Chapter 3

“I TOLD you not to get dressed!!” the worm cried in his mind as Hank ran “Now they know who and what we are!!”
“And what are we?!” Hank snapped back mentally, angrily.

“We are traitors, they do not know about the prophecy! Faster!!”
“I’m going as fast as I can! Stop bitching and help me!!”
“I can not, I am too weak. Maybe if I was stronger....”

“So now it’s MY fault because I wouldn’t let you union?!!” Hank snapped at it. “YES!” the worm shot back in his head “I told you we needed it!”

“You mean YOU....” Hank started to say, when he gave a cry and fell. His foot had caught on a root and his ankle twisted under him. His head struck a tree trunk hard, causing him to black out for a few seconds. The worm cried out in his head in fear, and quickly brought him to.

But too late, they were surrounded.

Hank’s head throbbed where he had struck it, his ankle sending out waves of agony and even a small movement caused it to increase. He tried to stand and collapsed back with a moan of pain, it refused to take his weight and his head throbbed. A bout of dizziness and pain striking him.

Three grabbed him and while one stripped him the other three held him as he struggled and cursed loudly. The pain in his ankle and head nothing to the knowledge that if he let them do this then his soul would be lost, and the worms. They’d both be enslaved and made to get more people like Sara.

A naked woman approached him and swayed her hips seductively, breasts high and erect and inner thighs already wet and ready for him.

He felt himself rise in response.

“What are you doing?!” he thought desperately to the worm, hearing it gasp in pain and manage “It is not me, they are. There is an free Higher nearby who is controlling me, and I am too weak to fight it.” Hank could feel the truth he spoke for he could feel it fighting desperately. But like him he was overpowered.

Hank gasped in pain and horror as the woman sucked him for a few minutes, teasing them both. Then she rose and slid her opening down over him, all the way to the hilt. His member slid all the way up inside her, enclosed by her hot and tight wetness. Slowly she began to move up and down over him, harder and faster as he tried to struggle free. The longer they went the more desperate he became, knowing what would happen when he came.

Suddenly he realised in her and cried out in pain and fear, collapsing in the others grips and weak. He held back a cry as she drew off, but tried to get free desperately and terrified as they laid him on the ground, holding the free Higher to him.

“NOOOO!” the worms mental scream was echoed by Hanks when they placed it on his chest, slowly making it’s way towards Hank’s still erect frozen member. His entire body quaked in fear, affected by the Lower’s hysteria.

Suddenly a bolt of silver came from nowhere, impaling the Higher and embedding itself in a tree trunk three feet away. The controlled ones released him and turned to find a group of dressed men in army browns and greens. About eight altogether they were holding either guns or bows and arrows, one with an crossbow he was just lowering.

While a fight issued between the groups Hank lay where he was, weak from relief and fighting to calm his other down. He tried to cease its hysteria “it’s all right. We’re safe. It’s dead. We’re safe.”

“Are you sure we are safe, my host?”

“From the others, yes I am. Humans I can handle. Don’t speak or move, stay still.” His member tingled as the worm moved inside him, going soft and it managed a short laugh “Yes sir.”

“I’m not kidding.”

Soon all the controlled ones’ were dead and one man approaching Hank slowly, the same one who had shot the Higher with the arrow. Hank had managed to roll onto his side and was trying to get his arms under him but he hadn’t realised just how weak he was.

The man knelt beside him, gently taking his shoulders in his small hands. “Easy, take it slowly. They almost got you. If we hadn’t of heard your cry we wouldn’t have found you in time, but we did. Take it slowly.”

“Who.....” Hank managed to gasp out “Who are you?”
“Tevlin Jacobs. A member of Double F, Freedom Force. And you are?”
“Hank Andrews. I twisted my foot and fell, otherwise they wouldn’t have got me.”

“Let me have a look at that.” The man took his leg and straightened it out so he could look at it closely, his cold fingers gently probing the flesh around it. He listened to the noises and reaction Hank let off as he did and another man coming up to their sides. He said “his foreheads bleeding too.”

“Bandage it then would you Seth?”

The other man nodded and pressed a pad of cloth to the wound, using an thin bandage to hold it on. Hank suddenly cursing loudly as the man, Tevlin, moved his foot slowly to the side. “I’m afraid this is broken cleanly,” he said to Hank softly “if our situation wasn’t so severe I’d suggest you go straight to the nearest hospital. But they’re all probably Sex Zombies by now.”

Hank was about to speak when a dizziness and weakness hit him. Before he could question the worm about it he blacked out, collapsing back into the mans’ arms.

* * * *

Hank came slowly too to hear a soft but familiar voice repeating “Wake up, wake up, wake up.”

At first he thought it was some human was saying it and then he remembered the worm. “Thanks” he moaned as he slowly sat up, hand pressed to his forehead hard in pain. “Woah mumma, what a head ringer. What caused that, AL?”

“An draw-back of the Highers’ control earlier, we both almost shut down. I needed you out so I could concentrate on our healing, and I could not get it if you wasted the little energy we had. But the union fortunately gave some strength. Check.”

Hank reached up and pushed the bandage and cloth off his head and checked the cut and bump. Nothing, not a mark, not even a scar. However his ankle still throbbed and felt hot.

“It will take longer to heal” the worm explained, “The human bones are so tricky. Reknitting bone to bone is difficult, especially making it as strong as before. I think you better look around.”

Hank did and gasped in horror. They were in a plain white locked room. A naked young woman was in a corner opposite him, cringing from him. Looking down he found that he was also naked.

“What happened!? We were rescued! Where are those men?! AL?!”

“I know not, my host. I see; hear; smell; taste and sense with your senses, with your mind. When you were cut from your contact with the outside world I lost contact as well. Besides, I was too busy concentrating on our healing to worry about it. I think, however, that they got us back and are trying to break us.”

* * * *

“But how could that be? You said yourself that you have one of THEM, how could you be free?”

“Three reasons. One is a person needs two, a lower and higher to fully control them. I only have AL, a lower, who could only control me during sex if I let him. Since the lower controls all sexual activities and a higher controls both the lower and host he can’t do it. Second is I’m different to you, genetically I’m stronger. Third is AL refuses to do and believe what they do, he and I are a rebel.”

“Why?”

“AL says it’s because they separated him from his mate, tried to use her to threaten him into doing what they want. He won’t let them threaten him into ruining another beings life. So when they told him he’d have to do it he made sure it was me, because I’m different and he knew he could get away with being himself with me. He knew that I’d eventually accept what he was, especially if he didn’t force me to do what he needs and was open and honest to me.”

The girl frowned “but how do you know he’s telling the truth and not just using you?”

“For what? He could have stuffed my feelings and made me a Zombie like the others but he didn’t. Besides, he can’t force me. I resist a lot more successfully than others, and I could sense if he lied to me.”

“How?”

“I’d be like lying to myself. I’m no good at it and others can tell when I lie.” He grinned, “I was a Real Estate Agent. You’d be surprised how many sales I lost because of it.”

“Then how did you make ANY sales at all?”
“People appreciated my honesty.”

Suddenly Hank winced and briefly clutched his stomach. The girl, who had introduced herself earlier as Hellena Wildflower-or just Elena, saw it and looked concerned and frightened. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” he said.
“You’re right” she said softly “you can’t lie very well. Tell me.”

“An side-affect of the highers control earlier” he lied. “If those men hadn’t of helped us earlier I, we rather, would either be dead or controlled utterly. We’d be grabbing other people like they did us. The fight between ALs’ mind and mine and the control of the higher almost killed us.”

But as the hours went by and his pain increased steadily it became harder to hide from her. Her begging to know why and the pain was eventually getting to him. “What’s wrong? Tell me the truth, please!?”

Finally he weakened and said “All right. AL and I need to ‘union’ regularly to survive. Without the hormones released by sex with an partner the worm in me is dying, and I’ll follow.” The girl looked frightened and concerned for him “can’t I do anything to help?”

“Only if I had food to gain strength so my body can produce the hormones, AL could absorb them. The only other way is to, you know, but I won’t so unless I escape and find a mateless woman I won’t last. Don’t worry, I won’t touch you.”

“But if it’ll help you.....”

“NO!” Hank snapped “I can’t, not to you or anyone free! Don’t you see, that’s why they put you in here with me. To break me, but I won’t. I WON’T BREAK!!” He had to grit his teeth as he grew hard against his will.

“You’re other wants to” Elena said, noticing it “and how will you prevent his touching me?”

Hank managed to turn away and look at the wall. He went soft, but had to grit his teeth with the effort for control. ”I’ll stop him, he won’t force me.”

“Please,” said a voice in his head, pain and weakness he wasn’t feeling yet edging it. “She is willing, take her or we die.”
Elena came up behind him and started massaging his tense shoulders gently. She spoke softly and luringly, unconsciously mirroring the worms’ words. “Please, let me help you. Take me, or you’ll die.”

“NO!” Hank cried weakly as he felt himself growing hard again as the worm gathered it’s strength to attack her. Managing to push her away he stumble to a corner and bent at the waist, gripping his stomach in agony as he brought up blood.

When he seemed finally empty he collapsed, the worms scream echoing in his ears.
He laid still.

* * * *

Slowly he became aware.

It was black and he had the sensation of floating, and when he managed to move one arm it moved slowly with difficulty. But it wasn’t with weakness but something encasing him completely, yet he could breathe comfortably. As more sensation returned to him he felt something pressed over his face-to his cheeks and inside his nose. When he opened his mouth something filled it.

He found it was water with something lacing it, something herbal. But why was water surrounding him? What had happened? Where was he and why couldn’t remember? His mind was clouded and blank, his groin tight and numb.

Something came back to him and he remembered something that had happened to him when he had been young. As a child he had once gone on holiday with his parents and had fallen through a thin layer of ice and into a freezing lake. He had lived-barely, but since then had been terrified of being submerged, even as warn and soothing as this. He couldn’t swim in pools or even completely underwater in a bathtub-it all ways brought back memories of that experience.

Now with water surrounding him he began to panic, body thrashing about in blind terror. His memories of the experience flashed again and again in his head, blurring past with present.

He vaguely heard voices distorted through the water, telling him to calm down and lay still. He ignored them, at the mercy of his phobia. Then, distinctly, a voice boomed in his head. It echoed in his ears and his groin sent waves of agony through him. It caused him to curl up in the water around himself protectively “LAY STILL!!!”

His moan of pain send up air bubbles. He could not understand inside himself why he had this pain or what the voice was, where it had come from. “Lay still” it repeated, much gentler this time. Too weak and confused to speak or try to form a thought he just floated there. But somehow the voice knew his questions. “You do not remember?”

“Remember what?” he tried to say. He felt a wave of fear go through him, someone elses’ fear and concern for something he couldn’t understand. “How must of the past few weeks do you remember?”

He frowned mentally, past few weeks? What did he mean? He had left home for a week or so to attempt to sell a house and the next thing he knew he was in agony and underwater. Had he been attacked and thrown into a river somewhere and his injured body imagining this voice in order to keep him sane-or worse-the opposite?!

“I assure you I am as real as you are” the voice said “You and I are a part of each other, we share one body and mind. We are one.” He frowned in confusion, what the hell was he talking about and why did it hurt so much to think?

The voice sighed “I can see you can not or will not remember. Perhaps our near-miss caused more than the physical damage I thought before. Sleep, my host, sleep deeper than you ever have before.”

* * * *

“Hank? Hank are you there? Hank come out, please. Let me know you’re alive.” Slowly, agonisingly the eyes opened. But instead of black with pupils of red they were flushed completely red, glowing weakly and disappearing for a few seconds every time he blinked.

The men gasped and backed up, a familiar figure grasping Elenas’ shoulders and attempting to pull her away. “The alien entity is in control!!”

“He won’t hurt us” Elena pulled free and moved closer “Isn’t that right, AL. Or is everything you told Hank lies?”
“It is true” AL said through Hanks’ body, speaking with his mouth as he saw through his eyes “I do not lie.”

“Why are you in control? Hank would never let you be dominate. What have you done to him?”

“My host was damaged more than I thought when we nearly shut down. I am struggling to repair all the damage. I thought I had it, but it seems some mental damage escaped my attention. It is hard piecing together his mind and soul properly when there is parts he has never before allowed me access to. I do not know what it is I am repairing, I am `flying blind’ as you say. It is like having three jigsaw puzzles laid out in front of you, all the same colour. I do not know what go where, it will take some time.”

“What can we do to help?” Elena asked.

“The hormones I need from my host for the energy to do this is more than his body can produce. I shall need a steady supply to allow me only have to worry about my work.”

The man who pulled Elena back came forward cautiously “We just keep pumping you both with Endorphin and you take care of everything else?”

“Yes.”
“What if you need more than we’re giving you?”

The worm hesitated so long they thought he hadn’t heard, so the man repeated his question. “I heard” it said “I was thinking. What if I was to do this?”

Everyone expected something more, well, along the lines of a Zombies’ act. So were surprised when Hanks’ left hand tapped on the bench he was laid out on. “The more urgent the need, the harder I will tap.” To illustrate he tapped harder and faster, then stopped.

“That will help a great deal. What happened before? When we had you in the herbal bath? Why did you panic?”

“That was not I, it was my host. He came too briefly when I was busy working on our damage and distracted. He was distant and confused, he can not remember anything within the last twenty-one days. I am unsure if his soul merely decided it was too terrible to remember for his own good, or if it is result of the near-loss. However, since we are now two souls and one mind and body I shall do everything I can to repair it and help him remember all he has lost.”

“What if you can’t?” Elena asked. “I do not know,” he said truthfully.
“That still doesn’t explain his panic” one man at the back said softly.
“That’s right” Elena said, “AL, can you tell us why he panicked?”

The alien hesitated a few minutes then said “When my host was a......child he fell through ice and into freezing water. He almost shut down before those who birthed him were able to pull him out. That pain and terror he felt then has come back every time he puts himself fully underwater, and has even prevented him learning to swim.”

“A...what is it...Aquaphobia? I never knew Hank had a phobia.”
“No offence Elena, but you don’t know him at all” the man said to her.

“I know enough to know he’s truthful and he-or AL wouldn’t try to hurt us.”

“We accept that” the man nodded “you don’t need to preach his goodness to us. We wouldn’t be here and trying to help if we didn’t believe.”

Hank’s eyes half-closed “I must start now, while I have a chance.”
“Go ahead” they said with a nod.
The eyes closed like lead bricks.

Over the next few days Hanks’ hand often tapped for more of the hormone, once or twice urgently. The doctors would then rush to inject him and scans of his body showed both the groin and the brain were unusually hot with activity. Yet his skin was normal body temperature.

After five days Elena was getting impatient with the fact he wasn’t reacting, wasn’t waking up. Despite the doctors warnings to let him sleep she one day came to his bedside and shook him, saying his name until the eyes opened.

But they were red, not black and that made her even more worried and determined to talk to him.
“What is it?” he moaned “Why did you disturb us? I can not heal us if you awaken us at crucial moments.”

“How is it going, AL? We all need to know if it’s working.”
His eyes slitted in suspicion “that is not why you disturbed us.”

“That’s why I......”
“I can tell lies girl. I lived with it with my kind promising to not harm my mate if I did as they wanted.”

“What do you mean?” Elena frowned “you think she’s dead, don’t you.”

“After betraying them they would do so. I can no longer feel her. If that happens, she either has been destroyed or something has happened so Hank blocks my link to her.”

“You’re link?”

“How do you think separated mates find each other? We are soulmates, we love each other with our life-blood. We were born of the same batch of eggs at the same time and our souls are joined by our love.”

“So you DO love her” Elena said softly “and they separated you both and tried to use you.”

“Yes, they did” and the look on his face showed the raw emotion before he was able to cover it up. “She was and still is all in this world worth existing to me.” Elena nodded and he looked at her sharply, as if sensing her feelings. “You feel the same for my host. Why?”

“I....I don’t know” she admitted “I don’t know what I feel. I mean I care deeply for him, but I’ve just been in a bad relationship and......”

“You do not want to risk it again” AL supplied “If you admit it to him, he may reject you. Especially after Sara.”

“Yes” she was surprised at how well he could read her “am I that obvious?”
“Only to those who have experienced the same,” he answered.
“You? I thought.....”

“Not I, my host. What he knows, I know. What he has experienced, I have experienced. It is part of our link with each other. The same goes for the other way around.”

“You mean Hank will know what it’s like to travel in space and that sort of thing. What it’s like to possess another?”

“Yes, there is no half-link, we must fully immerge ourselves in each others minds, souls and bodies. Including their memories and experiences. Only the others overpower the hosts minds and wipe it clean so they can dominate, only those with a higher and lower. I share myself with him, as he does with me.”

“I though you said Hank was hiding part of his mind and soul from you?”

“He was. But after this if I am successful at rebuilding him properly, he shall learn not to do it again. Do not worry, I will not tell my host of your feelings until you know yourself what you are feeling.”

Elena thanked him and asked softly “would you ever....would you ever mate again with someone else? Other than your mate.”

“No” he said honestly, but then quickly added “but that does not mean my host would not. Just I would not take another of my kind as a mate to replace my love. You see I would never feel right about it. I have already given my heart and soul to my love, anyone else after that would feel empty.”

This only proved to Elena all the more that AL was telling the truth, his matter-of-fact statement of his dedication and love. His\Hanks’ eyes half-closed and he said “I must end this now before I loose any information. When we next awake it shall be Hank who is dominant again.” He looked at her meaningfully “IF I am successful.”
