Through Hell and Back V

The young girl hungrily ate the small round fruit that the creature had dropped on the floor. She had picked it up and backed away to her little corner where she bit into it. Juice from the fruit dribbled down her mouth and licked at her fingers. She then continued to eat the fruit as the creature watched.

The girl could still remember the time when her mom would tell her to eat her veggies and her fruit. She could remember how she would make a fuss, and when she was really not getting her way, she would upstairs to her room or to her Grandma. The girl dropped the half-eaten fruit and curled up into a small ball and began to cry. Her Grandma was gone, her mom was gone, everyone she knew was gone. The creature continued to watch as the young girl cried herself to sleep.

Later in the day the creature left his room. He and his fellow flight-creatures were going to fly over the human city and see if they could see a meal or not. Rumblings had been going around the place about the human he kept in his room. If he showed the others he was getting soft, one of his followers would rise up and kill him. That was their code! He snorted and shook his large furry head to clear his mind of these thoughts and spread his wings.

He then took off and soon was sailing up the corridor and was being joined by his followers. Soon they were in the air over the city and heading east. That is where the major river cut through the city and humans usually came out for water just before dark.

Soon he and his followers were circling over the river. It bubbled along lazily as if nothing was going to disturb it all not. He let out several noises to communicate with his followers and they responded in turn.

As he was going around for another turn something caught his eye. There was loud whoosh of air as a projectile flew by him and hit a smaller creature to his left, right in the stomach. It let out a sickening cry and sailed head first for the water below which he met with a sickening crunch.

He let out a roar and his followers followed him down in a swooping attack on whatever attacked them. The creature flapped his wings sending water sailing as he noticed several humans. One turned and looked at him in horror onto his claws got him in the chest and knocked him over. The human gurgled until with a roar of rage his jaws closed around the human\'s head and closed.

The creature could see of his followers battling with several humans. The humans were trying to keep his followers back with spears, but he knew sooner or later his followers would win. Just then he let out a bellow of pain when a projectile tore through his left wing. He growled as he looked at his wound. He could dark black blood begin to ooze. His eyes flashed as he quickly turned onto his attacker and ripped him apart with his sharp claws.

The creature then took to the air and headed back to his home as best he could. He was soon followed by his wing-mates mnus two of them. His eyes continued to flash!

The human back at their base was in trouble. He was planning to take all his rage out on her. It was her fault that he didn\'t see it coming!

To be continued. . .
