Chapter: 3
Sometime later we arrived in front of a tall business building that was about 30 stories high. The name on the sign out front read:
~Feather\'s Regional~
I parked where it said FRPA only.
"What\'s FRPA?"
"It\'s Feather\'s Regional Protection Agency."
The place was busy like it was just another building for workers. The lobby was beautiful and Jaston pulled me along before I got sidetracked from trying to look at all the paintings.
We headed towards an elevator and Jaston pressed the down button and we stepped inside. And a young man about my age said, "wait, can you hold that open for me." And Jaston did so as the young man stepped inside the elevator.
He had bright red hair the color of a strawberry. His eyes were emerald green and he stood to a height of five foot seven. He also wore a black long trench coat that had the feather emblem also along with the number 13 across it. The elevator doors closed and the lights dimmed red a womans voice on the intercom said; "Alright everyone you know the drill."
All along the wall three scanners popped out and they got their eyes scanned and their ID\'s scanned as well. I followed suit and after all the bright lights filtered out of my retina the light undimmed and we started to move.
We started to go down to floor F.
"How come theres not a button for floors A through E?"
Jaston answered me, "because to get to those floors you have to walk up the stairs, and the entrance for the stairs is on floor F... Supposedly its more secure."
"Uh huh..." I answered as we stopped a moment later. The doors behind us opened and as I turned to see a huge room.
There was plenty of screens all the over the place. They looked like camera feedback from all over town of just your everyday ordinary humans. There was a young man standing at screen with a keyboard in front of him. He was talking into a headset and giving out orders to others his voice commanding, but subtle.
We stepped out of the elevator, "Stay close," Jaston whispered as someone rushed past us. The redhead already walked off and I was stuck here with him.
"What is this place?"
"It\'s where we monitor the town so we dont have any accidents."
"What do you mean by accidents?"
"Well lets put it this way we\'re the police of the fair folk. Were here so they, or us dont get noticed by the outside world... We do cleanup jobs, negotiations, give citations, put people in jail, but usually none of that happens because they\'re too hostile, so we usually end up killing them..."
"What do you mean by \'us\'?" I said using air quotes.
"What? Did you think you got this job because you were some normal human?" He chuckled, "Come on, i\'ll show you around..."
He walked off as I followed pondering the last thing he said to me. We went through a door and up some stairs that looked like it was meant to be a fire escape. As we reached the top stair the door to our left burst open hitting the wall hard as the same young man with the red hair ran getting chased by Kira. She didn\'t seem to happy as he tripped laughing going upstairs and through a door.
We headed through the one they came out of to show a gun range and training mats. People were sparring and firing off firearms, but as we went further in I noticed how strange everyone looked. The way they were sparring with, magic? And was that lightening? And some type of mist?
I stopped in my tracks watching them spar. And the woman sparring with a man who was faster than I could track with my eyes. As he slowed down I noticed it was Xavier. Jaston pulled on my arm, "Don\'t breathe that in you\'ll be poisoned for three weeks... And you won\'t be able to breathe for an hour."
We walked a ways away coming up to beautiful young woman.
She had long silky black hair and orange striking eyes. She looked asian, but you could clearly see that she was american. She stood to a height of 5\' 11", and from the sound of her voice she had no problem giving orders. She wore black skinny jeans with red heels, and a red halter top with a black leather jacket. And as we walked up too her she was just putting her hair in a bun.
"Shira-iko." Jaston called out as she met his eyes she smiled beautifully. And she walked up to us shrugging out of her leather jacket. She hugged him as she pulled away holding her hand out to me. "Hi, I\'m Shira-iko, but I go by June." She said smirking at Jaston, and I shook her hand,
"My names Derex..."
"Oh, you must be Nadia\'s son," I nodded as I dropped my hand, "It\'s so nice to finally meet you."
"So who told you to bring him here first Jaston?" She asked as she walked back towards the area she came from. She walked down the three steps setting her jacket down on the railing. She took off her heels walking onto the blue training mats.
"His mother did, and she wanted you to teach him personally how to you use his hilm, the berial, and the bird\'s feather... And any other tricks that you deem important..."
"And whats your job?"
"Shock treatment..."
She smiled as I walked down the three stairs the glint in her eyes frightening.
