When Akira came to he was looking up at the ceiling. He remembered this ceiling, giving an aggravated growl he looked at his arm. Following the IV up to the water packet hanging on the wall, a sigh escaped him. Something twitched next to him and he looked over to see Zev. His head was pillowed on his arms and he was sleeping soundly. Lightly caressing his head he smiled, that smile soon took on an evil look as he saw the two wolf ears that were folded back on his head. Grabbing one he twisted it and Zev let out a yelp in pain. He smirked, Zev’s yelps always sounded like a dog.
“Let go that hurts.”
Akira let go of it and the two looked at each other. “What am I doing in here?”
“You don’t remember.”
“Once again what the hell am I doing in here?”
“You passed out in the car last night before you got home. Your body has been under a lot of stress so it just shut itself down.”
“Why am I in here for?”
“Mom wanted to make sure your okay.”
Great now he’ll never here the end of it. The door opened and they looked over to find Karl standing there. “Zev tell your father I left that stuff on his desk.”
“Okay.”
When he turned back he found Akira trying to pull the IV out. He grabbed Akira’s arm and growled as the brunette tried to pull away. “Damn it Zev I’m tired of this I don’t want this thing in me!”
Zev grabbed both of his arms and raised them up. “It’s going to stay in till its empty!”
“I don’t need it!” The door opened once again and Karen walked in. “Get it out of my arm!”
“My, aren’t we lively.”
Akira glared at her and shouted, “I thought you wouldn’t be here till the end of the week!”
She smirked and walked over to Zev, “Let him go he doesn’t need it. I found out that the cigs are not the problem.”
“Then what is the problem.”
“Your body is under a lot of stress now, before it wasn’t.” She handed the clipboard to Zev and he looked down. Karen pointed at something and he sighed.
“So I can smoke?”
“After this week is up.”
“Damn it!”
“It could be something other than that causing your body to stress out. You are covered in injures and now your body has to heal your hand with the hole in it. By the way you will have a scar from that.”
“Don’t care I want my smokes!”
“You need to quit anyways.”
“Why!?”
“Why do you need them so much?” Zev asked him.
He grew quiet and then ripped the IV out. “You don’t need to know.”
“Damn it Akira.”
Karen spoke up, “If we knew we could figure this out.”
He clenched his jaw and muttered out, “You don’t need to know.”
“I want to know why.”
He looked at Zev and he shook his head. “Just leave me alone.”
“Akira…”
The doctor placed her hand on Zev’s shoulder. “I’m going to go talk to your mom.”
“Okay.” She took the clipboard from Zev and walked out of the room. She closed it behind her.
“Those two…”
Dawn gave a soft laugh. “Yes but they love each other so much.”
Akira looked at his hands. He could feel Zev’s eyes on him as he ignored the question. “Akira, why can’t I know? Is this the reason why the mirror broke?”
His fingers clenched and he gritted his teeth.
“Akira…” Zev’s fingers reached out and brushed over his arm. He pulled away and the wolf whimpered. “Please I’m worried. Last night you looked so pale and you were cold to the touch.”
He looked at Zev and saw the look on his face. “I’m not going to tell you.”
“Damn it Akira! Why!?”
His eyes narrowed and he growled, “Why do you want to know?”
The wolf reached out and touched his face. “Because I love you and I want you to know I’ll listen no matter what.” He knew the brunette was getting angry.
Akira yanked his hands away and shouted, “I’m not going to tell you! So stop asking!”
“I’m not going to stop.” Sky blue eyes took on a hard edge and they wouldn’t leave him alone. He lowered his head and shook it. He didn’t want to lose Zev, “Akira… please! Tell me.”
“I can’t…”
“Why not?”
“Because I’m not…” he bit his tongue and shook his head again. His hand rubbed at the mark on his left shoulder. “Normal.”
“Normal… did you forget I’m not normal either.”
“You’re more normal then me.” His eyes were different. “I… I’m…”
His hand reached out and brushed though Akira’s hair. “You’re Akira no matter what. Let me know what’s bugging you. Please.”
“No.”
He hung his head, “Damn it Akira.”
“What do you want me to say…” Zev looked at him. His eyes were focused on him and his storm gray eyes were darker than normal. His voice was rising with every word. “I’m crazy. I’m seeing things that would get me toss back into that hell hole! Or about the fact I can hear things and I can’t tell my own mine from everyone else’s! I look like a human sized fight dummy and I have a fucking hole in my hand. I can’t take a piss without hearing voices and I keep seeing things in your damn mirror! So leave me the fuck alone!” He clamped a hand over his mouth and grew quiet. Akira looked away and picked at the blanket. He must be really stressed if his anger just lashed out like that.
Standing up Zev muttered something. He shouted when Zev lifted him up into his arms. “We’ll fix it then.”
“Put me down!”
“No.” He walked past the two women and up the stairs.
“Zev where are you going?”
“To fix a problem.” Akira was struggling to get out of his arms only he found himself flipped over Zev’s shoulder.
“Put me down damn it!”
Rune and Keir watched as Zev walked by with the brunette. “What’s going on?”
Looking up at Keir he quickly said, “Didn’t you here the argument?”
“No.”
“Akira is seeing things in the mirror again.”
“Again?”
He shook his head. “I can’t say.”
Akira bounced as he was dropped on the bed, “Don’t move.” He walked into the bathroom as Dawn and Karen stood in the door way. They heard a sound and Zev walked out with the new mirror.
“Zev what the hell are you doing?” Dawn was walking up to him.
“Fixing a problem.”
He walked out of the room and then leaned the mirror against the wall. Walking back into the bedroom he went back into the bathroom and came out with a sheet. “Zev!” Grabbing Akira’s uninjured hand they both walked out of the room. He stood in the hallway as Zev moved the mirror to the ground. Zev tossed the sheet over the mirror and then wrapped it under.
Rune walked over, “Want some help?”
“That would be great.” The two lifted the mirror up and they walked down the hall. The brunette watched as the two walked off and he let his shoulders slump. A hand touched his shoulder and he looked over.
“He must really love you Akira.”
“Yeah.” Her hand left his shoulder and he stood there as both Dawn and Karen walked away. It didn’t take long before Zev came walking back down the hallway. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“Yes I did.” He pulled him into the room and closed the door. “You’re not crazy. If you are then your dad will be insane.”
“You have a point.” His hands rested on Akira’s shoulders. The wolf leaned over and kissed Akira. “Mmm… making me feel bad now.”
A chuckle was heard as Zev kissed him again. “Bad in what way?”
Akira smirked and let his hands rest on Zev’s arms, “Down boy.”
The grin on Zev’s face had him smiling, “Crazy or not I still love you.”
The blush on his face was light but it was there. “I know you do.” Those hands moved up from Akira’s shoulders to the side of his head and they kissed again.
“Door is locked and I think you need to unwind a little.”
“How so…” His tongue lightly licked at Zev’s lips.
“She did say you were stressed.”
“I haven’t smoked in almost four days.”
“And three to go.” Zev got an idea and he grinned as he whispered something in Akira’s ear. His face went red and Zev nipped at his neck. “Well?”
“Wish you told me that before.” Akira wrapped his arms around his neck and Zev backed him up against the wall. His hands had moved down to Akira’s hips, thumbs hooked in the belt loops of his pants. They kissed again and Akira moaned into the kiss as Zev pressed up against him. “I could get addicted to this.”
“Good then you can stop smoking.”
“Well I can’t jump you when we’re in the middle of a crowd.”
Zev’s teeth grazed over his neck and a shiver racked his body, “I wouldn’t mind.” His hips pressed against Akira. A moan came from Akira as he shivered. Lips pushed against his as fingers gently brushed over his skin and Akira sighed against his mouth. Akira let out another moan as Zev’s tongue caressed his. They pulled apart and both stood looking at each other their breath coming out in soft pants. “You scared me last night.”
Akira gave a soft smile, “Sorry.” He couldn’t remember much after pulling away from the police station. Only very sharp stabbing pains in his lower stomach. A tongue ran over his cheek and he jerked away smacking his head on the wall. “Ow… fuck will you quit that!”
“You zoned out.” Zev’s thumb was running over the scratch on Akira’s cheek. “It’s almost healed.”
“Did you hear me?”
“Hmmm?”
His eye twitched, “Stupid dog.”
“Come on… its wolf.” The wolf was pouting now as Akira raised an eye brow. He kissed Zev and winced as his injured hand closed around Zev’s shoulder. “What is it?”
“Nothing.” His hand throbbed again. ‘Shit!’ A shout came from Akira when he was picked up. They were moving over to the bed. “H-hey what are you doing?”
He sat him down and grabbed his hand, “Your bleeding again.” The blood could be seen soaking into the bandage. “I knew I smelt blood.” Reaching under the bed he pulled out a box and Akira stared at it.
“You have one in your room.”
Zev glanced at him, “Yeah. There’s one in every room.” He popped the box opened and pulled out so items. Placing the first aid items on the bed he knelt in front of Akira. Akira watched as Zev’s hands unwound the bandage around his hand.
“Everyone wants to help me…”
He looked up at Akira. “Looks like it.”
“Why?”
“Even a great leader needs help sometimes.” His fingers ran over the stitching on the palm of his hand. The bones in his hand had stopped the bullet, so it was only a shallow wound. “Everyone needs help from time to time.” The blood was slowly dripping out and he placed some gauze in his hand. Fresh bandages followed after.
“But someone all ways expects you to pay back the help.”
“I have never asked you to do that once, neither as Marianela, Ransom, Mitch, Jett or anyone else. We don’t need to ask, let us repay you for your help.”
His face flushed and he looked away. “I don’t need any help.”
“Okay. Doesn’t mean we will stop helping.” The wolf ran his hand over Akira’s hand and smiled. “As long it helps keep you alive I’ll do anything.”
Akira snatched his hand away and shouted, “Don’t say that!”
“Wha… why not?”
“I don’t want you to take anything for me. I don’t want you to get hurt because of me!” His hand gripped at his shirt where the pain was at. His chest hurt. “I can’t… not again… please…” Sky blue eyes widened when Akira roughly rubbed at his face. He turned away from Zev and hunched over as he rubbed at his face. “Fuck what is wrong with me.”
“Akira…” He stood up and wrapped his arms around his shoulders. “Hey… I’m not going to go anywhere.”
“You never know.” It was a soft whisper.
“I choose you remember. So I’m not going to leave, I’ll stay with you till my last breath. When that will be I don’t know, hopefully I’ll be old when that happens.”
The brunette made a sound and started laughing.
“What’s so damn funny?” He thought over what he said and growled. “That is so not cool! I am not old damn it!”
“Say’s the one over a hundred and fifty.” His hand was still rubbing at his eyes.
Zev gave a visible twitch as Akira started laughing again. “I’ll show you old!”
He shouted as Zev jumped on top of him. “Ah… you’re going to squish me!” Looking up he found himself face to face with Zev. He had both his arms pinned with one hand and Zev grinned. ‘Shit.’ His legs wouldn’t move, looking down he found them pinned and Zev’s other hand was free. The grin on his face was making him uncomfortable. A finger trailed down his side and he tried to wiggle away from it. The testing fingers started to move along his side. He bit down on his lip to keep from laughing, but it wasn’t helping when Zev persisted. A snort of laughter slipped out and he tried to get away from his hand, “S-stop… that… haha……”
The wolf gave him a big grin as he tickled his sides. “I knew it!” He let go of Akira’s arms and started to tickle the other side. Akira rolled onto his side as he tried to cover both of his sides. The laughter from Akira made him start laughing; the brunette really needed to start laughing more. He thought Akira’s laughter was nice. It made him happy when Akira was happy.

Keir looked up when he saw Akira. The male was yawning as he walked into the kitchen. They nodded to each other and Akira pulled open the fridge. “Where’s Zev?”
“Sleeping.” The door closed and he held a jug of juice in his hand and a bagel in the other.
“He finally let go.”
“Yep.” He bit down on the bagel as he reached up and opened a cabinet. Pulling out a cup he filled it with the juice.
“It’s almost dinner.” Taking the bagel from his mouth he quickly drank the juice and walked to the bar stool.
Akira sat his cup down and shrugged. “I haven’t had anything to eat all day.” He went to take a bite when a hand smacked the back of his head and he cursed. “What the hell was…” He had spun around to yell at the person only to find a ticked off Dawn. She snatched the bagel away from him and walked away. “H-hey! I haven’t eaten all day!”
She glared at him and he flinched, “You’ll eat when everyone else does.”
“But I’m hungry! It only one bagel, shit my stomach is empty!”
“You’ll eat with everyone else.” The bagel flew into the trash can and he slumped over.
He glanced at Keir, “Is she always like this?”
“How so?”
“An evil demon.”
“You ungrateful little brat I’ll show you evil demon!” The brunette jumped back out of his seat and stumbled back as her hand slammed onto the stool. “Did you treat your mother this way?” He flinched and looked way. ‘Now.’ She reached out to grab his shirt but he stepped back tripping over the sleeping Lobo. Two arms hooked under his as he fell back. Looking up he found Zev grinning down at him.
“Hello!”
“I blame you!”
“What did I do?”
“You wouldn’t let me go so I could eat something! You sleep like a log!”
Lobo glanced at Akira and barked. He thumped his tail when Akira and Zev looked at him. “He’s fine Lobo go back to sleep.” He sniffed the air and padded over to Akira. Sniffing him he pawed at his leg then bumped against it.
“What’s he saying?”
“He saying sorry and that he didn’t mean to hurt anyone.”
“I’m fine. Just a little bumped up. It not every day I get chased around a kitchen for eating.” He muttered. Dawn glared at him and Zev found Akira standing behind him. “Keep her away! She is trying to hit me!”
“What for?”
Akira’s stomach gave a growl and he frowned. “Food!”
“Oh you tried to eat before dinner.” He turned to his mother. “This guy eats when he can because of the bounty thing.”
“He better get use to the rules here or he’ll be eating nothing.” She picked up a pan and turned to the stove. “Dinner is in an hour, eat then.”
Zev gently pushed him out of the kitchen and Lobo trotted after. “Come on I’ve got a candy bar you can eat.”
“Fine.”

Ransom looked at the folder and sighed. They just don’t get it. He walked up to the door and knocked. Pushing it opened he called out, “Hello, it’s me Ransom! Is Akira here?”
Dawn walked out drying her hands off. “Hello Ransom. What are you doing here?”
“I’ve been told to drop this off to Akira its important.”
She nodded and pointed up, “You know your way around. He’s either in Zev’s room or with the little ones.”
“Okay!” He took off down the hall.
Akira laid on the bed his head hanging over the edge. Zev was playing a game on his computer and every now and then he would shout out in a different language or growl out as he flipped off the screen. All in all it was very entertaining. He got a grin on his face, “Zev.”
He sighed and called out louder, “Zev!”
Sky blue eyes watched the screen and he saw the head set was still on the wolf’s head. Reaching over he snagged a pillow and tossed it at Zev. He caught the pillow and turned to Akira. “What is it?”
“Bored.”
He saw the smirk on Akira’s face. Looking from the game to Akira back to the game the brunette raised an eyebrow.
“You have to think about it?”
The wolf quickly turned off the game and stood. Rolling over he found Zev knelt next to the bed and they kissed. “No, I was making sure no one was going to pop up.”
“You had better pick me.” He smiled and kissed Akira again. “Mmm, I don’t like to share.”
The brunette shivered as Zev’s hand moved down his back and rested on the small of his back. He could feel the heat of that one hand through his shirt. His own hands dropped down and slipped up Zev’s shirt. A smile formed on his face as the wolf started to kiss along his jaw. A wet tongue flicked over his neck as Zev nipped at his neck. Closing his eyes he leaned his head over showing more of his neck. Gray eyes opened and he blinked. “Zev.”
His hand was moving lower. It slipped under the waist band.
“Zev!”
“Hmmm?”
“Someone is watching.”
Pulling away he stared at him, “Huh?”
Pointing, Zev followed Akira’s hand and looked over at the door to see Ransom hiding his face behind a folder. “Sorry… I’d leave you alone if it wasn’t important.”
He walked over and handed it to Akira. Thumbing through it he sighed as he tossed it to him, “Take it back.”
“But…”
“Take it back.” He rubbed his hand over his head and looked at Ransom. “I don’t want to, I’m not going to. Tell them the same thing. If they can’t get it then I can go see them in person and tell them.”
Ransom shook his head, “Okay fine do what you want. I’m going to head home, got plans tonight.”
“Play nice.”
“S-s-shut up!” Akira watched as Ransom rushed out of the room his face red. Zev looked at the grin on his face.
“You like to tease him don’t you?”
“It’s fun!” He sighed as Zev kissed him and he soon was on his back looking up at the wolf. A shiver went up his spine as Zev nuzzled against his neck.
“How about a little more fun?” A tongue run over his pulse and he smirked. He wrapped his arms around Zev and the wolf stopped to look at him. “What is it?”
His mouth opened and then he closed it as he shook his head. “Nothing, I was just thinking.” The brunette sat up and kissed him.
~~~~
Gray eyes stared at the screen as the images flash across. His arms were wrapped around his legs and a thick blanket covered his body and his head. The door opened and Dawn looked in to find Akira in the same spot. An empty bowl was sitting next to him. Walking over she picked it up, “They should be home soon.”
He nodded and she smiled. She sat down next to him to keep him some company. After dinner was done he and Zev had settled down in the living room to watch some TV. They were interrupted ten minutes later.
There was an attack on another wolf pack in the city. The leader had called for some extra help to fix damages done to the packs home, a large apartment building. The only ones who stayed back were Akira, Dawn, the babies, and Kaya. An hour after they left the storm had hit. That’s what he got for not watching the weather and sleeping in with Zev. His finger dug into the blanket and the storm outside howled. Was everyone okay? The lights flickered and Dawn looked up. “Oh damn and I really don’t want to run out side to get the generator.”
Then the power went out. The brunette stiffened as Dawn stood, “I’m going to go check on Chaim and Liv and then Kaya. You want to come with or stay right here.”
When he didn’t move she sighed and walked out. His body started to shake and he hid his face. ‘Zev… where are you?’
Zev whipped around and looked down the hall. “Zev?”
He glanced back to see Keir looking at him, “Did you hear something?”
Keir raised an eyebrow and the wolf scowled. “I heard nothing. You’re just worrying. He’s fine with mom.”
“But…”
“Zev!” They looked over at their father. “Come here.” He walked over and he found himself looking at a gray haired woman. “This is Rebecca. She’s the leader of this pack.” She had golden eyes and pale skin.
“He reminds me of his mother.” He went red and looked away. “Oh, Caden he’s so cute!”
His eyes narrowed and he quickly looked over his shoulder. “Zev, are you okay?”
Shaking his head he pulled his phone out, “I’m checking on Akira. He’s probably freaking out right now.”
Rebecca smiled, “Why don’t you head home after you call.”
“Are you sure about that? I can stay and help.”
“With you the way you are things will not get done fast enough. Now after you get done talking I want you out. I find that your still here I’ll kick you out.” Even though she was short she still made Zev scared for a second.
“O-okay.” He quickly walked to the stairwell and made his way down from the tenth floor. He was at the second floor when he hung up. No one was answering Akira’s phone or the home phone. His mom wasn’t answering her phone. He pushed Akira’s number and placed the phone to his ear as he tried his number again. ‘Maybe it didn’t go through.’
Akira jumped when his phone vibrated in his pocket. Pulling it out he looked at the name and quickly answered. “Zev…”
“Hey about time I got some one.”
“The power is out.”
“I see.” He could hear a door open and then close. “I’m on my way home.”
“Stay there.”
“Why?”
“I… don’t want you to be out in the storm.”
“To late I’m in the rain and on my way.”
“But…”
“I’ll be there in twenty minutes.” He could hear the laughter in his voice. “I’m going to be wet want me to hug you as soon as I get home or after I get dry?”
“I don’t care just come here.”
“Okay.” It was quiet, but he could still here the sounds of the cars driving by Zev. “Akira.”
“Yeah.”
“I love you.”
His face grew warm and he smiled, “Yeah you tell me every day.”
“And I’ll keep on saying it.”
“Just get home and you can say it to my face.”
“Okay! See you soon!”
The line died and he closed his phone. His fingers ran over the side and turned the volume back on. “Stupid wolf.” His whole body jerked when there was a loud roar of thunder. Slipping to the ground he curled tighter in the blanket. His whole body went stiff when something whispered in his ear.
His body pulled tighter and he held onto his head. ‘It nothing… nothing…’
Something gripped his blanket the hissing whispers got louder and he pushed them away shouting, “Don’t touch me!”
“Akira?” Dawn smiled as she sat up and knelt next to him. He looked up at her blinking his eyes, it was… nothing… right? “Let’s get you up stairs you fell asleep.” She picked up an oil flood lamp, a flame dancing behind the glass.
He nodded and stood. How long was he out for and was that just a dream? Glancing at his phone he sighed, ten minutes. The blanket covered male walked behind her as they walked down the hall. The house was different in the dark. The flame was casting flickering shadows on the walls as they walked. He found himself doing double takes every now and then. Yeah his nerves were shot if he was jumping at every shadow. They walked into Zev’s room and she sat the lamp on the bedside table.
“Okay I’m going to be with the kids, if you need me just shout.”
He nodded again and sat on the bed. The thick blanket had been the one off Zev’s bed. Sliding back he sat in the middle of the bed and tried to calm down. His heart was beating fast as he shivered. His phone was clutched in his hands.
Zev ran down the street. He had hid in an alleyway and shifted after pulling his clothes off. They were hanging from his mouth and his phone hung from his neck as he ran. His breathing was coming out in quick bursts; he was running as fast as he could to get home. The brunette’s voice was shaking as he talked. He knew Akira was scared and he wasn’t there like he said he would be. Sky blue eye saw the house as he pushed himself to run faster. His claws dug into the ground as he jumped the gate and ran up the drive way.
Dawn was standing with the door opened and he dropped his clothes in her arms. He was already running up the steps as Dawn shouted, “Don’t you scratch my floors!!”
Akira turned in time to see the door open, close and then Zev was hugging him close. He wrapped his arms around Zev tight and buried his face against the wet fur. The fur disappeared and Zev stood there in only the shifter shorts. “Where are your clothes?” The phone was removed from around his neck and sat on the bedside table next to the lamp.
“I dropped them down stairs.” Crawling on to the bed he pulled Akira closer and gave a soft sigh. “Come on I’d like some covers to.” The two were curled under the blanket together and Zev was kissing him. He could feel Akira shaking against him. It wasn’t as bad as the first time; he could still feel the shaking as Akira gripped him close.
Every time there was a loud clap of thunder he would jump and tighten his grip. “Zev…”
“Relax, I’m not going anywhere.” One of his hands trialed down Akira’s back and then right back up. Even with his shirt on he could feel those fingers moving up and down along his spine. A shiver raced up his spine and he found his shirt being pushed up. It was tossed on the ground and Zev pulled him closer. Akira sighed as his body relaxed. The feelings from Zev seemed to soak right into him. He found it hard not to relax. That hand was running up and down his back again. His eyes drooped and he nuzzled against Zev’s chest.
Zev’s phone rang and he reached over to pick it up. The brunette snatched it from him and answered. “Hello… he’s busy.” The phone snapped shut and he dropped it on the ground.
“Who was it?”
“Keir. I’m not letting go.” His face nuzzled against his chest. “I feel better when you’re here.”
The wolf slipped his fingers under Akira’s chin and lifted his head up. They kissed and Akira’s hands slipped into his wet hair. “I love you.” Those words were whispered against his lips and he shivered.
Keir stared at his phone as Rune looked over at him. “Was that Akira?” He had sat the phone next to him on speaker as he worked on the large hole with wires stilling hanging out.
“I think.”
“Looks like you interrupted something.”
“Damn it! How the hell are we going to fix this?”
Rune smiled and shooed him to the side. “I’ll do it.” He kissed Keir and turned to the hole in the wall. “Now if I’m right…”
Rebecca looked up when the power flickered and followed by a loud shout, “What was that?”
That has happened to me…. but with my computer. I touched the metal part while still in the socket and got one hell of a jolt. My dad heard me curse and my hand went numb for the whole day. Reviews are welcomed. I am going to start posting this and Desert World on my DeviantART account along with another story.
“Damn it Akira.”
Karen spoke up, “If we knew we could figure this out.”
He clenched his jaw and muttered out, “You don’t need to know.”
“I want to know why.”
He looked at Zev and he shook his head. “Just leave me alone.”
“Akira…”
The doctor placed her hand on Zev’s shoulder. “I’m going to go talk to your mom.”
“Okay.” She took the clipboard from Zev and walked out of the room. She closed it behind her.
“Those two…”
Dawn gave a soft laugh. “Yes but they love each other so much.”
Akira looked at his hands. He could feel Zev’s eyes on him as he ignored the question. “Akira, why can’t I know? Is this the reason why the mirror broke?”
His fingers clenched and he gritted his teeth.
“Akira…” Zev’s fingers reached out and brushed over his arm. He pulled away and the wolf whimpered. “Please I’m worried. Last night you looked so pale and you were cold to the touch.”
He looked at Zev and saw the look on his face. “I’m not going to tell you.”
“Damn it Akira! Why!?”
His eyes narrowed and he growled, “Why do you want to know?”
The wolf reached out and touched his face. “Because I love you and I want you to know I’ll listen no matter what.” He knew the brunette was getting angry.
Akira yanked his hands away and shouted, “I’m not going to tell you! So stop asking!”
“I’m not going to stop.” Sky blue eyes took on a hard edge and they wouldn’t leave him alone. He lowered his head and shook it. He didn’t want to lose Zev, “Akira… please! Tell me.”
“I can’t…”
“Why not?”
“Because I’m not…” he bit his tongue and shook his head again. His hand rubbed at the mark on his left shoulder. “Normal.”
“Normal… did you forget I’m not normal either.”
“You’re more normal then me.” His eyes were different. “I… I’m…”
His hand reached out and brushed though Akira’s hair. “You’re Akira no matter what. Let me know what’s bugging you. Please.”
“No.”
He hung his head, “Damn it Akira.”
“What do you want me to say…” Zev looked at him. His eyes were focused on him and his storm gray eyes were darker than normal. His voice was rising with every word. “I’m crazy. I’m seeing things that would get me toss back into that hell hole! Or about the fact I can hear things and I can’t tell my own mine from everyone else’s! I look like a human sized fight dummy and I have a fucking hole in my hand. I can’t take a piss without hearing voices and I keep seeing things in your damn mirror! So leave me the fuck alone!” He clamped a hand over his mouth and grew quiet. Akira looked away and picked at the blanket. He must be really stressed if his anger just lashed out like that.
Standing up Zev muttered something. He shouted when Zev lifted him up into his arms. “We’ll fix it then.”
“Put me down!”
“No.” He walked past the two women and up the stairs.
“Zev where are you going?”
“To fix a problem.” Akira was struggling to get out of his arms only he found himself flipped over Zev’s shoulder.
“Put me down damn it!”
Rune and Keir watched as Zev walked by with the brunette. “What’s going on?”
Looking up at Keir he quickly said, “Didn’t you here the argument?”
“No.”
“Akira is seeing things in the mirror again.”
“Again?”
He shook his head. “I can’t say.”
Akira bounced as he was dropped on the bed, “Don’t move.” He walked into the bathroom as Dawn and Karen stood in the door way. They heard a sound and Zev walked out with the new mirror.
“Zev what the hell are you doing?” Dawn was walking up to him.
“Fixing a problem.”
He walked out of the room and then leaned the mirror against the wall. Walking back into the bedroom he went back into the bathroom and came out with a sheet. “Zev!” Grabbing Akira’s uninjured hand they both walked out of the room. He stood in the hallway as Zev moved the mirror to the ground. Zev tossed the sheet over the mirror and then wrapped it under.
Rune walked over, “Want some help?”
“That would be great.” The two lifted the mirror up and they walked down the hall. The brunette watched as the two walked off and he let his shoulders slump. A hand touched his shoulder and he looked over.
“He must really love you Akira.”
“Yeah.” Her hand left his shoulder and he stood there as both Dawn and Karen walked away. It didn’t take long before Zev came walking back down the hallway. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“Yes I did.” He pulled him into the room and closed the door. “You’re not crazy. If you are then your dad will be insane.”
“You have a point.” His hands rested on Akira’s shoulders. The wolf leaned over and kissed Akira. “Mmm… making me feel bad now.”
A chuckle was heard as Zev kissed him again. “Bad in what way?”
Akira smirked and let his hands rest on Zev’s arms, “Down boy.”
The grin on Zev’s face had him smiling, “Crazy or not I still love you.”
The blush on his face was light but it was there. “I know you do.” Those hands moved up from Akira’s shoulders to the side of his head and they kissed again.
“Door is locked and I think you need to unwind a little.”
“How so…” His tongue lightly licked at Zev’s lips.
“She did say you were stressed.”
“I haven’t smoked in almost four days.”
“And three to go.” Zev got an idea and he grinned as he whispered something in Akira’s ear. His face went red and Zev nipped at his neck. “Well?”
“Wish you told me that before.” Akira wrapped his arms around his neck and Zev backed him up against the wall. His hands had moved down to Akira’s hips, thumbs hooked in the belt loops of his pants. They kissed again and Akira moaned into the kiss as Zev pressed up against him. “I could get addicted to this.”
“Good then you can stop smoking.”
“Well I can’t jump you when we’re in the middle of a crowd.”
Zev’s teeth grazed over his neck and a shiver racked his body, “I wouldn’t mind.” His hips pressed against Akira. A moan came from Akira as he shivered. Lips pushed against his as fingers gently brushed over his skin and Akira sighed against his mouth. Akira let out another moan as Zev’s tongue caressed his. They pulled apart and both stood looking at each other their breath coming out in soft pants. “You scared me last night.”
Akira gave a soft smile, “Sorry.” He couldn’t remember much after pulling away from the police station. Only very sharp stabbing pains in his lower stomach. A tongue ran over his cheek and he jerked away smacking his head on the wall. “Ow… fuck will you quit that!”
“You zoned out.” Zev’s thumb was running over the scratch on Akira’s cheek. “It’s almost healed.”
“Did you hear me?”
“Hmmm?”
His eye twitched, “Stupid dog.”
“Come on… its wolf.” The wolf was pouting now as Akira raised an eye brow. He kissed Zev and winced as his injured hand closed around Zev’s shoulder. “What is it?”
“Nothing.” His hand throbbed again. ‘Shit!’ A shout came from Akira when he was picked up. They were moving over to the bed. “H-hey what are you doing?”
He sat him down and grabbed his hand, “Your bleeding again.” The blood could be seen soaking into the bandage. “I knew I smelt blood.” Reaching under the bed he pulled out a box and Akira stared at it.
“You have one in your room.”
Zev glanced at him, “Yeah. There’s one in every room.” He popped the box opened and pulled out so items. Placing the first aid items on the bed he knelt in front of Akira. Akira watched as Zev’s hands unwound the bandage around his hand.
“Everyone wants to help me…”
He looked up at Akira. “Looks like it.”
“Why?”
“Even a great leader needs help sometimes.” His fingers ran over the stitching on the palm of his hand. The bones in his hand had stopped the bullet, so it was only a shallow wound. “Everyone needs help from time to time.” The blood was slowly dripping out and he placed some gauze in his hand. Fresh bandages followed after.
“But someone all ways expects you to pay back the help.”
“I have never asked you to do that once, neither as Marianela, Ransom, Mitch, Jett or anyone else. We don’t need to ask, let us repay you for your help.”
His face flushed and he looked away. “I don’t need any help.”
“Okay. Doesn’t mean we will stop helping.” The wolf ran his hand over Akira’s hand and smiled. “As long it helps keep you alive I’ll do anything.”
Akira snatched his hand away and shouted, “Don’t say that!”
“Wha… why not?”
“I don’t want you to take anything for me. I don’t want you to get hurt because of me!” His hand gripped at his shirt where the pain was at. His chest hurt. “I can’t… not again… please…” Sky blue eyes widened when Akira roughly rubbed at his face. He turned away from Zev and hunched over as he rubbed at his face. “Fuck what is wrong with me.”
“Akira…” He stood up and wrapped his arms around his shoulders. “Hey… I’m not going to go anywhere.”
“You never know.” It was a soft whisper.
“I choose you remember. So I’m not going to leave, I’ll stay with you till my last breath. When that will be I don’t know, hopefully I’ll be old when that happens.”
The brunette made a sound and started laughing.
“What’s so damn funny?” He thought over what he said and growled. “That is so not cool! I am not old damn it!”
“Say’s the one over a hundred and fifty.” His hand was still rubbing at his eyes.
Zev gave a visible twitch as Akira started laughing again. “I’ll show you old!”
He shouted as Zev jumped on top of him. “Ah… you’re going to squish me!” Looking up he found himself face to face with Zev. He had both his arms pinned with one hand and Zev grinned. ‘Shit.’ His legs wouldn’t move, looking down he found them pinned and Zev’s other hand was free. The grin on his face was making him uncomfortable. A finger trailed down his side and he tried to wiggle away from it. The testing fingers started to move along his side. He bit down on his lip to keep from laughing, but it wasn’t helping when Zev persisted. A snort of laughter slipped out and he tried to get away from his hand, “S-stop… that… haha……”
The wolf gave him a big grin as he tickled his sides. “I knew it!” He let go of Akira’s arms and started to tickle the other side. Akira rolled onto his side as he tried to cover both of his sides. The laughter from Akira made him start laughing; the brunette really needed to start laughing more. He thought Akira’s laughter was nice. It made him happy when Akira was happy.
Keir looked up when he saw Akira. The male was yawning as he walked into the kitchen. They nodded to each other and Akira pulled open the fridge. “Where’s Zev?”
“Sleeping.” The door closed and he held a jug of juice in his hand and a bagel in the other.
“He finally let go.”
“Yep.” He bit down on the bagel as he reached up and opened a cabinet. Pulling out a cup he filled it with the juice.
“It’s almost dinner.” Taking the bagel from his mouth he quickly drank the juice and walked to the bar stool.
Akira sat his cup down and shrugged. “I haven’t had anything to eat all day.” He went to take a bite when a hand smacked the back of his head and he cursed. “What the hell was…” He had spun around to yell at the person only to find a ticked off Dawn. She snatched the bagel away from him and walked away. “H-hey! I haven’t eaten all day!”
She glared at him and he flinched, “You’ll eat when everyone else does.”
“But I’m hungry! It only one bagel, shit my stomach is empty!”
“You’ll eat with everyone else.” The bagel flew into the trash can and he slumped over.
He glanced at Keir, “Is she always like this?”
“How so?”
“An evil demon.”
“You ungrateful little brat I’ll show you evil demon!” The brunette jumped back out of his seat and stumbled back as her hand slammed onto the stool. “Did you treat your mother this way?” He flinched and looked way. ‘Now.’ She reached out to grab his shirt but he stepped back tripping over the sleeping Lobo. Two arms hooked under his as he fell back. Looking up he found Zev grinning down at him.
“Hello!”
“I blame you!”
“What did I do?”
“You wouldn’t let me go so I could eat something! You sleep like a log!”
Lobo glanced at Akira and barked. He thumped his tail when Akira and Zev looked at him. “He’s fine Lobo go back to sleep.” He sniffed the air and padded over to Akira. Sniffing him he pawed at his leg then bumped against it.
“What’s he saying?”
“He saying sorry and that he didn’t mean to hurt anyone.”
“I’m fine. Just a little bumped up. It not every day I get chased around a kitchen for eating.” He muttered. Dawn glared at him and Zev found Akira standing behind him. “Keep her away! She is trying to hit me!”
“What for?”
Akira’s stomach gave a growl and he frowned. “Food!”
“Oh you tried to eat before dinner.” He turned to his mother. “This guy eats when he can because of the bounty thing.”
“He better get use to the rules here or he’ll be eating nothing.” She picked up a pan and turned to the stove. “Dinner is in an hour, eat then.”
Zev gently pushed him out of the kitchen and Lobo trotted after. “Come on I’ve got a candy bar you can eat.”
“Fine.”
Ransom looked at the folder and sighed. They just don’t get it. He walked up to the door and knocked. Pushing it opened he called out, “Hello, it’s me Ransom! Is Akira here?”
Dawn walked out drying her hands off. “Hello Ransom. What are you doing here?”
“I’ve been told to drop this off to Akira its important.”
She nodded and pointed up, “You know your way around. He’s either in Zev’s room or with the little ones.”
“Okay!” He took off down the hall.
Akira laid on the bed his head hanging over the edge. Zev was playing a game on his computer and every now and then he would shout out in a different language or growl out as he flipped off the screen. All in all it was very entertaining. He got a grin on his face, “Zev.”
He sighed and called out louder, “Zev!”
Sky blue eyes watched the screen and he saw the head set was still on the wolf’s head. Reaching over he snagged a pillow and tossed it at Zev. He caught the pillow and turned to Akira. “What is it?”
“Bored.”
He saw the smirk on Akira’s face. Looking from the game to Akira back to the game the brunette raised an eyebrow.
“You have to think about it?”
The wolf quickly turned off the game and stood. Rolling over he found Zev knelt next to the bed and they kissed. “No, I was making sure no one was going to pop up.”
“You had better pick me.” He smiled and kissed Akira again. “Mmm, I don’t like to share.”
The brunette shivered as Zev’s hand moved down his back and rested on the small of his back. He could feel the heat of that one hand through his shirt. His own hands dropped down and slipped up Zev’s shirt. A smile formed on his face as the wolf started to kiss along his jaw. A wet tongue flicked over his neck as Zev nipped at his neck. Closing his eyes he leaned his head over showing more of his neck. Gray eyes opened and he blinked. “Zev.”
His hand was moving lower. It slipped under the waist band.
“Zev!”
“Hmmm?”
“Someone is watching.”
Pulling away he stared at him, “Huh?”
Pointing, Zev followed Akira’s hand and looked over at the door to see Ransom hiding his face behind a folder. “Sorry… I’d leave you alone if it wasn’t important.”
He walked over and handed it to Akira. Thumbing through it he sighed as he tossed it to him, “Take it back.”
“But…”
“Take it back.” He rubbed his hand over his head and looked at Ransom. “I don’t want to, I’m not going to. Tell them the same thing. If they can’t get it then I can go see them in person and tell them.”
Ransom shook his head, “Okay fine do what you want. I’m going to head home, got plans tonight.”
“Play nice.”
“S-s-shut up!” Akira watched as Ransom rushed out of the room his face red. Zev looked at the grin on his face.
“You like to tease him don’t you?”
“It’s fun!” He sighed as Zev kissed him and he soon was on his back looking up at the wolf. A shiver went up his spine as Zev nuzzled against his neck.
“How about a little more fun?” A tongue run over his pulse and he smirked. He wrapped his arms around Zev and the wolf stopped to look at him. “What is it?”
His mouth opened and then he closed it as he shook his head. “Nothing, I was just thinking.” The brunette sat up and kissed him.
~~~~
Gray eyes stared at the screen as the images flash across. His arms were wrapped around his legs and a thick blanket covered his body and his head. The door opened and Dawn looked in to find Akira in the same spot. An empty bowl was sitting next to him. Walking over she picked it up, “They should be home soon.”
He nodded and she smiled. She sat down next to him to keep him some company. After dinner was done he and Zev had settled down in the living room to watch some TV. They were interrupted ten minutes later.
There was an attack on another wolf pack in the city. The leader had called for some extra help to fix damages done to the packs home, a large apartment building. The only ones who stayed back were Akira, Dawn, the babies, and Kaya. An hour after they left the storm had hit. That’s what he got for not watching the weather and sleeping in with Zev. His finger dug into the blanket and the storm outside howled. Was everyone okay? The lights flickered and Dawn looked up. “Oh damn and I really don’t want to run out side to get the generator.”
Then the power went out. The brunette stiffened as Dawn stood, “I’m going to go check on Chaim and Liv and then Kaya. You want to come with or stay right here.”
When he didn’t move she sighed and walked out. His body started to shake and he hid his face. ‘Zev… where are you?’
Zev whipped around and looked down the hall. “Zev?”
He glanced back to see Keir looking at him, “Did you hear something?”
Keir raised an eyebrow and the wolf scowled. “I heard nothing. You’re just worrying. He’s fine with mom.”
“But…”
“Zev!” They looked over at their father. “Come here.” He walked over and he found himself looking at a gray haired woman. “This is Rebecca. She’s the leader of this pack.” She had golden eyes and pale skin.
“He reminds me of his mother.” He went red and looked away. “Oh, Caden he’s so cute!”
His eyes narrowed and he quickly looked over his shoulder. “Zev, are you okay?”
Shaking his head he pulled his phone out, “I’m checking on Akira. He’s probably freaking out right now.”
Rebecca smiled, “Why don’t you head home after you call.”
“Are you sure about that? I can stay and help.”
“With you the way you are things will not get done fast enough. Now after you get done talking I want you out. I find that your still here I’ll kick you out.” Even though she was short she still made Zev scared for a second.
“O-okay.” He quickly walked to the stairwell and made his way down from the tenth floor. He was at the second floor when he hung up. No one was answering Akira’s phone or the home phone. His mom wasn’t answering her phone. He pushed Akira’s number and placed the phone to his ear as he tried his number again. ‘Maybe it didn’t go through.’
Akira jumped when his phone vibrated in his pocket. Pulling it out he looked at the name and quickly answered. “Zev…”
“Hey about time I got some one.”
“The power is out.”
“I see.” He could hear a door open and then close. “I’m on my way home.”
“Stay there.”
“Why?”
“I… don’t want you to be out in the storm.”
“To late I’m in the rain and on my way.”
“But…”
“I’ll be there in twenty minutes.” He could hear the laughter in his voice. “I’m going to be wet want me to hug you as soon as I get home or after I get dry?”
“I don’t care just come here.”
“Okay.” It was quiet, but he could still here the sounds of the cars driving by Zev. “Akira.”
“Yeah.”
“I love you.”
His face grew warm and he smiled, “Yeah you tell me every day.”
“And I’ll keep on saying it.”
“Just get home and you can say it to my face.”
“Okay! See you soon!”
The line died and he closed his phone. His fingers ran over the side and turned the volume back on. “Stupid wolf.” His whole body jerked when there was a loud roar of thunder. Slipping to the ground he curled tighter in the blanket. His whole body went stiff when something whispered in his ear.
His body pulled tighter and he held onto his head. ‘It nothing… nothing…’
Something gripped his blanket the hissing whispers got louder and he pushed them away shouting, “Don’t touch me!”
“Akira?” Dawn smiled as she sat up and knelt next to him. He looked up at her blinking his eyes, it was… nothing… right? “Let’s get you up stairs you fell asleep.” She picked up an oil flood lamp, a flame dancing behind the glass.
He nodded and stood. How long was he out for and was that just a dream? Glancing at his phone he sighed, ten minutes. The blanket covered male walked behind her as they walked down the hall. The house was different in the dark. The flame was casting flickering shadows on the walls as they walked. He found himself doing double takes every now and then. Yeah his nerves were shot if he was jumping at every shadow. They walked into Zev’s room and she sat the lamp on the bedside table.
“Okay I’m going to be with the kids, if you need me just shout.”
He nodded again and sat on the bed. The thick blanket had been the one off Zev’s bed. Sliding back he sat in the middle of the bed and tried to calm down. His heart was beating fast as he shivered. His phone was clutched in his hands.
Zev ran down the street. He had hid in an alleyway and shifted after pulling his clothes off. They were hanging from his mouth and his phone hung from his neck as he ran. His breathing was coming out in quick bursts; he was running as fast as he could to get home. The brunette’s voice was shaking as he talked. He knew Akira was scared and he wasn’t there like he said he would be. Sky blue eye saw the house as he pushed himself to run faster. His claws dug into the ground as he jumped the gate and ran up the drive way.
Dawn was standing with the door opened and he dropped his clothes in her arms. He was already running up the steps as Dawn shouted, “Don’t you scratch my floors!!”
Akira turned in time to see the door open, close and then Zev was hugging him close. He wrapped his arms around Zev tight and buried his face against the wet fur. The fur disappeared and Zev stood there in only the shifter shorts. “Where are your clothes?” The phone was removed from around his neck and sat on the bedside table next to the lamp.
“I dropped them down stairs.” Crawling on to the bed he pulled Akira closer and gave a soft sigh. “Come on I’d like some covers to.” The two were curled under the blanket together and Zev was kissing him. He could feel Akira shaking against him. It wasn’t as bad as the first time; he could still feel the shaking as Akira gripped him close.
Every time there was a loud clap of thunder he would jump and tighten his grip. “Zev…”
“Relax, I’m not going anywhere.” One of his hands trialed down Akira’s back and then right back up. Even with his shirt on he could feel those fingers moving up and down along his spine. A shiver raced up his spine and he found his shirt being pushed up. It was tossed on the ground and Zev pulled him closer. Akira sighed as his body relaxed. The feelings from Zev seemed to soak right into him. He found it hard not to relax. That hand was running up and down his back again. His eyes drooped and he nuzzled against Zev’s chest.
Zev’s phone rang and he reached over to pick it up. The brunette snatched it from him and answered. “Hello… he’s busy.” The phone snapped shut and he dropped it on the ground.
“Who was it?”
“Keir. I’m not letting go.” His face nuzzled against his chest. “I feel better when you’re here.”
The wolf slipped his fingers under Akira’s chin and lifted his head up. They kissed and Akira’s hands slipped into his wet hair. “I love you.” Those words were whispered against his lips and he shivered.
Keir stared at his phone as Rune looked over at him. “Was that Akira?” He had sat the phone next to him on speaker as he worked on the large hole with wires stilling hanging out.
“I think.”
“Looks like you interrupted something.”
“Damn it! How the hell are we going to fix this?”
Rune smiled and shooed him to the side. “I’ll do it.” He kissed Keir and turned to the hole in the wall. “Now if I’m right…”
Rebecca looked up when the power flickered and followed by a loud shout, “What was that?”

That has happened to me…. but with my computer. I touched the metal part while still in the socket and got one hell of a jolt. My dad heard me curse and my hand went numb for the whole day. Reviews are welcomed. I am going to start posting this and Desert World on my DeviantART account along with another story.
