LAST TIME:

“Why
did yet uet up so early?” Magnet asked while he dressed.

The twins tilted their heads and smiled, “This isn’t
early for us Magnet.” Loki answered.

“Well let’s go then.” Caveman said as he got up and
walked out. The others followed.

CHAPTER 5:

Loki and Devlen were walking towards the ‘library’ to get
their shovel when they saw X-Ray take another boy’s shovel and throw the one he
had on the ground.

“Is he always such a git?” Loki asked as he grabbed his brother’s left hand.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> They got in line.

The others looked confused. “Is ‘git’ a bad thing?” Zigzag asked.

The twins laughed. “Yeah, you use it for someone that you
really don’t like too much. It’s kinda
like idiot.” Devlen answered.

Zigzag looked over at X-Ray and shrugged with a grin, “Pretty
much yeah.” He, Squid, Magnet, and
Caveman were in line behind the twins; Zero had already gotten his shovel and
was getting some breakfast.

[Why do you think these guys let X-Ray push them around?]
Devlen asked his brother.

[I’m not sure. We’ll
probably find out while we’re here though.] Loki grabbed a shovel along with
the rest of the boys from their tent and then followed them out to where they
had to dig that day. The twins didn’t
eat breakfast.

“You’ll dig here.”
Mr. Sir pointed to a couple of spots on the ground for the twins to
dig. “The water truck will be here
around noon.” He watched the two boys
put down their shovels and start stretching.
“What do you think you are doing?”

They stopped and looked at him and then at each other
with a grin. “Does this bother you Mr.
Sir?” Devlen asked innocently while the
rest of D-Tent watched on.

“Yes, yes it does.
So stop and get to work!” He
watched for them to pick up their shovels and make the first dig.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> He was disappointed when the shovel actually
broke ground. He grumbled, got in his
truck and drove off.

As soon as he was gone the twins started stretching again.style="mso-spacerun: yes"/spa/span>The rest of D-Tent laughed.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> All except X-Ray, who just sneered and
started digging.

The twins were halfway done when they stopped digging; they
figured that they should finish when the others did and not before because it would
draw attention to them on their on their first day. Of course so would not having blisters, but they’ll cross that
bridge when they get to it. Well more
attention than they already had that is.
They hopped up on the edge of their hole to ‘rest’, even though they
weren’t tired.

“Why’d you guys stop?”
Zigzag asked.

“Takin a break.”
Loki smiled at him. “Aren’t you
tired?”

“A little. But
after all these months…I’m kinda use to it.”
Zigzag smiled back and jumped out of his hole and sat next to Loki.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> [He’s sitting next to me!]style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Loki’s voice sounded giddy in his brother’s
head.

Devlen
laughed so hard that he fell back in his hole. “Whoa!”style="mso-spacerun: yes"> He giggled as he sat back on the edge and
smiled at his brother.

“What’s
so funny?” Zigzag asked him.

“Ah,
nothing. Just something silly in my head.”
He grinned at his brother who stuck his tongue at him.

“So
where are you two from?” Zigzag asked.

“Well,
we were born here in the states but we’ve been in England with dad and Rick for
about a year and then we got in trouble and since we were about to come back
here to live, we got punished here.” He shrugged, “did that make sense?”style="mso-spacerun: yes">

Zigzag
grinned and nodded. “Who’s Rick
though? Is he another brother or
something?”

“Ah,
no. He was dad’s lover.”style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Zigzag caught the ‘was’ but decided not to
bring it up.

“England
huh? You don’t have much of an accent
for being there a year.” That was from
Squid as he sat next to Devlen.

“We
did when we were there to blend in.” Devlen
answered.an>

“Really?
Can you say something?” Squid asked.

Devlen
opened his mouth to do just that when a shadow fell in between the twin’s holes.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> The four of them looked up; it was
X-Ray. The brothers rolled their eyes.

When
he got their attention, he squatted down to speak. “Since the two of you are just starting out…if you find anything
you give it to me. Understand?”style="mso-spacerun: yes"> He waited for their answer but all he got
were raised brows.

“Let
me see…if I got this right…if…Loki or myself find anything while we dig…we have
to give it…to you?” Devlen asked
flatly.

“I’m
glad that we understand each other.” He
went to pat Devlen’s right shoulder, but his hand was grabbed in a vice grip.

“If
you touch me or my brother, I will break every bone in your hand and more if I see
fit.” Devlen said in a soft voice.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> He let go and X-Ray cradled his hand close
to his chest. “Your answer is ‘no’.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> If we find anything the only way we’d give
it to you is if you pulled it out your ass after we shoved it there.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Now sod off and go dig.” The twins stood
when X-Ray didn’t leave.

style="mso-spacerun: yes"> “Was there something else you wanted to bully
us about?” Loki asked.

“You
know what you little fag I think you need a lesson from your better!”style="mso-spacerun: yes"> He took a step forward only to be blocked by
Squid and Zigzag.

“Leave
it X.” Squid said.

“What
are you gonna do? You’re just as
faggoty as them! The both of you.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Don’t think I haven’t seen the two of you
staring at them since they got here!”
He yelled at them but took a slight step back anyway.

“So
what if we have?! We’re all tired of
your bullshit!” Zigzag stepped forward.

“Hey!
What’s going on here?!”

The
boys all backed away from each other.

“Nothing
Mr. Sir.” Squid said.

“That’s
right, just having a small debate.” X-Ray agreed.

“Well
get over here and get your water and then get back to work!”style="mso-spacerun: yes"> X-Ray walked towards the truck. style="mso-spacerun: yes">

Devlen
grabbed Squid as he started following Zigzag and Loki to the truck.

“Thanks
for sticking up for me Squid.” Devlen said softly.

Squid
looked at him and shrugged, “I didn’t like him yelling at you is all.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Besides, I have a feeling that you and Loki can
take care of yourselves.”

“You
don’t know the half of it.” He smiled, “but
thanks.” Devlen kissed Squid’s forehead
and walked to stand behind his brother and Zigzag who were both grinning ear to
ear at him. “What?”

“Nothing
Dev.” Loki answered with a smile. He
looked over at Squid and then back at his brother. [He looks dazed.]

Devlen
looked back at Squid and smiled. [Yeah, I guess so. Not where I wanted to kiss him, but I don’t want to scare
him off.] Loki chuckled.

“Squid!
You gonna stand there all day or what?”
Zigzag yelled.

“Oh.
Ah no, I-I’m coming.” The twins and
Zigzag laughed as he made his way over to them.

Before
Squid could speak Caveman said something to them, “Why are you two back there?”style="mso-spacerun: yes"> The four of them were behind Zero who was
last in line.

“We’re
good her Caveman. Don’t worry about it.”
Zigzag answered him. Caveman shrugged and turned back around.

“Devlen…what
was that for?” Squid asked him as he fiddled with his canteen.

“You
don’t know?” He asked slyly as he took a step closer to him.

“Ah…n-no.”
He stepped back a little as Devlen got closer.

“Hmm…maybe
it’s because it wasn’t done properly.”
[Devlen! Don’t you dare!] He could hear his brother’s laughter in his
head.

“What?”style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Squid couldn’t go any further because there
was a hole behind him. Devlen stepped closer
so they were nose to nose.
