Bathroom stalls I wish these walls could talk

What’s yours is mine

Chapter 4: Bathroom stalls I wish these walls could talk

It was my first day taking college courses in nearly 2 years and I was excited more than I had ever been in my very mundane life. Because I had been scared away from my job, I decided it appropriate to have something to fill my time when working wasn’t an option.

Walking through those long halls, I felt like a fish out of water or more appropriately a woman out of a job. I knew no one and I had high hopes that my antisocial behavior wouldn’t scare away any potential friends.

My first class was English 101 honors, and although I wasn’t too fond of writing and all things involved, I did enjoy listening to my professor speak. He was tall dark and handsome with bright blue eyes and short dark brown hair that always seemed to flutter when he talked. He kept one hand in his pocket and the other tightly clutching a piece of barely used chalk of which he never used the entire class period. Now I was remembering why college was such a wonderful place.

“For those of you who are new, I understand that my class is at the bottom of the totem pole, but I ask that you not sleep here unless you have a condition,” he said, his voice deep and sophisticated. I ogled him the entire time, looking away only to write notes and fill out otherwise useless information.

“He’s a looker isn’t he,” said the woman beside me. I lifted my mouth up off the ground and realized my embarrassment.

“He’s decent,” I said pretending to shuffle papers.

“It’s okay, I’ve been watching him since class began.” She said. “I’m Joan, you are?”

“It’s Esme. Nice to meet you Joan.” I said still a bit flustered. Although the professor was very handsome, my mind couldn’t help but to wander back to Vincent. His long blond curls, those green eyes that perfectly tanned skin. He was an Adonis for sure, but I wasn’t interested in men that forced themselves on me not to mention I was convinced that he was a vampire and last night he had intended to feast upon me. It scared me more than I could mention, which is why I packed up my things and moved back with my grandpa for the duration of the school year. The next step was going to the police.

After class I was parched after having left all my saliva in the classroom and so I bought a large drink to get me through the rest of the day. Liquids tended to run through me very fast.

“Gotta go!” I chanted, rushing to the ladies room for the third time within an hour. I stood at the threshold for a minute to make sure no one was present, no stalkers or vampires or the like. I had become extremely paranoid which was a direct reaction to Vincent and his appearing ways. I should have waited until I got home.

There was a creak and then a click.

I was still cramped in my stall and the sound of my pee over the shutting and locking of the door didn’t register in my mind until after I was done. I could have sworn I locked that door.

“Ah!” I shouted startled. There he was, standing there in all his beautiful glory.

“This is a ladies room. No men allowed!” I said, backing up. My escape effort was more impossible than I was willing to overcome unless I was spider man or some other super hero that could climb walls. I cursed the school’s architecture.

“It’s been a week and I’ve noticed that you are no longer at your former residence. Are you running from me Esme?” he asked, resting his elbow on one of the sinks.

“Look I’ve had enough of this! If you want to get to know me you ask! I won’t stand for this!”

“Are you raising your voice to me?”

I cocked an eyebrow at that. Who did he think he was my mother?

“If you keep doing this I’ll be forced to call the police.”

He laughed manically.

“Do you know what I am Esme?”

“I know what you’re not. The kind voice I met months ago. I think I’d be better off if you were still just a voice.”

He stalked towards me like a predator spotting its prey. I coiled my scarf tighter around my neck.

“This world we live in Esme. It’s not what it seems. There are beings in this world that cannot be controlled and I am one of them. When I want something, I take it.”

He grabbed my arm at the elbow and pulled me forward to him.

“No more of this cat and mouse. I’m taking you away with me,” he said pulling me along. I pulled back.

“Are you insane? I’m not going anywhere with you.”

He pushed me forward, bending me over onto the sink and held the back of my neck so that I could do nothing but flail my arms.

“Either I take you now, or later.” He whispered into my ear.

“Never!” I shouted. There was a knock on the backroom door. He pulled my skirt down to my ankles.

“That wasn’t an option.” He said pressing himself up against me. I had to bite my lip to keep a moan from escaping. I could feel his hardness.

“Please don’t…please I’ll go. I’ll go.” I said hoping to not be raped in a filthy bathroom. I gathered myself.

“Good.” He said turning me around to face him. He grabbed my chin and held it so that I couldn’t turn away.

“You’re too beautiful for this human world. I cannot protect you here.”

There was another knock at the door.

“I’ll be giving you a new life, a better life.”

He moved closer until our lips almost touched.

“I want you to be my bride.” He said pulling me closer. Closer still. I was in a trance, lost in his eyes. I couldn’t move and I could barely breathe. He was doing something to me.

“I don’t want to leave…” I whispered. He let his lips touch mine, their softness barely gracing the flesh of my own. He kissed deeper enveloping me within his touch. He let his lips move along my own, sucking, nipping. I opened for him, letting his tongue tickle my gums, move gracefully along with my own. He held me tighter, pulled me closer until our bodies had no space in between. I thought he was swallow me whole right then, his kiss never once leaving, not even after he was gone.

There was a knock and then the sound of a key turning.

“You will only need the clothes on your back. Meet me at your apartment,” he said before vanishing right before my eyes. There was nothing left of him only his scent.

“Miss are you okay?” said a campus officer peeking in. I know I must have looked flustered, lips still parted and damp.

“I’m…I’m fine just thought I’d get some time to myself for a moment. No, no not like that, I was just, I was-“

“It’s okay Miss. Just make sure you be mindful of others.” He said. I gave him a confirming nod and gathered myself.
