I spend my life

in sun and rain

bright warm days

and dark wet evenings

all is well

and might as well be

mornings come soon

and evenings pass slowly

very slowly

with thoughts that drift

and soulful yearnings

sometimes with pain

sometimes with burning

and still they come

they brighten

then drain

they probe deep

and leave with dreams

strangers I meet

strangers being myself

I should hold them dear

but they dance away

into shadows

and prick

at my heart

which has known joy

and sadness

depression

and expectation

the sun bathes me

the rain guides

my soul and brain

to somewhere else

there to await

the night and

dreams

dreams that are long

but end in light

and the glory

of the sun
