The flight back was a little a little more calming than the flight out. They had a public plane again, which was a good thing because the other alphas who saw Blane all wanted to talk to hime about Alex or hes da or he's project or he's interview on television. Everyone wanted to natter at Blane and obviously it got on Blane's nerves.

Public flights were filled with normal people, common folk who might have seen the interview with Blane but hadn't the courage to approach a strange alpha. Their leaving the city was sudden to day the least, a bell hop had shown up to inform them that their car to the airport had arrived. Ten minutes to pack and in the end their suitcases were overstuffed, bulging and nothing had really been folded or stashed properly.

Stepping off the plane, Alex was crabby but he tried to keep himself upright to collect the bags. He had been hoping to sitesee, to perhaps buy a souvenirs or two, if he found something he really wanted Blane to buy.

Instead there was nothing, it made him crabby and growl as he shuffled up to the baggage carousel and waited for his bag, or more of Blane's bag to come out. Glaring at the moving belt, he turned his glare to the asshole who dared to step up beside him.

"Come here often?" Jaime asked with a grin.

"You!" Alex said, hugging Jaime for a moment before he pulled back and gave the man a smack to the shoulder, shaking a finger in Jaime's face.

Jaime took Alex's hand gently, "not here, not now, little one."

To which Alex turned his glare back to the moving belt, "hardly got to have fun at all and it was all about hes conference and hes meeting with Paul and hes shopping for clothing for me to wear. Only fun hi offered me was to go to a stuffed animalnplace and we changed it to a candy store and I still didn't get to go and then we got kicked out so fast. And hi's got a problem with how I'm breaking because goodness, that's not supposed to happen like that."

"No fun?" Jaime asked, sounding surprised, "that's unusual for an alpha but I suppose Blane didn't exactly have the money and with recent events hi didn't have the time either. Good timing for hes reputation, bad for your fun."

"Commoners attacking alphas, what's next? It's not like the alphas are harming the comminers even."

"Alphas have a good deal of wealth that they only share if it is in thyre personality and then in certain manner. Thy get tax discounts by doing charity work but few enough of thyme are willing to serve soup to homeless or pay for the health care of the downtrodden. Thy pay just enough to get out of taxes, that is all."

"This existed long before I came into the world of alphas and will continue to exist long after I die," Alex grumbled, reciting what he knew others had been thinking but too afraid to tell the A compsnion of an alpha who had a cure all potion, "complaining about it won't change the facts nor will it put me in a better position to understand the facts because heaven forbid I have a feeling about something because companions and husbandwives are no more human than alphas."

"Exactly."

"Except it's that creation versus evolution argument all over again!" Alex snapped, lowering his voice when he saw uneasy common people shift away from him, "the only thing that would provr to these people that we're all human would be to subject an alpha to genetic testing and that's just ridiculous. My genetics are on file for all the world to see, I am an R66 and G14 carrier or however those numbers go but I am still human. Hi is still human."

"It's nice to see that the two of you are bonding. Perhaps some time away was just what you both needed. There's the suitcase."

"Why am I the one getting this?" Alex grumbled even as he pulled it off the moving belt and Jaime reached for the other one.

"Because our alphas are talking about something and after a call from Paul I figured I'd best take the time to talk to you myself."

"What did Paul say?"

"Debt paid. Are you alright Alex?"

"I was breaking and hi drugged me. Blane wasn't happy about it."

"Oh?"

"What does Paul to those hi acquires at auctions, the ones hi puts on stage?" Alex asked before Jaime could get over the surprise of hearing that Paul had drugged him, as if that fact were surprising.

"Alphas sometimes enjoy ... fantasies, ones that long ago thy relished in to show those thy conquered who was in charge."

"So rape."

"Apparent rape. Some of those young men volunteer, Alex."

"But some are raped."

"...most..." Jaime said hesitantly, "why are you so interested in this Alex? Did Blane not allow you to watch the show? I've always found it frightening, how alphas and husbandwives, or companions, all seem to react the same way during those performances. Both just sit in utter rapture."

"Blane wouldn't let me watch, on account of who it was," Alex responded, snapping out the handle of the suitcase so he could roll it along behind him.

"Someone you used to know?"

"Casey."

"Oh, dear God. Hi didn't."

"Hi did," Alex responded, this time understanding the surprise that played over Jaime's features, "said the government tried to detain Casey?"

"Something's been going on with the auctions, I don't concern myself with them however, as it has no importance in my life. I have heard that they might shut down the alpha auctions, something about it being likd slavery but one hand and the other and those with your genetic markers bring little more than possessions, it seems silly."

"It does," Alex responded, "unless they're genetically testing everyone to ensure all the ... ehm... product... are actually husbandwife material."

"That would make sense, and yet is frightening at the same time."

"Mm, wouldn't want real boys sold at auction."

"Alphas deal in men, not boys." Jaime responded as they came up on their alphas, "Ezra and Paul won't tell evrn me what thy did with the last alpha who expressed interest in anyone underage beyond the traditions."

"Even the traditions make me squirm," Ezra said, focusing in Jaime, "come along, the car and dinner await us."

"I think I'd like to talk more to Alex," Jaime said in a tone.

"He's upright, Jaime," Ezra countered, "I'm sure he's fine, unlike myself, should I be late to Quinn's aniversary dinner."

"Of course I'm fine!" Alex snapped, glaring at Jaime.

"But paying a debt-"

"I didn't pay thr debt, Blane did!" Alex snapped before he marched off muttering under his breath as he went, "morons, we're going to be late for dinner and I'm hungry."
