'t stop him, he stopped himself, right?\"

\"Doesn\'t matter,\" Morgan muttered, trying to ignore that his baby brother\'s skilled fingers wandering downwards from his face were now caressing his neck.

\"Sure it does,\" Brodie said softly, his lips replacing his fingers. \"It means Mackie cared enough about you to stop himself from hurting you. You\'re gonna repay him for that kindness by killing him?\"

\"And are you going to try to use sex to talk me out of it?\" Morgan shot back but he leaned into Brodie\'s hand that had found its way down Morgan\'s pajama bottoms and was now stroking Morgan into hardness.

\"Would I do that?\" Brodie said innocently, hooking his fingers into the waistband of Morgan\'s pajama bottoms and pulling them down Morgan\'s legs until Morgan just lost patience and took them off.

Brodie calmly took his off as well and crawled on top of his brother, laying skin to skin. \"I would,\" he answered his own question, \"but this time I\'m using sex to make you feel better about what I know you have to do.\" His tongue licked at Morgan\'s lips until Morgan opened his mouth with a moan.

Morgan kissed his brother with as much desperation as passion, as if he could climb down Brodie\'s throat and hide from all the anger, bitterness and sadness that would await him tomorrow. Brodie\'s hands on Morgan\'s fevered skin swept away the pain, his lips kissed away the resentment and his tongue licked away the grief. And by the time Morgan plunged inside the velvet heat of Brodie, all thoughts of Mackie and what awaited the two of them were fucked out the window.

\"So how\'d you find me anyway?\" Mackie asked Dimitri as they tossed the \"empty\" into the dumpster. Like some beer bottle that had no beer left in it, an empty was a body with no blood left in it, though technically Mackie hadn\'t taken it all. He hadn\'t even taken half. Still, he liked the term \"empty\" more than the word \"corpse.\"
Dimitri snorted. (Are you serious?)

\"No, I asked you because I had nothing better to do,\" Mackie snapped in English, pissed that Dimitri hadn\'t stopped speaking in Greek since he threw the empty over his shoulder and they began the walk to the dumpster.

(I felt you. The only reason you didn\'t feel me was that you were,) Dimitri laughed, (occupied.)

Mackie didn\'t have a snappy retort to that because his own experience had already proven Dimitri was telling the truth. \"Fine,\" he muttered, again in English, always in English. \"So you just happened to be close enough to feel me?\"

Dimitri rolled his eyes. (No, you happened to be where we were hunting, malaka.)

\"We?\" Then Mackie remembered. \"Where is your cousin anyway?\"

(He had things to take care of,) Dimitri said evasively, clearly not wanting to stay on the subject. He paused for a moment then asked Mackie, (What\'s your family name?)

Nausea instantly hit Mackie like a slap in the face. \"Don\'t wanna talk about that.\"

(Why?\" Dimitri sneered. (You think that makes you more human if you Anglicize your name and only speak English?)

\"I AM human!\" Mackie spat.

(Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.) Dimitri replied with a smirk. (Well I\'ll tell you what your family name is. You look just like him.)

A shiver crawled up Mackie\'s spine. \"I know I look like Angelo,\" he said, hoping that was what Dimitri meant.

(Yiorgo,) Dimitri said as if he didn\'t hear what Mackie had said. (Yiorgo Argyris. Which would make you Makis Argyris, yes?)

Mackie stared at him. \"You knew my grandfather?\" His eyes narrowed. \"How fucking old are you, Dimitri?\"

(Old enough,) Dimitri said dismissively. (But yes, I knew Yiorgo. Your grandfather, my great uncle.) Dimitri snickered. (Crazy Uncle Yiorgo.)

Mackie\'s hands curled into fists. \"\"Shut the fuck up Dimitri!\"

Dimitri had hit a nerve and he knew it. (You know why Uncle got crazy? You know why he ended up staked?)

\"The fevered blood,\" Mackie murmured as if he was in a trance. Then something occurred to him. \"It makes everyone who has it insane. But not you. Not Angelo.\" Mackie met Dimitri\'s frosty blue gaze. \"Why, because you\'re both vrykolakas?\" he challenged, using the word he\'d heard over and over as a kid.

\"Not quite,\" Dimitri hissed, exposing the teeth, the fangs that Mackie had only seen a hint of before now. \"But you\'re right about why it stopped our minds from snapping. And it will stop yours, Mackie.\"

\"Oh yeah? How?\"

The fangs retracted. (When I take your blood and replace it with the mixture of yours and mine, you\'ll get the proteins so you can actually break down what you drink. It goes straight to your veins, not your belly so you can actually eat when you get hungry.)Dimitri smiled. (It was the starvation that made Uncle and the others go psycho, you know. No starvation, you stay sane.)

Mackie shook his head violently. \"Thanks but no thanks, Dimitri.\"

Dimitri abruptly seized Mackie, his arm wrapped around Mackie\'s waist and his other hand yanking Mackie\'s head back and exposing his throat. (I don’t think you\'re getting it, baby. I wasn\'t offering you a choice. By the end of tonight, you\'ll either be one of us or you\'ll be dead.)

You want more? Let me know.
