Rating: Kissing nothing bad.
A/N: Heh I’m soooo close to the good chapters. Woohoo! Man I’ll be typing a lot I might update again this weekend on this story since I can’t do anything else but type… got my wisdoms pulled out. Yay! Ouch…… I can’t eat my fav foods till I’m healed, and I ran into every wall because everything decided to tilt at the last second. I’m going to have a nice one on my arm from the door handle.

Zev grinned as he walked faster. Today was a good day. Yes a very good day. He walked into the room and stopped when he saw his mother on the couch with Liv and Chaim. The two babies were laughing and giggling when he walked over and asked, “What’s so funny?”
“I’m just playing a game with them.”
“What game?” Little Chaim looked up at Zev. A big grin appeared on his face and he waved his arms.
“Peek-a-boo.”
The wolf smiled and leaned over the back of the couch, “really?” His arms reached out and Chaim’s little hands grabbed his fingers.
“Yes.” She pointed at Chaim. “See he’s taken a liking to his big brother.”
“They all do until they grow up.” He muttered under his breath and Dawn smiled at him.
“Well you and your brother are complete opposites and yet the same.”
“You love confusing me don’t you?”
“Yes you have such a cute face too!”
“Mom!”
“How Akira doing? He hasn’t been around lately.”
“He’s busy.” ‘More like locked his self up.’ She looked at the pouting wolf.
“Zev.”
“Hmmm…?” Dawn pointed and he looked over. A grin crossed his face and pulled his hands from Chaim. “Akira!” He was going to hug the male when Akira’s hand appeared in his face. “What is it?”
“Nothing.”
“How did it go Akira?” Akira nodded to Dawn and he shrugged. “I see, well he’ll find out what going on. Caden has his ways of finding things out.”
“What’s going on?”
“It’s noting Zev.” He grabbed his arm and pulled him along. “I’m taking him hostage for the day.”
“Wha- wait! What’s going on!?”
“Okay have fun you two!”
~~~
Zev stood looking at the building in front of him, his mouth hung open. He was talking to him about some random thing when they had finally stopped. The brunette looked at him and then pushed his mouth closed. “Don’t say a word. No matter what happens, got it? I need a job and this is the only place left standing.”
“Depends on what happens.”
“Fine.” He pointed at a sign on the side of the building and Zev looked. His eye twitched, “No dog allowed. So I’ll see you in a few minutes.”
“Fine I’ll keep quiet.”
“Good, cause I don’t need you pissing off the wrong person.” He glanced over his shoulder. “Oh and don’t look anyone in the eye.”
The wolf frowned and followed after, ‘What the hell?’
Akira pushed the door opened and walked in; a bell went off above his and Zev’s head. It was quiet as they looked at them and he made his way over to a reception area with glass wrapping around it. The woman looked at him and then Zev, she smiled at Zev and Akira shifted to get her view back on him. Her smile vanished as Akira’s head appeared in her line of vision. “Can I help you?”
“Stop gawking long enough and I’ll ask for it.”
“Akira you really don’t have to get mad about every little… ehhh…” Dark stormy gray eyes turned to him and he sweated as he chuckled nervously. ‘Shutting up.’
When the male turned around he sighed. His eyes roamed around the inside of the building. It was lit up well enough yet he still got a creepy feeling standing there. There were tables scattered around the area and people were sitting at them. Some had groups around them other had only one person. The place looked like it old dime store of some kind that was changed into a dinner/hang out type of building.
The outside of the building was just like the inside it just stuck out somehow, it also didn’t help that the window had a big sign plastered to the window. ‘Bounty Hunters need a job? Jobs available inside.’ It was made of brick outside and had half wooden and half plaster walls on the inside. The floors were tiled and there was a serving area with food and drinks. Akira could have told him that they were going to look for a job for him, but something was off.
“What kind are ya looking for?”
“I don’t care I need money to buy food. It’s my turn to pay the food bill or I’ll be off doing something else and not talking to you.”
“Sure let me check, while you’re waiting why don’t you go have a seat?”
The two stared at each other and Akira turned, he walked off. Zev glanced at the woman, who waved at him and smiled, and then he quickly followed after Akira. That would explain why he was in a foul mood all of a sudden. A chuckle escaped him as a thought crossed his mind, Akira probably got jealous.
The brunette came to a dead stop and he had to catch himself before he tripped over Akira. He looked at the back of his head and Akira quickly turned around. His face was blank as he walked past him. ‘Ah, did he hear me?’
“Akira, is that you!?” A silver blur shot past him and tackled Akira. “It is you!” He whipped around and found a silver haired male had Akira pinned to the floor. His eye twitched and he coughed. The brunette looked at Zev as he tried to push the silver haired male off. Walking over he picked the two up and placed them both down on their feet.
Zev looked over his shoulder when Akira slipped behind him and glared at the very bubbly male. “Akira… who is he?”
“Hi! I’m Aron!” He quickly shook Zev’s hand and started rocking on his feet. “So why is Akira over here and not getting his work the other way?”
“I need money. The next time you jump on me it will be your last.”
“You say that all the time.”
“I mean it this time.” He didn’t move from his spot as Aron stood rocking on his feet. Aron was six foot and had an easy going attitude. His eyes were a green color and bright. His green shirt had weird symbols on it and his shorts were cargos. A hoodie was tied around his waist and you could see a short sword strapped on his back.
“How do you two know each other? I mean your complete opposites.”
“Class project.”
“We were…” Akira’s staff came down on his head and the silver haired male dropped to his knees clutching his head. “Owwwwwwww…… Why?”
“Don’t go spouting lies!”
“You’re just in denial.” The male pouted and Akira’s hand twitched. Zev grabbed his arm and sighed when the brunette relaxed.
“Damn it.”
“Oi, brunette with the cute wolf, I’ve got your target!” He muttered something and Zev sighed.
~~~~
A growl came from Akira as he walked down the alleyway. “Akira did you really have to go that far?”
“Keep walking!”
“But…”
“If he is following I swear I’m going to brain him with a brick.”
The wolf sighed and followed after Akira; he gave a thoughtful look and caught up with him. “Hey can I try something to get him to stop following?”
He had stopped to look at him. “Like what?”
“This.” The brunette found his body pushed against the wall and Zev’s mouth had claimed his. His body reacted to the kiss and he gave a low moan. It had been a while since him and Zev had been together, the other night had been the first since they got back home. He started to kiss back and his hands found and tangled in Zev’s hair. He pulled back a little and chuckled, “Damn Akira it’s only been a week.”
He grunted out, “Shut up.” Then Akira pulled him back into another deep kiss.
Aron pouted and sighed, well he tried. He walked off with his hands in his pockets and then stopped. Pulling out a pack of cigarettes, he pulled one out and lit it. “Well I got to see him one last time!” The silver haired male walked off his hands in his pockets and a grin on his face. “He sure as hell hasn’t changed much!”
~~~~
Akira looked at the picture and then at the now unconscious person on the ground. “Is that really him?”
“Yeah. I think she gave me a small fry on purpose.” He looked at Zev and folded the paper. Tucking it back into the pocket inside his coat, he pulled out his tin case.
“Now you pull one out.”
“Get the body.” Walking off, he pulled one out and placed the closed tin back in its place. His lighter clicked and clicked and clicked. He frowned, when it clicked again he growled. Shaking the lighter as he cursed, “Fucking piece of shit is empty.”
“Maybe you’ll quite now.” Zev was standing next to him as he glanced up at the wolf.
“Fuck.” He tossed it on the ground and quickly made his way to the drop off point. Sighing, Zev followed after him.
The bell above the door rang as he walked in. The woman behind the counter saw him and she sighed and shook her head. Before he got to the register she had a new lighter sitting out and he handed her the money. “You should quit.”
“You’re the third to say that and it hasn’t made me stop.”
“Well have fun.” He waved his hand and walked out of the store, the lighter clicked. A flame sprung forth and lit the cigarette. The wolf shook his head and walked over to him.
“Happy now?”
“Yes.” A thin stream of smoke came from him as he walked down the side walk.
“How much do you have left?”
“Enough for Maria to get food for the next month.”
“That target didn’t get you much did it?”
“No… as much as I’d hate to say this but if push comes to shove I might just go back to the Under…”
“No!” He turned and looked at Zev.
Akira smiled and sighed. “You’re just like Maria.” His hands slipped into the pockets of the coat he was wearing and he turned away.
“No, I’ve seen the recordings of the first one.” He stopped and looked at him. “Nina found them one day and she showed me.” Sky blue eyes watched as Akira looked at the ground and then turned away. “I don’t want to see that. I don’t want to see what you look like after words.”
He started to walk away and Zev quickly followed after him. “Akira, please tell me you won’t go back. If you need help just ask!”
When Akira tried to run off Zev snagged him arm. The wolf caught his fist before it hit him and sighed, “Don’t ask me to do the impossible.”
“It’s not impossible.”
“For me it is.” He pulled away and walked off.
Zev stood there confused and then he ran after him, ‘What the hell was he talking about?’
Mitch looked up as the front door opened and then slammed shut, he saw Akira walk by. There was another slam of a door and he sighed. What did the wolf do now? He stood and walked over to the front door. Opening it, he found Zev ready to walk in. Step outside he closed the door and looked at him. “What’s up?”
“Nothing.”
“Okay. So why does Akira look like he’s going to strangle someone?”
“I asked him not to do the underground fighting. If he needs the help why can’t he just ask?”
“I see.” Sitting down he looked up at the wolf. “That is your first mistake.”
“How?”
“Akira won’t acknowledge help of any kind if he can argue about it. Well except for when Marianela yells at him to take it.” He smiled. “You know how hard it was to get him to live in this house and not some cheap apartment that is about to cave in. Once he graduated he told me he could pay for his own place. If Marianela hadn’t started to shout and scream about not having her own room and not living somewhere close to her school, he would have gotten one.”
Zev hung his head, “Damn it way is it so hard with him!”
“Akira is just like that. One reason is that he went out with this one person.” He had the dark haired wolf’s attention. “This guy was one to hold things above Akira’s head just to keep him from coming home. He helped Akira out by paying the rest of the bill on a gift for Maria, because he miss counted and was short on money. So the guy helped him pay for the gift. Akira being who he is told him he would pay him back.” The brunette sighed and shook his head. “The guy used that to his advantage, a way to keep Akira close to him.”
“Then why didn’t he leave him.”
“Because he was a dick.” They both look at the door to see Marianela. “He thought Yuki was cheating on him with Jett.”
“But Jett was going out with me at the time. Plus Akira and Jett are best friends.” The wolf sat down on the bottom step and muttered something. “Don’t worry about it. He’ll come back to you.”
“How did he get the money to pay him back?”
“How else… he worked for it. It took him about three months but he got away.”
Marianela shook her head, “No, there is more. You know how he is with Rune; well it was the same for him.”
“But doesn’t Akira fight back?”
“Money Zev, remember at the time he owed him over three hundred dollars.”
Zev’s eyes were wide. “What the hell did he get you?”
She smiled and shook her head, “I’ve put it up, and I’m not taking it out. After what I heard how it was hell for him I don’t think he wants to remember.”
“That would explain why he limped a lot.”
“I started to notice the marks after he got me the gift. It was bad; there were times where he didn’t come home for a week straight.”
“And when he did he was half drunk. If I had known where that bastard lived I would of kicked his ass.”
There was cough and they all quickly looked behind them, “You know he would be seriously pissed if he found you talking about his past.” The sigh that escaped them had Ransom shaking his head.
“Damn it Ransom scare the shit out of us why don’t you.” Mitch was trying to get his breathing back to normal. “Man I think my heart is half way up my throat.”
“What’s with the group meeting?” They all turned and saw Akira.
“Nothing!” Mitch grabbed Marianela and Ransom and they ran into the house. Zev looked at his feet as he was the only one sitting out there. Akira stopped behind him and he knelt down next to him as something dropped on his head. Reaching up he pulled the coat off his head.
“It’s yours and I thought you might want it back.”
He sat next to him and lowered his head, “Look I’m sorry…”
“I’m not good at this.”
“Huh?”
“This whole thing I’m not good at it. I won’t go back to the Underground.” He shook his head. “But don’t expect me to ask.”
He started laughing and grabbed his coat, “Here.”
“I’m not taking it.”
“Bullshit it smells like you. You know you’ll miss it.” The brunette huffed and looked away. “Besides I’ll feel better if I knew you had a warm coat to wear.” Akira looked at the coat and Zev smiled, “Humor me.”
“Fine.” He draped it around Akira’s shoulders and smiled. “What?”
“This way when I finally get it back it smells like you.”
“Stupid wolf.” It was mumbled out as he pulled it all the way on. He was use to the numbing cold, why couldn’t anyone get that. Well lately he found himself getting warmer when he was around Zev. A small smile found its way on his face.
The wolf caught this and he placed his hand on the ground next to him, “Akira.” He looked at him and Zev smiled. “You should hang out with the family and me for the rest of the week.”
“Why?”
“Because the only times you’re there is for a few minutes or because you’re on your death bed.”
“Can’t help it.”
Looking at him he grinned, “So? Will you?” He proceeded to poke him in the side, “Well are you?”
Akira swatted his hand away as he shift to the side. “Quit poking me and I’ll think about.”
“Awww, come on.” He poked his side and Akira moved again. A grinned formed on Zev’s face, “Why can’t I poke you, hmmm? You never complain when I poke you all the other times.”
Zev caught the blush as he looked away and muttered something.
“Talk about a gutter moment.”
Storm gray eyes looked at him as he tripped over his words, “Sh-shut up. I wasn’t even thinking about that.”
A playful grin was on Zev’s face, “Really didn’t look like it or are you embarrassed to admit you’re ticklish.”
“No!” He covered his face and Zev couldn’t help but poke him now. “Stop it.”
“No answer me.”
Akira grabbed both of his hands as he looked at him, “No poking me!”
“Does that include all poking or just your sides?”
“Zev!” The way Akira flushed had his grin growing.
“Wow I made you embarrassed.” He pulled Akira closer and the brunette looked him in the eyes. “So is that a yes or a no?”
“I’ll have to think about it, I still need to help out around here.”
“Really?”
They were so close that even if the neighbors had been watching neither of them cared. “Yeah.” Then there was the yapping. The brunette’s face darkened and he whipped around to see the small dog barking at him. “Buzz off you little rat!”
“Don’t you call him that!” He looked over to see one of the neighbors standing on the porch with another small dog. “Their better looking than your dog.”
“Does she realize that Ransom is a shifting dog?”
Akira glanced at Zev and shook his head, “Just wait. I think I have more fun messing with them than anyone else.”
“Akira?”
He watched as Akira stood and looked at the small yapping dog. Crouching lower, he stared at it, and then he said it loud enough for the lady to hear. “It’s so pathetic it wouldn’t last in a fight with a real dog. Maybe I should get a real dog and see.”
“You don’t touch him.” Zev sighed and walked over to the dog. He picked it up and looked at Akira with an eyebrow raised.
“What it barks at me all the time. I should kick it over the fence.”
“Akira.” He was shaking his head. “Come on.”
“Whatever it’s just a rat?” Walking over to the fence he sat the dog on the other side of it.
“Sorry about that.” The dog ran over to the woman and she looked at Zev.
Akira watched as the two chatted a little and he had flopped back to watch the sky. It had to be late afternoon by now. He saw Zev’s head appear in his line of vision and then he was kissing him. The gasp of surprise he heard had came from the dog owning woman and he smirked. He deepened the kiss by nipping at Zev’s bottom lip. It mostly likely would have ended up with him being carried off, if the damn cell phone didn’t go off.
The wolf sighed and Akira stopped him from reaching for it. They kissed again and he heard a tune come from Zev phone again. “Sorry.”
He sat up and watched as Zev answered his phone. Tuning out the conversation he looked over to see the dog lady was back in her house. About time she left him alone.
“Damn it.” He looked over at Zev.
“What is it?”
“That was dad; I need to go talk to him.” He gave Akira a quick kiss and then pulled away. “I’ll be right back. Think about that week with my family.”
“I will give you my answer the next time you come see me.”
“Heh, your killing me here.”
The brunette smirked and watched as Zev walked off, he didn’t move for a while. If he did it was to light another cigarette, even then he didn’t move from that spot. He looked up as the sun finally set and saw no moon in the sky. ‘New moon.’ His fingers pulled the cig from his lips and he exhaled. The front door opened and he looked over his shoulder. A smile was on his face when he saw Marianela looking at him.
“It’s dinner time.”
“Okay.” He dropped the dead cig on the ground and snuffed it out with the heal of his foot. “I’m starved.”
“I’m sure you are.”
A smile formed on his face as he looked at her, “Well of course I am. Look at me. I’m surprised I’m not fat from all this good food.”
The door closed as she rolled her eyes and punched him in the arm. “Stop your lying.”
“Not lying.”
The dark figure stood across the street the lantern still in their hands. They turned and walked off; it started to gently swing from side to side as a candle burned inside it. Howls rang throughout the city echoing around the construction areas and rubble filled streets. It slowly died out as it grew quiet, it wasn’t a peaceful quiet but more ominous then anything else.
“Okay. So why does Akira look like he’s going to strangle someone?”
“I asked him not to do the underground fighting. If he needs the help why can’t he just ask?”
“I see.” Sitting down he looked up at the wolf. “That is your first mistake.”
“How?”
“Akira won’t acknowledge help of any kind if he can argue about it. Well except for when Marianela yells at him to take it.” He smiled. “You know how hard it was to get him to live in this house and not some cheap apartment that is about to cave in. Once he graduated he told me he could pay for his own place. If Marianela hadn’t started to shout and scream about not having her own room and not living somewhere close to her school, he would have gotten one.”
Zev hung his head, “Damn it way is it so hard with him!”
“Akira is just like that. One reason is that he went out with this one person.” He had the dark haired wolf’s attention. “This guy was one to hold things above Akira’s head just to keep him from coming home. He helped Akira out by paying the rest of the bill on a gift for Maria, because he miss counted and was short on money. So the guy helped him pay for the gift. Akira being who he is told him he would pay him back.” The brunette sighed and shook his head. “The guy used that to his advantage, a way to keep Akira close to him.”
“Then why didn’t he leave him.”
“Because he was a dick.” They both look at the door to see Marianela. “He thought Yuki was cheating on him with Jett.”
“But Jett was going out with me at the time. Plus Akira and Jett are best friends.” The wolf sat down on the bottom step and muttered something. “Don’t worry about it. He’ll come back to you.”
“How did he get the money to pay him back?”
“How else… he worked for it. It took him about three months but he got away.”
Marianela shook her head, “No, there is more. You know how he is with Rune; well it was the same for him.”
“But doesn’t Akira fight back?”
“Money Zev, remember at the time he owed him over three hundred dollars.”
Zev’s eyes were wide. “What the hell did he get you?”
She smiled and shook her head, “I’ve put it up, and I’m not taking it out. After what I heard how it was hell for him I don’t think he wants to remember.”
“That would explain why he limped a lot.”
“I started to notice the marks after he got me the gift. It was bad; there were times where he didn’t come home for a week straight.”
“And when he did he was half drunk. If I had known where that bastard lived I would of kicked his ass.”
There was cough and they all quickly looked behind them, “You know he would be seriously pissed if he found you talking about his past.” The sigh that escaped them had Ransom shaking his head.
“Damn it Ransom scare the shit out of us why don’t you.” Mitch was trying to get his breathing back to normal. “Man I think my heart is half way up my throat.”
“What’s with the group meeting?” They all turned and saw Akira.
“Nothing!” Mitch grabbed Marianela and Ransom and they ran into the house. Zev looked at his feet as he was the only one sitting out there. Akira stopped behind him and he knelt down next to him as something dropped on his head. Reaching up he pulled the coat off his head.
“It’s yours and I thought you might want it back.”
He sat next to him and lowered his head, “Look I’m sorry…”
“I’m not good at this.”
“Huh?”
“This whole thing I’m not good at it. I won’t go back to the Underground.” He shook his head. “But don’t expect me to ask.”
He started laughing and grabbed his coat, “Here.”
“I’m not taking it.”
“Bullshit it smells like you. You know you’ll miss it.” The brunette huffed and looked away. “Besides I’ll feel better if I knew you had a warm coat to wear.” Akira looked at the coat and Zev smiled, “Humor me.”
“Fine.” He draped it around Akira’s shoulders and smiled. “What?”
“This way when I finally get it back it smells like you.”
“Stupid wolf.” It was mumbled out as he pulled it all the way on. He was use to the numbing cold, why couldn’t anyone get that. Well lately he found himself getting warmer when he was around Zev. A small smile found its way on his face.
The wolf caught this and he placed his hand on the ground next to him, “Akira.” He looked at him and Zev smiled. “You should hang out with the family and me for the rest of the week.”
“Why?”
“Because the only times you’re there is for a few minutes or because you’re on your death bed.”
“Can’t help it.”
Looking at him he grinned, “So? Will you?” He proceeded to poke him in the side, “Well are you?”
Akira swatted his hand away as he shift to the side. “Quit poking me and I’ll think about.”
“Awww, come on.” He poked his side and Akira moved again. A grinned formed on Zev’s face, “Why can’t I poke you, hmmm? You never complain when I poke you all the other times.”
Zev caught the blush as he looked away and muttered something.
“Talk about a gutter moment.”
Storm gray eyes looked at him as he tripped over his words, “Sh-shut up. I wasn’t even thinking about that.”
A playful grin was on Zev’s face, “Really didn’t look like it or are you embarrassed to admit you’re ticklish.”
“No!” He covered his face and Zev couldn’t help but poke him now. “Stop it.”
“No answer me.”
Akira grabbed both of his hands as he looked at him, “No poking me!”
“Does that include all poking or just your sides?”
“Zev!” The way Akira flushed had his grin growing.
“Wow I made you embarrassed.” He pulled Akira closer and the brunette looked him in the eyes. “So is that a yes or a no?”
“I’ll have to think about it, I still need to help out around here.”
“Really?”
They were so close that even if the neighbors had been watching neither of them cared. “Yeah.” Then there was the yapping. The brunette’s face darkened and he whipped around to see the small dog barking at him. “Buzz off you little rat!”
“Don’t you call him that!” He looked over to see one of the neighbors standing on the porch with another small dog. “Their better looking than your dog.”
“Does she realize that Ransom is a shifting dog?”
Akira glanced at Zev and shook his head, “Just wait. I think I have more fun messing with them than anyone else.”
“Akira?”
He watched as Akira stood and looked at the small yapping dog. Crouching lower, he stared at it, and then he said it loud enough for the lady to hear. “It’s so pathetic it wouldn’t last in a fight with a real dog. Maybe I should get a real dog and see.”
“You don’t touch him.” Zev sighed and walked over to the dog. He picked it up and looked at Akira with an eyebrow raised.
“What it barks at me all the time. I should kick it over the fence.”
“Akira.” He was shaking his head. “Come on.”
“Whatever it’s just a rat?” Walking over to the fence he sat the dog on the other side of it.
“Sorry about that.” The dog ran over to the woman and she looked at Zev.
Akira watched as the two chatted a little and he had flopped back to watch the sky. It had to be late afternoon by now. He saw Zev’s head appear in his line of vision and then he was kissing him. The gasp of surprise he heard had came from the dog owning woman and he smirked. He deepened the kiss by nipping at Zev’s bottom lip. It mostly likely would have ended up with him being carried off, if the damn cell phone didn’t go off.
The wolf sighed and Akira stopped him from reaching for it. They kissed again and he heard a tune come from Zev phone again. “Sorry.”
He sat up and watched as Zev answered his phone. Tuning out the conversation he looked over to see the dog lady was back in her house. About time she left him alone.
“Damn it.” He looked over at Zev.
“What is it?”
“That was dad; I need to go talk to him.” He gave Akira a quick kiss and then pulled away. “I’ll be right back. Think about that week with my family.”
“I will give you my answer the next time you come see me.”
“Heh, your killing me here.”
The brunette smirked and watched as Zev walked off, he didn’t move for a while. If he did it was to light another cigarette, even then he didn’t move from that spot. He looked up as the sun finally set and saw no moon in the sky. ‘New moon.’ His fingers pulled the cig from his lips and he exhaled. The front door opened and he looked over his shoulder. A smile was on his face when he saw Marianela looking at him.
“It’s dinner time.”
“Okay.” He dropped the dead cig on the ground and snuffed it out with the heal of his foot. “I’m starved.”
“I’m sure you are.”
A smile formed on his face as he looked at her, “Well of course I am. Look at me. I’m surprised I’m not fat from all this good food.”
The door closed as she rolled her eyes and punched him in the arm. “Stop your lying.”
“Not lying.”
The dark figure stood across the street the lantern still in their hands. They turned and walked off; it started to gently swing from side to side as a candle burned inside it. Howls rang throughout the city echoing around the construction areas and rubble filled streets. It slowly died out as it grew quiet, it wasn’t a peaceful quiet but more ominous then anything else.
