Run Run as Fast as you Can
Ch. 4 Run, Run, as Fast as you Can
Amber was shoved to the side as Ryan and Dunkin began to brawl yet again. Fists hitting flesh and kicks hurting sides, Amber watched in concern and gathering her courage, or stupidity, she rushed in to stop them.
Amber stumbled back as a fist connected with her face, a ring ripping at her lower lip, and she fell to the ground. There was silence for the first time in a while since the beginning of the fight. Amber sat up dizzily and lifted her hand to her lip and pulled her hand away and stared in horror upon seeing her dark, red, blood…
“AMBER RUN!!!” Shrieked Jeremy as she jumped the railing to land gracefully in the foyer.
Amber stood up slowly as she watched Ryan and Jeremy try to hold back Dunkin, who was somehow changing. His body trembled, his claws and fangs more prominent and…Amber gulped, he was growling.
Amber turned and ran up the stairs, again almost tripping on the steps, and ran blindly through the twisting hallways of the manor; Not to mention that the lights inside the house were so dim she could barely see where she was going. Suddenly she heard a loud thud, then foot steps rushing after her. Her heart began to speed in fear.
She turned her head around looking for an exit of some sort, or more help, when she ran into a wall. Freezing she slowly looked up, for it wasn’t a wall, but Dunkin’s chest. Dilated ice blue eyes, glistening fangs, faster than her senses could detect Dunkin moved to pin her against the hall way’s wall. Those long claws digging into her shoulders.
She flinched at the pain, but never lost eye contact with the vampire. She would have to use her power on him, but only a little. She took a deep breath and tried to warn him, “Dunkin, you don’t want to do this.”
He turned his lip up like a growling animal and growled at her. Without turning her head, she heard the other two vampires arrive at the scene.
“Amber, don’t do anything that will reveal your neck to him.” Warned Jeremy.
Amber frowned as she tried to concentrate on using her power, “I’m not an idiot, Jeremy.” Focus, she told herself, just spread it into the blood flow…to his fingers…and burn him.
Dunkin’s face moved closer to hers and to the blood that was now running down her chin and neck, Amber panicked and the fire within her rushed…he stopped.
He pulled away, if only just a hair, in confusion and looked at his hands that were buried in her shoulders. Finally having distracted the vampire, Amber pushed against his chest as hard as she could, resulting in deep cutting of her biceps, but she managed to slip away.
Jeremy, for the second time that night, and took her wrist and led her through the maze of the manor. Amber felt dizzy, her body becoming week, “Jeremy…” She pleaded for the girl to stop.
“We are almost there, just hold on.” She said in urgency before storming into a room.
Jeremy put Amber in a chair, and she took the seat greatfully, she only opened her eyes when she heard Jessica.
“What happened!?”
“I’m so sorry, I thought she could help! I didn’t know what to do and…” Jeremy ranted but Amber stopped her.
“And you did the right thing.” She smiled kindly at the tan girl, and Jeremy’s frown only deepened.
Without further conversation, Jessica and Jeremy began to bandage Ambers wounds. After Jessica sent Jeremy off, she turned her attention to her friend, who was now in her own bed.
Jessica sat beside Amber, “There is no doubt in my mind that something like this will happen again.”
Amber understood her friends worry, “I’m not leaving, and neither is Dunkin.”
Jessica frowned, “Dunkin is a threat to your life! I am not losing another person I love for some stupid reason, something we could prevent! I know about your powers Amber! You can’t…”
Amber put her hand on her friends and sighed, “I will be fine. Please trust me on this one.”
Jessica sighed and squeezed her friends hand gently, “Fine. I love you, and rest well.”
“I love you too, sis.” Replied Amber before drifting off to sleep.
