style='mso-tab-count:1'>         It could not be. It was impossible. She
was in panic because she was being chased by a man who wanted to kill her but
the one who talked had to be there to save her. That was it. He was there to
save her. Any other thing would be a bad dream or something. Maybe Bear had
called the cops to help and he had received the call but then again Bear
wouldn’t do anything that stupid since they had kidnapped a person. Maybe Snake
called them. Yes, that was more like it. There was no other reason for Danny to
be outside calling her name.

“Rachel class=GramE>are you ok?” Gabriel asked concerned.

“Not really.”

“Come on Rachel.
You can come out, no one will hurt you.” Danny tried again.

“You know the
guy?” Gabriel inquired.

“Yes. He’s
Danny, my detective boyfriend.”

“Then we’re
saved.” He said with hope.

“I don’t know.”

“Rachel, my
patience is wearing thin here. Are you coming out or not?” Danny tried once
more.

style='mso-spacerun:yes'> She crawled a bit towards the door and took a
peek through one of the spaces between the boards. Danny was standing in front
of a car, which had the lights on. On either side of him were two men, each
holding a machine gun. A little behind them were the
rest of the men, all of them holding machine guns and some even had grenades
strapped around their belts. She frowned.

“Rachel, come
on. Let’s end this.” She heard Danny said.

style='mso-spacerun:yes'> She was about to get up and try to open the
door when she saw him turn his gaze to the right. She followed his gaze and saw
two men carrying an injured one. Without much effort she saw that the man being
carried was Snake. He looked pale but seemed to be alive. She saw Danny talk to
Snake and signaling for the men carrying him to take him to car. At that point
all doubt was washed away. Danny was not there to save her. He was there to
kill her and Gabriel. Why hadn’t she realized it before? He was practically the
only one who knew about her ability with a sniper rifle. He had a sister
married to a guy named Steve Morton and they had a little girl, Carla. During
the first murder investigation he had shown her the graphic on the computer and
the red line was completely out of place. The man he caught and blamed for the
murders was the one who had killed her parents and he had access to that file.
Why had she forgotten this? Why hadn’t she put two and two together to
associate Danny to the ‘voice’? She had been so stupid. And now she needed to
get out of that house as fast as she could. Especially
because Danny was now holding a grenade launcher and seemed ready to fire it.
