Dazzling lady in the mirror

Basia felt slightly guilty from upsetting Nikolaus. She wouldn't be here for long anymore, and Nikolaus had done a lot for her even if they had different views on what was best for her. After leaving Tower she wouldn't be restricted by people she respected, so it shouldn't be too hard to obey for now. Maybe she would find a way to study in Miras's academy and have him think she is doing something else. Cassie wouldn't be tricked that easily though, considering how often she visited Miras to do business.

"Oh. My. Gods. This dress is perfect!" Cassie squealed and spun around and the dazzling lady in the mirror did the same. The matte purple dress clung to her curves; the cut was unusual but fortunately not from previous seasons. "I'll take this in matte purple and sparkling silver." She dug out her purse and then saw the shoes on the other end of the shop.

She had already bought shoes for the celebration weeks, five different pairs actually, but maybe she could have different shoes for meeting different people during one day. That black pair would be perfect for meeting the high priest. Classy but not too modest, after all she couldn't fool anyone here. She was clearly too keen on saving money and closet space, she thought when she grabbed the black shoes and then added silvery ballerinas, which weren't really her style but she had a point to make here.

She paid for the clothes and proceeded to a nearby teahouse to find someone to help her with the bags and boxes she had almost accidentally dropped even before this shop. It didn't take long when a young soldier on a leave came to hit on her. She wasn't all that interested in soldier boys but now there wouldn't be need to hire a carriage. Plus she could really use the exercise. She chuckled and treated herself another chocolate almond.
