Greetings and Hello Again from the dark little mind that I call moi.

If you have my newsletter/updates, you know that I am out flogging “Tentacles for the Brides Bouquet” for publishing. You also know that I decided to change the title to “Heart of a Satyr”. [blatent plug here: to join just e-mail me at kiix@hotmail.com and write “kiix me” in the subject]

Based on fan suggestions I googled ‘dark romance’ and low and behold I found more publishers. Some e-books, some print. Some want to pay cash. Cash is good. So I read the sites, followed the submission guidelines and had to work at creating a summary of the story. I have the summary listed below:

Weretiger Green, Satyr Gold

Demons live in the modern world along side us. Not as many nor as varied as in the days gone past but they are still there. Some are doctors. Some are police. Some are international financiers. Some are slaves to human predators who know that demons exist.

Then there is Walter Simpson, who is just trying to cope with the day to day living of being a disappointing son to his mother while trying to get through college on a scholarship as a medicated lunatic when his whole world tilted on its axis. The night terrors have had plagued him since puberty turn out to be real creatures who’s only desire is to engage in intercourse. His feelings of societal alienation turn out to be another truth because he isn’t human. His mother hated and treated him like a filthy animal because he was a demon – a weretiger and Satyr cross. His mismatched eyes foretold his mixed heritage.

Gan Antioch is Lord of the Satyr and the last of the royal line. His specialty is sexual fantasy and fertility. He sells his service to human kind (seman) at a tidy profit. However, the Satyr Nation is in decline. No new Saytr’s have been born in thirty years and everyone is concerned. The Satyr has the ability to self-generate. They carry their young to term then the young Satyr rips it’s way out of the womb killing the parent. The common Satyr that are known throughout the world from Greek pottery only have a thirty-five to forty year fertility window and times are getting desperate. All attempts at procreation have failed except for one joining with a weretiger on a night of high fertility. Walter was born looking human so it was decided that a human would raise him, much to his psychological detriment.

Walter has to cope with learning that he isn’t human; that he never was human while learning a new world. He has to learn how to be a weretiger, but he is more than that. He is part Satyr, part of the royal line. He is a sexual creature. He is a sensual creature. He has the sex drive of an adolescent Satyr and the capability of self-generation. Walter slowly begins to find everything that he has been denied as a human; compassion; belonging; trust and love. But is it real? Everyone around him has unseen motives including Gan. Everyone sees him as…

Now, I got some assistance from the Loyal on re-wording a bit and sent of my offering to Exctasy Books then crossed my fingers, my toes, my eyes, my legs…you get the picture. I received an e-mail response within 5 days saying that my submission was received. Yeah! First hurdle over!! The editor-in-chief (EIC) replied that my submission would be looked at within two weeks and voila!! I got a response.

Hello, Kiix.

My name is Jay Austin and I am the EIC for eXtasy books. Your writing is good, the plot is interesting and the book has potential, but there are two issues in the path of its publication at this moment. The reason your story is being called "too dark" is because-

1-underage sex-consensual or forced, dream or fantasy, it is still a
minor having sex.

2-rape-good light or bad, dream or fantasy, it is rape.

Both of these are in practically every publishers no-no guidelines. At
this moment, I cannot think of any publisher that might take it on who
would not run risk of being attacked or even shut down for such a
controversial aspect.

Now, if the person having sex were 18 and the sex were consensual or
even forced seduction, not rape, that went a little farther than the
person originally agreed, then I would be very happy to re-look at Heart of a Satyr.

If you do not wish to make any changes, your options are continue to
seek a publisher with the bravado to run the gambit or self-publishing.

Okay, it’s not here’s come cash for your masterpiece. It’s also not, get the hell away from me you pervert. So…the question is, how much rape is there in the story? Can I lose the first two chapters? Can I alter the first two chapters? I can change the minions arrival to 21 – Walter is an adolescent were after all, so that could mean his sexuality was delayed as well. Gah….decisions, decisions. Unaltered situations can be posted on sites such as adultfanfiction,net but if I want to see my alter-ego up in print…I’m going to have to suck it up. How much to suck, I don’t know yet. I might not be good at sucking. [minds out of the gutter if you please.]

Still…can you give them (publishers) what they want and still keep it your (mine) story?

This is a new experiment for me…then again, it’s just like work. Your boss doesn’t like it, you change it. AAAArrrrggghhh. Being an artist is sooooo hard.
