Liverpool, England - 1852

William held his lover to his chest, silent crystal tears trailing down his cheeks as he knelt in the hay of the barn they had run to. His large hands trailed over his frail lover’s skin, fingertips trembling as his skin grew colder as each moment passed. Blood stained both of their clothes, though none of it was William’s. All of the crimson life came from his dying lover, spilling between their bodies from the gunshot wound in his chest.

A sob escaped William’s lips as his lover finally went limp in his arms, his last rasping breath escaping his mouth in a whisper. William leaned down, pressing his lips to his lover’s red ones, his long brown hair falling over both of their faces, mixing with the blonde of his lover.

“Goodbye, my love. My beautiful Avery,” he whispered.

He heard the galloping of horses and the cries of men draw closer to their hideout. He cradled his lover closer to his body, leaning against the rotting wood of the abandoned barn. He pulled out a dagger from his boot, letting the metal glint in the moonlight that streamed through the cracks in the roof.

“Please God,” he murmured, pressing the tip to his chest, right over his heart. “Let us not be parted. Let our souls stay as bonded as they are now. Give us a chance to love each other again, in a time and a world where our love with be accepted. Please God. I ask for nothing else from you. Just let us have our chance to be together.”

A bird flew from its perch in the rafters, though a crack above them into the night sky. A feather fell from the bird and slowly drifted down to the pair on the floor. It was of the purest white, a feather of a dove. And William believed his prayer had been heard.

Banging sounded on the wooden doors of the barn before the old wood shattered under the pressure of dozens of men forcing them open. Men with torches, guns, and swords flooded into the barn but they were too late. They beheld the scene of the two lovers cradled in the hay, one shot in the chest and the other clutching a knife in his heart. They were illuminated by the full moon’s gentle rays, a beautiful sight if not for the morbid undertone.

London, England – 2008

“So are you ready for University Avery.”

“I guess so,” Avery replied to his best friend, standing in line at the park to get some coffee from a vender.

“Hey Avery that guy’s been staring at you for a long time now.”

“What guy,” he asked in curiosity, turning around to glance where his friend was looking.

He saw a tall, well built man standing on the other side of a fountain not twenty meters from them. Avery’s heart fluttered and he felt his breath catch. He knew this man…he knew him so well. He remembered a whispered plea into the night and a pain in his chest. Avery dropped his bag, hand flying to his chest as he walked away from his friend and glided over to this man. Tears trailed down his face as he came to stand before him, looking up to his handsome face.

“William,” he whispered, body trembling as he was overwhelmed with the unbelievable situation. Arms came and wrapped around his lithe body, pulling him to a strong chest and he collapsed in the hold.

“Hello my love,” he heard whispered in his ear and lips pressed to his forehead, and Avery’s heart felt whole once more.

AN: Ah I love this one, reincarnations are fun. I’ve already expanded this one and will probably add a little more before I post it on the site.
