Casting Shadows

Meanwhile Veronica sat a constant vigil with Jamie who was asleep on the bed in one of the bedrooms in the suite that had been rented in the city. Tristan noticed Robert and his father out on the balcony and went out to join them. At thirty-three years old Robert McKagan looked too young to be married and settled down with two kids. However, even now, he seemed worried. Jamie and what happened at the mansion was the topic of conversation. Robert's handsome visage showed concern as well as lack of sleep. Andrew was out there as well trying to provide what comfort he could. Daryien approached the two men carefully.
"You know there is more to Jamie and those kids than you are letting on, Robert." Daryien said, "I have seen some unusual things in my time, but it was nothing like what Tristan said he saw last night. Now what is the story here?"
"I am afraid that it is something you would not understand or be comfortable with." Andrew replied, "Suffice it to say, if the wrong people got wind of them, no one would be safe from the trouble that would follow."
"I have a right to know the truth because my kids have the same special abilities." Daryien said, "I can promise you that what is revealed will stay between us. My family and I want to fully be apart of protecting those kids."
"From the day she was born we knew that she and her brother were extra special." Robert explained, "But we did not know how special until Andrew cast the runes and revealed what he had learned."
"She was born with the mark of Thor as well as his powers." Andrew said, "I know that because of Jamie losing control of herself and letting go of her lightning beam. She discovered her powers and abilities much sooner than expected."
"We need your help in order to train the kids to control and use their powers wisely." Robert added, "It is important that we start their training as soon as possible."
"If the wrong people get wind of the children and their powers, they could be exploited for evil purposes." Veronica added, "They must be protected at all costs. I prayed that God would send us some help where the kids were concerned then you showed up at the photo shoot with your family. I should have known you were the answer to my prayers."
"So how does the kids having these powers and abilities set them apart from everyone else in the world? I do not understand any of this mess." Daryien replied, "No, I take that back, I do understand more than you know Thunderis."
"We learned that they are the reincarnations of Reimeiko and Aaron Thunderis." Veronica said, "They are Thor's heirs to the thrones of Thunderia and Galaxian Alliance. It is absolutely imparative that the kids are protected especially Jamie and that means keeping her powers very secret."
"I do not mean to drown the conversation." Andrew announced, "But before we go out and start the children's training, we could all use a good night's sleep. We will not know what happened at ThunderStar until Jamie wakes up." Without another word, the families turned in for the night, but Tristan found that he could not sleep, so he opened his journal and began to write.
My family and I have come across a very special family. Each one deals with Jamie's special abilities in their own way. Robert and Andrew remind me of me, Jordan, dad, and Uncle Geno. It is true that they fight, but then again so does my family and me. But it never fails, when we need each other we are always there for each other. Veronica has kept a constant vigil with Jamie who is still very much unconscious. What get me the most is, in addition to playing the role of mother to all of the kids, she is also their best friend as well as their comfort and moral support.
"Mom, why did this happened to Jamison?" Randall asked, "Why would anyone want to attack and destroy my sister? This does not make any sense to me. What is happening? I do not understand?"
"It is alright my son." Veronica replied, "We will not know what to do until your sister wakes up and is able to recollect herself and what happened."
"Jamie is going to be alright is she not, Mom?" Randall asked. Veronica was at a loss for words for the first time since I met her and her family. Andrew, for the most part is unusual, but his love and devotion to and for his family is completely genuine and true.
"Make sure that when you pull back the string, your hand is in line with your mouth." Andrew instructed, "Make sure you have the tension both in your arm and the bow string."
Randall's young face lit up as the arrow hit the bullseye. Veronica was watching the scene with concern and admiration. Although she believed that her son was too young to be learning how to use the weapons, she also knew that even if anything should happen to them, Andrew would alsways be there for Jamie and her brother. Robert shows the signs of a true patriarch. He shows strength, love and true leadership and that is because he leads with his heart. Over the last few days alone, I have seen him shine where his family devotion is concerned and that means a great deal. Jamie woke up this morning fully refreshed and ready to face the whole new day. After Breakfast was done and the kitchen was cleaned, Andrew and Robert began teaching the kids their lessons. The McKagans are reunited but they are still not completely whole; a lingering doubt remains, an unknown they can not bear to face: their greatest fear, which in this case is Jamie falling into the wrong hands. Watching everyone wrestle and tangle perfecting their skills in hand to hand combat as well as their powers and everything else taught me how truly important life really is. I find a very special bond forming between Jamie and myself that I can not shake or even want to. I know that I will not always be there to protect her from harm, but I know that we will be connected forever.
"Come on Tristan, you are apart of this group too." Daryien called, "We do not want a repeat of four nights ago. We were not prepared but this time we will be."
"I am coming Dad." Tristan said.
He put his journal into his bag and joined the others. Unknown to the kids and their parents, they were being watched by a figure in the shadows. Cathmor watched as the kids practiced their weapon and hand to hand combat, but he did not see anything to indicate any of them had special powers. Robert felt the sudden presence of an outsider but blew it off when when it disappeared as quickly as it came.
"Colby, I want you to double security around here for the sake of the children's safety." Robert ordered, "I do not want any sudden break ins like there was several nights ago."
"Yes sir, I will get on it right away." Colby said.
October thirtieth: Veronica and her group are going out of town to promote the new book series and of course Jamie is having serious trouble accepting her mother's constant increasing absences from home. It is beginning to ride seriously hard on their relationship.
"What is wrong Sweetheart?" Veronica asked, "Jamison, this is my career, I will not be gone long and you would not want me to miss a concert would you?"
"Why do you have to go away all of the time?" Jamie demanded, "If you love us you will not go. I can not shake this bad feeling that we will never see you again. Please do not go, or at least take another means."
"I do love you Jamie believe me." Veronica said, "I have got to go, give me a hug and kiss. We will talk more about this when I get back from this tour. Good-bye everyone, I will see you when I get back."
Veronica boarded the airplane and looked back at her family one last time before the door closed behind her. Jamie knew she would never see her mother again in this form. Her fears were justified when a serious call from the airport police came into ThunderStar less than two days after Veronica's plane left. Robert, Tristan and the kids went to where the plane had gone down and crashed. The news the police officer brought was not good and Robert knew his wife was gone and would never return.
"Ronni dead? She was killed in a plane crash. How in the world can I go on through life without her?" Robert asked, "This just feels like nothing but a very bad nightmare."
"I can not believe she is gone and we will never see her again." Jamie sobbed into Tristan's embrace.
November 16th: It has been three weeks since my beloved Veronica died. Except for the children and the Llewellyns it seems that life has lost all meaning. I feel as though I lost the other half of my life. I never understood what that really meant until Veronica was no longer around. I know that she has returned to her life as Kyiandra and I will join her soon.
"Daddy, can we talk to you?" Jamie asked, "We have all been talking and all of us kids will take care of the house, cook, clean, take care of the yard and everything, please do not send all of the other kids away."
"Jamie, of course I will not send them away." Robert said, "You all are the finest children a father could ever ask for. Ronni, you taught them well. I feel like I now have a reason to live again."
May thirty-first nineteen eighty-seven I have an idea to put together music and three dimentional holograms. I will be able to recreate live musical preformances in the home of every music fan in America. It comforts me that Jamie and Tristan are inseparable. At least he will be there if she needs him as well as Randall and the others. I have made some amazing discoveries with my computer generated holograms. I will have to find a new place to work on the system. I need more privacy and quiet for the delicate tasks ahead. For privacy, Andrew, Daryien, and I have moved my workshop to ThunderStar Warehouse. I have given my computer a name: Serenity. I must protect Serenity until I can patent my holographic advancements a proceedure that could take years. I must hire someone to help my brother oversee my affairs as the company. I feel tired lately. I had better see my doctor.
