Akira sat in the chair fidgeting. “Damn it I need a smoke.”

“She said no.” Zev was standing next to him. After she had left he was untied and they both waited. The door opened and she walked in. “Well?”

“I can’t find anything. I’m still not sure what’s going on with your body. Dawn and I both looked and we’re confused. All the pains and sickness it just doesn’t add up.”

“So nothing is wrong?”

Karen looked at Akira and shook her head, “There is something wrong. I just can’t find it, so I’m coming back in a week. If nothing has improved then I’m doing another blood test along with a…”

“Hell no!”

Both of them looked at Akira. “Akira, what if you are sick and this is the only way to find it.”

“No more test! No more!” He was gone out of the room and Zev sighed.

The doctor turned to Zev, “Keep an eye on him. If it gets worse I want to know.”

“I’ll tell you.”

“I don’t want him smoking at all this week. I want to cut out any chances it could be that.” She handed him a book and added. “Every time he has pain, gets sick, or if anything new shows up write it down. I’ll take a look at the book when I come back.”

Zev peeked into his room and found Akira perched on the windowsill. A cig hung from his mouth. He walked over and snatched it from him. “What the hell?”

“No more.” He held his hand out. Akira stared at it, “Come on give it up.”

“Like hell.”

Ten minutes later Akira sat on the bed in only his boxers. “That should be the last of them.” Looking back he saw the stunned look on the brunette’s face.

“What just happened?”

He closed the box and locked it. It was a combination box and only one word could open it. “No more till after we find out what’s wrong with you.”

The brunette growled and grabbed his clothes off the floor. He started to pull them on, “I’m heading out to get more then.”

The wolf snorted, “Sure you are.”

“What do you mean?” He held up a wallet and Akira growled, “Give that back!”

“No.”

“Why not?!”

Zev opened it and stepped back as Akira tried to snatch it back. “You can have it back at the end of the week.”

“Damn it, give it back.” He watched as Zev pulled out all the money and then tossed him his wallet. “Hey!”

“What, you got it back.” He grabbed the box and opened the door. Dawn was standing there, “Here you go, I’ll get it from you at the end of this week.”

“Sorry Akira, but we’re all worried about you.” She walked off and Zev flinched as the bathroom door slammed shut.

“Damn it.” He was soon knocking on the bathroom door. “Come on Akira, open up.” His head thumped against the door. “Look Karen wants to limit any possible chance that could cause you to act this way. So please don’t get mad.” When there was no reply Zev sighed and he turned. His body froze when there was a loud shatter. He grabbed the doorknob and tried to open the door. “Akira!” It wouldn’t budge. “Akira!”

“Zev, what are you shouting about!?” Keir was standing in the doorway.

“The door it won’t budge.”

“That’s odd the bedroom baths don’t have locks.” He twisted the knob and pushed. It didn’t move. “Kick it.” Stepping back his foot slammed into the door. It finally swung open and Zev rushed into the bathroom.

The mirror was shattered and Akira wasn’t in there. “Akira?”

“Check where the towels are at.”

They opened the small closet and found Akira huddled in the corner. “Akira?” He moved away and Zev knelt down. Keir was looking at the mirror as Zev tried to get him out.

“Ask him how the mirror broke.”

“Why?”

“It doesn’t look like he punched it.”

Zev stood and looked at it. The cracks stretched out across the half that was still on there, the other half was shattered on the counter and floor. “I don’t smell blood.” He looked at Keir and Keir shook his head.

“I’ll go tell mom your mirror is broken, again.”

His twin walked out of the bathroom as he shouted. “The first time was not my fault!” Moving back over to the closet he looked in and found Akira was still in the far corner. “Damn it, I can’t get in. It sucks when you’re tall.” He laid down on his stomach and army crawled his way closer to Akira.

His hand reached out and Akira looked at him. He flinched at the look in his eyes. “Hey, you okay?” The fear was very visible. “Akira?”

“Sorry.”

“What about?”

“I broke your mirror.”

He waved it off, “It’s fine. The first time it fell off the wall.” His hand rested on Akira’s shoulder and he smiled at him. “Come on; let’s get out of here and into the room. You can tell me what happened if you want.”

Zev watched as Akira uncurled himself and they soon were walking out of the bathroom. Akira sat on the bed and looked at Zev. He was about to say something when Dawn came rushing in and pulled Akira into a big hug. Blinking he went red and then went quiet. “Keir told me what happened. Did you cut yourself when it broke?”

“No. I was just standing when it shattered. I think I shattered it a different way.”

“Okay. Jeez I was so scared when I heard the shatter and then Keir told me what happened.” She pulled away and looked at him. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

He stared at her and then smiled, “Yeah.”

“Good. I’m going to clean up the mess and I’ll call in someone to come fix the mirror.” She walked out and grabbed a broom and a trash bag. “Alright you two head down and get some lunch I’ll clean this up.”

Akira stood and followed Zev. “I really need a smoke.”

“It’s only one week.”

“It feels longer.”

“It’ll get easier.”

“I hope.” He rubbed the back of his neck as they walked. His body froze when he heard a soft whisper. Spinning around he slowly backed up, his eyes looked around the large hall. A hand touched his shoulder and he jumped. Zev caught the fist and sighed.

“Why are you jumpy?”

“S-sorry.”

He held that hand as he pulled him along. A blush crossed his face again and he smiled. “Relax. No doctor will jump your bones.”

“Ha-ha.” ‘That’s not it.’ Akira took a breath and gave his head a good shake. Zev soon found himself being dragged along. “I’m hungry!”
^^^^

Rune skidded around the corner and shouted, “Akira!” Said brunette turned and looked at him. He grabbed his hands and almost shouted because he was so excited. “You have to come to my gig tomorrow!”

He twitched and muttered. “I…”

The dark haired male’s eye grew big and round and Akira sighed.

“Fine. I’ll go.”

“Yay!” Akira watched as the small male started to jump up and down. “I’m so happy! Okay I’m going to go and call Silver and tell him to get two more passes for you and Zev.”

“Zev said he was going?”

“Yeah I just asked him. Well I got to go now!” He watched as Rune ran off again and he headed to the kitchen. He needed more food.
^^^^

Akira twitched when he smelt the smoke. Oh man did he need a smoke. His head thudded on the table as he and Zev sat outside the club. Zev looked at the male as he gave an aggravated groan. “I need to light one up!”

“No you don’t.” The straw was hanging from his mouth.

“Then I’m getting a drink.”

“We’ll see.”

The brunette glared at him and then went back to banging his head on the table. “I can’t do this!” He swatted Zev’s hand away as he tried to pat his head. “No way in hell you’re doing whatever the hell it is you do!”

He smiled and copied Akira by laying his head on the table. “It will get better.”

“Like hell it is.” His hands grabbed Zev by the front of his shirt. “I need one damn it!” Zev sweated and tried to get him to let go of his shirt.

“Akira?”

They both looked over to see Ginger. “G-ginger? What are you doing here?”

“I came by to see this band everyone is talking about.”

The brunette smiled and let go of the front of Zev’s shirt. He walked over to her, “Let’s go inside I’ll let you talk to Rune.”

“Really?”

“Hold it!”

Ginger turned as Akira growled, “Oh it’s the wolf!”

“He can’t have any smokes for one week.”

“What for?”

Akira grumbled as he looked away. “Doctor’s orders.”

“Looks like there catching up to you!”

“Shut up Ginger.”

“Akira!” They looked over to see Rune. “Come on we’re ready to start.”

Ginger grabbed Akira’s arm and dragged him in, “Come on, your cute little friend is waiting.” Zev followed after them and they all walked into the loud club. They could see a table opened and they all headed over to it. Sitting down Akira looked over at the stage. You could see Rune and the others talking as they went over the songs. The sounds died down as Rune walked up to the mic.

He grinned and then the music started. “Oh wow they are good.”

“Yeah they’ll be going on tour soon.” She looked at Akira.

“Really?”

“Yep.” He tapped the table and Zev placed his hand over his. “What?” Leaning over he felt a shiver go up his spine when Zev said something against his ear. A smile graced his face and the wolf pulled away.

“Hmmm, what was that?”

The brunette looked at her and the catty grin she had on her face. “Nothing.”

“Really…?” She smiled and clapped her hands. “You’ve finally settled. Yay!”

“Ginger!” What is with women these days?

“What? That means you won’t be coming to the Underground anymore.” The red head pouted and then grinned, “Oh well doesn’t matter! I was hoping you would settle soon, you’ve had one too many…”

“I get it!”

She giggled and waved her hand at him, “Aw it just so lovely. Plus he’s a wolf, you can feel every emotion, makes me wonder how the night life…”

The brunette went red as he shouted, “Ginger stop it!”

“Oh my, I got him flustered.” He glared at her. Just then Zev appeared with two bottles he sat one down and handed the other to Akira.

“Half remember.”

“Yeah, yeah….”

“I didn’t know what to get for you.”

Ginger perked up, “This one is for me?”

“Yeah.”

“Thank you. Akira I approve of this one, and let me tell you most of the guys he was with were lower than dirt didn’t know how to treat a lady.” She took a look at the bottle. “That is the best. You’ve got taste! But I’m not drinking tonight so one of you can have it.”

“Thanks.” He gave an embarrassed chuckle and she winked at him. Zev yelped when Akira kicked his leg, “Ow.”

“There there Akira I’m not going to still your boy from you.” He glared at her and she smiled. “We need to celebrate.”

Akira looked at her, “What for?”

“Because of this good fellow here. He took you off the market, and is very good for you. I can see it.”

“Damn it Ginger.” He looked away and covered the bottom half of his face.

The wolf smiled and took the bottle from Akira, “Sounds good. It is just one night.”

“Can I smoke?”

“Nope.”

“Damn it.”

Ginger patted his shoulder, “You need to quit anyways. Besides, what if you adopt a kid? Don’t want to set bad examples now.”

“Like they’ll let me adopt a kid, or did you forget?”

The woman leaned back and she smiled as she pulled her loose shirt tight. Both of their eyes went wide, “Ginger, is that?”

“Yes. My first little baby.” She sat up and placed her hands on the table. “I think Akira would be a good parent, he’s got heart. Remember that kid who tried to do the street fight for the Underground?”

“Yes, the one that wanted to fight to help his mom.”

Zev looked at the woman as she smiled, “I remember what happened all of it.”

“What happened?”

She looked at Zev, “Akira told him to get lost. The boy wouldn’t step down, so Akira made a deal.”

He placed his chin on his hand. “That deal was if he could hit me three times he could go into the fighting.”

“How far did he get?”

Ginger started laughing, “He kicked Akira up the middle.”

The wolf winced and looked at the brunette, “Really?”

“Yeah.” He looked away and muttered something.

“But Akira was quick to get back up. Before the kid could even touch him the second time he had the kid pined to the ground. It was at this moment that I found out Akira really had a heart, he won’t attack a person who’s got family, is considered a kid, or… what was the other one?”

“Has a life already set for them.”

“That also. Besides he gave half the prize money to the kid. It was enough for the kid’s mom to have the operation.”

Zev looked at Akira and smiled, “I knew you cared.”

“Shut up dog.”

He growled, “What is with you and calling me that?”

She smiled at the two, “Hey drinks on me!” They watched as she walked off from the table and then looked at each other.

“Who’s driving?”

“Keir.”

“Does he know?”

Zev held his phone up and grinned as it flashed an answer on the screen. “Yes and he’s pissed.”

“Where is he?”

“Back stage.” Akira leaned over and kissed him. He was caught off but his eyes soon slipped closed.

Ginger walked over with a pitcher of alcohol, two glassed, and a bottle of water. “Breath!”

The two pulled apart and she started to laugh at the dazed look on Zev’s face. “Jeez, Ginger.” The wolf shook his head as she sat the stuff on the table. The two took some and then they all watched as Rune’s band played.

In only an hour’s time Akira’s attitude started to change. He was more open than normal, “What about Mick?”

The brunette was leaned over the table, elbow rested on the table top. A cup was in his hand and the other tangled in his hair as Ginger asked questions. Questions he really didn’t want to answer with Zev next to him. “He can go to hell! Bastard was only trying to get close to Marianela! I’m glad she slugged him with the frying pan.”

Zev chuckled, “Your sister is a stubborn woman. Ransom has his hands full.”

“Bah!” He waved his hand at Zev. “Ransom is good for her; he would place himself in front of danger to keep her safe.”

“What about Raith?” He looked at her and then looked at the table. “Believe it or not he was a good person. Helped me out when Mitch…” He shook his head after thinking about it. “I thought everything was good, till I found him in bed with another person.”

“Ouch.” She patted his head.

“That would explain why Rune reacted the way he did.” Zev muttered.

Akira smiled and looked at Zev, “I’m glad I met you, even if you were the most annoying person ever. By the way you need to get rid of that fan club you have.”

“I would love too.” He muttered as he took a long drink from his cup. “We should make out right in front of them.”

“That would be fun, but they might kill me.”

“Oooo, cat fight!” She turned to Akira and asked one more question. “What about Leon?”

The brunette looked at her and then he sighed, “He can go die.” His eyes were cold and dark as he looked at her. “I hope I never see him again.”

“Akira!” Rune jumped onto Akira’s back and the brunette found himself trying to keep from falling off the chair. “So what did you think?”

“Great.” He went to take a drink and Rune grabbed it from him, “Hey!”

When the cup was passed back to him it was empty. “That is some good stuff.”

“Yes and you took the rest of it!”

“Sorry… can we get more?”

“Sorry Hun, I’m out I can’t buy any more.” Ginger was grinning at the man as he whimpered.

Akira sighed and then looked at Zev he still had some in his cup. “No more for you.”

“But… damn it.”

“Sorry Akira.” Rune sat the cup down and hugged him.

Soon both were on the ground and Ginger was next to them, “Get the hell out of here you damn freaks!” Zev growled as he stood and Keir was already pushing his way through the crowd.

A group in red and black with covered faces stood blocking the exit. Akira was covering Rune and he was glaring at the person in the front. “Rune, are you okay?”

“Yeah it only nicked my face.”

Ginger looked at the small male’s face, “We should get you check out just in case it might be harmful.”

He nodded and Akira growled as he stood. Keir was crouched next to them, “What happened?”

“Rune was attacked.”

“Get the fuck out of our city you damn freaks!” There was a loud bang as a gun went off in the club. People were screaming and running for the back door. Zev was pulling Akira’s arm when they started to shoot wildly into the crowd. One bullet went for Zev and it stopped an inch from his head. He quickly moved away when it dropped to the ground. Akira was panting next to him.

“Damn that was hard.” He tipped some tables over and pulled Zev behind them.

“Who the hell are those people?”

“There against Human-Paranormal relationships.” He looked at him and smiled. “It’s the first step and soon my painting will come true.” Peeking over the table he saw Keir helping Ginger and Rune over to them. He jumped over the table and helped Ginger over. Rune dove over and Keir was next. He was about to get over when he sensed it. Turning he grabbed the man and went to toss him, only he found himself pushed on the floor.

There was a click as the gun was pushed against his head. “So which bitch marked you.” Looking at his shoulder you could see lines and shapes that formed the shape of a wolf’s head.

“If you pull that trigger you’ll never make it out of here alive.”

“Really? Cause I don’t care, its sick how a human and a paranormal can lay together, make a family, and contaminate this world.”

He could feel Zev’s anger rising the longer that gun was pushed against his head. “I suggest you put the gun down.”

A shot rang through the air as Akira cried out and fell on his side clutching his hand. “Don’t talk to me you piece of shit.”

Keir and Rune kept a tight hold on Zev. He was close to shifting and they really didn’t need that right now. The pain soon faded and Akira looked at the person standing over him, “Why do you hate so much? Is it because you lost your family in the bomb?”

A bullet ricochet off the ground next to his head. “Shut up your nothing but trash and deserve to die like trash.” Akira’s pupils narrowed. He smirked and slowly sat up, “Stay down.”

He was slowly climbing to his feet now. “I said to get on the ground.” The gun went off and the bullet stopped in mid air. The man’s eye widened and Akira’s hand shot forward. The gun was tossed to the side and it skid across the ground.

He had the man by the front of his shirt and his injured hand was up in the air. “Are you sure I’m human?”

The fear on the man’s face had a grin forming on Akira’s face. Fear filled eyes landed on the barcode that was exposed with the low collared shirt. “You’re a Missing. He’s a Missing, run!” The other people of the group stopped and looked at the man who was shouting. “Run! Ru-gak!” Akira closed a hand around his neck. Everyone looked at the door as they heard sirens outside. They bolted leaving the man and Akira standing there.

“Akira!” He blinked and released the man’s neck just as the front door slammed open. Cops streamed in and they both surrounded Akira and the man. He caught sight of Rune and turned away. The man was tossed on the ground, he scrambled over to the cops and pointed at Akira.

“He tried to kill me!”

“Bullshi…” Rune was pulled back as the cops looked at them.

“Are you with him?”

“No.” One of them looked at Akira. “I’ve never seen them in my life.” His voice was cold and empty as he talked. His back was to them and he had a smirk on his face. Zev and Rune were dragged out of the club when they lost all focus on them as Akira lunged forward.

“He’s one of those missing kids.” That was enough and Akira found himself being tackled to the ground. Soon he was being dragged over to a police car. He was forced into the back of the car. Looking out the window he saw Zev standing in the alleyway. He turned away and lowered his head.

“Zev. We need to go now!”

“What about Akira?”

“Later he’ll be fine. This isn’t the first time.” Rune was turning him away and they all quickly headed away from the club. What had happened back there?
~~~~
Akira watched as a man walked in. His hands were cuffed to the chair and he let his head fall to the table. “Great, it’s you.” He could feel the pain meds kicking in.
“Well hello Akira.”
“So you’re a cop now Raith?”
“Detective. Be glad it’s me.” He sat down and looked at the brunette. “The man out there claims you tried to kill him.”
“He had a gun to my head.”
“We found that gun with your blood on it.”
“The blood will be on the barrel of the gun.”
“Right again.”
“It was self-defense, I have a hole in my hand to prove it.”
“Akira, look you’re a Missing and he’s not. You were seen holding him by the front of his shirt. He claims he didn’t hurt you that you did this to yourself. You have been placed in a…”
He growled and kicked the table, Raith didn’t even flinch. “Self inflected pain was not the reason I went there! I bet you saw my file too. How does it feel knowing you dated a crazy?”
“Look,” He stood and pulled a piece of paper out. Sliding in across the table Akira looked at it. “That is not why I’m here. Tell me why did you attack him?”
“He was going to kill me and if I didn’t act fast he was going to kill him.” Akira looked at him. “You of all people should know that I don’t attack unless I have a reason. If I was like all the others you wouldn’t have been living when I walked in that day.”
Raith chuckled and shook his head. “Okay I get it. You have more restraint then when you were a kid.” The door opened and Akira looked over. “Well this guy is part of the wolf pack your mate belongs to. He came here flashing shit and everything, said that you’re under the protection of the wolves and your punishment will be deicide by them. The next time we met let’s hope it’s at a better time.” He leaned in close to Akira and looked at him really good. “I don’t know why but you’ve been looking good lately.” He walked out of the room as another officer walked in.
“Stop hitting on me! You stupid idiot!” The cuffs were unlocked and he looked at the man by the door. “Who are you?” His hand curled over the paper crumpling it.
“The name is Karl Thomas. I’m Caden’s brother and Ulmer’s father.” The man had shoulder length golden brown hair and dark blue eyes. He was six foot six inches. His skin was a dark tan. Karl had on a nice blue button up shirt and a nice looking black jacket. His pants where dark blue jeans and his shoes old runners.
“Oh great.” He could see the resemblance.
“Zev asked me to help you out. So I think we should leave now.”
“Fine.” They walked out of the building and up to a car. The older wolf opened the back seat door for Akira and smiled as Akira gave him a wary look.
“Relax. I mean you no harm, it is considered a harsh punishment if I were to harm you. You are an Alpha’s mate.”
“I’m not use to this.” He slid into the car and waited as the man climbed into the front seat. Akira glanced at his bandaged hand and sighed, it was only the third day. Everything was going south since his cigs were stolen from him. The car started and the man looked at him through the rearview mirror.
“You think you’re not used to it know, wait till later.” The brunette blinked and sighed. Was it going to get harder for him now? He glanced at his hand and uncurled it; on the paper was a name. Fingers crushed the paper as he growled. Karl looked in the rearview mirror when he heard the growl from Akira.
