His body froze. A rain drop hit his face and then another, followed by the down pour. His body was soaked in the first few seconds. Mitch was standing in front of him, writing faded from the air as Zev flew back and slammed into some crates. He watched as Mitch dropped to his knees clutching his arm. “Fuck, last time I do that.”

“What was…” His body stiffened as a clap of thunder followed.

“Akira, you have to knock out Zev.” Looking at him he grabbed the front of his shirt, “Focus! You can do it. Get over this and knock him out, if you don’t I’ll do it and I doubt he’ll survive.”

Akira growled and punched him. “Don’t you even think about it!” He saw the blood soaking through his shirt and stopped. “Mitch…”

“I’m fine!” They both looked over to see the wolf stand and he flinched when the lightning flashed. “You’re the smallest thing out here, it won’t hit you.” He smirked when Akira glared at him. “Don’t use your spear.”

“I know.”

“Stop flinching!”

He stood in a fighting stance fists raised and feet apart. ‘I can’t stop shaking.’

“Why are you afraid of storms?”

The smoke rose in the air as Akira exhaled. He turned his head and looked at Zev. The snow was falling again. “I don’t know, always have been.”

“Oh… what do you do?”

He shrugged. “Maria said I use to hide in the closet.”

“Oh…” Zev scooted closer and made Akira jump when his head fell into his lap. “You want me to come over when it’s storming?

Akira glanced down at him and then ran his hand through his hair. “Do what you want?”

His hand reached up and pulled Akira down into a kiss, “I’ll keep you distracted.” He blushed as Zev grinned and then pulled away. His head turned and Zev chuckled.

“Thanks.”

Zev was running at him again and Akira growled. “Fucking……” His fist connected with the side of the muzzle, “stupid dog!”

Mitch smirked and watched as Akira tossed the cigarette to the ground. “Hmmm, this might get good.” He looked over to see a male and female looking out at them. He waved and they took off running into the rain and out of the area. ‘How long till the cops get here?’

There was a yelp and he looked over to see Akira had pinned the wolf. Claws dug into his arms as he held him down. “Zev… please wake up.” He winced at the sharp pains, his head lowered and rested against his neck. “Sorry.” His eyes widened when he felt it. Pain? Glancing at Zev’s left shoulder he got an idea. He punched the wound and the wolf barred it teeth.

The brunette grabbed his muzzle and stared him in the eyes. He fingers dug into the bullet wound and Zev yelped out and whined. The emotion he felt was getting stronger.

“Too much pain will sometimes cause a werewolf to shift back.” Akira looked up from the picture, “Your target is a werewolf that won’t shift back till it’s exhausted.”

“If you’re here to pick me up, Raith, keep walking.”

“I’m not. Just want to see how you’re doing.”

“Fine, I’ve found someone that is better then you.”

“Well that’s good.” He flopped in the chair and the two glared at each other. “What’s he like?”

“A wolf.”

“Really you wouldn’t even let Ransom touch you and you’re sleeping with a werewolf?”

“That’s none of your concern, last I checked you were sleeping behind everyone’s back.” Akira went back to looking at the file in his hand.

“Now I’m not I’ve finally settled.” He leaned over and went to touch Akira’s head, it was smacked away. “Alright I get it.”

“Tell me more about wolves. I don’t know much.”

“Well…” he looked at Akira. “What do I get out of it?”

“I’ll treat you to lunch.”

“How about a kiss?”

“I’d rather kiss a girl then kiss you.”

“Touché. Fine I’ll take the lunch.” Raith sat back and looked at him. “Pain and exhaustion will make them revert back to their human forms.” He quickly reached over and pulled the collar of his shirt to the side. “And no matter how crazy their minds get, they can tell which one is their mate. They will seek them out to find them; if that mate is injured they will track down and kill whatever hurt them, without even thinking twice about it.”

Akira sat the paper down and he sigh. “Where do you want to eat?”

“Same as always. You do remember right?”

“Yeah yeah.”

Akira winced as Zev’s grip tightened on his arms. His grip on the wound only tightened. The left arm was starting to lose its grip on Akira’s arm. He watched as Zev’s whole body slowly shifted back and then his grip slackened and those arms fell to the ground. Sitting back he stared at the wolf and smiled. His hair was plastered to his face. Leaning down he brushed some strands away from his face, “I’m sorry I did that.”

There was a flash of light and Akira was looking up at Zev, a hand around his neck. He didn’t move as that hand twitched, “Akira!” His eyes weren’t bright anymore, they were a dull and dark sky blue.

One hand raised and touched Zev’s hand that was around his throat. He smiled. His arm was finally going numb, the blood loss was finally taking its toll on him. The other hand reached up and pulled Zev, his face was buried against his neck. Zev’s pupils went back to normal and his eyes widened as Akira’s arm slid off his back. The slim body flinched as the thunder rumbled. “Akira…?”

“I’m fine… just sleepy.” His body shook as he looked at Akira’s battered body. The scratches and marks that were here and there.

He pulled Akira close to his body and held onto him. “…Sorry.”

“You didn’t do this.”

“What if you’re lying to make me feel better?”

“Zev…” Eyes opened and he smiled. “I want to go home with you.”

“Why?”

“Later… home.”

Mitch walked over his hand on his side. “We need to get out of here.”

“Mitch… what happened to you?”

“Uh… one of the rouges got me.”

“My clothes I was wearing are in there. What if they find them?”

“That one is easy, you and Ryder were held hostage and got out.”

“But…” He pointed at the ground. “The blood from me and Akira.”

“The rain will wash it away. Let’s go.” Zev stood and Akira laid there shivering. Akira glanced over at Zev and quickly turned away. The shifter clothes were wet and he weakly shook his head as he tried to get rid of the thoughts.

“Akira?”

“Mitch I think we might need some clothes for him.”

“Akira we can’t…”

“Get his damn clothes!”

“Fine fine… There’s a dry spot over there.”

The wolf helped him to his feet and they made it over to the dry spot Mitch pointed out. “Zev.”

“Yes.”

The emotions coming from the wolf was making him dizzy, “Stop it.”

“Sorry…” There was a bright flash of light and Akira jumped when there was a loud clap of thunder. “You okay?”

“No.” He shifted Akira in his arms as they sat and held him close to his body. “I hate storms and I’m all wet.”

His head fell back and he started breathing heavily. “Akira?”

“I’m fin… shit why is everything spinning.”

“You’re not fine. How long have you been bleeding?”

“I don’t know.” His head shifted to the side and his hand weakly gripped Zev’s. “I was jumped by two waves of wolves.”

His head rolled to the side and Zev shifted his body. “Akira!” Gray eyes watched him and he smiled.

“Sleepy… I’m fine… sleepy…” he let his head fall against his chest and his eyes drifted shut. “Wake me when we get home.”

“Okay.”

There was a loud boom and he jerked awake. Looking around a smell reached his nose. He was in the living room on the couch. His foot moved to step on the floor when he saw Zev. He was curled up on the floor next to the couch. Sliding off, he dropped to his knees and blew into Zev’s ear.

The wolf jerked awake and looked at him. “Akira!” His face was red and he was clutching his ear.

“Morning.”

“Uh…” He looked away. “Morning.”

Akira lifted his arm and laid up against him, he let Zev’s arm fall down around him. “You’re still worried.”

“I could of…”

“But you didn’t.”

“You’re not going to let me sulk are you?”

“Depends, will you let me hideaway in my tree whenever I have to kill someone?”

“I get it! Jeez!”

“Good.”

They laid there till Marianela walked into the room. She smiled and asked, “Hungry?”

The lights went out and a loud clap of thunder had him jumping. Zev wrapped his arm around the shaking body. “Marianela can you bring the food upstairs.”

“Okay.”

He picked Akira up and made his way up the stairs. Entering Akira’s room he found it empty and sat him on the bed. Reaching over he closed the blinds and it was dark with only what little light was able to shine through the clouds that morning. The room would be lit up by lightning and Akira’s whole body would flinch as the loud sound followed after. The blanket was wrapped around him and Zev.

He had half his face buried in the blanket. When the door opened, Marianela walked in with a bowl and candles. Sitting them down, she lit them and looked at the two. “Don’t you look comfy.”

Akira looked away and managed to bury his face further in the blanket. She smiled and walked over. Grabbing his hands she placed the bowl in them. “It’s not just the storm is it.”

Zev looked down at him as Akira shook his head.

“You never look me in the eyes when you come back from a target. Eat something. Zev make sure he eats something. The storm is going to last all day.” She walked over to the door and looked back in. “I’ll tell Daisuke you’ll be in here for most of the day.” The door closed and he looked down at the bowl.

His grip tightened on the bowl and Zev covered his hands. “Zev, I don’t want this to keep going on.”

His heart stopped, “Huh?”

“Relax I’m talking about me not us.” He took a look over his shoulder at the wolf. “I want to stop this but I need the money.”

“Then stop.” His hand reached up and he moved Akira’s head till it was laying against his chest. Zev was calm even with the loud thunder and flashing lightning his body stayed calm. Akira’s body relaxed and he smiled. “You should eat that before it gets cold.”

“Yeah.” He slowly ate the food and tried not to jump as he ate.

“You’ve stopped jumping.”

“I’m trying not to spill it.” The next roar of thunder had the window panes shaking. The wolf slipped his hand under the bowl and his other arm wrapped around Akira’s waist. The brunette’s whole body was stiff and tensed.

“Relax.” His hand gently ran over his stomach and Akira found himself relaxing. “I’ll hold it. I’m afraid you’ll drop it all over us.”

“Ha-ha.” He muttered under his breath.

“You slept through the worst part. Marianela made me take a shower because I smelt like a wet dog.”

“You do smell like a wet dog.” He made a face at the back of Akira’s head.

The bowl was half empty when Zev looked down. “Damn you eat fast.”

“Shut up.” He snatched the bowl from Zev’s hand. They both grew quiet as he finished off the rest of the food. “I’m done.”

He looked over his shoulder as he moved over to set it on the side table. “You do eat fast.”

“Shut up.”

Akira leaned back against Zev. “Akira.”

“Yeah”

“I didn’t… did I?”

“No you didn’t.” Zev ran a finger over the cut on his cheek. He moved over and licked it. The brunette jumped and moved away, “Damn it what did I say about…” His fingers gripped Akira’s jaw and he looked at him. “What is with you and licking me?”

“Hold still.”

“Why?”

He sniffed him and then moved his shirt over. Akira tried to slip away but was stopped as his body was pushed onto the bed. “Hold still.”

“No!” His feet pushed against Zev’s chest. “Don’t look!”

“Why not?”

“Don’t look!” The thunder rumbled and Akira froze. Zev quickly grabbed the collar of the shirt and stopped as he found the fading mark.

“What is that?”

Akira reacted and shoved Zev off of himself. “It’s nothing.” He looked away, “I… I fell against something the other day.”

“You’re lying.”

“No I’m not.”

“Then look at me and say it to my face.”

He looked at the wolf and then looked away, “You might regret it.” It hurt, he gripped his shoulder and turned around.

“What do you mean?”

“I found it the day after the full moon.”


Marianela looked up as she heard a faint hum. “Lights are working!”

Ransom walked up and grinned, “Daisuke is a damn good fixer.”

“It’s nothing bad same thing happens back at the cabin.”

She looked out the window, “Looks like the worst of it passed.”

“It’s still raining though.” Daisuke was closing the tool box now as he looked over at her. “It’s quite cozy here.”

“We haven’t left for a reason.” The blond smiled as Ransom hugged her.

There was a loud clatter as Akira walked down the stairs. They looked at him, “I’m going for a run.” He pulled his shoes on and ran out the back door.

“What’s going on?”

Zev walked down he was rubbing the back off his head. “Zev what’s up?”

“Nothing.” He grabbed his jacket and looked at them. “I’ve got to go tell dad what happened.” The front door closed and he was gone.

“Akira is going for a run and Zev isn’t going with him.” Ransom nodded, “It’s another fight.”

“Not a fight.” They looked at Marianela. “Akira runs when something is bothering him. Something to do with Zev.”

Akira looked up at the clouds. It looked like it was going to rain soon. He frowned and sighed, “What was I thinking running out when another storm might start.” He had jumped the fence in the back yard and start running through the small woods. If he kept going straight he would hit the main road between this city and the next. Standing, he walked on. Maybe he could go out to the cabin. It would take him some time but he’ll make it. If the next storm didn’t hit.

He shivered. Why was he cold? The shirt and pants he wore was the only thing keeping him warm. Sighing he kept walking. Another sign, he was getting too used to having Zev nearby. He stopped and looked at his feet. The shoes were wet and muddy. What was wrong with him why did he run out when he said that?

He growled and shouted, “They were only words why am I running away!?”

“Akira?”

He jumped and looked up to see Hawk. She floated down to him, “What are you doing over here?”

“I was on my way to find you and your dad said you went running.”

“Oh… what is it?”

“Oh yeah here.” She opened her bag and pulled a folded paper out. “It’s from Davion.”

He unfolded it and then crumpled it up. “No!” she followed after him.

“What did it say?”

“Nothing.”

Hawk floated in front of him. “Stop! What is wrong with you?”

“Nothing.” He kept walking and she frowned as she followed after. “Stop following me!”

“No!”

“Fine, do whatever you want.”

She followed after Akira and they both made it to the side of the road. He turned in a circle looking around. “Shit this would be easier if the sun was out!”

“Then let’s go home. It’s going to rain soon.”

Akira looked at her and then started to walk, the road was on his right. They came to a sign and he looked at it. Frowning he growled as he muttered something dark under his breath. Sitting down he sighed. “I give up!” He leaned back against the sign. “This is fucking stupid!”

“What is?”

“Feelings emotions and all the crap that comes with them.” He rested his head on his knees. “I can’t keep up. I’m lost and falling behind him.”

“What happened?” She sat on his shoulder and he looked at her. “I promise not to say a word to anyone about what you’re going to say.”

“Zev said he didn’t want to do something because he…” His face went red and her eyes went wide.

“He said it to you, didn’t he! Oh then why are you out here you should be with him.”

“I left.”

“The first time hearing it?”

“No. I’ve heard it plenty of times. Maybe that’s why I ran.”

“My my Akira you’re a weird one.” She looked at her feet and smiled. “I wish a guy would tell me he loved me. Do you love him?”

He didn’t look at her but she saw the red tint on his cheeks get darker. “Yeah. I… he…” His face went red and she smiled. “He picked me.”

“Picked?”

His hand rubbed his left shoulder, “A wolf picks one person in their whole life time. He picked me. At first I was pissed because after this mark disappears another one will show up, but now… I can’t wait to see it.” The wind picked up and then a fat drop of rain smacked him on the forehead. They looked up at the dark clouds and he stood. “Now to get back.”

“Before we get wet!” She sat closer to his head to keep the wind from blowing her off his shoulder. They walked back down the road. Hawk looked at him and then she jumped a little when there was a loud clap of thunder. “Oh wow that caught me off guard.” He wasn’t moving. “Akira?”

“I’m…I’m okay…” He started to walk again. She pulled on his hair and he looked at her. “Yeah.”

“You missed your turned.” He looked at the forest and he shook his head.

“I’ll stay on the road.”

“You sure.”

“Yeah.” He walked forward they hadn’t gotten far when the rain started to fall heavier.

“Akira?”

“Yeah…”

“You’re shaking. Let’s go through the woods.” Akira then turned and he walked into the woods. His pace started to lengthen as the thunder got louder. There was a loud crack and he slid to a stop before a branch hit them both. They looked at it and he swallowed. “Akira…”

“I’m fine.” He climbed over the log and he shook his head. ‘Focus.’ His body reacted when a bolt struck the tree near them. He froze and didn’t move, the he bolted. Hawk was floating now as she followed him.

‘Where is he going?' “Akira! Slow down or you might…” He jumped over a fallen log and disappeared. “Akira!”

She shot down after him into the small hole. He was laying at the bottom. “Akira!” When he didn’t respond she looked around. The sides were too slick and the hole to small for his wings. With the rate of the rain fall it will start to fill soon. “Akira! If you can hear me tell me!” He opened an eye and looked at her, “Good I’m going to get help. I’ll be right back.”

As she floated back up he weakly reached up and whimpered as all his wounds protested to the movement. “Wait… back…” His hand fell down and he watched the tree covered sky. He could feel water collecting around him as he tried to sit up. ‘Zev…’ Akira stood and leaned against the dirt wall. His right leg was bleeding again, the blood soaking through his pant leg. Limping over, he gripped the wall and tried to climb up. He was almost there when his fingers slipped and he fell back down again.

“Shit!” He looked at the water it wasn’t too deep, yet. His feet were getting wet but at this pace he should be okay. “Fuck.” If he stretched his arms out, he could touch the walls. “No room for my wings.” He was stuck. There was a loud boom and he was on the ground covering his head. “Just noise. Just noise.” He was shaking again. ‘Zev… help!’

Zev stopped dead in his tracks as he looked back over his shoulder. What was going on? He turned and walked into his house.

“Hello.” He could hear his mom on the phone, she turned to look at him. “Yeah he just walked in.”

“What is it?”

“Marianela wants to know what happened between you and Akira. Is everything alright?”

“Yeah. Where’s dad?”

“He’s out talking to the scouts and trying to find out what happened last night.”

“Oh…” His vision swam and he shook his head. Walking forward he stumbled and dropped to his knees.

“Zev!” Dawn was next to him the phone tucked between her ear and shoulder. “Hey, are you okay?”

“Yeah just dizzy.”

She placed her hand against his forehead and her brows wrinkled. “You sure?”

“Yeah.” He slowly stood up and leaned against the wall.

The next words he heard were, “He’s where!?” He looked at the phone.

His mom asked, “Marianela, what’s wrong?”

“Hawk just got here, she said Akira’s stuck in a hole out in this hell of a storm.” Dawn turned just in time to see Zev run out the front door.

“Zev!”

I don’t know what’s with me but I think I like to put Akira and Zev through hell… a lot. Is that bad? Hmmm? Reviews are welcomed.
