Chapter 4

For three days I have been here. The day after the bar I was informed by the mechanic that he would have to send to the city for my part. I was looking for at least a week before he got it and fixed my poor car. I unpacked my suitcase and settled in for the long haul in this sleepy town. Cathy introduced me to her husband Tom and I was a regular over there. I met the general store owner Hank and his wife Bell and their five-year old daughter Torry. Marcus introduced me to his wife Addy and I was told that their daughter Katy was in collage in the city. Marcus was a man of his word and I didn't hear even a rumor about the card I showed him.

My days were starting to get a little routine. I would get up about six am and go for a run. My running area was basically a few miles circling around the town. Sleepy little towns didn't get up quite that early so no one really saw me doing that. After the run I would return for a shower then head over to the café and get breakfast. I would eat but mostly just talk with Cathy and Tom. After I would leave there, I would head over to the park. Making my way to the clearing and checking to see it was empty. It always was. I would stay there until mid afternoon. Then it would be time to head back to the room for a shower. After the shower it was back to the café for lunch/dinner. I always ended up taking half of what I ordered to the room.

I got back to the room about four and never fail, a hour later the handsome duo showed up on my door. We usually went to the park for lack of anyplace else to go and we would just sit and talk. Always it came up in the conversation my statement, 'you country boys don't want to play with this city gal'. They were determined to prove me wrong. They didn't do a single thing that wouldn't be construed as being romantic. Soft kisses, hugs, safe touches and just being sweet. There was a great deal of flirting and suggestive remarks but that was more frustrating than anything else. Don't be tempted hell.

After a couple hours at the park we would all head for the bar. I never drank anything but coke and the boys would drink beer but never more than a couple. Tye always joined us there and we all would dance, drink and just enjoy ourselves. I was right about Tye but I was also right in the fact no one knew. I was great at keeping secrets. Max would say sometimes I was a little too good at it.

A couple of times when we were at the bar, Max would call to get the latest update on the 'Montana drama' as he called it. Nick and Ryan would get grouchy everytime I answered the phone to 'darling' but would then try to distract me from talking to him. I was doing great on the ignoring part until Ryan discovered that my neck was extremely sensitive. He told Nick and that night began the nibbling. I had to call Max back later and apologize for hanging up on him.

"Hi darling. Sorry about earlier"

Laughing lightly, "So what the hell happened? It sounded like a strangled cat."

"Ryan, the devil, started nibbling on my neck."

You didn't need the phone to hear Max's laughter in New York.

"They are really getting to know you. Bet Ryan didn't keep that from Nick."

"Of course not," I complained. "They looked like they had been given their Christmas and birthday presents in one. Tye didn't stop laughing for over an hour."

"Neither did I. I figured they found something out you had no intention of them finding. So did you figure out what their 'unusual tastes' are, precious?"

"No darling, but I have a really good idea. Everything they have done up to this point has always been together. Never one without the other. I think they tag team or both at once."

"I'm betting both. That would qualify better on the small town mentality. Not that it would bother you. You have been a part of quite a few threesomes."

"You know that is damn well not the problem, darling."

"Calm down precious." He said soothingly. "What is the word on your car?"

"Too long I am afraid. It is getting harder to remember why I need to resist them. What am I going to do Max? I want to and I know I can't. The frustration is really starting to get to me. Bad enough to go this long without but add to that wanting them and denying myself is sheer torture. I am not sure I can last till my car is fixed."

"Since when do you whine?"

"Apparently since I started denying myself. I've never done that before. It sucks."

Cautiously Max said, "Have you actually thought about broaching them with it?" At my startled gasp he hurried on quickly, "I know that on the surface it would seem to be a bad idea but that was when they didn't know you. Now they have had a chance to talk and be with you. Think of it this way, you have been way to much trouble for a one nighter so they must be interested in you as a person. There is a chance that they might accept all of you and agree. I am just saying keep it in mind, precious."

Resigned I said, "Max, not even you can accept all of me. What on earth makes you think that two down to dirt, heterosexual country boys would ever think of talking to me again, let alone being with me? If I even tried anything with them, this small town wouldn't be small enough for me to exist here. The only way would be is on the day I leave and I am not even sure they wouldn't follow just to make me pay. I don't want to hurt them but they would want to hurt me. I can't take the chance. If nothing else because I like them."

"I could almost say you have it bad, precious."

"What?"

"If I have to tell you then, you don't."

"Darling, you aren't making any sense."

"I know Kit. But one day you will get it and then heaven and hell will both grieve and rejoice. Just because you really won't understand. Just remember precious, I will still be there when it happens. Talk later and have a good night."

With that Max hung up and I stood there looking at the phone and wondered what the hell he was talking about.

Something tells me, I don't want to know but I might find out.
