Finding Sam again
“Hello and thank you for calling Book Stash, how may I help you?” The woman on the other end of the line sounded like a recording.
“Uh, yeah I was wondering if there was a woman named Sam working there.” Bella had called over two dozen places if this wasn’t the place then she would call it quits.
“No ma‘am I’m sorry.” Bella cursed under her breath and was about to hang up the phone when the other woman started talking again.
“Sam only works weekdays she will be back on Monday. Do you want me to leave a message for her?”
Bella smiled gleefully “No thank-you but could you tell me what time she starts and gets off?”
“Let me see.” Bella could hear the woman ruffle through some papers. “Ah here it is. It says here that she starts at nine but she normally arrives an hour before her shift.
“Ok thank-you so much you have been a great deal of help.” Bella hung up the phone without giving the other woman a chance to say anything else.
Bella put her cell phone back in her purse and continued eating her lunch her mind wondering from Sam and back to matters at work. If she didn’t pull a miracle out of her ass, and soon, or she would be fired for sure this time.
At five-O-clock Bella stretched and threw her pen on the desk. Finally her work was done and she could go home. She packed her things in her brief case and said good by to her cubical-mate and walked out the door. Heading to her favorite after-work-coffee shop, Bella started humming a tune, she had asked for tomorrow off. Monday. Hopefully she would see Sam, see how she was if she was better and if she was alright.
Although she didn’t know why Bella felt that it was her duty to some how help Sam out of whatever dilemma she was in.
