Rumors About You and Me: Chapter 4
xxxxxx
At lunch, Matt slid into the seat next to Brandon. “Hey, how’s your day going?”
The displaced air carried a sweet scent and Brandon leaned a bit closer to smell it.
“You smell like strawberries,” Brandon blurted out.
Matt blushed crimson. “I ran out of shampoo and I had to use my sister’s,” Matt mumbled the explanation.
“Smells good. I like it,” Matt complimented and ruffled Matt’s hair. He had never touched Matt’s hair before and was surprised by how silky soft and fine those short strands were. He ran his hand through again, this time more of an exploratory caress than a playful ruffle.
Matt didn’t seem to mind and actually leaned into Brandon’s hand, so Brandon continued to stroke his hair. Brandon had always been pretty physically intuitive about giving massages, changing directions and patterns. Instinctively, he took a handful of Matt’s hair and tugged a little. Matt made a surprised, but not negative, sound. So Brandon tugged his hair again and was rewarded with a soft “oh” from Matt.
It was probably a good thing that Amanda came and sat down in front of them. She was grinning with an all too knowing expression on her face. “Brandon, you found his weakness. Matt loves having his hair played with.”
Looking at Matt’s face, he could believe it. Matt looked completely blissed out and his pupils were larger than normal.
Matt laughed nervously. “Um…yeah it’s nice.” Now he had a completely embarrassed expression on his face.
“Awww don’t be shy. It’s really cute.” Amanda sighed, turning to Brandon. “I don’t know why he’s so shy about everything, especially about the things that he likes.”
“Your hair is really nice. You should grow it out,” Brandon found himself complimenting him, trying to make him feel better.
Matt’s face was reddening more, if possible. “I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“He’s on the swim team. The season’s starting soon and he likes to keep his hair shorter when he competes,” Amanda answered.
Brandon hadn’t known that Matt was a swimmer. He probably should have guessed it based on Matt’s body type. Matt did have a swimmer’s build, wider shoulders and wasn’t scrawny or bulky, but was streamlined. Matt tended to wear baggier clothes that hid himself, but from what Brandon could see he was in good shape.
“Could you wear a swim cap or something?” Brandon asked.
“I guess,” Matt was shifting nervously in his seat and seemed grateful when Tyler approached and took the attention off of him.
“Hey dudes, there’s a party tonight. We’re all going!” Tyler told them.
“We are?” Brandon spoke up, kind of thinking that a party might not be the scene for Amanda and Matt.
Tyler didn’t seem to get the hint. “It’s at Kevin’s. There will be booze and music and everyone’s going. It’ll be awesome.”
“Hey I’m free,” Amanda agreed. “I think we need to relax a little and not be so serious.” She pointedly looked at Matt.
“I think we should go,” Matt agreed. “I can be the designated driver.”
“Matt, I don’t mind not drinking. You should have some fun,” Amanda protested.
“No, it’s okay. I don’t really like to drink anyway. It’s not a big deal.” He looked uncomfortable as he had for most of the lunch period. Brandon felt himself wanting to comfort him, wanted to run his hand down Matt’s back, to soothe him. He didn’t. Instead he pressed his knee against Matt’s under the table, hoping to reassure him.
“Hey that sounds good,” Tyler said. “We could all meet at Brandon’s and leave from there together. I like it.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Brandon agreed.

Brandon preened in front of the mirror. He was wearing dark jeans that were his best fitting pair. He debated on shirts and ended up choosing a very casual, simple black t-shirt. He was debating putting gel in his hair when Tyler burst through the doorway.
“Hey, what’s up,” Tyler flopped on his bed and grinned up at him. “Looking good.”
“So I shouldn’t do my hair?”
“How cute, you’re trying to look good for your boy.”
Brandon chucked the bottle of hair gel at him. “Shut up.”
“But seriously, things seem good between you guys. It’s nice to see you liking someone so much,” Tyler inputted.
“You were right about Matt being a really good guy.”
“But he’s not just some guy right?”
“Tyler…”
“Okay, okay. I won’t push it if you don’t want to talk about him,” Tyler replied with a grin.
Brandon just rolled his eyes at his friend.
It wasn’t long after that Matt and Amanda arrived. They both looked really good. Amanda was wearing a casual blue dress and heels. She was wearing makeup and her hair was done differently than usual.
And Matt.
Matt was wearing new, well fitting jeans, a grey tank top with a green button down shirt that matched Matt’s eyes. His hair was gelled slightly. He looked really nice and was shyly staring at his shoes.
“Hey, you guys look awesome!” Tyler commented, slinging an arm over each of their shoulders. “Are you ready to party?!”
As they got into the car, Amanda nudged Brandon’s arm. “I took Matt shopping. He looks good right?”
“Yeah,” Brandon softly agreed.
She grinned at him.
It didn’t take long for them to arrive at Kevin’s place. People were crowding in through the front and heading towards the back. It was a fairly nice night and most people were gathered on the back deck That’s where the band was.
A familiar band.
Dylan was the front man of this band, his guitar slung by the strap over his shoulder and microphone in front of his face. Brandon hoped he was only imagining that Dylan had noticed him and was performing at him.
“Sorry Brandon, I didn’t realize…” Tyler started.
Brandon interrupted him. “It’s alright. You didn’t know. It’ll be fine.” He tried to manage a smile. “let’s get something to drink.”
Brandon tried to relax and mingle with the party around them. He felt tense. Amanda and Tyler went off on their own, seeing other people they knew and wanted to talk to, but Matt stuck with Brandon, sipping on a coke and looking concerned about Brandon.
Brandon had been tossing back drinks. He had lost track of how many he had drunk.
“Hey, wanna try some rum with that? It’s good.” Brandon offered, trying not to slur his words.
Matt just shook his head. “I’m good thanks.”
“Take a sip of mine?” He held his cup up to Matt’s mouth.
Matt sighed. “Fine.” He took the cup and took a swig. His eyes widened as he swallowed. “Oh.”
“What do you think?”
“It’s kind of nice.”
“Awesome.” Brandon giggled a little and gulped down the rest of his drink.
“Are you sure you should be drinking so much? I think you should stop.”
“I’m fine. I don’t need a babysitter.” He stormed away, trying to lose Matt in the crowd. He grabbed another drink.
A hand grabbed his arm, sloshing his drink as it pulled him below the deck. “Matt, can you just leave me alone.”
“Awwww…you can’t recognize my touch?” Dylan’s gruff voice surprised him.
Brandon tossed off Dylan’s hand. “You leave me alone too.”
Dylan chuckled darkly. “You forget that I know you. Alcohol always makes you so horny,” Dylan leaned in and began to kiss his neck.
For a moment, Brandon almost gave in. “No,” He protested. “Let me go.”
“I don’t think you mean that.”
Brandon began to struggle, but Dylan used his greater height and weight to push Brandon against the wooden deck pillar they were leaning against. Brandon tried to squirm out of his grasp, but Dylan was pressing into him hard, grinding his eager hips against Brandon‘s unwilling ones.
“Get off of my boyfriend!” Matt yanked Dylan away.
Brandon was never happier to see the other boy.
Dylan just laughed. “Boyfriend? He’s nobody’s boyfriend. He’s just a whore. A slut for any willing cock.”
What happened next practically blew Brandon’s mind.
Matt brought his hand back and wailed Dylan hard in the face. There was a resounding crack as Matt connected with Dylan’s nose. Dylan grabbed his face, blood dripping through his hands.
“You broke it!” Dylan yelled.
“Leave Brandon alone or I’ll break something else.” He tugged on Brandon’s arm. “Come on. We’re going.”
Brandon stumbled after him. Still shocked and beyond tipsy. “Why’d you call me your boyfriend?” he slurred.
“I want him to leave you alone.” Matt stopped. “He hurts you and I…I don’t like it.”
Brandon attempted to nudge Matt’s shoulder, but ended up practically falling on him. “You love me, right?”
“Ummm…” Matt looked startled.
Brandon laughed. “It’s okay. I don’t mind.” He leaned in and began to kiss him.
Matt pulled back. “Brandon, stop it.”
“Why?”
“You’re drunk. Come on. Let’s get you home.”
“You’re going to stay with me right?” Brandon leaned against Matt.
“Sure. Come on.”
Matt led Brandon into Kevin’s house, searching for Tyler and Amanda. Tyler found them first.
“Shit Brandon,” were the first words out of Tyler’s mouth.
“Can we just find Amanda and go?” Matt practically demanded.
Tyler nodded. “I’ll find her. You guys go to the car. We’ll meet you there.”
Matt got Brandon to the car and helped him into the passenger seat. Matt sat in the drivers seat, leaning back with his eyes closed.
“You tired?” Brandon asked, he brought a hand up to brush through Matt’s hair.
Matt turned to look at him. “This party was a bad idea. I’m not meant to go to these things.”
“But if you weren’t here, then Dylan would’ve…”
“Please stop talking.”
“I’ll stop talking if you kiss me,” Brandon whispered.
“Brandon…”
“Or if you put your dick in my mouth.”
Matt rubbed his forehead as if he had a headache. “Can you not speak until Tyler and Amanda are back please?”
“I wouldn’t mind blowing you. Have you ever gotten your cock sucked before? I’m good at it and I like…”
Matt cut him off by pressing him mouth to his. It was rougher than the last kiss they shared, Matt moving, not forcefully, but with more confidence, firmer. Brandon opened his mouth like last time, and different from last time, Matt took the invitation.
Brandon moaned softly as Matt’s tongue tentatively touched his. Matt was a sweet kisser. Brandon knew that Matt hadn’t ever done more than this before. It made Matt’s actions hesitant, but curious. Brandon carded his hands through Matt’s hair as he kissed back, directing Matt to move how he liked.
Brandon absolutely loved it.
So when Matt pulled away, he practically whimpered at the loss of contact.
“Can you stop talking now?” Matt’s voice was lower than normal.
“If you stay with me tonight.”
Matt sighed. “Okay.”

Brandon woke up with a pounding headache and a sour taste in his mouth. He was in his bed, but he couldn’t remember how he had gotten there. He tried to remember exactly what happened. He remembered Dylan being at the party and Matt…
Brandon bolted to the toilet just in time to release the contents of his stomach. He leaned his head against the cold porcelain as bits and pieces of memory flashed in his mind.
Oh God.
If he thought Matt hated him for kissing him, Matt had to hate him now. Why was he always doing and saying such stupid things? Offering to blow him? Matt must think that he’s totally insane.
He had known that he shouldn’t drink a lot, but seeing Dylan had thrown him and he wanted to relax. He had just felt so bitter and sad, but didn’t want Dylan’s presence to ruin the party. He had just wanted to have a fun night, and ended up ruining it all by himself.
A hand on his back caused him to yelp and practically jump.
He looked up to see Matt offering him a glass of water. He took it graciously.
“Hey,” Brandon’s voice croaked out, raspy from too much alcohol and being sick.
“Hey yourself, how’re you feeling? Want a Tylenol or something?” Matt asked.
“Sure. You brought me home? And stayed?” Brandon was trying to catch up on events, but still felt behind.
“Yeah. I slept on your couch. I…was worried.” Matt still looked pretty concerned. “Are you okay.”
“Just hung over. I’m probably going to throw up again. Do you mind waiting in the kitchen please?” He was beyond embarrassed, mortified and didn’t need for Matt to see him vomiting on top of everything else.
“Yeah, do you want me to make you toast or something?” Matt offered.
“Ummm…sure.”
As Matt left, Brandon rested his head against the toilet bowl once more. He was remembering a bit more, things that he said…
Wow, he was more clichéd than a movie that was a teen drama.
A Lifetime channel movie.
His life had become a Lifetime channel movie. He could practically see the titles: ‘Trying Times of Gays at Prescott High’ or ‘The Secret Lives of Gays’ …oh God no.
While he secretly enjoyed watching Lifetime movies sometimes, like that one where all the kids contracted syphilis that was a funny one, he had never wanted his life to ever resemble one in any way.
Brandon cleaned himself up, and slowly shuffled out of the bathroom and made his way into the kitchen. Matt looked up when he came in.
“Feeling better?” Matt asked.
“A little.” Brandon sat in front of Matt at the table. He decided to cut right to the chase. “Matt, I’m really sorry about last night. I made you uncomfortable and I didn’t mean to.”
“Hey it’s okay. I was worried because you were drinking so much. I know that what you said, you didn’t really mean.” Matt gave him a small smile. “It was actually pretty funny. Well, if it didn’t happen to us. If it was in a movie, it would be hilarious.”
“The Young and the Homosexual,” Brandon muttered.
“What?” Matt laughed, a little confused.
“Never mind. You’re really not mad?” Brandon wanted to make certain of Matt’s feelings.
Matt shrugged. “I’m not mad. I mean, at the time, I felt kind of awkward, but I know you wouldn’t be like that if you were sober.”
“You don’t think I would? You sure?” Brandon joked.
Matt laughed. “Brandon…”
“Ummm…but seriously Matt. I want to say thanks, for what you did with Dylan and looking out for me.”
“I kind of enjoyed it actually, you know, hitting him.” Matt blushed.
Brandon laughed. “You really are the best boyfriend ever.”
“Only for you, baby.”
Brandon relaxed and they spent the morning together.
