He felt dizzy, smelling the coppery aroma of his own blood. He began to think back to his family, to his childhood, and suddenly...
The vampire let go...
Naeyan quickly lifted a hand to the side of his neck, staring up at his attacker, and the few vampires that now stood behind him. "You shouldn't have done that, Derek," one remarked, holding the vicious blood-drinker back.
"One of our own was attacked first!" Derek argued. "Eye for an eye!"
"He's not the one that lead the attack, idiot!" The new vampire threw Derek to the floor, and slowly turned to Naeyan. "You should leave... go find a healer."
Naeyan blinked his eyes, still covering his wound with his hand. "What...? W-where...?"
"I'll take him," he suddenly heard, a young meu meu walking up.
The other vampires didn't say anything as they pulled Derek away, leaving Naeyan and the feline boy alone. Naeyan slowly got to his feet, looking up at the other. "M-Milo?"
"That's right," he said, smiling only a little. "It looks like he didn't try turning you."
"He... he wanted to.. kill me..." The non-vampire still couldn't believe it. That was the first time he had ever been so close to death. It would've been so easy for Derek to accomplish too.
"Come on," Milo told him, coming closer. "I'll get you to the school healer, okay?"
Naeyan gave a light nod, allowing the vampiric meu meu to lead him away to the healer. A numbing fear replaced the pain of the wound in his neck. He finally realized just how dangerous Saeran was. It was... thrilling... exciting... There was just something different about such a near-death experience that made him wish to learn more about his classmates.

"I don't believe it," Kuurin sighed, watching the healer work on his friend.
"Those hunters seriously need to lighten up," said the unfortunate victim. "Sarz is gonna be pissed."
"Yeah... I wonder what he's gonna do about this."
The healer wrapped bandages around the vampire's already healing wound. "Maybe he'll have a talk with their leader," he commented.
"... Maybe."
A few minutes later, Naeyan and Milo walked inside, seeing the other two vampires. "Oh, hey, guys," Milo told them, smiling at them. "Looks like you're the one that started the commotion, huh?" he added, looking at the injured vampire.
"Yeah... guess someone retaliated by biting the kid, huh?" He looked Naeyan over. "Ain't you new?"
"Uh huh," Naeyan quietly answered. The healer quickly hurried over to Naeyan, checking his injuries. "Oh my," said the healer. "He really bit you hard, didn't he?"
"He was going for a kill," Milo softly said. "He was calling it 'an eye for an eye'..."
"Well, that's not good at all." The healer went to a cabinet and started grabbing some ingredients. "Hm... I might have to order more herbs and flowers at this rate," he sighed, starting on a medicinal potion. "You can go ahead and sit down, dear," he said to Naeyan as he worked.
The silver-haired boy sat on a chair, feeling tired. Kuurin, feeling bad for him, walked over, taking off Naeyan's jacket. "You'll probably need to get a new uniform," he quietly said. "Blood stains pretty badly."
"Oh..." was all that Naeyan could say.
Kuurin sat next to him. "Is that idiot gonna make you run away?"
The younger boy blinked his eyes, looking up at Kuurin. "No," he said, "I actually want to learn more. About... vampirism, I mean..."
"Is that so? Most people would just leave."
"I'm stubborn," Naeyan told him. "Besides... at least this place isn't boring, right?"
Kuurin chuckled a little. "Well... that is true. It's not boring... at all."
"Exactly."

Later that evening, Naeyan returned to his dorm room, finding Khile sound asleep in bed. Naeyan felt so tired; it would be great to get some sleep.
He quietly walked over to his own bed, taking off his clothes, wincing lightly at the stinging pain in his neck. He gently touched the bandage, satisfied that it was still secure. After a moment more, he carefully laid down on the bed, pulling the covers up over himself. It felt so good to just lay there, and he soon found himself asleep, resting in a dreamless slumber.
