Confontation
On his next turn around he saw the woman that Ana was talking to. Even with jet black hair and makeup, Jordan could tell it was his wife. Not wanting to make a scene, he tapped Marcus on the shoulder who was dancing with another young lady. "Marcus, can you watch her for a second?" The look in Jordan's eyes made Marcus not ask any questions and he accepted the child.
"Daddy, what's up? The music isn't done yet." She said, a touch of confusion crossing her face.
"Mr. Marcus will take care of you for a second. I just need to go talk to Ana, we will continue this later." She nodded and Jordan turned towards the direction of his wife and began walking. As he crossed the distance, he felt his anger build, barely contained as he approached the women.
Ana grabbed his and and pulled him gently towards her, she pressed her body close to his and whispered, "Don’t do anything that will take Angie away from you," she warned, "Got that?"
Without taking his eyes off of Katherine he squeezed her arm and eased her away from him. "I won't."
He walked up to Katherine, but it took her a few seconds to recognize him. "Jordan?" she asked with a mix of fear and confusion.
He looked over his wife, she was dressed like a prostitute and she smelled of alcohol. There was a whole list of questions he had for her, but the immediate one was the biggest concern now. "Where the hell have you been? Leaving Angie all alone."
"That is none of your business," she snapped and walked to a table and sat down, "Why are you here?"
He took another step towards her. He stood almost eight inches taller than her and she stumbled back against one of the tables. He felt his anger seethe and he barely kept it in check. "How DARE you question my motives. I didn't kidnap my daughter and take her out of the country. I didn't leave her for days while I was out doing God know what. I didn't give our marriage up for a good roll in the hay!'
Katherine felt like she was slapped in the face. She looked around to see Ana leading Angie out of the party into the motel, "Hypocrite!" she snapped, "You're telling me that you're not screwing the Mexican bitch?"
A half smile grew out of the corner of his lip. "No. I've only been here about ten hours. Not that something silly like time stopped you from banging Gerald. Besides, As far as I'm concerned, our marriage ended a long time ago. The papers are just waiting for your signature." The divorce papers had been written up just before she left with Angie, whmay may have been one of the contributing factors to her leaving.
Katherine got up and straightened her clothes the best she could, "I'm leaving and I'm taking MY daughter with me."
As Katherine turned to walk by him, Jordan brought his leg up onto the seat of the picnic table, blocking her path. "Oh, no you're not. If you want to go, then go. But she is staying with me. I have custody papers for her, full custody. If you want, I can call the Policia and they will agree with me." For once, but not the only time, he felt like just smacking her across the face, but he held back.
“What do you mean full custody?” she asked, “They couldn’t have given you…” She trailed off and walked away from him. She wanted to hurt in and the only way she could was to take Angie from him. She didn’t even want the little runt in the first place.
Jordan saw the look in her face and knew that he hurt her. Part of him was happy, but a larger part of him was sorry that he did it. He called to her, but before he could get her name out an arm slid into his from behind.
"Are you sure about this?" Ana asked him.
He looked at Ana and then back at Katherine. He didn't quite know what to think right now. Looking back one more time at Ana he said. "What do you mean?"
Ana let him go, “Nothing,” she said walkwalked away, “Nothing at all.”
Jordan looked one last time at Katherine. ~Fuck 'er~ he thought and turned back towards the party. Angie was looking in his direction and he put on a smile for her and then walked over to Ana. He stood behind her a few steps, but raised his voice so she could hear him. "Thanks for stopping me, I probably would have done the foolish thing and gone after her."
Ana didn’t turn to face him. For the first time she could see him leaving and never coming back and it scared her, “Who said it was foolish?” she asked, “What if not going after her is the foolish thing to do?”
"I think this is better. I've been waiting to tell her off for a half year. Then, the first time I see her, I felt sorry for her. I guess it is hard to leave someone you once loved." He walked around to look at her from the side. “Believe me, going after her would have been the foolish thing to do. I need to be here with Angie." His mind finished the thought for him when his mouth wouldn't, ~and with you~.
Ana walked around him without meeting his eyes and headed for the door, “Ok then,” she said. She walked out into the yard and one of the guys stuck a plate of food in her hands, “gracias,” she said and sat down under a nearby tree to eat.
He walked over and finished a dance with his daughter and then she ran off to be with some kids. He watched her, to make sure Katherine didn't come back. After a few minutes it looked safe so he walked over to the tree where Ana was sitting. A slow song had started playing and he looked down at her. "Care for a dance?"
Warning bells went off in her head ~shut up brain or I’ll stab you with a pin~ she threatened idly. She looked up at him and smiled almost helplessly, “Sure,” she said and took his hand and allowed him to lead her.
He walked her to the dance floor and began a simple dance. It wasn't the one everyone else was doing, but it was the only one he knew.
Analiza rested her head against his chest and closed her eyes. She felt at peace and it scared her. She allowed her body to move against his. A shot of spark shot up from the tips of her toes and her body tightened.
As they danced Jordan began to loosen up; he had his daughter, his soon to be ex-wife was going to be gone and he could finally see the light at the end of this dark tunnel. He also was dancing with an enchanting and beautiful woman. As he mused about it in his head, he felt his dance partner tense up. It brought him back to reality with a start, "Ana, is something wrong?"
“Only everything,” she said not looking up or lifting her head, “everything is going wrong.”
He wrapped his arms around her waist. "What’s going wrong?"
“You were supposed to find your daughter Jordan,” she said quietly, “Now I feel as though…” she stopped, “I can’t let this happen again. I just can’t. You will be gone soon.”
