Dealing With It

Chapter Four: Dealing With It
____________

Haha, finally... Chapter Four.
Sorry it took so long to get this one up!
And again, responses for my lovely reviewers...

Young Sage: Haha... yeah... as I said, some of this still seems like it was written by a highschool sophomore...
That's when I started writing it, after all. I've been working on this story for a while now. >.>;;
So with the sitting down and standing up thing... well... yeah.
Haha, when I went through this chapter after copy+pasting it I edited it while thinking in my head, "New person speaking, new paragraph." Haha, it's my mantra. So hopefully, the format for this chapter is a big improvement. If it's not, then... I just fail.
I'm just glad that you're showing enough interest in my story and in my growth as an author to help this far...
so thanks so much for the "constant whining/constructive criticism/tough love".

kordavamennemer: O LOL.
Felix would kiss his ass! Just not in public, remember? xD
Yeah, I really hate Greg's character. But I love hating it.
He basically reminds me of every annoying prep-bully I've encountered in my life...
Incredibly annoying, oblivious, and cowardly as all hell.
And so of course Felix kicks his ass. It was a great way for me to show more of his personality, anyhow.
And the move that he uses with Greg, that's an actual move that I was taught for defense.
xD

Jet Levy: I'm so glad you read it, and even more happy that you liked it!
Yeah, the title was a big part of why I was afraid to put the story up, just because of how people might take it.
This story was originally created as an outlet for me, since I was a sophomore when I started writing this...
Being the only queer one at my all-girl's school really wasn't too fun. I wanted to create a story that really explored homosexuality in a single-sex environment... and then it just escalated from there.
And I have a bit of trouble with the group. I don't want to make them a big group of faceless beings that just follow Felix and Mark around on their escapades, but... you know, there's a ton of them. So...
I try my best to give them their own fifteen seconds of fame, so that they actually exist. I'm glad it's worked out so far, though!

____________

Felix just smirked and watched as Greg left, his few cronies in tow. After he was satisfied with his work, he turned around. Mark and the rest of his gang started to cheer, giving him high-fives, pats on the back, and words of praise.

“Man, Kitty knows how to fight!”

“Lieberman just walked away with his tail between his legs!”

“Teach me how to do that, fairy!”

After a bit, Felix stepped away from the group.
“I think this calls for some celebration, fellas!” He pulled a walkman out of his back pack, along with some speakers. He set it up, put the volume up to max, and turned on the music. After a few seconds, some good ol’ funk music started up and filled their section of the courtyard.
Felix turned around, putting his back to the group. As the introduction music went on the boys began to snicker, knowing Felix would do something highly amusing. As the beat became more distinctive and the bass vibrated through the surroundings, Felix began to rock his hips to the rhythm. He turned around, a sultry smirk dancing across his features. Mark couldn’t help but watch in awe as the underclassman put a balled hand close to his mouth, pretending to wield a microphone as the singing started. His voice overpowered the one coming out of the speakers, and it was obvious that he had changed a few words.

“He’s a very kinky boy…
The kind you don’t bring home to mother.
He will never let your spirits down…
Once you get him off the streets!”

He stopped singing, yet continued to dance as the other boys whooped and hollered some more. Mark just watched on, trying his best not to focus on the hips that seemed to be swinging in his face. But then they were no longer there. Instead, they were right next to him a long with the rest of Felix’s body.

“Come on, Marky-poo… Dance with Kitty!”

Mark smirked, giving into temptation, and grabbed Felix’s hands. They danced together, swinging each other around their corner of the courtyard while the rest of their group and a small crowd of curious onlookers watched.
“Oh, aren’t we the attention whore?” Felix cocked a slender brow.
Mark shrugged, twirling the other boy into him. “Nope. I just like to let loose every couple of days or so.”
Felix was twirled back out. “Well, this is a perfect way to let loose, if I do say so myself. I didn’t know the big bad boss-man could dance.”
Mark shrugged again as he continued to twirl and lead the other boy around the courtyard. “Eh… A talent I sorta picked up. I never thought it’d come in handy, though.”
Felix chuckled. “Well, you thought wrong, buddy.” As the ending note came up, Mark pulled Felix in towards him again. Felix ended the dance with a quick bumping of the hips that fell in sync with the ending beat of the song.
Mark felt an unfamiliar warmth flood his face, and he knew he was blushing. Felix just winked and went to retrieve his walkman and speakers.
“Jeez, Mark. Looks like you worked up a sweat… your face is all red!” Mark sighed inwardly. ‘Good… they aren’t catching on…’ He had known that he was drawn to the underclassman the first time he saw the boy reach the top step onto the courtyard. He had gone to greet the kid, but had stopped when Felix was about half a foot away. He was about to introduce himself, but Felix had ended up walking right into him.
It was at that moment he had come to grips with the fact that he liked a boy. But not just any boy, no… he liked Felix Shattner. ‘And if anyone had a problem with that, they’d just have to deal with it.’ A few minutes after their celebration, the bell had rung and they had all walked to their next classes; Felix and Mark had Geometry.

By the end of the week, almost the whole high school knew of Felix. They knew of his place in Mark’s posse, they knew of his sexuality, and they knew of his fiery, spontaneous personality. It was finally Friday, and the group was currently lounging about on the concrete steps in front of the student drop-off.
“Hey, fellas.” They all looked up at Felix.
“Lemme ask you something. Why’d you accept me into your group?”
all the boys looked at each other, and then laughed. “Felix, Felix, Felix… you naïve little fairy…” the underclassman turned around to see Mark as he put his arm around his shoulder in a buddy-buddy sort of way. “You’re a force to reckon with, you’ve got an attitude that could beat mine, you’re spontaneous, funny, and you’re fuckin’ rad. Deal with it, kitty. You’re stuck with us.”

Felix feigned disappointment, snapping his fingers. “Tch… darn… I was hoping you wouldn’t say that.” he winked, leaning back against the pole that held up the banister. A bright blue convertible pulled up, and the boys looked on as a woman wearing a black, boat-neck collared shirt and black capri pants waved at them. On her head she wore a black beret and she wore fashionable black cat eye sunglasses.
“Felix, hurry your butt up. We’re already late as it is.” Felix rolled his eyes. “Cool it, Ma. I’m coming.” He then turned to the rest of his friends. “Alrighty, boys. Duty calls.” He grabbed his back pack and strode up to the convertible. He hopped in, and waved as they drove off.
Mark waved back until the car was no longer visible.

“Hey, Mark.”

The upperclassman turned around to his followers. “What?”
One of his buddies threw an arm around his shoulder. “You have the hots for Kitty there, dontcha?”
Mark blinked, taken aback by the question. “Um… I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
They all rolled their eyes. “Suuure you don’t. It’s written all over your face! Its ok, man… it’s not like we’ll go ape-shit nuts if you like him.”
Mark shrugged. “Aw, fuck it... yeah, I like the guy.”
The boys cheered, giving Mark a few words of encouragement, friendly noogies, high-fives, and pats on the back.
“Here’s to coming out of the closet, Mark.”
Mark just shook his head. “Fuck that. I'm not gay, just bisexual.”
Mark felt a hand push him slightly, giving the impression that the owner of said hand was skeptical.
“Hahaha… yeah… keep telling yourself that, Seiler!”
Mark just shook his head. “No… really. If anyone questions my sexuality, that’s the answer I’ll be giving them.”

A/N: Augh...
This chapter had me especially nervous. I keep feeling like my work seems too juvenile.
I don't know, maybe it's just me. I'm trying hard to help this story mature with me, but...
I feel like it's uber fail. I'm just glad I have such great readers and reviewers, you guys are the best.
Honestly, as I was reading this, I kept cringing. But at the same time, there are some parts that I like in this chapter.
Like when they danced.
xD
Mark has hidden talents!
They'll come into play later, as well.
<3
Alright, well...
I hope you guys aren't completely put off by this chapter...
