Liam Beckman: Age 29. Graduated from a Union school of psychology and mental health. Worked for three years as a CEC intake counselor before being diagnosed as a carrier himself.



Soria Paik - 44 y.o. An artist, she married at 18 and had Jesse at age 19 with the husband who later abandoned her. After Jesse’s birth, she suffered an infection that left her barren. A hysterectomy was performed; this later allowed her to survive the Plague. Soria was briefly used as a test subject by the government, but was abandoned as a scientific dead-end and left to live her life. She raised Jesse nomadically, moving between various urban centers but generally living a reclusive life to avoid danger.

Grant: Age 30. A slender, dark-skinned man with shorn hair and black eyes that have a distinct angle to them.



Honesty: Age 27. Ash blonde with honey brown eyes. From a small town in Ireland, but moved to The Union as a child, when his father made good use of the War Recruitment Service and decided to move his family abroad.



Ortega Nq'taki Saloman de Garindes: Age 19. A small, almost boyish kid with curly black hair that falls, in ringlets, over his pretty brown eyes. The color in his skin is faint - a mestizo* heritage (indigenous group: Huichol). Born in the South, raised relatively close to the Mexo-American border in San Andrés, Villa Guerrero, Jalisco, by his grandparents. Registration number is 4C6BA81. Dog named Torréon.



* Mestizo means a person of mixed ancestry, but I used it here in a more general sense than it's commonly used now.



Jesse Paik: Age 25.



Sai Maka Wyatt: Age 24. Pacific Islander ex-athlete. He played andoro, a football-like war game that became popular as the war slowed and bases became riddled with bored veterans. Sai was one of the first to become a professional at the game. Sai is highly fun-loving, and a bit of a thrill-seeker. Registration number is 4C6BA87.



Sloane Scott: Age 32. Tall, with sun-browned skin, hazel eyes and brown hair speckled here and there with gray. Raised in the Florida peninsula with his father; they later moved north. His father condemned Sloane as an abomination after his change, driving his son to flee to the nearest CEC.



Suleiman: Age ?. A brown-haired mestizo with silver eyes. Born in Mexico City. Whereabouts are unaccounted for during a period of 16 years. Was rescued from the southern Indian peninsula during a major weather event and repatriated to The Union.



Vichy: Age 23. A light-brown skinned femme. Raised in the Pacific northwest, near to what was once Seattle. Engaged to Jonathan Aniston.

Awni-Ra: Age 27. Born in rural Egypt, raised in the far north of the Union. Two brothers, one of which lives in the Emirates and is a carrier. Engaged to John Killian, a weapons officer; due to be married in August of the following year.



Tiger DuCourt: Age 17. Mother died when the first plague was released on military bases; Tiger was 5. His father, Sergeant Vincent DuCourt, has raised him since. His name, Tiger, was given to him by his mother when she saw the way his dark freckles laid in two almost-perfect lines across his nose, giving them the appearance of whiskers.



Havar Samui Granger: Age 23. Born of an English father (Thomas Alden Granger) and an Egyptian mother of Turkish descent (Azime Granger). He was named after his maternal grandfather (Havar Madakbas) and the Thai island his parents were visiting when his mother found out she was pregnant (Ko Samui). He grew up in a quiet neighborhood in an area called Al-Jīzah in the northwest of Cairo. He was raised Muslim, and traveled with his father throughout the Emirates and Northern Africa before the wars worsened. He moved to the Union at age 18, where Havar was recruited into the military.



Irvine House Carriers:



Cristophe ("Cris") Jean (Miller) Irvine: Age 26. Sinclair Irvine (James Irvine's cousin)'s wife.



Andrew ("Andy") Hominy McLean: Age 37. Kenneth McLean (James Irvine's cousin)'s wife.



Cubrovic House Carriers:



Ami: Age 24. Wife of Drag, one of Miljan's cousins.



Cadet Murphy: Age 22-3. Soon-to-be wife of Bos, Miljan's head henchman.





Officers & Others:



Jonathan Milo Aniston:
"He seemed like a nice guy, had been seeing Vichy since the first week Jesse had gotten here. He was a mid-ranking officer, but accomplished in his field, and seemed kind enough, if a little dull. Vichy, however, had seemed enamored of him, at least for the first week and a half." - September: Week Three



Miljan Cubrovic: Age 35. "Miljan was a man of whom many men were afraid. His imposing build, coupled with the inscrutable stoicism of his expression and the peculiar, accented, calm way that he spoke, gave him a formidable appearance." - November 18



Staff Sergeant Vincent DuCourt: Age 44. Married once. One son, Tiger DuCourt, who recently began to express symptoms of the first stage of the Change.



James Brook Irvine: Age 29. Born into a well-off family of military men. Had three sisters (all adopted); is now an only child, as none of them survived the Plague. He was revealed, late in life, to have been fathered in secret by his uncle, as his “father”’s infertility was a source of concern for the family to which he was due to become heir. He has a number of cousins, several of whom he shares a house with: Sinclair Irvine, Walter Irvine, Kenneth McLean, Cody McLean, and Travis Laurent.



"He was large, Tega immediately noted, taller even than Clint, who had at least half a foot on Tega to begin with, and built brawlick...The guy was not unhandsome; he had refined features and a strong jaw, confident smile and deep, mellow voice. His eyes were blue. He was actually rather attractive...He had an easygoing sense of humor, and he was confident without being cocky, kind without being overbearing. He explained to Ortega that he had traveled a lot as a young man, and that as the only survivor of his siblings (all female), his father had doted on him after the plague." - October 7



Clinton Jeffries: Age 27.



Joseph ("Joey") Rudolph Jake: Age 37. Dark brown hair, tan skin, and brown eyes. He met the Admiral while serving under him; they fell in love rather early on, but neither admitted so to the other for years. During a mission to a very rural part of the South, James drunkenly (and clumsily) kissed the Admiral, who reciprocated his feelings fully. When they returned home, their ruse began.

John Killian: Age 30. Of mixed Union descent, but loudly claims Irish heritage. Befriended Yavisk when they were assigned to a mission together, and has worked hard to ingratiate himself to Miljan and his group. However, his role remains that of a working grunt; he has never been able to attain the mysterious “special status” conferred on Miljan, Yavisk, et. al.



Admiral Eric Patrick O'Connor: Age 58. Born in Virginia shortly before the start of the War. Married twice (Susan (first), Lucci (second)) before wedding Joseph Jake in a private ceremony during a mission of mercy to the South in Y53. Jake was determined to be a carrier after sudden onset of symptoms and marriage was finalized prior to returning to the north. Has four sons, no carriers: Sean Horace and Kyle Augustus by Susan, Michael Kieran and James Patrick by Lucci. To date, he has no children by Joseph Jake.

Michael Kieran O'Connor: Age 26. 3rd Heir, 2nd Estate of Admiral Eric Patrick ("E.P.") O'Connor. Stepfather: Joseph Jake O'Connor.



Bos Yagovich: Age 40. Miljan's most trusted guard.



Drag: Age 37. Miljan's cousin.



Anton Yavisk: Age 34. Blue eyes.
