Mommy’s Pride

The chatter of morning talk shows echoes through the spacious beach-house. Warm sunlight bathes the entire house, the view as beautiful as always out the massive windows...

The soft tinkle of glass breaks the awkward silence, Sam sipping her smoothie quietly. Things weren’t quite... the same as they were, after last night. Tiana had slept on the couch. Cat didn’t know what had happened... But she’d been told not to mention anything.

The three women turn as soft footsteps join them in the kitchen, Stefan wandering in awkwardly, wearing only a plain, long white t-shirt. It was hard to tell if he was wearing boxers or not... The shirt stretched down to his knees, the sleeves sagging too. His bare feet patter on the hardwood floor, quietly climbing into his usual seat.

He’d slept in his mothers’ bed last night. Except one of them didn’t want to sleep with him after... well...

“Good morning, baby...” Sam greets him sleepily, planting a soft kiss on his forehead. There was still a little tension from the night before, neither of his moms looking at one another.

After Tiana had... cleaned herself off, Stefan had been shooed out of the bedroom. There was a lot of arguing. Sam felt that Tiana was trying to erase the fact that she was bisexual. Tiana was understandably angry, forced to... take a hands-on approach to embracing her son’s heterosexuality...

“Okay... I’m gonna go finish getting ready for work... Don’t forget to pack Steffy’s sunscreen, babe...” Sam mumbles to her wife, Tiana immediately snapping. “What do you mean? I thought Cat was watching him today? I’ve got things to do, I can’t watch... him.”

“Sorry, Mom, I’m gonna be busy with Carmen...” Cat mumbles, nervously slipping off her seat and removing herself from the awkward situation. Tiana scowls, glaring first at her son, then at her wife... She didn’t have much of a choice. Still... She felt like she’d been tricked into this.

Stefan didn’t understand. He didn’t know why one of his moms was angry at him... He was still trying to understand everything that’d happened yesterday. Everything was so confusing for him...

“Fine... I’ll go get ready. Have fun at work, babe... Come on, you...” Tiana grumbles, yanking her son by the shirt. He stumbles off his chair, being dragged against his will towards his mothers’ bedroom...

Sam watches anxiously... Hopefully, her wife would get over it, and they’d get along...
