Ok heres the new chap. hope you'll like it.
Two Weeks Later…
“What!!!!!”
“Chris, you do remember don’t you? That was the whole reason you and Brian went out that Saturday. Brian says that Chris would love to go out with you. Braian told me you would be great together.”
Tobie was seeing stars. He’d completely forgotten about the date with Chris. Hell, he’d almost forgotten he’d told Mika and Brian he was gay. 'Damn, my big stupid mouth got me again.' He had to go out with this guy Chris or he could blow his cover to soon. To be truthful he’d thought that Brian would have forgotten as well. Then a thought came to him. What if Brian had set him up with Chris, even if they wouldn’t like each other, just to show he was sorry? 'Damn, there is nothing I can really do now.'
“Sure I remember now so much has been going on that I forgot all about Chris, sorry.”
“No problem. So what should I tell Brian?”
'Tell him to go to hell.' “Tell him to set everything up for me.”
Mika smiled big and walked over to the phone to make the call. “He should be on break now so I’ll let him know right now.”
A few minutes later and he heard her say loudly, “That’s what I said, he said yes,” silence, “Ok, I’ll tell him.” She hung the phone up. Looking over at Tobie Mika said, “Brian says that Chris will pick you up tomorrow at eight, but he’ll call you later with more details. He seemed surprised that you said yes. What happed that night?”
Tobie looked at her then smiled and told her about the other man getting drunk. “I think he thought I would hold it against Chris, I think.” Mika seemed to be surprised. “Brian got drunk? You must drink like a whale because Brian can drink like a fish and still function like he has never touched the stuff.”
Tobie let that soak in his head. If he wasn’t drunk like he said then he kissed me and meant it. Tobie looked at Mika and smiled. “I guess I must have been wrong then. He must just have been surprised I liked Chris too.” As he said this to Mika Tobie thought, 'Brian must like girls or he wouldn’t be dating Mika. Well, maybe he likes guys too. Shit! That means Brian likes me as more than a possible friend. That can’t be. If he likes me like that then he wouldn’t be setting me up with this Chris guy. Damn, but Mika says he was surprised I said yes. He must have thought I liked him so he kissed me. He was just surprised that I still wanted to go out with one of his friends after what he did. Yeah, that had to be it. I mean hell; I blushed every time the guy looked at me a little differently. I have to tell him I don’t have the feelings he has for me. I can always say I didn’t like Chris after all. Whooow, that settles that... I can go out with Chris …wait. When did Brian having feelings for me and sticking me with another guy make this settled? Well at least I can make something up to spend more time with Mika.'
“I have to buy something to wear tomorrow. Would you like to come along?”
“Yea, I have to buy something to give to Brian for his birthday.”
“Birthday? When?”
“Oh, that’s right I forgot to tell you that Brian’s b-day was coming up. It’s on the 28th.”
"The 28th is in two days Mika. I can’t afford to get him anything and get myself something for tomorrow." Then, “Maybe I could get a new shirt and buy Brian something with what’s left.”
The woman looked at the young man for a miniute before she walked over to the couch were he sat. "What are you so excited about? You don't have to get him anything. You've been bouncing around here in your own little world for awhile now.
"I know I don't need to get him, but you can't just hang around someone on their birthday and not give them a present."
Mika raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow and smiled at him. "If that's what you want. I'll help you if you need it."
The Next Night…
“Not this again. He’s still up there?” mumbled Brian.
He’d come to pick up Mika for their date and Mika wouldn’t leave till Tobie had left with his date. “Be quite, Chris hasn’t even showed up yet.” Mika turned to face Brian. “You know, Tobie has come a long very nicely when it come to being shy around guys. I think I have you to thank for that babe.”
Brain smiled at her but didn’t say anything. Then as he’d done before Tobie slowly walked down the stairs to meet the others. Brian managed to stay calm as Tobie came toward them. Tobie had on what looked like the same black lacks, glasses and spiked hair style as Saturday. He had on a dark green almost black shirt that seemed to be just a little too long for him. Brian came to the conclusion that Tobie liked the color. Brian grinned to himself just as Tobie stepped in front of them. The smaller man paused at the grin then looked away. He then looked over to Mika as she smiled at him.
“If you weren’t gay I’d so be all over you right now.”
Tobie nearly fell on the floor at those words. Of all the things she could say right now. Tobie half smiled at her. Tobie turned to face Brian with a sigh.
“How are you Brian? I heard your birthday is tomorrow. What have you two planned for your birthday?”
“We’re going to La Shay and dancing later.” replied Mika with excitement. “I’ve never been to La Shay before and I heard it’s becoming a hot spot.” she smiled up at Brian as she said this. Turning to Tobie she arched an eyebrow.
“Where are you and Chris going tonight?”
Tobie jumped to attention at the question and said, “Tonight? Oh yeah, Chris told me it was a surprise. It’s suppose to be some place with great food and a big dance floor, but,” Tobie paused, “I haven’t danced in a while. I don’t want to embarrass myself.”
“Don’t worry about it Tob, Chris isn’t a top notch dancer himself. Even if you do trip or fall I have a good feeling here,” Brian pointed just above the spot Tobie kneed during their kiss, “you’ve got great reflexes.”
Tobie frowned at the comment and at the nickname. “You would know right?” replied Tobie. Mika looked at the two of them with a perplexed look on her face.
“Is something wrong? You two seem like your upset with each other.”
Both men looked at her and answered. “Nothings wrong.” Brian went on, “I surprised Tobie and he swung at me, but he stopped just short of hitting me.”
“Oh” Mika smiled and looked at Tobie. “It’s about time some one taught the careless big shot a lesson.” Then she turned to Brian. “I’m glad he had good reflexes, I wouldn’t want this sexy body to get hurt.” Mika put her hands on his face and gave him a whopping kiss. They both stood, wrapped in each others arms, till the doorbell broke them up.
“I’ll get it,” Mika bounced over to the door.
Tobie let out a sigh he hadn’t realized he had been holding in. He also realized that his hands were tightly clinched. 'What am I upset about?' Tobie closed his eyes and breathed in deep. 'Mika’s kissed Brian in front of me several times before, why am I upset now?' When he opened his eyes they connected with worry filled blue ones.
“Sorry man, I’m just feeling a little tired. No need to look so concerned ‘bout me.”
Turning around toward the door Tobie stopped when he heard Brian whisper. Then jade eyes met cobalt ones again as Brian stepped in front of him.
“Tob, are you sure you’re alright? You don’t look so good right now.” Brian made a move to put his hand on Tobie’s head and Tobie unconsciously took a step back. This stopped the other man’s hand in mid air. Something twisted inside Tobie at the look Brian gave him. “I’m okay, and please don’t call me Tob. I’ve just been so busy with my new job and school. Plus, I didn’t sleep so well last night…” He didn’t add that the sleepless night was because of the man asking him questions.
Brian stepped forward and lifted the head that had slowly been turning down and away from him. He smiled inwardly when the younger man seemed to pout at having his head lifted. “I won’t call you Tob any more, but if you’re tired and not feeling well then you shouldn’t go out.” The shocked reaction at this statement made Brian’s inward smile spill outward.
Tobie thought about it, 'I could say yes, I am really tired. This Chris guy may not be able to go out again for a while so I won’t have to go out with him.' Just as Tobie thought this Brian dropped his hand and stated, “Chris is going to be at my party tomorrow so if you’re free you can come along after work.”
'Damm!'
“Sure, I already told Mika I’d come to it.” As an after thought Tobie said, “Will Chris be okay about tonight?”
“He’ll be ok.” Brian smiled and raised an eyebrow. “It’s not like he won’t see you tomorrow. You’re tired and you should be able to rest. Chris will just have to deal with it.”
Just then Chris walked into the room. Chris was tall as Brian with that same tanned skin. Chris however had straw blonde hair and hazel colored eyes. He was dressed in a black business suit with the tie missing and neck unbuttoned.
“Sorry I’m so late, my meeting ran over.” Chris turned from Brian and then put out his hand to Tobie. With a smile that was obviously meant to be sexy he said, “You must be Tobie. Brian was right, you are something special.”
'Special?' Tobie looks over his shoulder at Brain. 'Why would he say something like that about me?' As he chewed over this thought steal blue eyes darkened with an unreadable look right before his eyes. Tobie twirled around and, not realizing he’d been chewing on his lips as he thought, half heartedly smiled at Chris.
“Umm…. Thanks? Back at ya?”
“Thanks. So you ready to go? Our dinner reservations are almost certainly shot but I’m sure we can think of some where else to go tonight. What do you think?”
“Well I’m…” Before he could finish the explanation Brian stepped in front and broke in. “I’m sorry Chris but Tobie’s feeling really tired and I talked him in to resting on you. He will be at the dinner party tomorrow and dancing after though.” Brian flashed a big crocodile grin at Chris as if to say disagree, and feel my teeth. “I know you two were looking forward to this,” Brian turned to look at Tobie, “but this guy was about to pass out on me just before you came in and I knew you wouldn’t want to have him fall out on you tonight, would you?” crocodile grin back on Brian waited for the blondes answer. Before the reply came Mika walked into up to them.
“Oh, Tobie I knew you’d been over working lately but I had no idea you were so tired.” Mika turned to Tobie and took his head in her hands. “How could I be so blind honey? You look worn out.” She turned to the two other men in the room. “Tobie needs a good night sleep and to call in sick tomorrow.” Tobie made a gesture to say no to missing work when Mika said, “I’ll stay home too and make sure he is rested for the party."
Tobie jumped at the chance to spend the whole day being taken care of by Mika “That does sound good. I could use the break. I’m really sorry about this Chris, but we can get to know each other better tomorrow night.”
“Great! You two I’m going to make sure he is comfortable so I’ll see you both later.”
“It was nice to meet you Chris and I’ll see you at the party.” Chris gave a big smile and watched with Brian as he and Mika walked up the stairs to his bedroom.
Chris turned to face Brian.
“May I ask why you talked my date, the one you setup for me, out of going out tonight?”
Chris had a big knowing smile on his face as he waited for an answer. Brian smiled back at Chris, “I already told you. He was too tired to go out tonight. You wouldn’t have had much fun with him in that state. Anyways you get to see him again.”
Chris looked at Brian then up at the stairs then back at Brian again. “You sure it wasn’t because you didn’t want me to be alone with the guy?”
“What makes you say something like that? The man’s not my type; anyways I’m with Mika right now.” Brian, if anything. was a one woman or man kind of guy.
Chris gave an impish grin at the other man’s reaction to his statement. Chris and Brian had known each other since college, they’d been roommates. Chris had walked in on Brian and his boyfriend at the time a month into their first year of school. Chris came out to him that same day. Since then their friendship had grown stronger. Chris always recognized when Brian was falling for a new guy or girl. Brian would find ways to get close to the person. Then he tended to be over protective of the people he cared about. The blonde knew Brian wouldn’t have cared that much about one of his dates looking a little tired. This meant he was really worried about Tobie, which meant he was developing feelings for the man.
“Why are you worried about him being tired then?”
Brian rolled his eyes, “Not your mother hen theory again. I told you that he more or less fell on me when I was talking to him. What good would it do for you to go out when he could fall a sleep on you?”
“Ok. Like you said I’ll get to see him tomorrow. I guess I’ll go on home and rest up for the party too.” Chris grinned wide and walked to the door. He turned as he opened the door, “See you at lunch,” locked the door then closed it behind him softly.
Chris stood there staring at the door after Chris. He was still staring when Mika came down from putting Tobie to bed. Mika saw Brian just gazing at the door and called out to him, “Brian? I thought I heard you and Chris leave."
“Brian turned around and looked up at Mika, “No, it was just Chris leaving. I’m about to go now. I’ll see you…and Tobie tomorrow night.” Brian walked to the door and was stopped by Mika words, “Are you alright Brian? You don’t seem like yourself tonight. Maybe you should take it easy tomorrow too.”
Brian smiled softly and turned his head toward Mika, “Maybe I will, love. Be on time for once tomorrow, will you?” Mika opened her mouth wide at this and moved toward the door. Brian locked and closed the door quickly before Mika could run down the stairs and attack him.
Mika walked back up the stairs giggling to her-self along the way.
Yea!! Another on bites the dust.
