“We’re really going back there? Again? Isn’t he a little old to be going there?” Alex’s father grumbles, reclining in his seat.
“It’s his favorite place. Besides, you like pizza and games too, don’t you?” Molly nods, winking as she glances at her son in the backseat. Today was his birthday. They’d been looking forward to today all year. “It’s a shame none of your friends could come… But I think we’ll get along just fine without them.” She smirks, parking in front of the restaurant.
“Maybe if he went outside every once in a while he’d have more friends…” His father grunts, dragging himself out of the car. Molly gives her son a soft hug, her arms around him as they walk in. A familiar voice rings out as they enter, a bubbly girl bouncing to greet them.
“Heeeeeey~! It’s the birthday boy~! My, you’ve gotten so big~…” She purrs, giving him a playful hug. “Oh, you have no idea… We’ll take the same as last time.” Molly giggles. She nudges her oblivious husband, prompting him to head over and pay for them. The waitress shows the family to their seats, her body jiggling in her uniform, which seemed to cover less every year…
She was just as perfect as he remembered… Alex couldn’t wait to open his presents this year.
