only the beginning

Ok, so I decided the last chapter wasn't a good enough end. So I made a better end to the story, altho it's not very long. Hope you like.

Now that I had everything I could ever want in my life, there was only one more thing I needed to do. I went to work the next day and called my mom on my break. I asked her for the number of Uncle Aidan’s editor in the hopes that I could get him to agree to this book in his memory.

So, I made a phone call to Leaflet Press, hoping that Bill Armeson still worked there. They said that Bill had retired but after revealing the reason for my phone call they gladly gave me his home number.

The phone rang for what seemed like forever but finally the receiver was picked up on the other end. A man with a deep, rough voice answered. “Hello.”

“Mr. Armeson?” I asked.

“Yea, this is him. What do you want, kid?”

“My name’s Sheamus Brodie. You were my Uncle Aidan’s editor for a few years.” I explained.

“Oh yea, whatever happened to him? It’s like he just disappeared off the face of the earth.”

“He was killed, sir. About 15 years ago.” I lamented.

He fell silent for a while and I thought for a second the line had disconnected. “I’m so sorry. Your uncle was a good kid. But I’m sure that’s not the reason that you called me.”

“No, it’s not. I called because my uncle kept a journal and he really wanted to publish, whether people believed his story or not. He led a very interesting life and I’m sure it could bring a lot of readers.”

“It probably would. Aidan had a pretty loyal fanbase. I’m sure they’d all like to know what happened to him.” He paused for a moment. “I’m gonna call around to some publisher friends of mine. We’ll see about getting this thing printed. But between me and you kid, this thing is as good as published.”

“Sir…”

“Call me Bill.”

I smiled, realizing this guy was most likely a tough person and didn’t let people in very often but he was treating me so nicely. “I would like to put something in the book from me, like a foreword or some after thoughts.”

“Ya know what kid. I would say you should do both. Cuz you’re gonn wanna explain why this is so important to you and Aidan and then explain how he died… that is if you know. But we don’t want to give away everything at first. Wow, I’m really likin the sounds of this. You’re good kid. You got a lot of your uncle in ya, I can tell.”

“Thanks Bill. That means a lot.”

“Ok, you get writing and call me when your done. Email it to me and I'll edit it for ya personally.”

“That sounds great, Bill. I’ll get right on that.”

“Alright, kid. Talk to ya later.”

When I hung up with Bill, I just sat almost in a trance. My head was swimming. It didn’t really hit me that I was going to fulfill my uncle’s one wish. It was the easiest thing I ever had to do but the one thing I will be pouring my heart and soul into the most.

I had to leave work. I had to go tell Josef and then get to my writing. I ran out to my manager Ted and asked to leave early because of a family emergency. He granted me leave and I grabbed my stuff and ran out.

I ran down to the café to go see Yos. And when I say ran, I mean ran. I hoofed about 6 blocks to the café.

When I got there Yos was out on the patio waiting on a table. I stopped by the railing and caught my breath as I waited for Yos to get done. When he took notice of me, he looked concerned at seeing me so out of breath. He walked over to me and put his hand on my shoulder.

“Are you ok, honey?” He asked, worried.

“I’m more than ok, baby. I’m fucking ecstatic. I talked to Aidan’s old editor and he said that the book was as good as made. And I get to write for it. I’m so fucking happy.” I practically yelled.

“Oh my god.” He grabbed me and hugged me. “Are you serious? This is great, hun. Your uncle would be so proud of you.”

I pulled away from him. “He is , baby. I can feel it. I’m gonna go over to my place and start writing.”

“I’ll come over when I’m done with my shift and make you some dinner. Love you.”

I grabbed his chin and kissed him. Lingering a little longer than I probably should’ve considering he was working. “I love you, too. Forever and ever and ever.”

He flashed me that dazzling smile before I took off running to my apartment to start writing. Now everyone will know your story Uncle Aidan just like you wanted.

Ok, that concludes Where the Night meets the Day. But I have some good news. The Where the Night Meets the Day/Addicted to the Night saga continues. I will put up a prequel to both of these stories. It will be called Uncertain Beginings, and it will follow the story of Aidan's great grandfather (Sheamus' great great grandfather) and Mika before he was a vampire. It explains their love and how this great love that has spanned centuries and generations had started. I hope you enjoy it!
